Welcome to Ren. He's Welsh but spent many years living and busking in England. You've discovered the best artist in a generation - rapper, singer, multi-instrumentalist, lyricist, composer, producer, actor (in his videos), director/co-director (of his videos), and just an all around good guy. The story he tells at the end of this is true and only scratches the surface of the hell h's been through - he thought he was going to be dead by the age of 30 because of his illness and has only had some improvement over the last few years. He recently returned to the U.K. after 18 months+ of medical treatment in Canada, performed his first live show in 5 years, and unfortunately got the news that one of the infections he's been battling is still active. He's returning to Canada to receive probably another 8 months of intensive treatment. Ren's an independent artist, so he doesn't have to fit into a mass-marketed product and you never know what you're going to get, from story-telling/"bardcore", to classical piano, to hip-hop, to lounge singing. Nonetheless, his latest album, "Sick Boi" hit #1 on the U.K. charts and landed on the Billboard Top 200. A lot of his videos (like this one) are live recordings and shot guerilla style (he got kicked out of this location after 4 attempts at this video). I try to warn all reactors new to Ren, there's a very popular trilogy put together into a single video, "The Tale of Jenny & Screech" 13 minutes, 32 seconds long. The three videos are available separately, but they're meant to be watched in a specific order and all together, so DON'T watch "Jenny's Tale", "Screech's Tale", or "Violet's Tale" as separate videos. I should also warn you that this trilogy is about some very ugly, but very real, subjects and can be triggering if you've experienced violence or abuse of any sort.

Hi REN in and of itself is in my opinion a masterpiece. Something very special and real. We are thirsty for reality in a world of appearances. Something with which a lot of people can identify because whether it be self doubt, anxiety, health issues we all at one point or another fighting ourselves in trying to find resolution. One of my favourite Ren songs personally is How to be me (live) with Chinchilla. It talks about the state he was in when being sick and medicated and having lost to suicide a dear friend named Joe. I’m pretty sure other Renegades will pitch in with details about REN’s battle with chronic Lyme disease and Bartonella co-infection.

I just saw your Hi Ren reaction, and put this journal entry of Ren's as my comment to that reaction. ~~~~~~jAN 01, 202~~rEN~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Up until I was 9 years old, I would intermittently hear a voice in my head that was not my own. The voice was distinctly different to mine, and always negative. It would self criticize or urge me to do things I knew to be morally wrong. The most peculiar thing about the voice was that it took no effort on my behalf to produce. My own thoughts always felt like there was a process that required effort to bring them to the forefront of my mind, this voice appeared as though it was spoken by another. The sentences felt predetermined like they had already been constructed. I remember very vividly at 9 years old, becoming very frustrated with the voice. I stood in my back yard, internally screaming at the voice to be silent again and again, and it did. In a flash there was silence, to the point where my head felt like an empty room. I wasn't used to the quiet and that voice never returned. It almost felt lonely in my head. When I got older I had intermittent bouts with auditory hallucinations where I would hear perfect symphonies, usually at night when drifting off to sleep. They were so clear that they sounded like they were emanating from a radio in the corner of my room. I knew they weren't there, but for some reason they never came with the feeling of fear. I also recall sitting on a bus at the age of 15, and hearing the sound of a crowded room, with about 100 voices chattering away, I was the only person apart from the driver on the bus. These experiences were always very brief, and few and far between. My last hallucination was during an intense bout of psychosis in 2015, and was my first visual hallucination. I was walking down a pavement after jumping out my mums car in a crossroads in a moment of frustration and distress with my condition. I was trying to run from myself. What appeared to be a homeless man with a dark complexion approached me, and asked me what was wrong. I explained that I had been sick most my life, and I wasn't sure I had the strength to continue. He looked at me, and smiled and told me 'everything is going to be okay in the end Ren.' I had not told him my name. There was something so overpoweringly sincere about this very simple message, which brought with it an overwhelming feeling of inner peace, and in a flash, he vanished. My rational brain always linked these experiences to what the doctors have told me, that there are parts of my brain compromised by the autoimmunity in my body. That the myelin sheaths surrounding the complex electrical system that conduct my thoughts were damaged and compromised, causing these lucid experiences that I knew did not exist inside the physical world. The part of me that edges away from logical and rational thought always attributed these thoughts to some kind of otherworldly intervention, that made my thoughts the battleground of some spiritual tug of war. For a long time I never really acknowledged this part of myself, for with it brought the danger and stigma of sounding like a crazy person. I decided with my latest release, to the best of my ability, to capture and express this chess match of thought. Hi Ren comes out in just over 24 hours. I can't wait for you all to hear it.

