@@Scribeoflife I LOVED the song, so far I haven’t cried to any of rens music, the only music I’ve ever cried to/from is Parker jack (some rough times back in 6th-7th grade)
Never apologize for emotions. I'm a 54 year old, long haired biker type and this song makes me cry EVERY single time. Music is powerful, especially when EVERYONE can relate so deeply. Everyone has that battle with themselves at some point. Keep up what you are doing, I just found your channel today and am subscribing. I'm glad you are here, and I'm proud of you too.
Hey 47 year old long haired biker in UK. Well said Mike. Same here, I want to hug everyone I see reacting to this song. And yes James Blunt Monsters is a must for any one. Get the tissues ready. Also Alterbridge, In loving memory gets me too.
I think the line "Some know me as hope. Some people know me as the voice you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope" is one of the most powerful lyrics I've ever heard and you shouldn't apologize for how that line hit your heart. I can't get it out of my mind. Bless you.
Agreed. As well as the line "In the Gallows, I'm balanced on my toes so I can breathe." From Chalk Outlines are some of his most powerful lyrics he's written. And he's written a lot of them lol.
Agreed. That’s the line where the tears start flowing for me, too…my heart feels like it’s going explode…it lasts til the very end of the poem at the end of the song. Ren is brilliant. Edit: In truth, the tears start to gather, and my heart starts to hurt, w the line, “I was made to be tested and twisted…” By the time he stands on his own 2 feet and then talks about being known as hope, I’m crying. And when he starts to sing, it’s game over. And don’t get me started on the loosening of the noose on the rope. The guy is brilliant. And he gets it. He knows. Knowing there are people out there who understand is comforting. He really is Hope.
Its the "I go many names also" We hear of so many names for lucifer and the devil that wed tend to forget that we have just as many words for hope and positivity and faith.
"When you leave the theater wanting to discuss the play, that's a good play. When you leave the theater wanting to discuss your life and the world, that's art." David Mamet
I've watched this video an uncountable amount of times including an uncountable amount of reaction videos and it hits me hard every single time. I'm a grown ass man and this brings tears to my eyes every time, even more so when a content creator doing a reaction gets emotional as well. The message of his song is so POWERFUL! The fact that Ren hasn't won some sort of award for this song is astounding.
I love when he starts to sing - "So cower at the man I've become When I sing from the top of my lungs That I won't retire I'll stand in your fire inspire the meek to be strong " that part of the song is so strong emotionally. I've watched this 50+ times and it still moves me.
Really quick, before I go through all of the comments from today, here and on other videos. I just wanted to thank all of you for your kind words.. Seriously... Music in many ways brings so many people together and also makes us feel less alone in such a BIG world.. I hope today you were able to find a reason to smile. laugh... hell.. if you needed to... cry even... We got this.. We will always have this.. and we will ALWAYS conquer this. HUGS to all of you, my friends 🫂
Great to see Ren reaching reactors, like yourself, who take genuine inspiration and ultimately kinship from Hi Ren. His 'Jenny and Screech Tale (Full version)' is amazing...difficult subject matter but incredible 3 part in one-take performances. To lighten the mood, I recommend some inspiring ladies of rock...kick off with a nice gothic, creepy MV (on 8mm film), song 'Rinne' (pronounced Reen-Eh...means reincarnation) by Band-Maid. If you like that, then their 'Play' Official Live is another must-see. Great musicians and the gothic style of my favourite singer Saiki...got me through covid 😁 Reactions or just your own enjoyment, either way...wishing you well from the UK 👍
Hi slashley new sub here and you had my heart strings going 😢 I’m very PROUD of you too! And you should be too! THANK YOU for such a beautiful reaction. Stay strong! Be you! And never stop fighting, the struggles are real and your not alone x
Greatful for pain for I wudnt Kno the levels that joy has even during pain...!!! I love you I see you an am so proud your part of the sound Trac that is my life!! New sub!! ✌🏼💗😊
I've lost count how many times I've listened to this song. Both alone and in reaction videos. I flat out bawl every time,. Even when I watched 3 hours of reaction videos in a row. It's so cathartic for me
Ren has helped me a lot. I’ve cried through songs, but worth it. I struggle with Bipolar, depression, ADHD, and OCD. I’m ill and I’ve come to terms with that. I struggle to hold on, but I do. He’s so relatable for me.
Don't apologise for crying. I am a British woman of nearly 70 years old and cry every single time I watch this video by Ren. I truly believe this young master was sent by a higher power to help humanity. His words and observations are truly remarkable and relatable and will go down in history!
