thanks for taking the time to make such a detailed and in depth tutorial. So much of the game was guess work from me I'm glad you made this for people like me who need the extra help. Much love!
As someone who is working on their own tutorial type videos I say well done! It’s was nicely VO’d, filmed, and edited. A great and concise beginners tutorial. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
If you come across a boss platform and want to mark it on your map, you don't need to choose an icon and then name the spot. Just click on the red stone near to the boss platform. It will automatically add the default boss marker with the boss name, the same as if you'd found the location by clicking on a vegvisir. When taming Boars, I make the enclosure out of spiked wall sections rather than stick fences. The stick fences make the tame Boars visible to passing monsters, who will attack them. This can be a big problem with skeleton archers at night, who can shoot the Boars without breaking through the fence. Going to all the trouble of taming Boars, only to have them killed immediately by monsters, is frustrating. If the Boars are behind wall sections, they are out of sight and won't draw aggro. When luring the Boars, I aggro two of them and run back to the enclosure. They both follow and it allows me to trap both in the enclosure in one go. Aggroing them one by one means that opening the door to get the second one in will also allow the first one to get out.
I laughed so hard when you said to be creative as you want with storage!! 😂 I selfishly want you to make a tutorial on EVERYTHING in Valheim because this was so thorough and wonderfully organized that it's going to be perfect for all of the folks I keep dragging into playing this game with me. Fantastic work!!
Awh, Liz! Thank you so much! I'm definitely interested in doing thorough tutorials for the entirety of the game! (I have to be good at all aspects of the game, first! :P)
Very comprehensive! I think I rediscovered the repair button about three different times when I'd been away from the game a while lol. One note: if you find bees before you have a bow, you can set up a workbench, stand off a ways and dismantle build pieces around the hive until it breaks.
I loved your starter guide here. It is well formatted, flows naturally, and hits all the key points that many of the other tutorials fail to mention (like the repair button). One minor correction for constructive criticism; sneaking is the control key not the shift key by default, but these are changeable with keybinding. Thank you for the great video.
Great tutorial, Lawla! Wish I'd have had this when starting out. Loads of information put together in a natural flow. And I didn't know about the sparks trail when placing workbench extensions and the red bar on my skill screen. So thank you! 😃
Thanks for the guide. Started playing last night and this is by far the best starter guide I found. So many other guides state, "now time to build a starter house and all you need is 60,000 wood and a degree in architecture" 😊
Honestly you should make more. I often don't watch some due to not liking the voice giving the information, but your voice is nice and easy to listen to. Keep up the good work!
I love all of the little details you add in to make getting started that much easier. I never made a boar farm or any beehives when I first played Valheim, so it's great to know.
This guide is so good that I’m leaving a huge THANK YOU! I almost gave up on Valheim but this guide has made me fall in love with the game. Take care! 🙈🙉🙊
Thank you for this! I was specifically searching for a "Valheim Basics" that covered the literal basics like you did, which buttons to press etc. So many vids just contain "tips for beginners" that are actually for intermediate players.
Great video! Clear explanations and good information. You really are becoming an expert at this game! Like Innie, I like to set the vegetation to low to get a clearer view of the ground. It also improves video performance on my somewhat older PC. Some people may feel it hurts the look of the game, though.
I've been watching your Valheim LP, which is tons of fun. This video showed up in my suggested feed. I've been playing Valheim since launch, and this is the most thorough guide I have seen. Really well done. Fantastic work!
I found it very helpful to turn the vegetation down on the settings, to make it easier to see mushrooms! Sneak.. Control, not Shift. Another really good video!
This is by far the best beginner guide on Valheim I've seen. As someone who has 100+ hrs in valheim I still learnt things I didn't know. Thank you and well done
@@LawlaLeyshon no worries. I've just started watching your blind let's play of valheim now. Wow you have a lot of episodes can't wait to see how that goes.
a very good tutorial lawla. i enjoyed watching and i've been playing a while. one thing i recently discovered when you open the inventory and want to split a stack of items to store you don't have to use the slider: just enter the number of items you want to keep or store and it automatically splits that way with you control the number you wanted to move
Let me pile on with the existing accolades! Fantastic job on this tutorial! You covered all the basic requirements to prepare someone for their first boss fight! Very clear and concise, easy to understand, and helpful. Great job, and great editing pulling it all together. Worth the wait!
