Tunic Review - The Final Verdict

- Overall, Tunic is one of those games that totally leans into its execution to tremendous effect. It doesn’t reinvent or revolutionize its core concepts as much as I would have liked, nor does it bring any one gameplay component into the fold that I haven’t seen before, but the way it does patch everything together with its own sense of style is something to behold for the genre.
Despite being a little light on depth and lacking a major gameplay hook of its own, I suspect most who pursue this adventure will find little, if anything, they don’t admire about it.
It's such a huge problem that most reviewers even don't have a clue about the whole golden path thing or any of the endgame content, because that's what elevated Tunic from a good game to one of the most amazing games ever made.
this game looks like zelda. im thinking about this for ps5. into more of these types lately like i’m trying bugsnax now as well. the graphics look cool and different. I think i’m tired of shooters and dark adventure games.

Spirit realm
Gold path
And like you said every reviewer I've seen seems to have only gotten to the first area which isn't even to the filling of the pie!!

I have my ps for their exclusives, I have my sexbox for everything else. 1st party/gamepass, 3rd party and everything else I play there. The a.punt of gaming I get from ganepass faaaaar outweighs sonys exclusives...at least right now. For 1 70 dollar game, I can get half a year of gp. There's really no question there. Am I gunna replay that game for a half yr? No sirrie. Idc how great it is, there's no way in fack I'm doing that. This is why competition is a good thing. Sony obv took notice with project Spartacus in the works.

Oh sweet it’s on Gamepass! Been waiting to play this and I’m happy to hear it’s a solid game with Zelda inspiration, and being able to download it day one as a part of my subscription is the cherry on top.

More inspired by Death's Door, which was released a year before it.
It gives me "Death's Door" vibes, which was one of last year's hidden gems I just finished last month. Say no more...downloading now. The greatest Xbox misunderstanding from ecosystem outsiders...Xbox Gamepass = Xbox Live Arcade (Freeplay subscription).

Lmao I thought the game was broken too bcuz I saw their language and some English. I was like welp time to wait for a patch until they get it right…we are so use to that these days but it’s suppose the be that way I later found out online.

@@xCanuckfan16x if you use the wand and ice dagger at the same time to shoot a freeze projectile. Freeze her, hit 3 times dodge, repeat. She doesn't even do her other movesets.

The controls are not at all responsive. Death’s door nailed the controls. This game fails miserably. There is a slight delay between the attack animation and roll mechanics that always leaves you open to attacks. Frustrating!
Less I-Frames. After beating both, your timing on dodge's in Tunic requires you to time it better, more like a souls game. Love both games, but I'd put Tunic above Deaths Door in overall story, mystery, experience, and gameplay.

Nice game
I heard good things about this game being one of the top indies you must play(so I did since it was on gamepass) and after experiencing it for myself I can see why.
The music is beautiful and calming.
Now the combat can be a bit frustrating since you need to press LB (in Xbox)to change weapons or use consumables. I wish there was a better way to implement inputs while in combat without going into the menu and switching your shortcuts constantly. I also experienced getting stuck in the environment quite a few times and sometimes the path wasn't very clear when going under hidden areas.
The blue gem took me the longest to uncover and the last boss was brutal

Other than that exploration is amazing in this game and the manual has everything you need to figure out your journey

EDIT: turns out the items I thought were power ups have to be used at a fox shrine! Yeah, the cutesy manual isn’t really good at conveying anything-as is shown by the fact they mesh their made up language and English in a jarring mishmash of horrible.
That just speaks more about your skill at picking up contextual clues more than anything
Part of the fun is figuring out how stuff works. Most of it is clear enough from the manual, the rest is a fun challenge to me.
