      Of course he was! Why else did he insist on getting a million dollar life insurance policy on Susan as well as demanding that he get power of attorney over her... he wouldn’t let her spend even $10 on groceries for the week for her and the boys but sure pay for life insurance for a million dollar policy that is unlikely to be used without foul play?!? He wasn’t expecting to come home to cops and a search party, he was probably going to say he saw her that morning leave for work and would’ve eventually gone to court to have her classified as dead but Jennifer and the daycare ruined that

      Really haunting how Susan’s friend warned her that signing that insurance she was worth more dead to Josh. She practically signed her life sentence, don’t know how she thought to sign it when she was in the mindset of giving up on the marriage.

      I bet you did. I've never worked in personal injury law, and even *I've* seen more than enough of my share of Josh Powells.
      And, as the other commentor on this thread said, the Josh Powells of the world make it so much harder for those of us who actually *DO* have severe, chronic pain as a result of accidents!

    • @maneckineckbeard1749

      I was once T-boned, hard, by a guy who blew through a red light as I was making a turn. The guy was SO okay that he was actually able to wrench open my car door (which his car had hit so hard that it was jammed shut) and help push my car out of the road.
      Then...the cops and the other driver's fiancee showed up. Immediately and suddenly, he was in such severe distress that an ambulance and fire engine had to be called. But- and this is a first for me, as a former EMT- The ambulance actually left without transporting him, because the cops, firemen and EMTs were so certain that he was malingering that they made it clear he'd have to actually be examined if he went to the hospital. Once again, he immediately and suddenly made a miraculous recovery back to his previously uninjured state.
      Of course, he later tried to sue me.
      And of course, he ended up having to pay my damages.

    The accident described at the beginning of the video? I had a guy do the exact same thing to me. We were going 2-3 miles an hour after both stopping at a red light - he hit his brakes in the middle of the intersection for no reason and then calls an ambulance and says he’s hurt. Some people are just fraudsters.

    I think it's obvious he wanted that insurance money. But the cops showing up at his house & going inside, screwed up his plan. That explains the bs excuse of going camping in the middle of the night & forgetting what day it was. He had to think of an excuse quick. I'll bet his plan was to say she had left for work riding her bike & just disappeared. It's a busy road & anyone could have grabbed her. I think he intended on her body being found, so he could collect the insurance money. But the cops being involved early, made him hide her body where it couldnt be found.
    It amazes me that the cops didnt completely search that house & his vehicle. She supposedly disappeared from that house, so it was basically a crime scene. It's like the cops just blew it off as no big deal & did nothing until it was to late to collect evidence.

    Really appreciate the work you went to just finding Jeff, with a case like this, leaving no stone unturned is how everything should be approached. Thank you Jeff for clarifying the events of the day you saw Josh, been in a few bumps before but know enough to know as a younger person you bounce back quickly. The levels Josh went through to scam should be red flags to learn from.

  • @F_Tim1961
    @F_Tim1961 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    So what you are suggesting is that Josh used Benzocycloprine from the script he got to knock Susan down and while down he used the impact driver to kill her. Likely by driving large screws into her brain until she was dead. The impact driver is covered in another episode (and destruction thereof).
    The body was parked somewhere in the snow. Then Michel drove down and it was put into his car trunk (the Ford Taurus) for a while . THen it was dumped somewhere for a while and Michael drove the Taurus to the wreckers in Pendleton even though it was a perfectly good car and took a huge loss, just in case there was DnA left in the trunk. Finally Josh Powell took what remained from whatever grave it was in in a hired van on a trip that was about 700 km long. Basically the remains are at the end of the earth and even if found are unlikely to be recognised.
    He missed his true calling - he should have been working as a body disappear man for the NY or NJ mafia. What a crappy family. I'm glad Josh is dead I am glad Michael is dead (I'd say he undoubtedly physically handled the fresh body ) and helped stash it in the Taurus - kept well away from the cops. If he knew only vaguely what Josh had done, there was no reason to jump off the roof of the parking building. But he did - he'd seen some horrors . His sister knows a lot too. I hope she has a miserable life.

    What the heck is the deal with LDS people and chiropractors!? I lived in Utah, and I've never been anywhere where SO many people either WERE chiropractors, had chiropractors in their families, or seemed themselves to be in constant, ongoing chiropractic treatments!