I've watched hundreds of reactions at this point and yours is one of my favorites that I've seen in a LONG TIME. The early ones were great bc you know they didn't know who he was. And it's not a song but his five-minute video Defining Success will tell you in a nutshell who he is and why his fans are so enthusiastic; worth a reaction or a private watch early in your Ren journey. Some tips (and these are all offered with a helpful smile, no criticism/judgment intended!): the music video is much louder than your speaking voice, which echoes a bit in your room, making it harder for us to hear the thoughts we're here to listen to. You can sit closer to your device mike (and perhaps place some pillows or other sound absorption behind the device); or use a separate mike or headset with mike. There are probably also settings on your screen recording software to help equalize the audio. Final tip: look up "Keyboard shortcuts for TH-cam" for lots of ways to make controlling the playback easier. When Ren came into my life over a year and a half ago with this song it was all I listened to for months, literally multiple times a day in addition to multiple reactions. I think of the 2 sides of Ren as the Protagonist ( who we root for, the one who is on the “ hero’s journey “) and the Antagonist ( who is snarky and antagonistic, always poking him in his weak spots . But it’s also the part that is necessary because without it what would/ could the protagonist have to defeat. Ren is many things ( aside from a true artistic genius and honestly one of the most authentic, vulnerable, and genuinely beautiful human being). Storyteller: The Tales of Jenny and Screech ( FULL 13 minute version), Money Game 1, 2 ( lyric video) and 3. Singer Songwriter: literally anything from the suggestions by my fellow Renegades Rap/ Hip Hop: Again, Renegades have probably already bombarded you with suggestions. Thank you so much for your reaction and for supporting Ren,his accent is pretty much just a normal British accent(regional variations aside) but hopefully you manage to follow most of the lyrics,i'd recommend always keeping the subs turned off anyway,as they're trash on most of his video's and are more likely to confuse you than actually help. I just saw your Hi Ren reaction, and put this journal entry of Ren's as my comment to that reaction.

Up until I was 9 years old, I would intermittently hear a voice in my head that was not my own. The voice was distinctly different to mine, and always negative. It would self criticize or urge me to do things I knew to be morally wrong. The most peculiar thing about the voice was that it took no effort on my behalf to produce. My own thoughts always felt like there was a process that required effort to bring them to the forefront of my mind, this voice appeared as though it was spoken by another. The sentences felt predetermined like they had already been constructed.
I remember very vividly at 9 years old, becoming very frustrated with the voice. I stood in my back yard, internally screaming at the voice to be silent again and again, and it did. In a flash there was silence, to the point where my head felt like an empty room. I wasn't used to the quiet and that voice never returned. It almost felt lonely in my head.
When I got older I had intermittent bouts with auditory hallucinations where I would hear perfect symphonies, usually at night when drifting off to sleep. They were so clear that they sounded like they were emanating from a radio in the corner of my room. I knew they weren't there, but for some reason they never came with the feeling of fear. I also recall sitting on a bus at the age of 15, and hearing the sound of a crowded room, with about 100 voices chattering away, I was the only person apart from the driver on the bus.
These experiences were always very brief, and few and far between.
My last hallucination was during an intense bout of psychosis in 2015, and was my first visual hallucination. I was walking down a pavement after jumping out my mums car in a crossroads in a moment of frustration and distress with my condition. I was trying to run from myself. What appeared to be a homeless man with a dark complexion approached me, and asked me what was wrong. I explained that I had been sick most my life, and I wasn't sure I had the strength to continue. He looked at me, and smiled and told me 'everything is going to be okay in the end Ren.' I had not told him my name. There was something so overpoweringly sincere about this very simple message, which brought with it an overwhelming feeling of inner peace, and in a flash, he vanished.
My rational brain always linked these experiences to what the doctors have told me, that there are parts of my brain compromised by the autoimmunity in my body. That the myelin sheaths surrounding the complex electrical system that conduct my thoughts were damaged and compromised, causing these lucid experiences that I knew did not exist inside the physical world.
The part of me that edges away from logical and rational thought always attributed these thoughts to some kind of otherworldly intervention, that made my thoughts the battleground of some spiritual tug of war.
For a long time I never really acknowledged this part of myself, for with it brought the danger and stigma of sounding like a crazy person.
I decided with my latest release, to the best of my ability, to capture and express this chess match of thought.
Hi Ren comes out in just over 24 hours.
I can't wait for you all to hear it.

I've watched hundreds of reactions at this point and yours is one of my favorites that I've seen in a LONG TIME. The early ones were great bc you know they didn't know who he was. By now, those experienced in the reaction community have heard of Ren and they're ACTING like they haven't but there's no way a person can watch this video and not be dumbstruck. I would recommend that you listen to the Trilogy: The Tale of Jenny and Screech + Violet's Tale. Be aware that it is an emotional journey and he speaks about some violent things that nobody deserves. Ren is a performance artist. You will see how he lives each story in his songs. After the Trilogy, check out Chalk Outlines featuring Chinchilla. And it's not a song but his five-minute video Defining Success will tell you in a nutshell who he is and why his fans are so enthusiastic; worth a reaction or a private watch early in your Ren journey.
Some tips (and these are all offered with a helpful smile, no criticism/judgment intended!): the music video is much louder than your speaking voice, which echoes a bit in your room, making it harder for us to hear the thoughts we're here to listen to. You can sit closer to your device mike (and perhaps place some pillows or other sound absorption behind the device); or use a separate mike or headset with mike. There are probably also settings on your screen recording software to help equalize the audio.
Final tip: look up "Keyboard shortcuts for TH-cam" for lots of ways to make controlling the playback easier. My fave is simply left arrow key x3 or more to rewind a few seconds before resuming after a pause. Cheers! ❤🎉❤

When Ren came into my life over a year and a half ago with this song it was all I listened to for months, literally multiple times a day in addition to multiple reactions. I think of the 2 sides of Ren as the Protagonist ( who we root for, the one who is on the “ hero’s journey “) and the Antagonist ( who is snarky and antagonistic, always poking him in his weak spots . But it’s also the part that is necessary because without it what would/ could the protagonist have to defeat.
Ren is many things ( aside from a true artistic genius and honestly one of the most authentic, vulnerable, and genuinely beautiful human being).
Storyteller: The Tales of Jenny and Screech ( FULL 13 minute version), Money Game 1, 2 ( lyric video) and 3.