I am from Brazil, English isn't my first language, however you don't need to understand all this, the video and voice tone is a huge part to making me cry every single time and watch it. You got 1 more sub, who doesn't cry might be little broken 😢❤
Dude, never apologize for showing emotion…that’s why we’re here, to find other people that feel a connection to something that was special to us. I’ve watched the Hi Ren vid 30 times and haven’t made it through once without at least tearing up. You are doing a fucking stellar job and I can’t wait for you to put out more! 🖤
If this video doesnt leave someone crying and speechless...I dont think they have emotions and dont wanna hear their opinion. I get mad at the reactioners that cut away and edit out their actual reactions. The crying is your reaction and the true one. I am 54 yr old male and Im obsessed with Ren atm ...inspired, because of this video, Ive seen Hi Ren almost 50 times by now and it still gets to me.
@@yarbafett 58 year old male here...exactly. I've probably seen it more than 100 times now, and I can get through the actual song now without crying, but when I see a reactor showing such emotion, I'm right back there wiping the tears away.
Young lady, I have listened to this at least 50 times now. You made ME cry when your emotions run free. It was beautiful. You said, "I may look crazy doing it, but, um, I mean what's wrong with some crazy, you know?" Such an honest and sincere, even raw and emotional thing to say. If that was crazy, then I am ALL IN for it. Remarkable. You touched a deep nerve within me. As many times as I have listened to this, you helped me feel something in a new, different, and unexpected way. Thank you for your beautiful reaction to this incredible work of art.
@@SlashleySlays That's what made your reaction so fantastic. The honesty of it. When he said "some people call me hope" you can see the impact it had on you....beautiful
@@SlashleySlays Nothing wrong with a raw reaction, especially to a song as raw as Hi Ren. I basically reacted the same way (and still do) simply because of how the song hits, going from dark depression, over elation, to a more somber, realistic (but hopeful) note...it's heart wrenching and joyful.
It's fairly rare for someone to watch this and not be moved. There's a reason this has almost 10 million views in just a few months - it captures a part of the human experience that we all deal with to one degree or another. This work of art reminds us that we're not alone in these struggles - you are not alone.
@SlashleyReacts you reacted so genuinely! You are wonderful and that was an amazing reaction. Never be sorry for feeling when a wonderful piece of art moves you. Keep being beautiful and unique!
I'm new here, but I have watched this video many times and many reaction videos to it, and yours is by far the most real! I cry every time I see it and especially when I see someone else's reaction to it.. Ren is a Genius, he has managed to put into words, emotions, and actions what we all "struggle with" every day.. I am very proud of you!
yeah I think him commenting on a load of reactions and seeing he has close to amillion subs now, and had like half of that a few months ago, and all the thousands of comments saying how this song moved them, I think he's got a pretty good idea
This is one of the greatest music performance tracks I've ever heard. Ren is a genius. He's somehow managed to put down EXACTLY what mental health is - truly amazing.
Yeah, it's mental health and health in general... for me it tied in perfectly with a misdiagnosed disorder that affects physical/ cognitive/ immune system. Plus misdiagnosed mental health issues which turned out to be autism. Another theme that comes up again and again is the "imposter syndrome" almost all my friends and family suffer, and Ren helped them find the language and tap into the emotions and sway with the dance. I love that everyone can find a message/ theme in Hi Ren that's personal to them or a loved one. It's such a powerful tool to cut down mental roadblocks and language roadblocks that keep feelings at a distance.
This is literally what happens everyone who listens to this song it's powerful as hell. Whatever you went though I hope you can work through it but I think Ren is helping a lot of people see their own struggles because he's making his so public and honest.
I’m 55 years old, and I cried watching YOU cry. You experienced this song EXACTLY as I think it’s best experienced; through the lens of empathy. I’ve now watched dozens of reactions to this song - and I otherwise never watch reaction videos - and yours is the most empathetic reaction by far. It’s a strong recommendation for your humanity.
I’ve never seen this, heard this. I didn’t even know he existed until yesterday and this is my first time seeing him. And I have to tell you how much of a comfort it was to watch this “with” someone who’s tears started at the same moments of the song that it really hit me. Humanity shared. It is good. Don’t ever change. ❤ Man this guy REN is an actual genius isn’t he? Wow! This song is going to be stuck with me for a while.
Great reaction my friend don't worry about crying to this video it makes a lot of people cry it has a great message we are all human love and respect from the UK 👍👍👍👍👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
I’m 58, I was luck to have been part of music in the 80’s and 90’s , it has always stayed in my soul. This song is the most incredible song I have ever heard ❤️
What a beautiful reaction. You're not the first one to cry and you won't be the last. Ren has a way of reaching out and touching your soul like no one I have heard from in a very long time.
