      Right! No, there is only two in this marriage and it don't include Alfonso. As soon as she told Cesare that she was "tired of my husband and this life" it was a wrap for him. Killing Alfoso was on his grocery list.

    Showtime is just STUPID... this show is brilliant, Cesare and Lucrezia alone make for one of the most absorbing couples I've ever seen. Biggest. mistake. EVER!!

    "you are both so dear to my heart"
    Sounds like an admission Cesare! This will not end well.

    Ugh. the way Francois says anything is just pure sex. Jesus. The sheer power and tense calmness that comes off his character is just ugh. The warning in his voice "Do not provoke me my lord" that contrasts really well with the weakness and desperation of Alfonso.&though, Alfonso is spineless you almost feel pity at his lack of guile and how he's essentially at the mercy of these terrible, no good people. I mean his brother (in-law) just kinda admitted to boning his wife and he can't do anything.

      Well to be fair to Alfonso, if you or any other ordinary person where in that situation where you just found out that your wife who you dearly love not only loves you second to her own brother (if she even loves you at all because you can’t be sure at this point) but is also having an affair with that brother. You probably react similarly.

      I KNOW RIGHT!!! I’ve read the Borgia Apocalypse and it’s amazing... the writer used that “mine” bit on Cesare and Lucrezia again but it never gets old.

    Dude walks out on his wife the night of their wedding consummation, crying like some kind of man-boy. She gets humiliated as a result and has the nerve to get viciously jealous. And then he asks "does she love me?"

    Alfonso's fatal flaw was how he tried to replace Juan in the hearts & minds of the Borgia family. He constantly compares himself to Juan and the irony is that the show was lost without Juan (mostly because David Oakes was one of its best actors). Alfonso knows that he is doomed - Cesare will always be number one in Lucrezia's heart.

    • @iamlinda100

      Show was "lost" without Juan? I think not, Juan ruined the show for me, the real stars who really made this show are Rodrigo, Cesare and Lucrezia played brilliantly by Jeremy Irons, Francois Arnaud & Holliday Grainger respectively. Yes
      David Oakes is a great actor, but his character Juan was a nuisance, a jackass and annoying from the beginning, I didn't care about him at all and I was glad when he was finally killed off, I don't miss him at all. And I actually find the show better without Juan in it, to me season 3 was the best season and Juan wasn't in it.

    • @iluvlafferty
      @iluvlafferty 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Let's agree to disagree. Juan was dramatic and charismatic, exactly what The Borgias needed. He's selfish but also vulnerable & deeply insecure. Cesare and Lucrezia showed more depth in scenes with Juan, because he created conflict. David Oakes' performance was incredible in Season 2. The best thing in Season 3 was the incest plot, which I credit to Francois & Holly's strong chemistry.

    • @iamlinda100
      @iamlinda100 7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      we can only agree to disagree because to me, Juan was just a nuisance, he was a complicated character, but so were many others, and both Cesare and Lucrezia have shown depth to their characters even without Juan. They have shown the depth and complexity of their characters with each other and with Rodrigo. Juan merely brought out the worst in themselves. Like I said David Oakes is a great actor, but to me his character Juan is not, and this series has plenty of great actors in it. So for these reasons I don't miss David/Juan at all, and like I said Juan ruined the show for me. I actually wish Cesare had killed Juan sooner. For me season 3 is the best overall, not just because of the incest plotline between Lucrezia & Cesare, but also Cesare's rise to power and his conflict with his father. These plotlines made S3 more gripping and interesting to me, and it had a lot of great character development for Cesare and his relationships with both Rodrigo and Lucrezia. S3 was darker and more gritty overall compared to the first 2 seasons.

      Juan wasn't an easy person to like, but the show struggled without him. It's like The Tudors without Anne Boleyn - she was despicable but made the show entertaining. Juan wasn't as tough as Cesare but he saw the truth in his incestuous love for Lucrezia - proving his loyalty as a brother that he didn't tell Rodrigo about his suspicions of their affair. It was clear that Cesare didn't take pleasure in killing him.

    • @iamlinda100
      @iamlinda100 7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I understand that Juan was not an easy character to like, hence why many people hated him. But for me personally, the show certainly did NOT "struggle" without him, for me the show was even BETTER without him, and there were plenty of drama without Juan. Season 3 was full of drama and Juan wasn't in it at all. And to many other fans too, they also enjoyed the series more without Juan, because Juan was just such an unlikable character, many fans just did not like him at all and were relieved when he was killed. But it's subjective and really up to individual opinions, everyone has different opinions and preferences.
      And of course Cesare did not take pleasure in killing Juan, even despite their differences they were still brothers and deep down Cesare still loved his brother, but he felt he had no choice because Juan had humiliated the Borgia family way too many times, and when Juan endangered the life of Lucrezia's son, I think that was the last straw for Cesare and he knew that he had to kill Juan to protect his family.
