His last project might have been a miss. But people are smoking rock if they don't think he's one of the greatest. Detroit 2 is fire. Edit: I'm talking about Double or Nothing, not I Decided.
Like I said I am a Big Sean fan and a supporter of this new album. What I was talking about was that project with metro boomin. That wasn't it. This shit is and Sean is in my top 10 maybe my top 5.
Honestly just vibed to this album and coming from someone who has been very critical of big sean only recently favoring up to him, this project was truly really good. Of course there are songs I'll play more by themselves in the future but playing it straight through as an album I'm truly satisfied with this project. Good job Sean
while i also question whether or not the lack of direction will be a barrier for listeners, i also wonder if this is intended to be a broader stroke from him given its mixtape feel/setup. I Decided had more direction but isn't as strong IMO - he even labeled it a concept album. but with this 21 track offering it'd be difficult to accomplish a level of cohesion often associated with more concise, sometimes concept, album work. i really agree with Shawns best tracks, the strengths of these top tracks really resonate with you and reflect a technical side of Sean we haven't seen possibly ever. I'm really excited about the growth and hunger on display. But with Sean i've always craved a really succint, strong project. Like an album that whenever i return it to it, i let it rock from top to bottom, no hesitation. For me he doesnt have that like some of his peers do. For Detroit 2, the world of it is so accessible and warm... u could feel the love he has for it. but i wish someone would have him just slice a couple of those tracks (twenty88 collab, ztfo, baddest,) off and just focus it a little more, focus on not overlapping his messages so much... less is usually more. But i do really love a lot of these songs and think I will return to them for a while, they're so triumphant and i appreciate the lift he's giving us in the current context. I still want more from him but after Double or Nothing, I'm very proud to see him bounce back in this way. you can hear the inspiration. i really enjoyed it.
Paul Phoenix statistically, Em's practically the biggest artist on the track, in which it's widely regarded he's a legend in his own right, with Big Sean's respect. with that being said, it was more like "give the talent what they need/want" which is what it was. it's also a cypher, so artists coulda submitted a longer verse yet they didn't. not an em stan tho, i just like his stuff, and respect the talent, and you give the big artists the spotlight yk?
Andrew yeah not gonna lie after another listen it’s dropped a little. I just think he needs to stop trying the singing love songs, no one wants those lmao

I like this chill delivery too. I'm honestly not a big fan of Em's "rap as fast as you can" style. I swear to god I saw an interview with Eminem yeeeears ago where he, and I'm not fucking kidding, literally said "I use to think the faster you rapped the better you were." but then went on to say that that was wrong. I've thought about that interview a lot in recent years.

I do want to listen to this album a 2nd or 3rd time before I really Judge it but.... While there are some flawwed songs the high points of this album are VERY high & I think Sean put on display not only his great talents as a lyricist once again. He also sort of stepped out of him comfort zone & showed how versatile he can truly be when he is at his best. He also showed growth as an artist as well. This album has AT LEAST 4 to 5 songs that people could remember for a long time & a few underrated songs as well. The features were also very good as well even though the Travis Scott one was kind of weak low key. Overall this album is at least at the level of I Decided & Dark Sky Paradise. & I think as this album grows on most people we could look back & say as of 2020 this is some of if not Big Sean’s best work 💯.