Ren's performance is raw, beautiful, and brilliant. His message is strong and has reached so many people, I'm grateful for it. Deep breath. Never apologize for feeling. I'm happy you are here and I'm proud of you, too. You got this.
What you said at the end resonates with Ren's closing message too. "We must not forget, we are human beings" and how that dance between the light and dark is what makes us human. It's a dance we all are learning
Anyone NOT moved by this song is not someone I want to know. I've watched literally hundreds of reactions to Hi Ren and yours was great! I'm subscribing to your channel for your honesty, openness and intelligence. P.S. - Watch more Ren. He has a HUGE variety of music styles, I'm sure you'll love a lot of it.
Never ever apologize for feeling. There’s a reason so many people resonate with this song? Performance? Art piece? We are all human beings. We’re proud of you too
Ren has touched to many people with his music especially this song / art and has baught people from all walks of life and all ages together because we all have struggles and can relate. Dont worry this song has made pretty much all of us shed a tear or 2 lol You have just touched the surface of Ren and i hope you continue to do more of his music, he has so many styles and every song he does is amazing. You could check out Sick boi which is kinda a follow up, and also the trilogy of Jenny and Screech (make sure its the full one not indicidule ones if you do as its a whole story/performace.) Pick any Ren track and you wont be dissapointed.
@@SlashleySlays aww well at least it shows how great his performance is I’m sure you will enjoy alot of his other work too and don’t worry not all of them will make you cry haha
@@SlashleySlays Quite understandable. I've seen perhaps 60 or 70 reaction videos for this video and I still tear up most of the times. For me, a genuine and heartfelt reaction gives me hope for humanity; I think it's a very human thing to react like you did, and I want to thank you for not cutting away from it but rather let your emotions show. There's great power in being sensitive.
Finally someone's reaction that gets what this song is really about. My son sent me this song about a year ago saying mom this is me. He struggles with depression and bipolar. And has been hospitalized more than once. I cried so hard. But, it also have me insight on the chaos that goes on in his brain. The end when Ren stated his story it was a mirror image of my son. Still makes me cry but he has learned to cope with who he is now. Although, I'll never stop worrying.
Welcome to the RENaissance. ❤ Ren is a truly talented musician, songwriter, and storyteller. For more emotional content with some haunting singing, you should check out Chalk Outlines ft Chinchilla (live). For a dive into his storytelling and guitar greatness, then try The Tale of Jenny & Screech (full). Make sure it's the full, as it was originally released in three parts. He also does some great hiphop/rap tracks with some ferocious flow and wondrous wordplay: Losing It. The Hunger. What You Want. Power. Genesis. And his last two releases both go hard; Sick Boi, and Illest of Our Time. But his entire catalog is full of absolute gems so feel free to browse. ~ Peace
I've seen this song make loads of people cry. You're not alone. Over seen it a hundred times, and I cry every time. It speaks to everyone, because everyone struggles with something. From depression and anxiety, to self doubt. When you check out his older stuff, bring tissues. I recommend How To Be Me (live) next. It's amazing.
Don’t apologize for crying, I’m 54 and rarely ever cry and this song gets me every time… I absolutely connect with this song. As well as many others here.
Wait ... weren't you supposed to feed us with profound insights and unique observations (about a music video that most of us have probably seen more times than Ren has at this point LOL?) No. Stop. Your reaction was as authentic and human as any I've seen. Besides, if I'm a talented artist, I'm going to choose making people cry over making people describe shit ... ALL DAY LONG. So thank you for having the courage to share your vulnerable moments with a bunch of strangers on the internet.
Reactions like these are why I've binged "Hi Ren" reactions over the past week. That honest feeling of emotion this evokes, that feeling of thinking "I'm not the only one." These reactions allow me to experience that feeling all over again. It's a provides a wonderful catharsis (my SAT word for the day) that I can't get enough of.
49 year old woman here. I absolutely love this song because it speaks to me. I’ve dealt with anxiety/ depression for the better part of my life and I’m just so thankful it’s much more open to talk about now. Just know your emotions are genuine because you feel it. I don’t know you but I love you. You have a mom if needed in SC.
As someone who should (by all rights) not be here anymore, this song hit me like a semi-truck, and still does countless times later, so you have no need to apologise, lass. I'd go so far as to say that exact emotional response and borderline speechlessness is the purest response a work of art like this can receive.
