Like him? No. You are correct. However, there have been many great FS that did it their own way and we're also amazing. Ronnie Lott played CB, FS and SS. He was best at FS. A total ball hawk. Can’t believe this list didn’t have 05 Devin Hester catching a missed field goal by the Giants, faking like he’s gonna walk off the field, and then returning it 108 yards for a touchdown

It completely threw the Colts off. If you remember, Dwight Freeney was nursing a badly sprained ankle with a Hyperbaric Chamber to reduce swelling so he didn't have his shoes or anything on when Sean did that. Being a lifetime Saints fan was usually heart-breaking, but it sure came together that season. Now the entire NFL is "Woke". I just don't give a damn about any of them anymore. Sad.
In case you’re wondering why the clock didn’t stop at that obj play, the rule states that if you aren’t gaining yards while going out of bounds, the clock keeps running. This is a great example of OBJ- he can’t just catch, but he can run, throw, kick, you name it.
@@smeagol-bp3wr It was 3rd and 8, I don't think the intent of the play is to tick the clock. Can't believe it was LB Grant Morgan who let that North Texas returner get away with that first play, but then again he was just a walk-on at that point, and still ended up becoming All-SEC 1st Team with an amazing end to his career last year. He was a huge part of Arkansas' dramatic turnaround over the past two seasons.
My understanding was that North Texas looked at their schedule and did some scouting before determining that Arkansas would be the team that would give them the best chance for success with that play. Maybe having a walk-on LB played into that choice. They met with the ref's before the game and also reminded the ref's right before the play, so there wouldn't be any accidental whistles.

