    Glad to hear you're feeling better and your hard work perusing a viable treatment option, paid off. So many of us continue to fight our doctors who vehemently insist thyroidectomy is a simple procedure.

    Rfa treatment is about $6000 a session and insurance most likely will not cover it

    • @ItsmeJenagain
      @ItsmeJenagain  วันที่ผ่านมา

      It varies a lot from one location to another. And some insurances have covered. If you compare the out of pocket costs for a surgery that is covered by insurance, you may find it is not very different. Also, with surgery, you lose the thyroid and need lifelong thyroid medication.

      My nodule was 65-75 ml, so about 4.5 × 7 cm. It has reduced 90 percent and is now only 6 ml. There is no scar on my neck from my 2 procedures.

    I just had the same procedure at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. I came onto TH-cam to see if I can get more information about the healing process and how long it takes for the thyroid to decrease after the RFA process. So, I came across your video. But, I still have no idea how long it takes for this to happen. Honestly, I'm going on my second week since the procedure and I'm just excited!

    Did they tell you that it could still be cancer after the test came back negative for cancer? I don’t want to remove mine but they are saying it’s so big that I should just remove it. I really do not want to remove it with all the other side effects.

      @KassidyLaFleche I can't recall exactly, but I paid a total of $2-3k per procedure across various bills for different parts of the procedure (Dr fee, facility fee, etc). But my procedures were in 2019 and 2020, and a lot has changed since then. Also, each insurance policy is different.

    This is so great ! Very happy for you. I've got benign multi nodular thyroid. But the doctors that I've visited so far here in India have refused to do a RFA and suggest surgery. I'm absolutely healthy other wise. It's so disheartening as I keep having pain pretty often as well not over bearing but just annoying. If you know of any hospitals in India that can be helpful please please do let me know .Much love and blessings.xoxo

    • @ItsmeJenagain
      @ItsmeJenagain  ปีที่แล้ว

      I felt improvement within days, but the full benefit takes time (for me about 6 months) and depends on the nodule's size and composition.

    RFA vs Surgery is always going to be a tough call ..

    • @ItsmeJenagain
      @ItsmeJenagain  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it depends on your situation. There are situations where nonsurgical options are much preferred, while sometimes surgery is still necessary. If a patient is a good candidate for a nonsurgical option, it will preserve their thyroid function and quality of life.

    • @ItsmeJenagain
      @ItsmeJenagain  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends. Do you have compressive symptoms? Do you have a dominant large nodule? If so, then probably. If not, you may not need treatment. If you whole thyroid is enlarged due to many smaller nodules, you may want to look into a procedure called TAE.