I am glad I stumbled upon this video. I’m 58 & I cried too. Just remember, whatever your situation is: things could ALWAYS BE WORSE. Every day I have that thought, so I’m grateful for the “little things”. Everything is a blessing
I’m glad you finally let go. You were so stoic through so much of that, I was afraid of the tsunami coming when the dam broke. I’m so glad you were one of the people that this art touched
@@SlashleySlays i'd suggest watching the two duets with Chincilla first, they're meaningful but a bit softer. Jenny and Screech is great storytelling but a tough watch. I found it tough to watch you cry but found your reaction genuine and real and that's the biggest compliment I can pay you
I am proud of you for not only making it through that reaction, but opening up and sharing with your audience the struggles that you have. Ren has a way of touching your soul, and even though I've watched the song and reactions to it literally hundreds of times, it still hits me every single time, especially when I see the vulnerability of the reactors as they watch. You are not alone! Blessings to you!
I will say that I responded just as strongly as you did. A friend sent this to me, randomly, on a night where I was drinking alcohol alone. I was bawling. I watched it so many more times and sent it to all of my friends. It still makes my eyes water everytime I listen to this song. I learned more about Ren as well. He was diagnosed with Lime disease, and was unable to even walk for years. That was the significance of him standing up at the end when his positive, strong, and triumphant return happens. I absolutely love this song. It is by farm my favorite song ever... Know you aren't alone in your struggle, your fight. So many people feel just like you do listening to this song.
This is literally like the 30th reaction to this song I've seen after already seeing it 30 times on my own. I cried along with you. I have yet to listen to this and not be struck into tears.
Don't apologize, I cried too. Ren is so authentic and caring himself, he pulls that out of us too. His journey was so long and traumatic, and it so wonderful to see him finally achieving his dreams. Watch the Jenny and Screech trilogy. He has a very large catalogue, and he can do almost anything. A creative genius and a force of nature. Thank you for your excellent reaction.
Your emotions are valid.. YOU are valid. It's okay to cry I totally cry every time I listen to this song.... Don't be sorry be silly, it's like Ren says... We must NOT forget we are human. ❤ And also thank you because I needed to hear that someone's proud of me for once. I appreciate you
This was a beautiful reaction video. So real and raw, and exactly how this song hit me the first time I heard it. I have had 2 of the hardest weeks of my life, and discovering Ren during this time has helped me more than I can ever trluy put into words. I was so dark, and I feel so much lighter now than I had. This old goth gets it, he really does.
This is a beautiful work of art, and your reaction is/was (as has been said) powerful, honest, and from the heart and soul. Thank you for sharing, and thank you for being the person you are.
I have watched many Ren reacts videos as I am a big Ren fan. But I absolutely love yours. You got me crying, watching your tears. Your reaction was raw and real. Your words were authentic, valuable, sweet and sincere. Keep it up Sistar, just be yourself as you are perfect just the way you are. I was a goth in the early 80s and so loved that you dabbed your teary make-up with a black handkerchief - a perfect goth moment. You've captured my heart. Thank you. ❤
this hit me in the heart... hard... thank you so much... and i really hope those tears were good tears.. and even if they weren't that's ok too.. biggest of hugs to you if that's ok!
What a joy to watch this. I’m a little obsessed with reaction videos to ‘Hi Ren’ as it’s literally a masterpiece in so many ways. Yours especially touched me at 9:42it hit you just as it hit me. The total relatability, the pain we carry, the empathy, understanding and inspiration too of REN’s genius. Thank you so much for your wonderful creativity, it’s truly appreciated by so many. You have a new sub. ☺️
This kid is indeed a genius. And I have cried a few times already listening and watching him. I am a 62 years old man and I respect him deeply. And you have just shown us how human you are too. Take care.
I felt like I was punched in the gut the first time I heard this song and shed tears MANY listens later. Still do sometimes but mainly now it's when it hits reactors like it did me. I don't want to see anyone cry but I seek out reactors who got it the way I and so many people do. Ren can do all genres of music. Some fun and some that really hit you in the feels. "Chalk Outlines"with Chinchilla is another that hit me like this. Check that out and literally all of his other stuff. Dude is a master storyteller and he can RAP rap. Peace and strength to you.
Never apologise for having emotions; for being human. This piece of performance art is raw, authentic, and powerful. That it affected you so deeply is a sign of its power to connect; and also a sign that you understand it. That you grok it. You have heard your inner critic, just like Ren; and you know what it means when he sings about his struggles. "And I have many names also : some people know me as Hope / Some people know me as the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope. " This hits so hard.