This is such a helpful video with all kinds of useful info and tips! I want to make a joke about taking a shot every time you say “more on that later”, but with how much stuff intertwines in this game, it’s awesome that you were able to keep the video so organized! Brava, you def earned a new sub here, keep up the awesome work!!
Hey Lawla i know it's abit late but i just wanna say thank you for these tutorials, there are one tips you gave me here, and it was the PING mark, i never knew that untill i watched your videos, so thank you for that. Great Tutorial....and you sound so lovely too (not being weird), but yeah one new subscriber added...cheers
Very well done. Just couple fine points that spikes don’t give back material when destroyed. Second point in my opinion best way to get bees is to make workbench and use hammer to tear down structure around beehive ( bees don’t become agitated plus you gain resources from destroying the structure).
I'm a Valheim veteran (if such a thing exists) but enjoying the video none-the-less! I just got to 5:12 and I wanted to mention if you interact with the stone with the red text it will automatically add the boss icon and text to your map.
This is a nice beginner's guide. It sort of irked me when you built the chopping block on a shelf. I mean, it's supposed to be a thing where you swing your chopping axe down on something, and the block takes the force, so it should be on the floor or outside. But we never see our character actually use it, so what you've done is functionally just fine, and it's a good way to explain the mechanics of how the upgrades need to be connected to the workbench with the dotted line. I guess I'm just worried about it "feeling like" your character lives there!
ohh, CJ, I know! I'm not a huge fan of putting it up there, either! As you say, just wanted to demonstrate how things can be placed if room is tight. :)
Great video as always Lawla! I wish I had something like this when I started the game. I know you love to produce good content so some suggestions for the next episode is how the various things in the game works. Things like how to run, walk, jump, how to stop the auto run when you hit that button when trying to avoid enemies are some things. On some maps you need to learn how to get up a steep hill early int the game. This will become more obvious later in the game but for some players it is important to learn this from start as their world will require it or they will have to swim a lot. And we do know how hard swimming can be in the early days with no stamina... Also, as most of us will die many times it's good to know from start what happens when you die. Why to not keep your inventory full, how the corpse run and no skill drain works etc. All of these things could probably be explained without spoiling the game too much. Stay safe out there! /Bjurran

a mid tip for begginers that many ppl need to know. Trolls are our best friends, specially entering the bronce age, if you see a troll or a troll with a cool stick you most spot a bronce ore and gather the troll close to the bronce, his auto attacks will shatter the bronce allowing you to gatther them, for this you most master the dodge machanicc (a huge huuuuge skill to use), making them work for you to gather minerals and wood. This will save you several minits of farming materials cause the first pickaxe is pretty terrible. Another thing, every time you enter a new age you probably will want to take your dirty, blood soaked viking hands of those cool new armor and waeppons, saddly you most wait my brothers and sisters, cause the thing to create is a better pickaxe and axe to gatther new materials. Hope you find this usefull and may Oddin be with you
Lawla you so BOSS in Valheim. More so than any other game you play. Keep up the Valheim content :) Valheim is still a top 100 game on Steam based on users
Hey i am new to your channel valheim has just finally released on console and ive just started playing it ans i had no idea what to do lol this guide was very thorough and helpful so thankyou for making it
getting beehives can also be done by placing a workbench. then "break down the pieces holding up the beehive. the beehive will then drop to the ground. pick up the wood and the bee. not to mention that keyboard controls can be personalised in settings. my "use" key is F. not E.
Ah yes, the bane of too many adventurers. Logging is DANGEROUS! I really love that. Later on the occasional bop on the head isn't so bad, just funny, but early days? Ouch!
I haven't played Valheim is quite some time (pre-forks next to food icons), but unless they changed things you are not left unarmed opting for the hammer. The torch acts as a club while also applying a burning status. Also the middle mouse button will do an alternate attack, for example fists will do a kick while the dagger alternate is a jumping stab attack. Edit: Not all weapons have an alternate attack. I never played past the second boss, got distracted by other games... after the algorithm threw you at me, Valheim and Ark are gonna eat up a good amount of my upcoming time! 😁
Also with sneaking, the little arrow on the minimap (or the lines occasionally crossing your screen) will indictate which way the wind is blowing, so you can avoid animals smelling you.
