Your wood in the back reminded me of, a couple of years ago i broke down on an industrial estate right next to a skip, full of floor joists, even cut to the right length to fit in my van, i got permission to take the wood, it filled my van up, i couldn't get another piece in, just in time the r.a.c. breakdown van turned up, and towed me home, and he said cor your van was heavy, i don't want to know what is in the back, cloud and a silver lining, love your video Martin and family

I no transits well and any ford I've welded loads and that needs alot of work and I promise you that you find more I no you said you know a man in body work and spraying but the welding going to cost you if you can't do it yourself or no someone who will do it for you cheap wat you got to think how much everything going to cost and is it worth it just depends on wat you paid and what the engine and gearbox is like good luck mate
My transit should have been scrapped years ago, your previous videos were useful when it came to the welding repairs.
You’ll have that sorted in no time.
On the mk7 - check underneath the scuttle from the engine side they rust there and water runs in. Also check directly above rear axel on the chassis Re rust - on the chassis I’d get the chipping hammer out that’s the test haha . They are brilliant vans the 2.2 is very tuneable the power can be upped

Its is a bit of a heap but im sure it can be turned around. If you had it for the right price and knowing it will make good content then its a win win. Good luck with it

Is it worth the paint on a 09 plate with every panels dented, If it was lwb hi/roof but not that one. will always be a shed.

How sad many of the comments are. Yes it's not a perfect van its 15 years old! Martin and Jimmy are more than capable and experienced to make it good and its up to them they're not asking you to own FFS. Carry on Martin and Jimmy.
The transit playlist must have watched the full playlist 50times and more on my other channel, hope to see more of this, I'm currently welding my Mk7 aswell I had to save it as only has 60k on the clock
Does need a fair bit of work to it vut you guys have the skills and knowhow to sort that out, cant wait to see thr results

Good luck to you when it comes to the oil filter change, the housing on mine was super hard to get off, apparently it's common.

looks like it has been the victim of the cheap dodgy locks that can be opened with a pair of pliers quicker than the key! always found it strange that Ford offer decent locks but only as an optional expensive upgrade.

Personally I think it’s all fixable especially for people like us that can do there own repairs, yes it’s for the more advanced but still doable, I bet these go cheap all the time due to these issues scaring many people away. I think this would look good afterwards. Good luck with the repairs not that you need it. I bet it would look good after. It’s a working van at the end of the day 😊
Its doing well for its age, well used and abused i reckon, but guess it will not have a hard life from now on, rust has always been bad on these, but will still be good for years to come when its sorted.

My 3.5ton Mk7 Tranny just failed its MOT due to two small rust holes on the lower outer front rear wheel archs 😞 I thought it was a bit harsh to be honest but apparently it was because its within xx distance of the cross member ? I cant even see they were looking for the work either as they know I always do everything myself. Dunno if your one needs a class 7 MOT like mine and if that makes a difference ?

Could be a good project Martin, I wondered if the rust may of been caused by salt water, was it bought near a coastal town at all?
The Transits are nice to drive but they’ve never managed to solve the rust issues, I’ve got an 07 plate VW Transporter and it’s clean as but boy do you pay for them !
Seen better and seen worse and i'm sure will be a good van once the cosmetics side is sorted. Your last transit playlist brought me to your channels and been watching ever since

mk7's as well check the drivers side engine mount, the water gets in through the grill above it and drips down and rots the engine mount chassis rails. looks decent tho. EML is often an EGR fault. don't buy cheap ones off ebay they don't last, you can get Delphi ones that are OEM quality

@@retrorestoreI think TH-cam has deleted my first comment on this video which was 17 minutes prior to this one... I was just saying how ford installed shear bolts at the factory to prevent vehicle theft as the wiring loom behind the wing mirrors was a weak point

Well, for God sake, don’t go to Euro car parts for the wing Body shop, I work have used their parts before And the Chinese Knock off panels are so thin, they rust out in no time and you can never get the gaps right on aftermarket body panels Martin
Get under it and clean out the places where dirt collects. On this side of the pond a guy sprayies the under side of his cars with bar and chain oil for a chain saw. It is messy to do but after spraying take the car on a dirt road and the dirt will make a protective layer, unlike the black plastic junk water can not get between the oil and the metal, it will last about four years and just spray it again, fill all the nooks and crannies and you are good to go.If you do not try it you will never know.