I so appreciate your honest emotion. Thank you. I'm retired airborne, my body is pretty scarred up, but the PTSD and depression sucks. I was crying right along with you
What an amazing reaction. This may be the best song/performance/piece of art I have ever heard and knowing others react the same makes us all feel a little more normal.
Don't worry Darlin, this song hits this way to all of us. I've watched it a thousand times and a thousand different reactions and I still get choked up every time.
I have been on a marathon watching reactors speaking on Ren’s music since I discovered it. I don’t recall any artist ever making me feel so connected to people from different walks of life. Everytime it gets to the bit where Ren talks about hope, particularly “the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope” I tear up. Every single time. Then the part at the end where he finds acceptance that he has these two sides and learns to dance with his darkness instead of fighting it…I’m in the struggle and trying to learn how to dance like this myself at 38 years old. I know Ren has inspired me to start reaching out for help where I’ve been neglecting myself for so long. If he’s had that affect on me I have to assume he’s had it on others also. It’s nice to meet you, I appreciate the kindness you project with your channel. Thanks for reacting to this. Good luck with everything you do.
Thank you for such a sincere reaction. Don't ever apologize for your emotions. Several people around the world have reacted in the same way because Ren's masterpiece is also so sincere, emotional, and relatable! You are doing a great job and we love your reactions!
Your reaction shows how powerful this piece is. I shared this video with a lot of people, using ‘powerful’ as the word to describe it. It destroyed me. One reactor said ‘I’ll never be the same.’ It makes a lot of other music seem silly and irrelevant. Thanks for being vulnerable in doing this reaction.
@@SlashleySlays I do as well but mostly in others reactions, it hit me harder than anything ive ever listened to in my guts, I commented a huge comment up above or down below umm lol no pun intended, whichever way the older comments land for you. But quite simply I watch others reacting to this for their first time because it is so amazing to me how alone I felt years ago to watch people watching the same thing and knowing that we all go through some insane struggle one way or the other, and that we all have to fight to keep going. And how rare it is that I see someone as beautiful as you are also be empathetic and able to see that struggle within you as the rest of us .. not that your outside beauty has anything to do with it, just that most people that I have seen on youtube, twitch so on and so forth, don't portray themselves honestly and with as much feeling and empathy.. which is why i stated in my other comment your outer beauty is only brightened by your inner.
15:00 - Didn't realise how much I needed this right now. I'm a week post-surgery, dealing with a massive infection, in pain, bedbound by chronic health issues and now on my 4th procedure in the last few months, with - in all likelihood - a much bigger and riskier one needed because of the complications I'm having. I'm exhausted, sick, in constant pain and struggling to keep pushing forward right now, and maybe it's stupid, but just hearing some random person telling me that they're glad I'm here and they're proud of me when it feels like I have nothing buoying me up right now... thank you.
I have seen many reacts to this song. Yours was close to how I felt when I first saw this video. Thank you for saying you're proud of "me". I needed that. I'm proud of you too!
I think the best tribute to a musician, Artist, or Actor is to be moved by their performance....And for Musicians we rarely get moved like this...Seems, our musicians may be able to get us up and dancing or to shake a fist in the air violently but few can move us as Ren just did....He makes us cry but also makes us think about humanity and ourselves...Its truly a talent for someone who can reach deep inside himself and weave a one man performance in such a way that we sit staring and listening totally transfixed to his every word.
Even as an old metalhead from several generations back, when personal expectations were more compressed and even keel was the expected norm, this song is impressive as hell. We are not our struggles. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for your empathy and heartfelt reaction. I'm a 56 yo man with a mohawk and I bawl like a baby at many of Rens songs. They touch you in a way that few things can, but that shared experience with all of us who are falling down the Ren rabbit hole is cathartic. Knowing you are not alone and recognising that our darkest moments are part of what it means to be human is a liberating thing that can really help, and you don't need to look far to see that Rens messages and experiences are saving lives. Ren is an absolute prodigy of almost any genre. I hope you choose to see more of what he does, he can sing like an angel, tell a tale like a troubadour of old times and Rap like he was born spitting bars. If you are prepared for the emotions, check Ren and chinchilla , either 'I forgot how to be me (live)' or 'chalk outlines' (live). Beautiful haunting music that will be with you for ever. If you want to lighten it up, check out 'Losing it' . A personnel fave is 'Blind eyed', but watch this version as its not on any ren sites so people often miss it and its simply the best: th-cam.com/video/6z7ug3B_Sts/w-d-xo.html Your genuine reaction has earned you a well deserved sub from me.