@@LawlaLeyshon I hadn't realized it was a myth... it certainly felt like it was true, but that could have been a mix of placebo(ish) effect and dumb luck.
great guide! really love all the information presented. One small things that doesn't really matter that much though is you sounds like you're reading off a script, which you must be doing, but it is strange to listen too. other than that great video keep up the good work!
For the first time I see a training video on Valheim :), all the other streamers of this game just show their passage of this game without telling "how and what to do" in this game. You know, in your training video, I liked your idea "about the first house" for housing. After all, in fact, it is easier for a beginner in this game to take a broken house for housing by repairing it.What to do on the second game day to build "from scratch" your house on the seashore.Simply because having no experience of this game, it will be quite difficult for a beginner to quickly build a house for himself, from scratch. And it is precisely what needs to be built quickly, in a maximum of two days.Yes, let's say I, having a huge experience of the game, can build a good house in one game day, from the very early morning until late at night.BUT no beginner in this game will be able to do exactly that, at best it will take him two days, and building a house, at the initial stage of the game, in two days and due to the limited resources of food, will create you
big problems. The whole difficulty of the initial stage of the game, just lies in the fact that you have to build the first house quickly enough, but without having experience of this game, it's hard enough to do it.Yes, there is a small minus in your idea, the minus is that the first, old, broken house may be small for you, for your equipment, but on the other hand, this house is only needed for the first three or four game days. And then you still somehow, having gained a little experience of this game, you will have to build a normal good house on the shore, at least with an area of 4 by 6 squares (in my experience of the game, this area is just perfect for the first wooden house). And it would be interesting for me to see your training video of your construction of a real first house :).p.s. To be honest, sometimes I myself want to release a whole series of training videos on this game :)), just because I already know this game by heart :), I know EVERYTHING about her.BUT I'm lazy:((, I'm fucking lazy:((and my laziness pisses me off.

To be honest, sometimes I myself want to release a whole series of training videos on this game :)), just because I already know this game by heart :), I know EVERYTHING about it.BUT I'm lazy:((, I'm fucking lazy:((and my laziness pisses me off.Let's say, what is the difficulty for me, to record a video about how to perfectly and correctly build the first good house in Valheim, especially since I have already built such houses twenty times constantly playing this game again. But no, I just silently create a new character in the game, just SILENTLY build a normal house on the second day of the game and continue the game "by myself" further:(. Instead of TELLING beginners what to do in this game and what absolutely not to do.There is no one to force me to tell people something about this game :).And I myself am very weak-willed in order to overcome my laziness :)
Thanks for all the comments! :D I did start filming a tutorial of 'the next size house', so I may release that one in the future of a good, proper starter home, once you know the basics. :)
@@LawlaLeyshonThat's good :), it will be interesting for me to see your tutorial on the construction of the first main wooden house....and after I watch this video, I will definitely start criticizing you, because you "will do everything wrong" :))), for example, you will definitely make the chimney wrong, put the fermentation barrel in the wrong place and will always stumble over your chests, which will be filled with all sorts of junk :))) and all this is only because I have a very harmful, grumpy character :)))
i found it funny when u said to be(e) aware that bees are fussy...on another note, there are 3 things that u should have brought up early on. 1 clubs are the easiest way to get a weapon without crafting an axe or anything else. 2 bows are the first long distance weapon and its uses to get ahold of materials from deer and other things faster then u. 3 spear is used as both a long distance and close range weapon early on. it might seem trivial, but u will get into trouble fast if u dont have something to defend urself with making the club the fast way to get some defense. to evolve u make an axe, bow, spear pending on what u need to catch animals that are faster then u are and/or stronger then u are. (getting killed by a boar is embarrassing). And u will need a lot of materials from those early on animals. hm...when i think about it it seems more like a tip then a guide when mentioning those things....ah well.
Thank you for showing this video. I started the game is I didn't know what I was doing the building aspect is so awkward and easy to mess up from the start and then your left in the dark. The idea of looking for an abandon building is smart cause you can just get the workbench and start repairing the walls and get the roof up and start building other stuff. So you said that you need a fire and a bed. So is this all possible to get done in the first day?
