  • The Lost World Jurassic Park Reaction is today's video!
Hey everyone! Join me as I watch The Lost World Jurassic Park for the first time today! This time it is with Dr. Malcolm and Sarah Harding! 2 T-Rex's get really mad since they took their baby and the chaos just continues from there!
John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) summons chaos theorist Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) to his home with some startling information -- while nearly everything at his Jurassic Park had been destroyed, his engineers happened to have a second site, where other dinosaurs were kept in hiding. It seems the dinosaurs on the second island are alive and well and even breeding; and Hammond wants Malcolm to observe and document the reptiles before Hammond's financiers can get to them.

Fun Fact: The Raptors in the book version of this film were a lot more feral. They somewhat tolerated each other because of their pack animal mentality, however they were more than willing to attack and cannibalize each other if they felt like it was necessary in one scene Raptors were feasting on a corpse and they would attack each other while they eat, even the baby raptors would get slashed and bit at. They eventually killed one of their own and proceeded to cannibalize on the raptor. Sarah Harding deduced that since they had no predecessors due to being cloned, they all developed a Survival of the Fittest type of society rather than proper pack behavior

Ik they focus a lot on raptors in the whole franchise but I WISH they spent at least one movie taking the approach of the books regarding the raptors. It really is a shame.

Which was just her theory. And having been all infected by the virus, it could have been just the effect of the DX. That was the whole point of the book. Every issue the dinosaurs had was because of the engineers engineer mentality, and not looking at them like real animals.

The 'poachers' were not in there for no reason. Ingen was on the verge of bankruptcy and Hammond's nephew took control in order to save the company. But to do so, he believed he had to capitalize on the dinos they already had on Isla Sorna. They had spent a huge fortune developing them and did not have the money to spend on creating anything else. But Hammond already knew from experience not to do that, that it would end in disaster and had been preventing any such move until the girl got hurt. And because the 'poachers' were actually hired by Ingen to get the animals Ingen had created, it actually was not poaching, according to Ingen business practices and policies. The dinos were Ingen property, but try telling that to the dinos......
P.S. the book is very different and I actually like it a lot more, though I still like this movie more than a lot of people do.

Still, they should have used Biosyn instead of InGen as the enemy. It would have made more sense. (Although people who hasn't read the book would have still whined that it made no sense, even though we had Dodgson in the first film) I love TLW though. Both the movie, and the book.

Fun fact for you, the little dinos the Compys have venom that basically puts you to sleep which is why they were actually able to kill an adult man. It's never mentioned in the movies however it is mentioned in the TV show Camp Cretaceous which I highly recommend watching.
In the books some of them kill John Hammond. There's also a part in one of the books where some of them eat a baby.

Most of the effects used in the first three Jurassic Park movies were actually animatronics
If you pay close attention while watching the first movie you can tell most of the time when CGI is used instead of the animatronics (most notably/noticably the Brachiosaurus as the first dinosaur we actually get to see in all its glory and some of the shots of of the raptors in the kitchen scene; fun fact about the raptors as well, the "animatronic" versions were actually actors in raptor-suits).
The CGI does still hold up enough, but it definitely helps that most of the effects were done practically, because those hold up even better

There's a lot of deleted scenes Where Peter Ludlow has John Hammond, his uncle, fired from InGen rather than go to jail and face criminal and safety negligence.
Another deleted scene introduced Roland Tembo, whom gets into a bar fight with a rude tourist. His friend, Ajay tries to convince him to go onto this expedition.
Roland says," Ajay, go up to my ranch, take a look around the trophy room, and you tell me what kind of quarry you think could possibly be of any interest to me."

My favorite part of this movie is the entire T-Rex scene where the parents come for their kid. My second favorite part was when the T-rex is in the city, especially when he reunites with his kid at the end. Although, that's all I remember from this movie. So, that's probably why they are my favorite parts.

9:11 Timbo was kind of set up in one of the deleted scenes (along with his partner Ajay)- he's a big game hunter for the thrills. With the InGen islands, he's got an opportunity to hunt one of the biggest predators walking the earth.
10:21 Good call, Cody. It's not mentioned in the movies (only in Camp Cretaceous), but the InGen compies (Compsognathus) have toxic bites, making them even scarier as a swarm. It's why the compies behaved in that "attack and retreat" manner when they were attacking Stark. Burke, the paleontologist for the bad guys, not knowing that is the first sign that he's not that competent (he didn't do his research on these engineered animals).

One of my favorite little details of this film is that they made some of the dinosaurs sexual dimorphic, meaning that there are clear differences between the males and females. For example, the male T. rex in the film was green, had a differently shaped snout, and a throat waddle, whereas the females were brown and had a more slender snout. The raptors are also a prime example, as the females are brown and the males are orange with black tiger stripes. This is something we see in modern day birds, which are technically dinosaurs anyway. So kudos to the paleontology consultants for that little detail.

I know some people, like Nostalgia Critic, hated this movie because of the story set on another island and because of the character decisions (and because of how Alan and Ellie weren't present in this movie), but I strongly disagree as this island is a breeding site for animals to be transported to Nublar was a tourist attraction once the park is ready to open, even the incubator on Nublar is also for show, and the Jurassic franchise isn't black and white, it's all grey, they're not idiots, they just didn't know what situations they're in. The Lost World: Jurassic Park is the first Jurassic movie I've ever seen as a kid, and became my favorite sequel in the entire franchise before Jurassic World. I can agree with Klayton Fioriti that I enjoyed the dark tone and any series of chaos theories present in the movie, as if Nick hadn't removed Roland Tembo's bullets, he would've shot the Doe T-Rex instead of his target--the Buck--startling everyone including the Buck, forcing him to charge towards Roland out of anger as he was about to reload, thus ending his life.

So two shots to the head of ole Rexy would definitely be a lethal blow and if not disabling it enough to load the double barrel again for the quadruple tap. Would be amazing to see. Definitely, tho,The Lost World, for the most part, has the best CGI of the franchise, and not only that,it's even better than the majority of what we get today in terms of animals and creatures in movies,so I gotta agree with you on that.
Also,I'm proud of you, because you know your stuff on dinosaurs, you recognized the Stegosaurs and you even corrected yourself on the common mistake of confusing the Pteranodon with the Pterodactyl,a round of applause for you,my dude 👏🏻.
And no worries,I would never hate on someone's opinion,it's just that,if I really enjoyed something,it's kinda saddening hearing that the other person didn't,because I wish that person to feel the same good feeling I had
13:39 well, yes, the mom and the dad,Doe and Buck, while the little one is called Junior. In T. rexes, the female is bigger than the male,or,at least,is theorized to be so,and also,in this movie, they did a really really nice sexual dimorphism, making the male more colorful with bright green and beige, while this particular female is brown/light brown
15:48 it's not that he can't move or that he's slipping,it's the hoist that is too short

I was a teen with my first “real” job in a movie theater in 1993. I got swept up in the excitement of JP and bonded with my dad over it who had read the book. The CGI was fantastic and as a youngster I thought the story was brilliant.
But it was just formula done well off a book which was also formula done well.
The sequels are not based on a well made formula story - they are another chapter of capitalism:
    Milk this cow.
Hire any actors from the original you can.
Make bigger dinosaurs (with less money and in less time).
    Explosions?
    Sell merch.
There is a reason one is a classic and the rest are noisy.
I grew out of being able to tolerate manipulative shrink wrapped formula not many years later but it is fun to see new generations watch from here in the far off future.
