"Internal bleeding from one punch?" - well, old people are not exactly known for their sturdy bodies. And the king was very, very old. So, it´s quite possible.
While it was more than one punch in that case, this reminded me a lot of Houdini’s death. This is quite the exciting action adventure Sci Fi fantasy film that will leave you cheering. This is also the last film to have actor Jim Varney, as he sadly passed away in 1999 at age 50 due to lung cancer. Corey Burton would finish his lines in some parts of the movie. Oh to live in a time before Michael Bay’s Transformers turned explosions into a meme...but seriously, this movie managed to hit the action flick sweet spot, lots of explosions and cool fight scenes, while still having a substantive story and characters.

To explain Milo drinking the nitroglycerin, it's sweet. It smells like caramel or banana and tastes sweet. Depending on how much, drinking liquid nitroglycerin could make you go red in the face or even faint. It acts as a vasodilator, enlarging your blood vessels and lowering your blood pressure. Side effects are an elevated heart rate and nausea. Nitroglycerin tablets are administered to treat chest pain in people who have coronary artery disease. The tablets are dissolved under the tongue or in the cheek so they can absorb straight into the blood stream. Don't mess with the stuff unless instructed by a medical professional.
This is THE movie in the early days of the post-Renaissance Era that is criminally underrated right next to Treasure Planet! Atlantis is my personal favorite!

"When did you establish there was a missing page?" At 16:45 "Oh it's her mother's bracelet." Actually it's her bracelet. The one her mother was holding onto when she was chosen by the crystal.
The missing page is first mentioned during the camp dinner scene. It's very brief, but it establishes the crew intended to deceive Milo from the start, since they HD to have removed it before he even got it.
I think my absolute favourite moment in this movie is at the end when Milo is shown to have given the picture of him and his grandfather as a gift(along side a piece of proof). He willingly gave up his last connection to his family and his previous life for the chance at a completely new one. ❤️

If I had seen this movie as a kid, it would’ve been one of my favorites for sure. Seeing it for the first time in my 20s, I really appreciated the more mature tone. This isn’t a movie targeted specifically at kids, it’s a work of art that anyone of any age can enjoy. A timeless story of adventure, a great lost civilization, and romance. It’s got some Jules Verne in it, some Indiana Jones, some Avatar, but this movie more than stands on its own! Milo is a lovable geeky lead, Kida is an awesome Disney princess, and the two have great chemistry in their scenes together. The only thing I would change is having even more scenes between them! Their interactions were funny, heartwarming and believable. The side characters are all funny and quirky, as you come to expect from Disney, but it hits you different in this movie when the twist occurs, and they all end up siding with Rourke (at first, at least). This after they spent all this time building up their friendship with Milo. We really get attached to these guys, and it hurts when they seemingly abandon Milo in his time of need. Speaking of Rourke, this guy is one of the most menacing and realistic villains in the Disney catalogue. The fact that his voice makes him come off as a really warm father / uncle just makes his reveal to be a soulless greedy narcissist, while not a shock or anything, to really resonate. And you can tell how much it hurts Milo, as he was had trusted Rourke from the start. Helga is an awesome femme fatale. Yeah. I never thought I would say that about a Disney character. Her intro is straight out of a 30s film noir. Anachronistic? Yes. Badass? Yes. That little inconsistency didn’t really bother me, she was just a great character. Overall, I can’t say enough good things about this movie. Again, I only wish I could have seen it sooner, it’s a real lost masterpiece.

The missing page was established when Milo was reading the journal in the caves on the way to Atlantis. Milo talks about the power source but "it just ends" as in, the rest of that part is missing. A punch and a fall. Old people can die from falling and breaking a hip. It's really not much of a stretch that a very old and frail person can die from internal bleeding after they get punched hard and fall down on a stone floor.
"That would be a cabbage." *F--K YOUR CABBAGES!!!!* **Smash cabbages** *"AWE! MY CABBAGES!!!!"* "Wasn't there another person in there?" Yeah, that guy who had the door shut on him . . . I can imagine he's gonna say some not so kind things about Audrey to St. Peter . . . :3 Great job figuring out the King is blind and why. When I first saw it on VHS in 2001, I didn't know why his eyes were white. Yes, he looked into the Heart of Atlantis when it was activated, basically same reason they tell you not to look straight at a nuclear bomb when it goes off . . .
Fun fact: one of this movie’s concept designers was Mike Mignola, the creator of Hellboy (and also has done a lot of notable work as an artist for both Marvel and DC). His influence is very apparent in the character design and artstyle and (in my opinion) sets this movie apart from the other Disney Movies in the best way.
