The best thing about effing up a play while playing for Baltimore is that you play for Baltimore so there probably isn't anyone better to take your spot.
I'm pretty sure the video title is supposed to say 0% iq because a lot of these clips are players forgetting how many outs there are. I thought the title was a typo too
Especially when you switch back and forth between RTS, and Franchise mode. I dont get why they change the button layout for it, just keep it the same, I get I'm on the field but damn.
It’s intentional. It’s called a push bunt. 1 out , batter sacrifice to move the runner from 2nd to 3rd but purposely missed as he didn’t need to make the sacrifice after all bc 3rd was wide open for a steal attempt
Back in the day before pitchers got "specialized" (SP, Long relief, short relief, 8th or 9th inning guy, set-up guy, closer) clubs would have 4 or 5 starters and unless the game was very close or in the balance, it was their game, period! I was an Angel fan when we had Nolan and they left that poor guy out there in blow-outs, pitching 160-180 pitches. I don't know how he lasted 20 years doing that!
People always seem to forget just how important baserunning is. Some games you spend more time on the base paths than at the plate. Gotta remain aware until you’re in the dugout.
It's funny how perspective matters so much. I just watched a video called "baseball 1,000,000 IQ plays". They were the exact same types of plays except that one focused on the guy taking the extra base because no one covered. This one focused on the guy who didn't cover. 1 guess 1 man's 0 IQ play is another man's 1,000,000 IQ play and you can't have 1 without the other. If someone never takes the extra base then no one is an idiot for not covering. And if someone doesn't forget to cover the base then the other man wouldn't get to be the genius for taking it
It really is all perspective, funny how that works out. The one screwing up is being dumb while the one taking advantage of it is normal vs the one screwing up is normal and the one taking advantage of that is genius
Just wanna say that I absofrigginlutely love how Ichiro starts running to 1st as he's swinging at the ball...he's such a fast runner already and doing what he does gives him even more of an edge making it ridonkulously hard to throw him out
Forgetting how many outs there are is pure baseball. Yeah, it's a dumb move. But stuff like this is what makes baseball so unique among other pro sports. Mistakes are so easily apparent to literally everyone watching, immediately. And that human element, among so many others, is what makes baseball so great. This human element should never change.
Baseball is probably the most intellectual game out there. If you're not constantly thinking 2 or 3 steps ahead, you're in trouble. That's why infielders always put up 1 or 2 fingers after making an out, just to remind everyone of how many outs there are.
The first clip, in my opinion, is just an example of smart runner-batter tactics. Notice the batter showed bunt before the pitch came. This pulled the third baseman into bunt defense and out of base coverage, allowing the runner to steal. By showing bunt before the pitch, the batter forced the third baseman to choose between giving up a bunt up the third base foul line or giving the runner third on the steal.
6:55 Defense got away with obstruction. You see the runner pointing to the umpire and the umpire signaling safe (i.e., no obstruction), but you can clearly see the runner had to pull up a bit to avoid a fielder who didn't have the ball.
