Thank you for the review. My uncle was a wireless operator and manned the lower rear gun position during the war with coastal command. He flew on pre-bombing weather reconnaissance missions and in September 1943 the plane and crew never returned and declared missing in action. It was likely shot down over the North Sea. Apparently it was a tight fit and very cramped inside which is probably why he was assigned there because he was a short man. God bless you Uncle Wes.
Thanks for the review. Yes, it's pricey, but I've wanted a Hampden for years - my old dad flew in them. Only real downer is that the pilot doesn't look like John Mills, (The Way To The Stars)
Thank you for another interesting presentation, as always your time and effort is much appreciated.... It's great that a relatively little known W.W.2. Aircraft the “ Handley Page Hampden", known as the “Flying Suitcase" can be resurrected so effectively like a phoenix with M.F.S...... I'm pretty sure Handley Page however didn't include a tail hook in their original. !!!!... Roger... Pembrokeshire
Holy cats, saying this for real for once - *FIRST* (edit: As always, good review, clear, salient points, and an aircraft I might've otherwise never thought to look at)
Wow, a much nicer quality from Virtavia. I usually avoid them but this one seems really nice. And i would love to try and pull the audio out of this aircraft and use it into the Beaver. It's got a very nice rumble to it. Thanks for the review.
I love this airframe. I own the XP11 module and it's one of my favorites for short cargo hauls (fantasy cargo lol). I never care much about art and texturing, so if the systems all feel good, if it's interesting to start/operate/fly/shutdown I'm in :)
Hi again. I just wanted to ask you, in view of the fantastic videos you grace us with, what PC specs do you work with to generate such stunning graphics and sim play?
Great review. I will personally be holding off on this for the price. It literally looks like it came out of FSX. There's a very lacking attention to detail for the listed price. Especially the engines, the cylinders, etc. literally look very subpar compared to many other aircraft out there. If it had more detail maybe but as is nope. This is the very reason I watch your videos!
Great presentation as usual 👍 Unusual choice given the range of British WWII twins but a nice visual model all the same. I think I’d wait for a Blenheim or Beaufighter rather than add this to my hangar.
Those were not Hampdens. The Soviet Union never used them. Go back and watch the movie. You'll see they don't even have twin rudders like the Hampden. They are Soviet DB-3's.
If you're talking about "Wings Over Berlin"....you are wrong! They are DB-3's. One of the officers even says, "The DB-3 may not be the best plane or the fastest plane, but it's all we've got!" Go back and watch it, and pay more attention. They don't even look alike!
Sort of cartoonish FSX-type cockpit, but sounds very good, looks to have a decent flight model and is a fascinatingly different aircraft. Regardless of the steeper price I might spring for it save for one thing - no failure modeling. Yet another toy which looks and sounds the part alright but has no soul. Fly it all day at full throttle, closed cowl flaps, whatever mixture/RPM, no problem. Even the Just Flight turbo Arrow with hardly what one could call failure modeling is going to punish you for throwing takeoff power at it cold. Then along comes Milviz with the C310 and the marvelous Black Square creations, the awesome Comanche 250 and others which will readily spit up on ham-handed gamers and may challenge even those who take the time to learn things properly. There is still a long way to go. I haven't yet seen any consideration made for shock cooling - even the Black Square Duke can be idled down through subzero weather at 200 knots with no consequence, which is of course ridiculous. But no failures at all? Not even for extreme abuse? Sorry but count me out.
funnily enough 90% of addons have zero failure modeling. it's nice, but i wont expect it with most addons. The cockpit is decent... enough. I would like more systems or at least full function
@@AvAngel Agree on the 90%, but then again failure modeling has not been around long. Back decades ago I was fortunate enough to own a 1958 J35 Bonanza and, besides the constant money, there was plenty of attention given to every detail in preflights. The automatic and constant scanning for "what if" airstrips and emergency landing spots while underway, because things go wrong. It got plenty stressful at times, and I guess that's what spoiled me. MSFS has done a magnificent job of modeling weather, arguably the most important ingredient to flight realism. It's just a shame, at least IMO, that many developers choose to market good aircraft sanitized of even basic mechanical/physical use and maintenance considerations, the "nervous factors" that (again IMO) transform arcade into simulation. Fortunately for those developers there is apparently a large audience, perhaps the vast majority, who don't care about that dimension. Thanks for the great review and my apologies for long winded comments! 🌹
Sadly, their reputation preceeds them. I really want to like this, we need more WW2 era bombers in MSFS. Aeroplane Heaven seem to have no plan for releasing the Lancaster, Flying Iron's B-17 is a LONG way away, as is Microprose's. But their Short Stirling flight model was terrible and it required the community to fix it for the longest time. Their B-1B Supersonic Bomber, that couldn't go Supersonic. The P6-M was a joke. Their Skyhawk is a terrible Conversion. Their F7F however was very good. They just ask far too much money for what is essentially an FSX conversion. They need to do better for the money they're asking for. It's a hard "Maybe" from me. Flying Iron's Focker Wulf is coming and that WILL be worth the money. ________________________________ Edit/update: I bought it. Whilst I'd prefer closer to €15, this is hands down their best release. I hope they maintain and improve upon this quality.
@@WWXspartan058 makes sense, it could be a company, if he has an LLC, or S-Corp, her in US, but I get what you mean. Well then by the way I still think he needs to get someone who knows how to do textures because why release something that's halfway decent and have s*** textures! And then charge $22 for it on top of it!

Never really cared for Virtavia's texturing style. I like the photo real texturing that most devs are using for MSFS 2020. Virtavia's products look as though they belong back in FSX.
I bought this and it has incredibly poor textures, so poor it could be a FS10 model. Pilot/crew are also low quality. Inside the cockpit is well done but that's it. Price should be no more than 5 quid