Ahhh, Atlantis. One of my favourite animated movies. I'm so happy that this film is getting more attention nowadays. It flopped when it came out because of timing, but it's genuinely a really good film, and I'm so glad you have had the opportunity to experience it
Atlantis The lost empire is one of my favorite post renaissance films. I actually grew up watching the sequel. 2:04 “Must have sucked for everyone outside the dome.”- @SophiaPlan. 17:54 True.
There's a theory somewhere (and my own conclusion as well) that the general Rourke stole that page after grandfather Thatch translated, which seems obvious since he can't read atlantian while Thatch could. And little after, Milo's grandfather died. Not from deception, but probably by Rourke's hands.
This is one of my top 10 movies of all time. It's also apart of my special 3 movies of "Underrated movies about finding mythical places" with the other two including Treasure Planet and Road to El Dorado. This is easily one that I will rewatch over and over. So much to love about it from the story to the animation, music, characters and so much more. Kida and Milo also are probably also one of my favorite Disney couples. So much chemistry for them and they don't even have a kiss. Also I don't know if any other comment said it, but the creators of the film did in fact make up an entire Atlantaen alphabet. So when they speak it in the movie, it isn't just gibberish, it has a real translation to actual sentences.
Oh yeah, that's right! I totally completely forgot about this movie! Feels great to go back in time: and reminisce this film from the past. I feel like I'm in 1st grade or 2nd grade once more again, lol haha. Nostalgic memories hurt a lot. But being young again is a gift 💙🩵
I love this movie so much and the music in this movie is amazing! Also Milo, if you can't be strong then be smart. And he is! 🥰 also love michael j fox his voice!
The lost city of Atlantis by Disney is one of my favorite classic Disney cartoons growing up. Showing the discovery of Atlantis and how Disney was able to come up with a movie showing that discovery. You said you’ve never seen Tarzan in years which is another good movie by Disney which I loved also, but I think a Disney movie the tops that is the sword in the stone. A movie depicting the time of the dark ages and king Arthur, swords nights and of course a little bit of magic (sorcery). I hope we get to do a reaction to Disney sword in the stone soon!!!!
the biggest thing i take away from this, as well as most movies from this time, is the charm of the characters. the story and action would be C tier at worst but the characters were so fun and enjoyable to watch that i come back to see these movies. that and the world they creates is pretty cool. heck, they were making a series but that got dropped when the Box Office numbers weren't great and that's why the "sequel" was just a few episodes stitched together. it's not bad just ok.
Along with sword in the stone, is another of my favorites which I hope is on your list of classic Disney films is Disney Robin Hood if you’ve ever seen it. I do hope you make a reaction video!!!
_"The animation quality of a movie from back then..."_ My dude. It was 20 years ago, not the 1960s. lol Traditional animation is timeless for a reason. Jesus Christ these movie reaction channels make me feel like the Crypt Keeper sometimes. I was a junior in high school when this came out! 😂 Great reaction regardless, though! 😊
@@ItsTotallyCody My younger sister is 26, too. I didn't say it was _inaccurate,_ I just meant that in terms of traditional animation 20 years is practically nothing (it's not like computer animation where 20 years is an eternity just because of the advancement of computer processing power) so it's just a little odd to me to say it "holds up." 🤷♀️
Thanks for this Cody. I know I say this alot when I see your reactions to movies I've seen. I know it's an underrated animated movie, but it's a great movie and it was a masterpiece with live-action background and CGI animation styles for the realistic dinosaurs.
But I really love this movie.
Yes very cool movie indeed, way too underrated
I hope one day they will do live version movie with Tom Holland as milo
Michael J fox will always be Marty Mcfly, Stuart little, and milo thatch to me
3:53-5😆ur reaction matches with the scene
12:20
16:09 why
17:03 😆 20:40 24:37-9
19:06 ??????
24:23-32 😎✊🏻
34:49 what would have been funny was the 🧨 guy giving him 🖕🏻
RIP voice actors who passed
Michael j fox (Marty mcfly, milo thatch, Stuart little) is a iconic gem
If they actually do that with Tom Holland as Milo Thatch, then Zendaya should audition for the role of Kida.
@@morganspider-manmarvelfan6110 that will one day be dope
@@hunterknobelcatholicknight3006 It would be since they’re dating in real life.
Have always been more of a DreamWorks fan over Disney, but Atlantis holds a special place.
I was 4 when thia came out, never saw it theaters as far as I can recall. I do recall getting the toys for Christmas either 2001 or 2002.
This used to be my favorite Disney movie back 3 years ago
The missing page was established when Milo was reading the journal in the caves on the way to Atlantis. Milo talks about the power source but "it just ends" as in, the rest of that part is missing.
A punch and a fall. Old people can die from falling and breaking a hip. It's really not much of a stretch that a very old and frail person can die from internal bleeding after they get punched hard and fall down on a stone floor.
