Haven't seen anyone farm boars yet. You can approach boars and give them berries or mushrooms, you must first bring them to a fenced area and then feed them, it may take a few days to complete. when you have 2 or more and they are tamed and fed they will reproduce. I've got a little farm going and got about 25 boars now.
@@nutbunny10 You approach them and they will attack you, then you run to a fenced area you made prior to finding the boar, once you and the boar are inside, close the gap, make sure there's no torches or campfires near as they hate fire. Now all you have to do is drop 10 berries inside the fenced area and walk away but be in the area. wait a few days and now the boar will be tamed.
You might want to build a chimney over your campfire. Surprising as it is, this game does have smoke physics, so it will go up instead of filling your house.
That happened to my buddy. I loaded into his world to help out and get him an axe made and to start cutting trees and to be careful not to let it fall on you. 30 seconds later he is dead haha
Another useful tip: Use the campfire as a weapon (seriously). This way you can easely defeat the first boss and the skeletons in the crypts. Just place them out and lure them into the fire, and it'll do massive dmg to the enemy.

Pro-tip: falling logs deal damage to other logs that are on the ground. In the meadows, you'll have fine wood tree logs on the ground occasionally, which can be broken and give fine wood if hit by enough logs. Makes getting better equipment early on and recovering from deaths so much easier.
Tip for workbench with less wood: you can do it with 1x wall (behind bench) and 2x 26º roofs (kinda overlapping) this allows the bench to be usable and much less wood
Use a fallen tree to break a birch tree early on, roll it into it until it falls, fine wood from birch trees makes the most op thing in the game, Finewood bow, shoots straighter and does more damage
It's worth mentioning that a campfire can have 2 cooking stations at the same time, if you place them directly opposite of each other. Let's you cook 4 meat at once, instead of 2.
A little suggestion for early gamers. If you roll them down a hill while cutting trees or knock them over each other, they take fall damage. So you can turn them into wood more easily. By the way while rolling, they break down small trees for you and create wood. It's fun to do it :D Thanks for the video.
update: Went and fought the boss shortly after this comment. I'm now noticing some tougher enemies spawning around my base. Been there a couple in game weeks and only ever had graylings around but then after I beat the boss now there are graydwarfs. So I'm thinking defeating the boss changes the spawns a bit so enemies scale up with your progression a bit. Will head out to where I found a troll before, maybe I'll find more.
Helpful tips that I didn't see here: 1. There's no penalty for destroying something you build. If you disassemble it, you get all the materials back. 2. You can find stones really easily if you turn the foliage graphics to the minimum. I don't do it often, but if I really need some stones, it really helps.
Another fun tip: The trees that are 'to hard' for you to cut down at the start? Chop down trees you can near them, and then run against them to push them into the hard trees, best done on a slight hill else you need to push the logs away then back, but in time the hard trees WILL get cut down. Repeat this for the fallen logs as well. Granted the logs you can cut may break first, but just grab some more and resume. or push the hard log against some rocks, and bam. I got early fine wood before beating the first boss. So I can make tables, chairs, the finewood bow (and upp it to rank 3), banners etc. It's a little bit of work but don't take that much time. Now you can EZ Mode though the dark forest, killing trolls easy, and one/two shoting everything else in there (bows is still 14).
i cant even describe how handy this video was to me. I was completely lost after making my base. Now i have a way clearer view on how everything works. Thanks!
I ran around until I found a decent house and fixed it up. It has a rock in the middle but I expanded the walls so it's nice now. It's so satisfying! Thanks for the tips man.
Bought it last night, played for 9 hours in total so far. Gotta say I hope this game gets a lot of attention. Played with 5 friends, all I can say is DONT trust them around tree’s! About to hit the Forest today to. The tips was super helpful espically rested since it confused me a lot, but now I know you turn to a Demi god hah. Great work man.
I totally agree. Normally I like to venture into comments to get additional tips not mentioned in the video or someone elaborating something that was said in the video. But this video is just full of people repeating tips that were said in the video or complaining. Absolutely worthless.