Unless there is something I am missing 13:23 is textbook infield fly rule. • Runners on first and second • Less than two outs • Pop-up that could be easily caught by an infielder with normal effort. That play shouldn't have ever happened.
I was thinking at first that the pitcher is not considered an infielder for this rule, but I was incorrect. MLB infield fly rule considers catcher, pitcher, all regular infielders and any outfielder who stations himself in the infield for that pitch to be infielders. Plate umpire blew the call.
Still a heads up play to realise the ump didn't call it and to immediately take advantage, but yeah, if I were a twins player I'd be pretty pissed at the ump
12:29 lmao playground rules. Man I remember being in grade school and everyone just trying their best to throw the ball at the other guy's shin to make it go out of bounds
The very first one is real sus. He waves his arm in front of his body before he caught the ball, so if #31 blows him up it's absolutely a flag. He's just abusing a rule meant to protect him, and that's not good for the game at all.
Cant's see the feet, so I'm not SURE you're correct - but it looked VERY likely you are correct and the ref right there DID have a good position to see it.
If you look at the exact frame he makes contact with the ball, the question is did he land even 1 foot in. Second foot was out, so he was out of bounds.
Baez letting the ball bounce to get the double play is especially impressive given the fact it was the playoffs. you mess that up, and the whole game couldve changed which wouldve changed the series too. Crazy
2:20 Faking a slide should be illegal. Ten yard penalty from the spot of the foul. Once a QB motions to slide, they're giving up, defense is supposed to back off. This is to prevent injuries to the quarterback, as the defense would kill the QB.
That Baez one, I coached a team where a similarly lazy liner that the 1B had to go back on was called an infield fly. That was bull shit, but so was not calling this one. The play is literally the reason for an infield fly. Now, the one where there was just the one runner, that's fair game. The reason they got the double play there was because the runner made a stupid decision to run to second instead of just stepping on first base which was literally two feet from where he was standing.
@@Carter.sanders1 Nope. Fewer than two outs and a force at third possible. It's been in the rule book for over a hundred years. In the Angels-Twins game, the first base ump raised his right arm but stopped at his head. This confused the rest to not make the right call. And umps are embarrassed if they are seen admitting to a mistake so the morons didn't overturn it.
Should have been called back, even at the time IMO. It was a big game (ACCCG), and the winner was moving on to a big game (Orange Bowl) as well. Abusing existing rules that are meant to protect YOU and other QB's isn't what championship teams do. If he had gotten leveled on the play, the defense would have gotten a penalty. There was no way for Wake to win on that play. Wish we could see the outcome of that game had that been waived off.
i remember that one lakers player that snuck and stole the ball from Dragic. His name was Marcelo Huertas, yall might remember him when he tried to shoot the ball backwards 😂😂😂
19:31 Best part of this play is the hustle of #15. First, he fields the kick. Then after handing it off to #14, he keeps sprinting downfield and ends up throwing the TD-preserving block at the opponents' 35-yard line.
14:08 Jeez. This is uncanny. That exact same thing happened to me. Same side, same position. They did an onside kick and it came straight at me. I dove on ball and bloop it bounces right out, there was a pileup, and they recovered it. This happened thirty years ago and it's stayed fresh in my mind ever since.
@Hank Fairchild as an american (wealthy and relatively low cost of living) who did play high school club hockey for a year, I can tell you why you're way off: youth hockey is the most expensive, time consuming youth sport in the world. why on earth would someone buy their 10 year old a full set of gear that he'll outgrow in 1 year for the next 5-8 years? do you realize how absurdly expensive youth hockey is even before you get into travel leagues and parent time sinks? I enjoy hockey as a sport, but it's cost prohibitive in ways that soccer and baseball are not. then there's accessibility of rinks. The only time my team was able to even get ice time for practice was at 5am on week days before school. That makes it 5x-10x more difficult to play than football (also a sport that is cost prohibitive) depending on where you live. unfortunately, hockey just just not going to ever be soccer, baseball, or basketball. even american football is a lot more accessible (and it suffers a lot of the same issues as hockey).
This, above all comps I’ve seen, is THEE best one to reignite your lifelong love of sports. ALL major American sports. What an awesome collection of pure magic. 🤘👏👏
Another 1000 IQ play like the Kesler one that I got to see live was Vernon Fiddler taking a defensive zone faceoff for the Stars, one goal game with I want to say 10 seconds left on the clock. The idea is to just keep the puck away from the other team, so as soon as the ref drops the puck Vern faceplants right on top of it, curls up in a defensive position while the other team (Calgary I think) attempted to dig the puck out, it finally comes free but by this time they can't get established and the clock runs out securing the victory for Dallas.
The basketball play where he threw the inbounds pass off the back of the opposing player should have been whistled dead, and the ball given to the team in white. The foot of the player making the inbound pass was still on the ground OUT OF BOUNDS when he caught the ball. I’ve had this exact play in a college game and made that call, which was the CORRECT call. Refs missed that one.
13:23 That wasn't really a "1000 IQ" play. They have the infield fly rule [at the ump's discretion] to waive it off because it is an obvious thing to do. The umpire simply didn't choose to invoke the rule.

It wasn't illegal then. However, the play became illegal after that week. So genius that the rules got changed.
16:41 this is amazing by rondo; he will always be one of my favorite players
He puts Boogie to guard the closest corner which eliminates any 3 point shot from there
He puts a man on the close wing and a man on the top of the key to pick up anyone coming off any screens
The man on the top of the key can also rotate to help on the far wing if the man on the far wing gets caught on a screen
He purposefully leaves the far corner open because it would be the farthest and most difficult pass to make
He puts himself in the middle to help close out on any location if someone gets caught up on a screen
This is why i love rajon rondo
The fact chris paul knew that rule is impressive

Shit like that why he is head of the players association lol
The fact that he pulled that Mickey Mouse garbage to get an advantage in the game is pathetic

Ed Reed was an absolute MASTER of the FS position there’s no one that will ever do it like him again
Like him? No. You are correct. However, there have been many great FS that did it their own way and we're also amazing. Ronnie Lott played CB, FS and SS. He was best at FS. A total ball hawk.
Rod Woodson had a HoF caliber career career at CB, then moved to FS and had another HoF caliber career at that position as well. What he did at either would have earned him a gold Jacket without having had done the other. Some guys are so great, they could earn a their bust twice or three times over.