I have watched this piece of emotional art over the time it's been available over a thousand times , both the video it's self and the reactions to it, and I still can't get through it without water pouring involuntarily down my face. Watching reactors from all walks of life and from all the corners of this pearl we live on react in exactly the same way makes me realise that despite everyone trying to put everyone and them self's in tiny boxes we are all one , no different to anyone else. Piece and love to one and all x
Sweetheart.....I am a Momma and a Nana and I am proud of YOU. Ren just perfectly expressed such human feelings we can relate to on such a deep level, and in a way I have neeeeever heard before. Soooo real, and so true and raw. What an impressive musical and lyrical genius he is. How fortunate we are to have experienced his music and message. And likewise, thank you for being here with your raw emotions so we can also feel human and have a connection to you, and to others. It's cathartic, I think, that we've had such a visceral reaction to this. And it stays with us....in a good way. Hugs to you.
I love the laugh to try not to cry thing. That's what I do all the time. Really appreciated your reaction. I'm happy you're here too. Thanks for your words
Never be ashamed of your emotions. That is your true heart and soul showing through. I loved your reaction and I as a 58 year old male cried right along with you. Earned a like and a sub.
If showing emotion is crazy; then you're my kind of crazy. It was a wonderfully heartfelt reaction - be proud that you recorded and shared it :) As a few others have mentioned; check out the Tales of Jenny and Screech (full trilogy video) next if you want more Ren
I have gone down the Ren rabbit hole and watched probably 20+ reactions. Yours was very authentic. I loved it. Never been to your channel before but Ren has brought a lot of people together through his music. Cheers
Oh, Ashley. To start off. I am Proud of YOU. You gave us the GIFT of a 100% GENUINE reaction. THIS masterpiece has been touching people all over the WORLD. I really could go on for days (I SERIOUSLY mean DAYS) about this astounding young man, his talent and music. But, this is for YOU. I just found you today. I wished that I had seen it 2 days ago. You are a BEAUTIFUL young woman. (I can say that, I'm 55.) Who is FEARLESS enough to start a TH-cam channel. But, GENUINE enough for us to see and feel how the music touches you. Very well done, young lady. By no means is that said in a condescending way. I HIGHLY encourage, suggest, recommend, ask, plead etc etc. That you continue to explore and discover Ren's music. The ONLY constant about ANY of it. Is that it's NEVER the same. As to where to go next... You could go the normal path. But for YOU, I would recommend an old one. It's Alright, live I think. I want to see you SMILE. So, dear girl. I hope that you have a stellar day and your path be filled with hope, joy and love. Don't forget to pass it on. The world will be a better place.
I cry every time. Thanks for crying with me. I was a goth in my twenties, so I understand what this message means to people like us. I only wish I had this back then, but I lived through feelings like my song recommendation for your channel, To the Hellfire by Lorna Shore.
1st time ive seen anything you've ever done . I held it together for the song and thought I was out of the woodwork....at 15 minutes you looked into the camera and said you were proud of me. your sincerity broke me ....thank you for exposing the rawness and allowing me too also you've got a fan in me always.
Please, don't be apologetic for being moved. The message of the song, it's raw emotion and vulnerability reached you. Those of us watching these reactions are hoping for honest reactions that can't be hidden. Especially is we were so moved and we want to experience that move again, for the first time, through the lens of someone else's reaction. Ren is a rabbit hole and a swiss army knife of an artist with a deep back catalog. If you choose to pursue it, I hope you enjoy the journey.
I'm proud of you.... for sharing your emotions with us ❤️. I had that same feeling at the exact same moment in this song. From someone who's lived that moment at one point in my life, it hurt even more. His music has ignited a shift in this world that we all needed. Being authentic in everything we do, just like your reaction, it's healing for yourself and others. We, as a collective, dont feel so alone in this world any more. Thank you for being authentic and raw, it was beautiful!
thank you! i sat there editing.. and there were moments where i full on just sat and cried.. it really is incredible to hhave the internet and make friends that make you not feel alone in this world..
I can't tell you how many times I've heard this song and i have the same reaction. I feel his pain and I battle with my own demons. Thank you for doing this video. Keep being your self your an beautiful, amazing and talented person.