    • @prarieborn6458
      @prarieborn6458 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Probably a cultural church thing, everybody in lock step. I am guessing but LDS I have known, the ones in good,, do what the bishop says. and if you are sick and broke the church takes care of your bills including medical. A Doctor of Osteopathy, a DO, has same license to practice Medicine as an MD. A DO once warned me about Chiropractors. they are not Doctors, they give treatments, cracking your spine and neck. After a person reaches age of 60 a DO never does any manipulations because it can sever the spinal chord. Spend your money on a real doctor. Same thing with Optometrists. vs Opthalmologists.. Optometrist cost less but are not Eye doctors, they make glasses..Opthalmologists are MDs..diagnose and treat eye conditions.

    • @maneckineckbeard1749
      @maneckineckbeard1749 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@prarieborn6458 Agree very much! My primary care doctor is a DO, and in one place I lived my kids' pediatrician was at the on-campus pediatrics clinic at an osteopathic medical school, whilst I used their on-campus urgent care myself...I've always gotten standard of care treatment from DOs, and have been assured by several MDs I trust that they're every bit as well-versed as MDs. That said, back before my Lasik, (which was of course carried it it by an opthalmologist!) I was always pleased with the work done by the 2 optometrists I used when it came to fitting me for glasses and contacts, or for treating minor issues like conjunctivitis...but obviously I went to an MD opthalmologist for the actual eye surgery!
      But I couldn't agree more that in many, if not most, cases chiropractic treatments are at the very least needlessly expensive for the benefit they do, and at worst they can be potentially highly dangerous and based on usuriously pricey long-term payment plans. Every study I've heard of has found that at most, chiropractic is as helpful for mild-moderate lower back pain as standard PT, but costs vastly more. And that at worst, neck manipulation has been definitely linked to strokes, arterial dissection, ruptured aneurisms and/or muscle, ligament & tendon injury...even in young, healthy people. (There's a case study of a *six yo child* who suffered permanent paralysis after their grandparent took them for neck manipulation due to a minor illness.) And that doesn't even begin to cover the disturbing practice of many chiropractors when it comes to practices such as repeated x-ray exposure, pushing hugely cost-inflated supplements on patients and claiming to treat/prevent illnesses they're not even vaguely qualified to diagnose, such as diabetes, autoimmune disease, Lyme disease, etc.
      To be fair, I had a friend whose brother became a chiropractor after he was evidently helped immensely by a DC with a football injury...but he's an ethical, honest, well-intentioned guy who strictly treats back pain and other issues. He actually told me that he would NOT recommend chiropractic treatment for a severe disc injury, but instead said I should try PT and massage...and I must say I was really impressed by that. But my sense, unfortunately, is that DCs like him can be few & far between, and that chiropractic schools tend to focus *much* more on the business/income aspect of practice than any medical or veterinary schools. I've even been told by 2 DCs that there's a big emphasis on bringing in repeat business, and on discouraging PT-style home programs in favor of ongoing office visits.
      Still, though- do you know how did the cultural thing you mentioned got started? Because I was shocked when I initially moved to Utah by how seemingly everyone there had ongoing, routine appointments with chiropractors on a weekly basis- even people without injuries or pain that would require treatment of any kind- and also by *just* how prevalent & popular untrained, self-taught or correspondence-school naturopathic "doctors" were! I've lived in some pretty hippy-dippy places, but I've never seen the level of belief in self-proclaimed naturopaths, homeopaths, herbalists, "energy healers," etc. as I did in Utah...especially by people who could NOT by any stretch of the imagination be considered "hippie" or "crunchy granola" folks; instead, these were essentially *all* straight-laced, clean-cut, college-educated LDS folks! That, along with the apparent ubiquitous participation of every (smart & educated) LDS person I knew in some MLM scheme, was definitely one of the biggest culture shocks I had when living in UT. And I've still never really been able to determine the genesis of this cultural trend: everyone I asked just answered with some version of, "Well, it's just really popular here with us. And it has been as long as I can remember..." So, not exactly terribly helpful info!
      Ironically, when I lived in UT, the state had the highest rates of prescription drug abuse in the USA. Based on what I was told, the issue stemmed from the LDS church's ban on not only illicit drugs, but caffeine and other substances which "inflamed the senses." But evidently prescription drugs and "natural" stimulants such as ephedra (aka "Brigham Tea" or "Morman Tea") were judged acceptable, since the former was "legitimate because it came from a doctor" whilst the latter was "natural." I've never seen so many prescription pill mills anywhere else I've lived!
