Lovely placemats! My daughter is looking for something quick to make to sell at a farmers market - she will love this! Thank you Sherrill - Happy Easter 🐣 to you and your family 😊
I am still learning, so could you help me? When you make the placemats with one fabric on top and one fabric on bottom-when is the best time to quilt the placemat? And what happens if I use orange in my bobbin and black in my top thread? Appriciate your help with this.
Hi Debbie. There are many different ways to do the quilting stitches. If you are a beginner, I recommend doing the quilting stitches after you make the placemat. If you have 2 different colors of thread on your machine, whatever color is in the bobbin will be on the bottom/underside of the placemat. Whenever you are not sure what the stitches will look like do a the stitches on scrap fabric. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗and happy sewing😍
I am making the plain reversible placemats, and my fabric is puckering when I stitch the pieces together, and also upon top stitching. My needle is new and both tensions are good. What do you think could be wrong? My fabrics are cotton, but I'm wondering if they are different weights and perhaps that is causing a problem. Thank you.
Hi Elizabeth. I use a size 90/14 universal needle. The most common stitching for stitching quilting fabric together is 2.5 and the tension is set to 4.0. I mostly use a stitch length of 3.0 (tension 4.0) because my eye sight has a hard time seeing the stitches if I have to rip them out. I also notice I never get any puckering. On top stitching I always use a stitch length of 3.0 or 3.5, and I never get any puckering. Do a test stitch on small scrap pieces of your fabric and make any adjustments to the stitch length and tension if necessary. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗 and happy sewing😍
Hi Donna. Glad you liked the placemat tutorial. No, I never wear my hair down. It is curly and hard to manage. So I just wear it up all the time. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

Hi Phxgidget. My placemats hold up pretty good, and we are also very messy. Glad you liked the placemat tutorial. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
I find that you can just iron whatever the product is with fusible interfacing and it re-adheres the adhesive and makes it look crisp again
