I have to get this off my chest. I absolutely hate the play with Baez against the Pirates. Baez is smart to keep the play alive, but it was supremely stupid on Craig. Notice there are two outs. All Craig had to do is turn around, walk three steps to first, step on the bag, and the inning is over! Baez is out and the runner does not score. I have never seen a run down between first and home, ever! Where was Baez going to go? But because of Craig’s bone head play, the runner is safe at home and Baez winds up on second. Un-freakin-believable! This grinds my gears every time I see it.
we gotta stop acting like this Javy Baez play was some sort of 1,000,000 IQ play by him and start saying what it really is, a -1,000,000 IQ play by the pirates. If the pirates had just been competent and tagged 1st or tagged Javy (like any other professional baseball player wouldve done) then Javy would look like the dumb one thinking he could fool another team into completely forgetting the most basic rules of the game.
Is there any chance that the kid's first ball was a game ball and then he gave another game ball to the women? If he had a game ball already I could see him sharing the second...
Because the whole point of him doing that was to interfere with the catcher (which you can do, so long as you don’t make contact with him), and guess what. IT WORKED. Brandon Belt got a stolen base AND got to advance an extra base due to the horrible throw. Baseball is really cool.
2:25 Why didn't the guy on first just run to second? He can't go back to first. If they throw the guy running to first out, the first baseman has the ball. I don't get it. If he threw to second, he'd be out anyway. The guy on first can't go back home. WTF was the runner trying to do with that juke move? 'I'll turn around!' 'Good, lol.' I have never seen anyone do something so counter productive in my entire life. Did he think the first baseman caught it on a line drive? Why would he throw it to second? lol. That was a 0 IQ play by the runner. If the first baseman caught it on a line drive, he was out. There's no turning around. There is ONE reason to turn around. It's obviously a hit and run. The guy hits it, and you run. lol. If you're out, you're out. Nothing you can do about it. Wasn't even your decision. You just run. The only time you turn around is if he pops it up. If he misses, you're trying to steal. The only way you're getting back to first is if the batter pops it up.
1st play wasn’t smart on anyone’s part. It was just the dumbest play in MLB history. Aside from the obvious fact that the first baseman could have just stepped on first base, he also didn’t have to ever throw the ball to the catcher like an actual rundown. It’s not like he was going to be safe at home plate. Just hold onto the ball
Not even watching this. The first clip is one of the lowest iq plays in history. There's nothing baez can possibly do to prevent Craig from tagging first and ending the inning. Thats all on Pittsburgh.
Again they shouldn’t have even tagged him if they continued to try to tag Baez then he would have been out and the run would not count even if it scored before Baez was tagged
That little boy is wise beyond his years.
Except he was caught on camera and the world knows he’s a fraud.
@@stephenjohnson9632 the ladies didn't know at the time. that's ALL that matters.
@@stephenjohnson9632 he was talking about the kid in the stands, not Altuve
@@85geoffm So was I. Nice transition though.
@@stephenjohnson9632 I know you were. It was a joke lol.
2:57 I love how the catcher kicks the bat to avoid the runner to get hurt
I think it's so he can tag him easier but it's still great
No wonder the pirates lost 20-1 lmao
The way Baez calls the runner safe before booking it to first 💀💀💀
That really wasn't a brilliant play by Baez, it was an incredibly stupid play by the entire Pirates infield...
Fr
Honestly, Will Craig (I think) deserves to be sent down just for that play alone.
@@ianalex9062 That guy’s in Korea now
@@smalliebigs101 well, I didn’t know that, I’m sorry
My wife who doesn't watch baseball, doesn't care, doesn't even understand most of the rules.... Literally said "why didn't he just step on the base?"
For which clip
First one seems to be the total opposite for the Pirates
I love the announcers in the first clip, “Keep going! Go! Go! You’re invisible!”
1st clip will forever be my favorite. Baez calls the play at home safe and is like “oh shit gotta run!”
So, number 1 is +1M for Baez, and -1M for the Pirates.
Lessssgooooooo my fav video got a part 2!!
Hold up, look at the umpires shirt at 1:03
Yeah, so?
That kid has more game than most adults.
You can hear people laughing at 0:07 and then someone yelling "go to first!"
I have a feeling Baez's most recent magic trick was the reason this video was made.
I'm from Pittsburgh but those pirates... 😅
1:45 that kid is going places
That Pirates one was just -1000000 IQ
Pedroia belongs in the Hall of Fame!
0:00 that is -1,000,000 IQ play!
In first one, if he just step on the base, Baez will be out, though cubs player was safe on the home.
There was 2 outs, if the pirates player scored, it wouldn’t have counted
The smart part is supposed to be that the batter turned a simple out into a cat and mouse game and managed to get away with it.
1:00 Still one of the most heads up plays I have ever seen...
He's trying to get that 342 million dollar contract

A rundown between home and 1st is a thing?

Baez the magician
The kid was epic
4-5 on the put out. Yeah, that's fairly rare.
I’m sorry that first play is not 1 million IQ. All he had to do was step on first and didn’t. That is a play in stupid baseball.
1:09 Bruh how is that batter in the mlb
Because the whole point of him doing that was to interfere with the catcher (which you can do, so long as you don’t make contact with him), and guess what. IT WORKED. Brandon Belt got a stolen base AND got to advance an extra base due to the horrible throw. Baseball is really cool.
The first one is a negative iq play
Sheeeeeesh
The first clip it wasn’t smart the first baseman had a bad idea
IM NOT THAT LATE REEE

Tbh he was out at home in the first one
They showed it in the recordings and he was safe by a mile
@@bigbruh3742 yeah you could even see he was safe in real time
I didn’t need the replay to see he was very clearly SAFE. Get your eyes checked.
The Pirates are just stupid, Baez is not “smart”

0:13 the catcher is deadass touching the base. In what world is that safe?
you have to tag the runner not touch the base
At home you have to tag