If you aren't opposed to well, pretty much cheating (cheesing the game), here's a cheese method I've found works... 1. Start a different world other than your main. 2. In this different world, build a basic base with chests in the meadow biome near the circle. 3. Rejoin your main world. You now have your "cheese shed." Any time you get in a jam.... abomination has you on the ropes and 3 draugrs are plinking you, and you're at 20 life... just log out. Log into your cheese shed world. Now, just chill out and wait till your life and stamina regenerate. Once you're ready, rejoin your main game and you'll be back in your old situation, but with life and stamina restored. This also works if you are being chased while swimming a long distance. Just keep swapping when you drown down to 15 or so. If it's inevitable you are going to die, then quickly jump to the cheese world, dump all your inventory in the chest, then go back to main. When you die, at least your possessions are safe. And then the cheese shed can be used to store healing potions and karve building materials. So any time you need to load up or get reinforcements, just pop over to the cheese shed. This also works for transporting ore and ingots -- hop out, bank it at the cheese shed, log onto main, teleport back home, hop back to cheese shed, get the ingots, and hop back into main. Easy, you now have everything at home without having to hump it across the map. Plus, you can also just mine all day without concern for maximum weight -- bank it and return, and just keep going until you're ready to go home, and then go retrieve it. I mean, this is an outright exploit/cheat, but if the game is really kicking your butt, this method can make things easier until you up your gear.
I've worried about that happening to my friend and I's home. We fought a troll that had a club before and by the time the fight was over I had destroyed all the surrounding trees. I can only imagine what would happen to the house.
I got this game just this morning. First spawn: swarmed by necks and dead without even being able to talk to Huginn. Welcome to Valheim i guess! 😂 I made a separate world and getting there, lol.
Update. 13 hours in. First boss down, first cave done, found location of boss two, about to craft my smelter and open metal tier weapons. Still say this game rules.
I honestly just discovered today that you could sneak of course I'm not very far into the game itself but it's kind of funny I'm still using the club because I can't figure out how to make anything else and so I've been sneaking up on deer and pounding them to death with my club.
He did not explain in the video a bit of detail about campfires and beds. Campfires have to be placed on the ground. They can not be placed on any structure built, must be on dirt ground. Also keep the fire near your bed. Does not have to be really close but close enough. The bed will not let you sleep without a campfire near. The campfire produces smoke. you can die from the smoke if it builds up. 13:28 he has a floor exposed in his house where he put his campfire. As you can see the smoke is building in his house. You can make a chimney to draw the smoke out. You will need to put a roof slant piece as the topper to block the rain and keep the chimney ventilated. The bed works just like it does in Minecraft. It is used to skip to the next day at night.
FYI, There are sea creatures in the ocean. I was heading to the second boss.....On the raft. next thing I knew a rather large dragon like creature spawns ( like the loch-ness monster) get attacked and he destroys the raft etc...So be warned. Lost ALL my gear (troll hide) etc... I respawned home crying!
People are talking about GPUs and wondering what you need to run it. I run this game on a five or six year old GTX 1050 TI and it runs smooth as butter. If you have anything better than that, don’t worry.
Just got off the game. Killed the first boss, we found the black forest about 10 minutes later. Welp. We found a troll and he just 2 shot us with a tree off a cliff. 10/10.. Next? We got a raft, went up stream where we found him, destroyed him, then found 2 dungeons. Proceeded into the dungeons, defeated 1, hit the next one, then died again to a 2 star skeleton. Woo hoo lol... Welp now we run back, finish up the dungeon, get the cores to make a forge, some copper etc... Hit home, find out we need 2 more cores 🥺🥺🥺. TOMORROW we have to raid more dungeons for core, and die to more trolls so we can make our troll gear. This game is one of those that you say "oh ima just do this right quick"... 2 Hours later you're still ON and getting lack of sleep for works.. lols
Nice, haven’t finished watching this yet, but have already learned more here than from other videos that I have already watched. I’m not going to have to wait until later to thank-you; your tips are already making me more comfortable with buying this game.
Trolls were always there, if you didn’t see any before the deer boss it could be that you took on the boss early or maybe you just didn’t explore deep enough into the forests, the first time I saw one was outside a dungeon but I hadn’t beaten the boss yet
Mind that sneaking takes stamina, and that if you’re seen by something _before_ you start sneaking, it will either be running from you or coming at you already.
Great video, tons of helpful tips here. The trolls do indeed spawn before you kill the Deer boss as well...as I found out this evening when he crushed me in one shot...
When I need a Workbench to repair my Stuff or dismantle buildings I just build the Workbench, put two 2 Meter poles on each side, and put on the double roof thingy. Works great is cheap and It kinda looks cool too.