Hi Dave! Glad the video was helpful! Yeah! You should be able to place a bed and a fire in the first day - as long as you are quick about it! It will get easier to figure which order to do things as you play more and more of them game. :)
@@LawlaLeyshon I had started over like 4x to figure how to go about doing it fast. I didn't get it during the day but manage to complete my build middle of the night. LOL your house is just getting progressively more and more laggy the more stuff you put in it. Great guide, I didn't even realize you could press ctrl to move stacks of items.
Hmm I hope my comment was understood the way it was intended. If it was, excellent, but I can see how it could be interpreted negatively. I don't mean optimism is missing from the video, but the reverse. It reminds me of an earlier day of the internet, when people were more real.

Another thing, every time you enter a new age you probably will want to take your dirty, blood soaked viking hands of those cool new armor and waeppons, saddly you most wait my brothers and sisters, cause the thing to create is a better pickaxe and axe to gatther new materials.
Hope you find this usefull and may Oddin be with you
Great tips here, Daniel! Thank you!
Thanks for the detailed guide!
thanks for watching, nayeemred!
Great vid - made me smile :) nice to hear a fellow welshie on youtube too!
Glad you enjoyed, Geoff! 😁
Thanks Lawla! as usual an entertaining video!
Awh, thanks Raymond!
Lawla you so BOSS in Valheim. More so than any other game you play. Keep up the Valheim content :) Valheim is still a top 100 game on Steam based on users
Awhh, thanks Priest Guardian! :D
Great vid, thanks. I haven't played since release but this makes me wanna play again!
Do it, Ed! Do It!!
@@LawlaLeyshon Yeah, why not, what's the worst thing that can happen.
Hey i am new to your channel valheim has just finally released on console and ive just started playing it ans i had no idea what to do lol this guide was very thorough and helpful so thankyou for making it
So glad it was helpful, alex!
getting beehives can also be done by placing a workbench.
then "break down the pieces holding up the beehive.
the beehive will then drop to the ground.
pick up the wood and the bee.
not to mention that keyboard controls can be personalised in settings. my "use" key is F. not E.
ahh, now that is something that I didn't know! I guess people do change their key bindings - I just keep mine as default for every game. Good point!
That was wonderful! Very informative and very helpful!
Glad you enjoyed, Kevin! :D
Awesome tutorial!!! Finally I learnt how to ping the map!!! Uhuuuuuuuu!!! Thanks!!!
Awhh! I'm so glad you learnt something! :D
Ah yes, the bane of too many adventurers. Logging is DANGEROUS! I really love that. Later on the occasional bop on the head isn't so bad, just funny, but early days? Ouch!
Ohh, for sure! I always forget when I start a new character, and I'm like "oh no! I judt took out half my health by letting a tree fall on me!" 🤣
this video was super helpful, thank you.
I'm glad it was, Comadose!
Nice guide!
Thank you so much, Krazykov!
thanks ms lawla this is a very good tutorial
Glad it helped, Aristotle!
thanks so much for this small tutorial :3
you are very welcome, sami!
Apparently, that is a myth! I've not tested it though!
Yes, you are correct about the torch! True true!
@@LawlaLeyshon I hadn't realized it was a myth... it certainly felt like it was true, but that could have been a mix of placebo(ish) effect and dumb luck.
Or one of the changes made with the interim updates.
Super darn helpful!! Thanks love :)
No problem, Ian! Glad to be of service!
Nice video. Learned a lot from it.
Glad it was helpful, Marc!
Great video. Very helpful, thank you.
You are very welcome, mister! Glad it helps!
Great job for beginner, thanx.
Gald it was helpful to you!
great guide! really love all the information presented. One small things that doesn't really matter that much though is you sounds like you're reading off a script, which you must be doing, but it is strange to listen too. other than that great video keep up the good work!
Awh, thanks, BossTwin!
And yes, I was reading from a script! I'd forget to include something otherwise, I think! :)
Best tutorial ever!
Awh, Gary! Thank you so much! Means a lot to me!

