    The "less than 1% of my power" meme actually comes from a different movie, Phantosaur being a part of the title I believe. Highly recommend watching it someday.
    The main reason why the meme spread towards the live-action movies is because the actor for Shaggy embraced the meme, much to quite a few fans' delight.

    • @PurpleLugia
      @PurpleLugia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Ah, it was from a movie? I know it came from a scene where a bunch of bikers go into a diner where Shaggy is, and he suddenly decided to be brave, and ended up beating them all up. XD And yes, the best part of the meme is that Lillard learned of it and helped bring it to real life. :P

  • @andrewjones6583
    @andrewjones6583 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Fun Fact: James Gunn, the director of this movie made Scrappy the villain was simply because he really hated the character. I find it kinda sad that Scrappy gets all of this hate, especially considering if you think about it, he actually saved Scooby Doo as a franchise. Back in the 70s Scooby Doo was loosing tons of ratings because it’s formula was getting old to viewers, and because of this Scooby Doo was at the brink of being canceled, Scrappy was created in an effort to save the dying series and he was a massive success. There is a video called The Rise and Fall of Scrappy Doo by Inside A Mind on TH-cam that fully goes over his history and how he became one of the most overhated characters in cartoon history

Everyone in the group was perfectly cast as the Mystery Inc., gang: Freddie Prinze, Jr as Fred, Sarah Michelle Geller as Daphne, Linda Cardellini as Velma, and Matthew Lillard as Shaggy. And the slapstick comedy and humor perfectly captures the spirit of the original animated series. Still have the VHS tape of this. My dad told me we saw it in theaters (I was six, so I don't exactly remember) and he said he thought we were going to get kicked out during the burp and fart off between Shaggy and Scooby! We were laughing so hard and so loud! But those monsters use to scare the heck out of me! Like yikes!
    There's a deleted scene where Shaggy witnesses Daphne having her soul taken out and her body being taken over by one of those monsters

    I'll never get over the fact that the initial cut of this movie was given an R rating. Seriously, look it up! James Gunn's script started out as something of a dark parody of Scooby-Doo, poking fun at the original series and appealing more towards older fans who had grown up with the series. Shaggy would have overtly been a stoner, Fred would have come out as gay, they cut out a kiss between Velma and Daphne during the soul-swapping scene, and CGI was used to remove the women's cleavage. But nah. Had to make it a kid's movie.

      I’m glad they did, while I’m curious to see what that movie would have looked like, I think it’s ten times more special to see the embodiment of the shows and characters I grew up on in live action. Felt just like watching the show and that’s something that they did an amazing job with. Even keeping the cheesiness of it alive.

    • @SuperGirl-uj5lq
      @SuperGirl-uj5lq 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm honestly glad they never went with that and we got this instead. It doesn't play true to the characters. If they wanted that version so badly, they should have made brand new characters to be parodies of the gang.

    7:18, Fun Fact, this Film was somewhat originally going to be more Adult rather than having it be a Family Friendly Movie, which explains why the Film was being sneaky by referencing Drugs like Weed, which is what you thought that's what Shaggy meant in this Scene.
    Plus, I think the original Script was going to have, and I'm not joking, Daphne and Velma having a romantic Relationship.
    I'm dead serious, that's what was going to happen.