Wow. This was tremendous. Your insights were powerful, and this song really seemed to speak to you. I just wanted to say how awesome i think it is, and i mean this in the actual sense of the word, like awe inspiring, that Ren took his mental health issues (which to make a super fast explanation, he suffered with undiagnosed Lyme disease and as the symptoms popped up, doctors treated him for separate mental illnesses. The meds didn't work and the underlying sickness remained undiagnosed. He got signed to Sony records, but was such a wreck physically that they dropped him (real prince of a guy, whomever made that call). He ended up getting a stem cell transplant and has since been properly diagnosed. He's in Canada now undergoing treatment). Ok so for that guy who is so young to have the wisdom and vision to turn his suffering into art... It blows my mind. What really gets me is how many conversations this has started. This stuff matters so much. I hope you go down the rabbit hole with the rest of us!! He defies genre! Lastly, when you took a moment to say "I'm proud of you," that may be one of the kindest things I've ever seen. You considered that someone out there night need that and you offered it. That's brilliant. Total respect. 👽👍🏼
thank you so much for informing me of that! i didn't know that he suffered from the undiagnosed Lyme disease.. that's sooooo sad!! but i also am glad that he has found a creative outlet to get things out! i hope you are doing well! and thank you for being here!

@@Scribeoflife FACTS
FACTS He crushed it and us!
@@Scribeoflife I LOVED the song, so far I haven’t cried to any of rens music, the only music I’ve ever cried to/from is Parker jack (some rough times back in 6th-7th grade)
I never cry to songs anymore I don't know what happened but I can't cry to songs anymore
Me too😂
THANK YOU SOO MUCH... this means a lot to me!
Hey Mike, try James Blunt's song "Monsters". Had me balling like a little girl 😂😂
He hit it right on new subscriber here😊
Hey 47 year old long haired biker in UK.
I agree, that line came out of nowhere and it presses tears out of my eyes each time.
That one floored me.
Its the "I go many names also"
We hear of so many names for lucifer and the devil that wed tend to forget that we have just as many words for hope and positivity and faith.

Wow what a quote
oh nice
My favorite movie "Ethernal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" if anyone has time, it makes you think.
Still the best reaction ever to Hi Ren. Hits home to many who are suffering, anxiety, depression, loneliness .
I love when he starts to sing - "So cower at the man I've become
When I sing from the top of my lungs
That I won't retire I'll stand in your fire
inspire the meek to be strong " that part of the song is so strong emotionally. I've watched this 50+ times and it still moves me.
i just read that.. and got the chills.. holy shit.. XD
thank you!
When he starts singing it's like he has transcended and that is why it's a new voice.
Give the devil a big ole L today friends.
Same…i always gets to me.
What a precious gift this young man has given to the world.

Thank you so much!🥺
@@SlashleySlays never apologise for the state of your mind I've had this battle every day
I've lost count how many times I've listened to this song. Both alone and in reaction videos. I flat out bawl every time,. Even when I watched 3 hours of reaction videos in a row. It's so cathartic for me
Same. I….yeah….same.
Yes... Just yes
I'm literally 4 hours down that rabbit hole right now!
Same! Every single time

His words and observations are truly remarkable and relatable and will go down in history!
exactly this. this is why we love ashe she is human
I agree, this is a gift to humanity.
I get mad at the reactioners that cut away and edit out their actual reactions. The crying is your reaction and the true one.
Your reaction to Ren's emotionally charged performance (filmed and recorded live btw) was honest and moving. Power on my friend!
Thank you very much! Yea.. the rawness was there for sure..I debated on even posting this because I was like.... I...broke...down 🥺
@@SlashleySlays That's what made your reaction so fantastic. The honesty of it. When he said "some people call me hope" you can see the impact it had on you....beautiful
@@SlashleySlays Nothing wrong with a raw reaction, especially to a song as raw as Hi Ren.
I basically reacted the same way (and still do) simply because of how the song hits, going from dark depression, over elation, to a more somber, realistic (but hopeful) note...it's heart wrenching and joyful.
actually he is wonderfully lip-syncing to a pre-recorded track (as most videos are) but it's really well made.
@@franklarouche8612 he's definitely not lol
It's fairly rare for someone to watch this and not be moved. There's a reason this has almost 10 million views in just a few months - it captures a part of the human experience that we all deal with to one degree or another. This work of art reminds us that we're not alone in these struggles - you are not alone.
thank you so much!!
I hope Ren realizes how incredibly powerful of a song he's created.
I honestly hope so too!
yeah I think him commenting on a load of reactions and seeing he has close to amillion subs now, and had like half of that a few months ago, and all the thousands of comments saying how this song moved them, I think he's got a pretty good idea
I think he knows. This song made me cry😢so many people struggle with this. He’s a legend 1000 perfect ❤
Oh he knows. He’s doing something raw and relatable with this song and it’s brought awareness to his music and his struggles. He’s a genius.
The tragedy is, we all know that voice is still telling him it's not enough.
