What a terrible tragedy for this young man. I can't imagine how he feels, "like a part of his soul is missing," as he said. Still, not what one would normally talk about on a blind date. But she showed much empathy and understanding. They do seem to share values regarding giving back to the community/society. And they seem very much at ease in each other's company. Not the first topic of conversation I'd choose for a first date... any date.
Massively disagree, coming from a family that has had it's own, but admittedly less, troubles, sometimes you worry people are going to judge you, so getting it out there and seeing the other person react in a considerate fashion feels like a load off the mind. Also, whilst this is a TV show, at the end of the day it's 2 people, she chose to let him tell her, nothing wrong with communication

@@OlpyColpy Maybe not for yours, but for two people who are both interested in helping other people and appear to have a lot of chemistry, much of which appears to be predicated upon that, that may well be something they both feel fine talking about on a first date.
