Listened through to the end to compose my thoughts. While in the surface the two instances seem mirrors, casting OP in a hypocritical light, I think it’s more fair to look at the timeline. He’s preparing for Marriage and is struck by the realization that his own wife is willing to go behind another man’s back to help her sister carry on an affair for the better half of a year. This initial revelation hits hard to the gut and he acts on impulse. So as he’s riding the wave down and comes upon the issue with his own brother, he has to find his footing and regroup. We saw only a few weeks of that, and what we see is him confronting his brother and working to get steps in place to help reconcile. He wasn’t ’hiding’ an ongoing relationship. Porn is an addiction and needs to be addressed, and if he ever updates the story we may find that further steps were taken. But where his future SIL was actively working to tear her marriage apart and his fiancée was helping, he was actively working to salvage a relationship.Sometimes you do have to play the long game.

Tbh, I'm glad that he called off the wedding. Not only because of the reasonings at the end of the story that was mentioned, BUT I don't think I'd feel too safe and secure either with knowing that the person I'm currently with, tried to secretly hide an affair for their sibling because chances are, that if Sarah wanted to cheat as well, Evelyn would've also been right there with her trying to cover up her steps and everything as well. It's just the constant torment of "what if they did this to me" with knowing that they helped someone else commit adultery.

There is a difference between A) learning of your sibling's infidelity and actively helping them to hide it for 6 months, and B) learning of your sibling acquiring a pron addiction, and immediately urging them to come clean about it, even if it has since stopped (to your best knowledge) and looking to force the issue when you next see them in 2 weeks.

Listened through to the end to compose my thoughts. While in the surface the two instances seem mirrors, casting OP in a hypocritical light, I think it’s more fair to look at the timeline. He’s preparing for Marriage and is struck by the realization that his own wife is willing to go behind another man’s back to help her sister carry on an affair for the better half of a year. This initial revelation hits hard to the gut and he acts on impulse. So as he’s riding the wave down and comes upon the issue with his own brother, he has to find his footing and regroup. We saw only a few weeks of that, and what we see is him confronting his brother and working to get steps in place to help reconcile. He wasn’t ’hiding’ an ongoing relationship. Porn is an addiction and needs to be addressed, and if he ever updates the story we may find that further steps were taken. But where his future SIL was actively working to tear her marriage apart and his fiancée was helping, he was actively working to salvage a relationship.Sometimes you do have to play the long game.

OP just found out about his brother’s misgivings (some people don’t see porn as an affair) and is encouraging his brother to come clean about it. His brother has stop and is going to counseling with his wife.
We date people who are mirrors for the social dynamic model that were are accustomed too. The fact that he was ok with being with someone who was effectively a ghost of a person yet he never saw it in 6 years is a huge red flag on his part. There is work there that needs to be done by him as well. Imagine being with someone for 6 years and never fighting with them or curious about them and only doing what you want to do.