I spent hours yesterday building new axes to chop wood to build my house around the workbench, I should have watched this video first! Thanks for the content
Trolls are around before the first boss, got bamboozled while staring at the first tin ore I found near a lake at night, suddenly the ground/screen started shaking and when I tried to look around it already hammered down it's giant club and gave me my first death... by mobs, because falling trees/lumber is just as lethal.
You're a lifesaver! Hope they'll add a manual or a more extensive explanation on things (for example gathering wood from small trees would've made such a difference to me in the beginning) in 1.0.
Just started and had no idea what to do, absolutely awesome video, I've took down first boss and going into black forest now, I'm kinda bummed I slept on valheim so long, I'm loving it
It seems like a more balanced and simplified survival game. My biggest problem with those games is offline raiding. Offline raiding is the most unhealthy mechanic i have ever seen because it essentially punishes the player for taking breaks.
Awesome video with tons of great information! I'm just starting the game and I'm sure I'll be watching this video over and over. Chapters would be SUPER helpful. :)
6:25 found that our hours later in game. Yeah one major thing they need fo add in layer is a stat panel so you can see more detail on damage dealt, defense, speed, health/stamina value and regen, etc.
I haven’t even tried it yet, but it’s so easy to do that I reckon it has been patched because a lot of popular streamers and you tubers did this back in the day
Yea, its patched out. However, if you have a friend you can play with, if you go into pvp mode but your friend stays in passive you can level up by attacking them with your desired weapon
Valheim is my most played (on Steam, let's not talk about WoW) game with at least 600 hours in it, this just auto-played after I was looking at your boar pen vid for a design idea, and I hadn't even thought to level axes and stuff by hitting rocks! lol I love how "newb guides" always have little tips for anyone in em in games like these!
Me and my mate made the troll destroy oaks to get fine wood early on in the game before we were able to chop those ourselves. So we crafted some fine bows. 😅
@@neki5526 we play with 5-6 players on our server and we defeated like 6 trolls before we understood how to spawn bosses. We defeated the first boss 6 times in a row after that (without taking any time to rest between them). We always wondered how to advance in technololgy but then boom pickaxes
if you use corner roof pieces, instead of flat roof pieces and angle-walls, you can save a tiny bit of wood and still get the same exposure-coverage. very very early game, or if you're exploring and want to carry less to save more encumbrance for whatever you're trying to gather, that can make a difference. another tip about workbenches on-the-go (or early game) is to stand behind the workbench when placing the two back walls, and put them as close to the workbench as it'll let you. That'll increase the chances that it's not too close to the front of its little "box" and still thinks its too exposed. depending on the terrain, you may still need a couple of extra walls forward for it to realize it's not exposed. and i'm not sure if you get the back walls *too* close to it, if it clips out the back and thinks there's nothing behind it anymore. But placing those back walls first seems to make it easier to make the workbench not too "exposed" to repair stuff with (or make stuff at).
Good guide. It's good to say, troll armor you wear gives a stealth bonus. So, sneaking behind the deer without that armor at the beginning cant be too easy.
Huh, I am surprised one of the start tricks isn't "reuse, recycle". In other words, throw up a workbench and take things apart for components. Also, when exploring new islands, if you find a building (or group of them) use them to build an "away" base. Especially great halls. i have my gates in those
Omg,so glad I found that you are playing Valheim! I just bought the game and had to look up some videos on it. I have been watching your videos from Conan,Ark,7 Days to Die when I play them your my go too. @@preston2636 the video tell you what to do after having a work bench! No idea even how to get to that part let alone what’s after
@@englishmaverick2578 make a hammer then a bench and keep upgrading your base with different items like a fire, bed and chopping block
Okay youre either 9 years old or 35 with a learning disability
When I need a Workbench to repair my Stuff or dismantle buildings I just build the Workbench, put two 2 Meter poles on each side, and put on the double roof thingy. Works great is cheap and It kinda looks cool too.
Came here because for the first night of the game I got grouped by Goblins and died..
For your question about the Trolls. No you dont need to kill 1st boss for them to spawn. they seem to be located near the mountain/meadow border area.
You got me again Sparky. Thanks. Running downstairs to begin the download.
I spent hours yesterday building new axes to chop wood to build my house around the workbench, I should have watched this video first! Thanks for the content
Just started my adventure in Valheim. This video is *perfect* for new players. Super helpful! Thanks, FireSpark.
Trolls are around before the first boss, got bamboozled while staring at the first tin ore I found near a lake at night, suddenly the ground/screen started shaking and when I tried to look around it already hammered down it's giant club and gave me my first death... by mobs, because falling trees/lumber is just as lethal.