Can’t believe this list didn’t have 05 Devin Hester catching a missed field goal by the Giants, faking like he’s gonna walk off the field, and then returning it 108 yards for a touchdown
That Saints onside kick is one of the greatest moments in Super Bowl history.
ALL DAY!!! Sean Payton went for the throat on that one and I seriously believe we (Yes I'm a Saints fan) were likely gonna see a quick Peyton Manning TD drive if he hadn't done it. It completely threw the Colts off. If you remember, Dwight Freeney was nursing a badly sprained ankle with a Hyperbaric Chamber to reduce swelling so he didn't have his shoes or anything on when Sean did that. Ballsy as hell and still, in my opinion, the biggest gamble in Super Bowl history. WHODAT!!
I'm a Mobilian (so naturally a Saints fan). Everyone on my street was inside their houses with the windows and doors shut, when this happened you could hear the cheers!!! There was an impromptu party after that game right out in the middle of my neighborhood. I did my part that season....I had to have my Saints hat upside-down on my coffee table, and I didn't miss one play all season. I even pissed out the window once while watching just so I wouldn't miss anything. My wife was a big Saints fan, she would always say "The Saints are gonna lose this one". That was her way of making sure the Saints won. Her brother was leaving our house in week 4 that season with his hand on the doorknob when the Saints scored. He wound up buying a doorknob and held it in his hands for every game for the rest of the season! Who Dat!!
No one was wondering, we know football
@@chachmon5180 Matthew Stafford didn't apparently
@@smeagol-bp3wr It was 3rd and 8, I don't think the intent of the play is to tick the clock. If they wanted to tick the clock, he could have just went down on the ground instead of going backwards and losing a yard. I think something else went wrong with play (because it was awful, OBJ had no chance at all) that Stafford is frustrated about.

I like how Gordon slams the entire staff and Felix still cares about the Pizza- Fork army.

Umm think we're talking about the same kicker, the one that played for the Colts, the guy who actually did it more than once. 10:28 the way the security guard gets crushed by the players always gives me a good laugh
As a ref. That partial wave is a fair catch. But sure okay 😂
i said the same thing. Competent refs would have stopped that play
That tiny movement he did with his left hand would never be called a fair catch, otherwise tons of people would get accidentally whistled as fair catches. You suck at your job.
I thought so too but I rewatched it there was not even a partial wave.
@@rayahnsingleton3215 Well, he's doing some kind of "hand jive" below his waist!
@@rayahnsingleton3215 The first glimpse of the player catching the ball, he waves his hands at about stomach high. The argument was, he was waving his teammates off. The play should have been whistled dead.

Unless there is something I am missing 13:23 is textbook infield fly rule.
• Runners on first and second
• Less than two outs
• Pop-up that could be easily caught by an infielder with normal effort.
That play shouldn't have ever happened.
Sure the only reason it isn't is that the ump didn't signal it, by rule that means that the play operates as normal.
@@deathstar008 Yeah, my point mainly was that the umps dropped the ball by allowing the pitcher to...drop the ball.
I was thinking at first that the pitcher is not considered an infielder for this rule, but I was incorrect. MLB infield fly rule considers catcher, pitcher, all regular infielders and any outfielder who stations himself in the infield for that pitch to be infielders. Plate umpire blew the call.
Glad I don't have to say it
Still a heads up play to realise the ump didn't call it and to immediately take advantage, but yeah, if I were a twins player I'd be pretty pissed at the ump
These highlights are exactly why I watch sports.

I was at the hawks vs niner game, none of us in the stadium knew what was going on until he was half way down the field, it was nuts
The very first one is real sus. He waves his arm in front of his body before he caught the ball, so if #31 blows him up it's absolutely a flag. He's just abusing a rule meant to protect him, and that's not good for the game at all.
That play is also illegal now. You can not fake a fair catch just to avoid getting hit and then run when opponent gives up the play.

Crazy

@@Thrasher0411 I think it objectively needs to be banned but I wish something like that could work without being free yards or an increase in injury
2:20 Faking a slide should be illegal. Ten yard penalty from the spot of the foul.
Once a QB motions to slide, they're giving up, defense is supposed to back off.
This is to prevent injuries to the quarterback, as the defense would kill the QB.
A bunch of the Baseball ones could be considered the infield fly rule.
No because bases have 2 be loaded