I disagree completely - this is one of his best albums. You can hear the blood sweat and tears in the music. He worked hard on this one and I honestly give it a 10/10
His bars are okay??? The man is a whole Masterpiece. what more do you want from a high-class rapper who spits knowledge, wisdom, and encouragement? Plus this man can freestyle his ass off. True fans are truly uplifting this man simply because he was born and blessed with the Attribute God himself gave to him, and he took advantage of his golden opportunity and found a great marathon of Bizzare success. And the best part about his upcoming success was that the world was watching him, a unity of supporters and self-loathing haters. This man, and a few other rap performers, sacrifice their whole life being a people's pleaser just to please the grateful, and to dissuade the ungrateful at the same time. I make music myself, going to college of learning audio engineering ( audio and music production) to better my education and self-knowledge to better understand who I am as a music producer, and soon to be a rapper myself, thanking the highest for giving a 19-year-old the talent to produce and write down my ideas. And one day, If I have any chance of meeting Big sean, the very statement I would tell him is that I am thankful for the uplifting spirit that he puts into his music, and encouraging me to do the same.
That's literally what I said about Wolves on first listen, if Post did the hook and Sean had 2 strong verses then it would've been the second-best on the album, second to Guard your Heart ofc
Friday night cypher, after 1st listen 1. Kashdoll 2. Royce 5'9" 3. Big Sean 4. Em 5. Sada Baby There are notable quotables on the track. Royce had a dope callback to Sean's Oprah/Gail line. . . As a cypher it didn't have much substance, but it was fun for the most part. It made me wanna hear more. . .
I disliked this review. So many passive aggressive comments - you’re expectations were for a different album and when you didn’t get that album, “ahh I’m not too crazy about this”, “yeah he should of done...” You stepped into this album with preconceived notions and then your passive aggressive commentary was more for an audience than what came from the heart. 2/10 for your review. This was an excellent album and with decent bars but holistically an amazing body of work.
The pandemic verse, Kobe, Oprah/Gale, etc. is because this album was recorded around February-March and had to be pushed back because of the pandemic. A lot of his subjects didn't age well, but they were also new subjects when he recorded the album.
@@chasem4774 already listened to all this albums except miles but from a first listen I preferred this album, without counting the interludes and 3-4 tracks, I really liked this project as a whole

Big Sean: “I’d never thought I see Kobe go before magic.”
Shawn and everybody watching this video: “Why you say that?”
I felt it in my soul when he said Sinai Grace needs to be shut down.
Only this dude can say it’s he’s best album & then give him a 6/10” 😅
Sean is back! Definitely one of my favorite albums this year! 🔥🔥
yk mane, this mixing so far on the album is amazing
Been waiting on this video! Great work Shawn!!
The Sean we got when overtime came out was missing imo.. i couldn’t tolerate most of these songs
That's literally what I said about Wolves on first listen, if Post did the hook and Sean had 2 strong verses then it would've been the second-best on the album, second to Guard your Heart ofc
Let's be honest Eminem killed it lol, he renegaded that entire track.
Friday night cypher, after 1st listen
1. Kashdoll
2. Royce 5'9"
3. Big Sean
4. Em
5. Sada Baby
There are notable quotables on the track. Royce had a dope callback to Sean's Oprah/Gail line. . . As a cypher it didn't have much substance, but it was fun for the most part. It made me wanna hear more. . .
I disliked this review. So many passive aggressive comments - you’re expectations were for a different album and when you didn’t get that album, “ahh I’m not too crazy about this”, “yeah he should of done...”
You stepped into this album with preconceived notions and then your passive aggressive commentary was more for an audience than what came from the heart.
2/10 for your review. This was an excellent album and with decent bars but holistically an amazing body of work.
This album is one of the best 2020 album after pop smoke
This album lived up to the hype
shawn cee expresses the feeling i have but i dont know how to explain them perfectly . i love this guys ability to connect with me like that .

I was not surprised to see he used the Godzilla beat for The Baddest on Detroit 2. Thats Detroits anthem 💪🏽
HTMD reminds me when he did Bounce Back for I decided.
The pandemic verse, Kobe, Oprah/Gale, etc. is because this album was recorded around February-March and had to be pushed back because of the pandemic. A lot of his subjects didn't age well, but they were also new subjects when he recorded the album.
This is the best rap album that I've heard this year, let's see if it will remain this way till December
Fede 99 you heard king’s disease?
@@Greeze_fr yes, but I prefer this one
No pressure was better but this is also great. Shout-out to unlocked too.
Listen to unlocked, Alfredo, miles, RTJ4, Limbo, and no pressure they are better than this album in my opinion
@@chasem4774 already listened to all this albums except miles but from a first listen I preferred this album, without counting the interludes and 3-4 tracks, I really liked this project as a whole
Respect It into Lithuania is just such a hard 2 song run
12:03 aged like milk
I always placed Big Sean in the top 3. Everytime an album drops he jumps to the #1 spot until J. Cole or Kendrick drop. Big Sean is in 1st place right now.
I wouldn’t even call myself an Eminem fan but I think he did nice on the song
Garbage im from the D
I didnt even know about this album until Eminems verse on the cypher