"That would be a cabbage." *F--K YOUR CABBAGES!!!!* **Smash cabbages** *"AWE! MY CABBAGES!!!!"*
"Wasn't there another person in there?" Yeah, that guy who had the door shut on him . . . I can imagine he's gonna say some not so kind things about Audrey to St. Peter . . . :3
Great job figuring out the King is blind and why.
Underrated. I Watched it for The First Time Last Week.
Rest in Peace, King of Atlantis.
The Hidden Gem to Disney's Ultimate Attention
4:09, funny enough, that guys voice actor, David Ogden Stiers, actually voiced the Penguin once.
In Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman (2003).
Recommend another based “Atlantis: The Lost Empire” movie: Stargate (1994) and Castle in the Sky
One of my favorite movies. I really love how each member of the squad was animated differently
I just found out milo is the same voice as stuart little and chance from homeward bound.
Grew up watching this movie as well as the short tv series
Ahhh, Atlantis. One of my favourite animated movies. I'm so happy that this film is getting more attention nowadays. It flopped when it came out because of timing, but it's genuinely a really good film, and I'm so glad you have had the opportunity to experience it
36:00-36:02 crystals 37:32 they look similar to the iron Giant.
Hi Cody I truthfully love this movie so thank you
This is why Rourke shouldn’t be trusted because he’s mercenary, as they always say about mercenaries is that their trust is bought and not earned
I see what you mean, Cody. Rourke kinda is like Clayton from Tarzan a little bit
You should react to the movie Dinosaur. It’s another underrated Disney classic from 2000.
Millennium year
Amazing and underrated
The lost city of Atlantis by Disney is one of my favorite classic Disney cartoons growing up. Showing the discovery of Atlantis and how Disney was able to come up with a movie showing that discovery. You said you’ve never seen Tarzan in years which is another good movie by Disney which I loved also, but I think a Disney movie the tops that is the sword in the stone. A movie depicting the time of the dark ages and king Arthur, swords nights and of course a little bit of magic (sorcery). I hope we get to do a reaction to Disney sword in the stone soon!!!!
Helga literally looks like a Sonya Blade
the biggest thing i take away from this, as well as most movies from this time, is the charm of the characters. the story and action would be C tier at worst but the characters were so fun and enjoyable to watch that i come back to see these movies. that and the world they creates is pretty cool. heck, they were making a series but that got dropped when the Box Office numbers weren't great and that's why the "sequel" was just a few episodes stitched together. it's not bad just ok.
i mean LORD! the first dive and the fight with the Leviathan is just amazing. the CGI still holds up if you ask me.
Even to this day, this is still one of my top 3 favorite Disney movies of all time.
I think one of the best parts about this film is that the king is voiced by Leonard Nemoy
Without a doubt my favorite disney film. And Kiba's my favorite princess.
Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but this movie does have a sequel, in case you're interested
I would watch this movie a hundred times cause this is amazing and magical. 😍😍😍💎
Along with sword in the stone, is another of my favorites which I hope is on your list of classic Disney films is Disney Robin Hood if you’ve ever seen it. I do hope you make a reaction video!!!
Seeing this movie now that im older I realize this movie is really damm dark.
20:00 I feel it's the most beautiful scenery and music in any Disney movie.
You don't even have to know that Rourke is in the military. His big chin says more than enough.
_"The animation quality of a movie from back then..."_
My dude. It was 20 years ago, not the 1960s. lol Traditional animation is timeless for a reason.
Jesus Christ these movie reaction channels make me feel like the Crypt Keeper sometimes. I was a junior in high school when this came out! 😂 Great reaction regardless, though! 😊
Yea I’m 26… I was 6 years old when this came out so yea back then is an accurate statement
@@ItsTotallyCody My younger sister is 26, too. I didn't say it was _inaccurate,_ I just meant that in terms of traditional animation 20 years is practically nothing (it's not like computer animation where 20 years is an eternity just because of the advancement of computer processing power) so it's just a little odd to me to say it "holds up." 🤷♀️
I just caught that the lieutenant mentioned P.T Barnum...
Thanks for this Cody. I know I say this alot when I see your reactions to movies I've seen. But it's so enjoyable to see what you think of it ☺️ if I ever resembled a disney character, at least physically, It would be Milo. Also, "You can't trust people in the military in these movies." Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you say you used to be in the Army 🪖?
Hey, Cody. Great reaction as always! By the way, are you going to react to the Lion king 2 Simba's Pride? I think that would be a good one. 😁👍💙
Ah yes, the movie where everyone is hot
My theory is that the General actually murdered his grandfather or helped him die.
audrey is like michelle rodriguez. I can kinda see the avatar cast in some of these characters just like pocahontas lol
Hey Cody. U are so funny when u watch this movie for the first time. And the Giant Monster was a Leviathan Creature under water.