Instead of TELLING beginners what to do in this game and what absolutely not to do.There is no one to force me to tell people something about this game :).And I myself am very weak-willed in order to overcome my laziness :)
Thanks for all the comments! :D
I did start filming a tutorial of 'the next size house', so I may release that one in the future of a good, proper starter home, once you know the basics.
Great video! Please make more!
Thanks, Eric!
Can't tell if *_Bee aware_* was said, but I loved the coincidence nonetheless!
haha, thanks, Mr!
i found it funny when u said to be(e) aware that bees are fussy...on another note, there are 3 things that u should have brought up early on.
Still, very useful things to note, Manne! :D
Well done, thank you. New sub
Glad it was helpful to you, Paul!
neing new at this game want to learn about bbuilding
I'll be making some building tutorials soon, so stick around! 😁
Don't name the boars or you'll get attached, today i ate fluffy and becky 🤗
oh no! hahahaha!
Thank you
Pleasure!
I made a video in which I posted on Kage. Not sure if your apart of his discord. I'll be have to watch and support your vids to. I love survival games. Soon will be play Icarus. That game looks challenging and fun. It be on the 23rd when I be getting that game.
great video
Thank you, Peter!
Thank you. Great.

LOL your house is just getting progressively more and more laggy the more stuff you put in it. Great guide, I didn't even realize you could press ctrl to move stacks of items.
If it ain't lagging, you ain't got enough stuff. :P
Glad it was helpful!
sorry for the late reply!
Nicely done :-)
Thank you, Callitags!
Thenx for the info (:
glad it was helpful to you!
This reminds me of an old school computer game or tech tutorial. Genuine optimism is missed.
It's my first ever tutorial, but it is very much noted for the next one! 😊
Hmm I hope my comment was understood the way it was intended. If it was, excellent, but I can see how it could be interpreted negatively. I don't mean optimism is missing from the video, but the reverse. It reminds me of an earlier day of the internet, when people were more real.
@@HarantheBlue Ohh! I see what you mean now! Well, thank you.
"More on that later" but later never comes
Huh. What part was that? I'm sure I didn't leave anything out.
TH-cam captions keep saying you want to build a "ball farm"
Haha! My welsh accent has confused it!
was that you or shield maiden Asgrid!?
good for you!
closing in on 1k :D
thank you, Toblakai!

I just bought valheik. And quest not even showing and that bird
Is Hugin not appearing for you? That is strange.
Do trees grow back?
hey Michael! No, they don't grow back, but there is a way to get them back, but I won't spoilt that for you!
Why are graphics like it's on PS 1?
I think the graphics are better than PS1, but I know what you mean.
Just the artistic direction the studio wanted to go, I'd guess.
Part 2?
I'm gonna be making a "how to defeat the first boss" very soon!
I'll be covering the whole game eventually! 😊
@@LawlaLeyshon thank youuuu

Thank you, Coffeebeans!
why does it look like that its 2022?
It's just the art style of the game. I think it looks great - it distinguishes it from other games.
@@LawlaLeyshon agreed im about 10 hours into it and the graphics totally fit, and there are higher graphical components like the water that blend in with the minecraft level resolution. Im hooked.

Are you welsh? Sounds like you're playing it down a lil for your "stage voice" - which I wouldn't blame ya for, I pronouns would too if I had a YT channel! Not a criticism, just as a fellow Welshie I thought I heard it :)
Only just started the vid but feedback seems excellent in comments so I'm SURE it'll be super helpful, so thanks in advance!
Defintely a welshie, haha!
Gotta make sure everyone understands what I am saying! 😅
@@LawlaLeyshon of course, I totally get it! Thanks for the brilliant and helpful vid.
You mean beginners guide or someone that has never played a game tutorial
There's no real tutorial in this game. It's one where you have to figure stuff out yourself, but a lot of people find that frustrating.
@@LawlaLeyshon was just picking at you for telling how to make a character and name them lmao. It's a nice a tutorial and I enjoyed it though. Thank you.
@@landenbroach384 Ohhh! Right! Haha! Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching! 😊
I see the video is for total noobs who never grasp how to create character in a video game.
There's lots of people who's first game is Valheim. I wanted to cover the game for everyone.