This is one of the greatest music performance tracks I've ever heard. Ren is a genius. He's somehow managed to put down EXACTLY what mental health is - truly amazing.
And chronic illness! Its really validating
I thought that he was doing a play on Ren and Stimpy at first, but he got deep, very, very quickly.
This is literally what happens everyone who listens to this song it's powerful as hell. Whatever you went though I hope you can work through it but I think Ren is helping a lot of people see their own struggles because he's making his so public and honest.
Thank you!!
No not everyone gets emotional hearing this song. I’m so glad I’m on meds, cause this song would send me right into a nightmare psychosis
@goon3310 I can see where that would come from but it's incredibly reductionist and generalising.

Absolutely 🥺 thank you

Ren is a truly talented musician, songwriter, and storyteller.

Wait ... weren't you supposed to feed us with profound insights and unique observations (about a music video that most of us have probably seen more times than Ren has at this point LOL?) No. Stop. Your reaction was as authentic and human as any I've seen. Besides, if I'm a talented artist, I'm going to choose making people cry over making people describe shit ... ALL DAY LONG. So thank you for having the courage to share your vulnerable moments with a bunch of strangers on the internet.

As someone who should (by all rights) not be here anymore, this song hit me like a semi-truck, and still does countless times later, so you have no need to apologise, lass. I'd go so far as to say that exact emotional response and borderline speechlessness is the purest response a work of art like this can receive.

"Combats Depression" is a great way of expressing it; it illustrates your efforts against a miserable condition.
Thank you

I so appreciate your honest emotion. Thank you. I'm retired airborne, my body is pretty scarred up, but the PTSD and depression sucks. I was crying right along with you
What an amazing reaction. This may be the best song/performance/piece of art I have ever heard and knowing others react the same makes us all feel a little more normal.
there's no such thing as normal.. and THAT'S completely ok!!!! thank you for being here!
Don't worry Darlin, this song hits this way to all of us. I've watched it a thousand times and a thousand different reactions and I still get choked up every time.
That "Darlin" of yours made me miss my dad so much. Thanks!💕
Thank you 🥺
Your reaction shows how powerful this piece is. I shared this video with a lot of people, using ‘powerful’ as the word to describe it. It destroyed me. One reactor said ‘I’ll never be the same.’ It makes a lot of other music seem silly and irrelevant. Thanks for being vulnerable in doing this reaction.
I find myself going back to this video... every day 🥺
@@SlashleySlays I do as well but mostly in others reactions, it hit me harder than anything ive ever listened to in my guts, I commented a huge comment up above or down below umm lol no pun intended, whichever way the older comments land for you.
Of course! Thank you for being here 🥺
I think the best tribute to a musician, Artist, or Actor is to be moved by their performance....And for Musicians we rarely get moved like this...Seems, our musicians may be able to get us up and dancing or to shake a fist in the air violently but few can move us as Ren just did....He makes us cry but also makes us think about humanity and ourselves...Its truly a talent for someone who can reach deep inside himself and weave a one man performance in such a way that we sit staring and listening totally transfixed to his every word.
You have such a beautiful soul, you should never be sorry for being truly open with your emotions and being able to feel them so freely, thank you.
Even as an old metalhead from several generations back, when personal expectations were more compressed and even keel was the expected norm, this song is impressive as hell. We are not our struggles. Keep up the good work.
Thank you🥺
Thank you for your empathy and heartfelt reaction.
A personnel fave is 'Blind eyed', but watch this version as its not on any ren sites so people often miss it and its simply the best: th-cam.com/video/6z7ug3B_Sts/w-d-xo.html
Your genuine reaction has earned you a well deserved sub from me.
Thank you 🥺
We ALL shed those tears of pain and empathy
Never be ashamed of your emotions. That is your true heart and soul showing through. I loved your reaction and I as a 58 year old male cried right along with you. Earned a like and a sub.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH 😟
If showing emotion is crazy; then you're my kind of crazy. It was a wonderfully heartfelt reaction - be proud that you recorded and shared it :)
As a few others have mentioned; check out the Tales of Jenny and Screech (full trilogy video) next if you want more Ren
thank you! and i will definitely!
(I can say that, I'm 55.)
Who is FEARLESS enough to start a TH-cam channel.
Thank YOU!
Thank you for taking the time to respond in such a wonderful way. I hope you are doing well in life 🥺
I cry every time. Thanks for crying with me. I was a goth in my twenties, so I understand what this message means to people like us. I only wish I had this back then, but I lived through feelings like my song recommendation for your channel, To the Hellfire by Lorna Shore.
Yess!!! Love this! 🥺
