Has no one realized how amazing and important "XXX" is ? People criticize Kendrick for being a hypocrite, preaching about peace and equality but he used to gangbang and they claim he's still violent , this is his response, he's saying anyone has a sensitivity to them that can make them snap and go crazy even if you're about peace and gun control or equality so his friend calls him asking him for advice because his son was murdered and he knows Kendrick is a man of god and peace but Kendrick tells him nah fuck that if someone killed my son somebody's getting killed and then he explains how he would try to kill him and ultimately go on a killing spree and go insane if someone touched his family (also I believe he's driving through Compton and that siren in the beat is representing police and paramedics which implies people are dying and crazy shit is happening while he's saying all of this on the phone) and then he tells his friend he has to go to a convention (to talk about gun control as you hear in the Spotify version) and when the beat changes well everything bono and Kendrick says is what they're saying in the convention. All of this effort and detail in one song easily makes XXX the best song on the album
MrDominik916 and this is why anyone who listens to Kendrick for the first time should give their overall opinion after they read the lyrics and then play the song again lol understanding the lyrics infuse you into Kendrick's music better
he liked it he understands it and stuff but just sonicly its not as good as GKMC which i can agree on. Specially if you're white and u never listened to Funk music it doesnt sound too appealing at first (in my case). But reading the lyrics and explanations, the message etc it is truly a masterpiece but sonicly not for me atleast. I still bump tracks like Alright, King Kunta

Replay certain parts and research (read comments, reviews, and talk amongst friends) to get the full meaning.
Shawn, in case you're wondering, that "Hip Hop is more damaging than racism" sample is from Geraldo Rivera on Fox News talking about Kendrick BET performance of "Alright."
“GOD” is severely underrated. He took a sound everyone is using nowadays & took it to another level. He talks about being worshipped & feeling like he has it all (like a god) but still being judged & critiqued. Great production on the entire album though.

Dude I found Shawn a few days ago to just look at what he thinks about my favorite albums, and I totally respect, love, and value how much he dissects music and finds all the meanings, he actually pretty much explains music to me. I didn’t know how much was in music, the perspectives, the meanings. I love you, Shawn Cee. I appreciate your channel, and I hope you blow up some day
This album made me love albums. I always loved music and liked certain artists but that summer after i broke up with my first love this just made me feel so much better. Made me just ok with what I'd done and my new found loneliness. Really started listening to music and started growing up too
I think the argument will be that TPAB is deeper and more lyrical than this album... But honestly this album is just purely real, not directed toward any one group but a message to all people that's honest and relatable
In Duckworth, Kendrick was telling a story of how the ceo of top dawg ent, who is Anthony, almost killed Kendricks father, who is ducky, my man I had to listen to it bout 3 times to understand, I was blown away Bruh!!!
It's the depression brother. It's coming out because you've found a relation in your current state of feelings. Reflect on the music and listen over, then reflect on your life to improve what's brought you down to this point.
This is by far the darkest album Kendrick has ever made. Its socially aware, and even has an overarching narrative (as many claim it doesn't). But that is to be expected from Kdot. What I did not expect was for Kendrick to question the way God feels about the planet. I'm an atheist, and pre-release press for this Album made it seem like it was going to be all about God, which i feared because it would alienate me a bit from the music (not that I still can't enjoy it). But I was absolutely wrong. The way Kendrick speaks is so dark its almost depressing. "God" is one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard. Obviously these only my first impressions after my first hearing, and I will need to dissect this a bit more before I reach a verdict on it. For now I can say that the message of this album is defined by the title. Kendrick has given up on the world, and all he can say about what's going on, is "Damn". Not that I blame him.. but to see someone as strong as him come out with something so vulnerable.. its just so powerful to me. One things for sure.. I'll be listening to this album for years.
Avelleo also notice how a set of 2 tracks are kind of the opposite or has some other correlation with eachother. Blood - DNA Yah - Element Feel - Loyalty Pride - Humble Lust - Love xxx - fear God - Duckworth (god - human)
N. Aalderas You put (god-human), but I think he's equating himself to God (god-god). The tracks "God" and "Duckworth" are both 4:08 long. Check the times on Wikipedia.
Skechers In God he equates himself to God In Duckworth he tells a story proving he too is not above the natural progression of the world. It humbles him once again. God - Human
Bruh i've only seen Anthony Fantasia reviews of TPAB, GKMC and Untitled. i'm pretty sure he gave GKMC an 8. Also I think everyone agrees that TPAB is a 10/10 masterpiece.
God is meant to sound mainstream because its basically about where if he was younger is that what he would be doing? Thats the reason its mainstream its basically a fuck you to all of the rappers the just hop on whats popular to go with the crowd, loyalty is on the album because its where he feels alone in the world like in feel where its about him being alone and so he needs some loyalty in his life. The album in itself is about his life and living through fear and weakness but in duckworth he tells you to put it in reverse, so if you listen to the album in reverse duckworth acts as an intro, and so the gunshot in the track is Anthony killing Ducky setting the scene for the album in reverse order which is about his life without his dad and in blood he tries to make up for all the shit he pulled in some way so he goes to help a blind woman but this random act is meant to be an assassination attempt so he gets shot and killed like how in duckworth he says "Where I grew up without a father and die in a gunfight". Like if you agree with this theory. Most of the credit goes out to Tabby that man is a legend when it comes to identifying lyrics and concepts "Wondering if i'm living through fear or living through rap. (DAMN.)" Kendrick is a legend.
I relistened after a long break, my top 5 1. DNA 2. Feel 3. XXX 4. Fear 5. Element Those songs never gets old!! Humble has good replay value even though it is not as deep as the other songs.