Lmfaoo
I made 30 axes so far.... haven't figured out how to make a pickaxe either lol
You're a lifesaver! Hope they'll add a manual or a more extensive explanation on things (for example gathering wood from small trees would've made such a difference to me in the beginning) in 1.0.
Just started and had no idea what to do, absolutely awesome video, I've took down first boss and going into black forest now, I'm kinda bummed I slept on valheim so long, I'm loving it
I'm stuck on getting into the swamp bro, I died between plains and swamp upon first discovering it.
You explain things very well. I've watched a lot of tutorials for Valheim and this one is the best IMO. Great video, keep it up man
It seems like a more balanced and simplified survival game. My biggest problem with those games is offline raiding. Offline raiding is the most unhealthy mechanic i have ever seen because it essentially punishes the player for taking breaks.
I honestly love that I can come to your channel for so many different games for tips.
my friends and i made a hole filled with items we had no idea could be repaired....thank you
Same.. I was just yeeting them into the ocean
Awesome video with tons of great information! I'm just starting the game and I'm sure I'll be watching this video over and over. Chapters would be SUPER helpful. :)
yeah, chapters/timestamps please
Exploiting the leveling system reminds me of elder scrolls. So many exploits!
6:25 found that our hours later in game. Yeah one major thing they need fo add in layer is a stat panel so you can see more detail on damage dealt, defense, speed, health/stamina value and regen, etc.
Just played this game this afternoon. So thank you mate.
You can use the ogres swings to down trees for you. Those who have played don't starve are probably familiar with the concept.
Good advice on sneak attacking the deer, though each time you said "Bam!" I kept finishing off the word "Bambi!"
Thanks for that helpful video.
When taking on a troll I do it in the forest using the troll to take down trees and stones.
so... the beating stones to level up feature has been patched out?
I defeated 2 trolls before doing the first boss, so yeah they spawn before that.
Having a lot of fun with this so far. Your tips are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I don't need to practice on a rock. I have more than enough enemies coming at me while building because I'm right next to the dark forest.
Thanks a bunch bro! The mini-map zoom is a life saver!
Ah, here comes my substitute for Conan
if you use corner roof pieces, instead of flat roof pieces and angle-walls, you can save a tiny bit of wood and still get the same exposure-coverage. very very early game, or if you're exploring and want to carry less to save more encumbrance for whatever you're trying to gather, that can make a difference.
another tip about workbenches on-the-go (or early game) is to stand behind the workbench when placing the two back walls, and put them as close to the workbench as it'll let you.
Great video. I love the detailed explanations
best new player quickstart guide on here! thanks man
Awesome video. I’m totally new to games like this so I was lost for a while
Thank you man! subbed. So excited to start this game. Starting a 16 week diet tomorrow and this game will help me get through it.
I like how I get a valheim ad loading into this video 😂
Fun fact, digging under a copper deposit provides enough cover to use the workbench and with a campfire and bed gives you a comfort level of 4.
Brilliant tips, FYI the trolls were in the forest from the start for me.
Yea, I ran into trolls before beating the boss too. Didn't go near them though haha
You only need 2 sides for your lean-to on the workbench. 3 wall panels total, 1 end and 2 on the back of it, then roof.
im addicted to this game
Trolls are def spawn before the first boss, one chased me down when i barely got into the black forest. Just a friendly FYI
My friend: Starts stabbing me with a spear to improve his level.
Good guide. It's good to say, troll armor you wear gives a stealth bonus. So, sneaking behind the deer without that armor at the beginning cant be too easy.
You sold me on the game when you said I could craft a ho.
Downloaded it yesterday. Looking forward to play it tonight!
I downloaded it and played for 3 hours before bed it was great fun
The workbench circle needs to be WAY bigger.
Build more than one workbench.
subbed because this explained a lot of basic stuff really well. awesome job, keep up the great content!
Great video-heavy on practicality!! thx
For the first one just build the crafting bench between two walls and lay two thatch roofs over top of it
Huh, I am surprised one of the start tricks isn't "reuse, recycle".
I didn’t think to see if you were playing Valheim, thanks so much you give so detailed videos ,helpful and clear. Thanks so much!💕💕
oh my... if i knew the sneaky knife thing to get deers...
I´ll will never talk about how i killed them first... xD
did u drown them 😳😳😳
Just bought the game tonight. This video was a LOT of help! Thank you!