I think the argument will be that TPAB is deeper and more lyrical than this album... But honestly this album is just purely real, not directed toward any one group but a message to all people that's honest and relatable
What's hitting me so hard about this album is the relatability and openness. Very vulnerable for K. Dot
Shawn- "Ok this is my favorite track, ok no this one, actually its this one." 😂
FEAR was the Sing About Me for DAMN. I say that cause they both connected the dots for me. The production is realllllly on point.
Aidan Moore I
In Duckworth, Kendrick was telling a story of how the ceo of top dawg ent, who is Anthony, almost killed Kendricks father, who is ducky, my man I had to listen to it bout 3 times to understand, I was blown away Bruh!!!

This fucking album made me cry. Like literally weeping in my car.
youscrewber relax please
fucking relax it's not that emotional
youscrewber It's not that serious hopefully you're joking
It's the depression brother. It's coming out because you've found a relation in your current state of feelings. Reflect on the music and listen over, then reflect on your life to improve what's brought you down to this point.
Ahmad Haddad You a therapist or something 😂
Shawn your channel is growing rapidly....keep grinding ☝🏻
Avelleo exactly put the words into what my tiny brain couldn't
Avelleo
also notice how a set of 2 tracks are kind of the opposite or has some other correlation with eachother.
Blood - DNA
Yah - Element
Feel - Loyalty
Pride - Humble
Lust - Love
xxx - fear
God - Duckworth (god - human)
N. Aalderas You put (god-human), but I think he's equating himself to God (god-god).
The tracks "God" and "Duckworth" are both 4:08 long. Check the times on Wikipedia.
Skechers
In God he equates himself to God
In Duckworth he tells a story proving he too is not above the natural progression of the world. It humbles him once again.
God - Human
N. Aalders What's the overall theme of the album, in your opinion?
I love coming back to this vid every once in a while to feel that initial hype all over again
B Z forreealll bro
Still hits different
Ok it's settled.. joey and Kendrick need to do an album together! Or at least a feature!

imo:
DAMN.: 9/10
Untitled Unmastered: 8/10
TPAB: 10/10
GKMC: 9/10
Section.80: 8/10
Overly Dedicated: 7.5/10
Joshua Kim I can see that Anthony fantano has influenced u a bit...
mikaelt7 i don't think so. the mainstream appeal song sacrifice the sophistication of the album with Loyalty, Love and God
Bruh i've only seen Anthony Fantasia reviews of TPAB, GKMC and Untitled. i'm pretty sure he gave GKMC an 8. Also I think everyone agrees that TPAB is a 10/10 masterpiece.
Joshua Kim nah gkmc was a 9 but I'm just playin anyways
Joshua Kim he gave GKMC a 9 not 8.
3:26 That perfectly cut scream lmao
Lmao
Most of the credit goes out to Tabby that man is a legend when it comes to identifying lyrics and concepts
"Wondering if i'm living through fear or living through rap. (DAMN.)"
Kendrick is a legend.
The beat change in DNA made me give up on life and come to terms with the fact that I'll never amount to anything ever.

Yo, I appreciate your videos. You're not just another churn and burn reaction channel. You know, one of those channels that watch a video or listen to an album and just say, "wow, that was good," and then move on. You put a lot thought into your opinions and actual contribute something to the dialogue of the art, instead of just praising it. Keep up the good work, you deserve every subscriber you have and you just earned another one. I think that's a phrase you'll be hearing a lot.
👌
dude literally 3 years ago 15yo dumbass me finally listened to something other than heavy metal and prog metal and actually started listening to more genres thanks to this album
