    The seating where the airbox seals with the MAF can be placed incorrectly if you don’t put the airbox on right! Make sure that the airbox is seated properly, this seems like a great first think to check and it costs nothing and it fixed my issue.

    So frustrated with my 1997 E420. It has the M119 and there are no videos helping me out and it is very confusing. I’m not trying to spend $500 at a shop too

      Well I would say first thing get a obd2 fault code reader plug it up under the driver side dash. Then tackle the codes one by one. These cars are a pleasure to drive but a time consuming process to repair

      @@piscatawaymechanic I already did because the idle was terrible and it was lurching forward at low speed and the 2 codes came back and said maf sensor. What do i do it’s different removal than a e430 and it’s pretty confusing

    Can I have a failing maf and not have codes? I'm having bad idle and misfire issues. Already did injectors, coil packs, plugs and ignition wires. Going crazy with my S430. ☠

      Hello. Yeah with my s55 it took a few months with like a bucking and hesitation at idle and taking off. For the mass air flow sensor to say it’s faulty.. now this car is very complicated because the wiring harness could be failing, the ecu , blown fuse .. but keep checking the obd2 codes it will eventually Pop up.. if u don’t mind buying a new mass air flow sensor it will never hurt to replace the old sensor with a new oem one. Just Don’t buy it aftermarket.. so hopefully that helps u.

      @@piscatawaymechanic I just received a Bosch maf from FPC today but was hesitant to keep it cause it seemed like a waste but maybe it will help. My current Bosch maf is only 2 years old and I only drive about 6k miles a year. My idle sounds and feels like a hot rod with cams.. My compression on the 3 problematic cylinders was at right around 180. Cylinder 5 is constantly showing "faults" that get cleared right before they hit 20 and it never throws an official code or check engine light. Just 3 misfires and I get the TWC code along with it. On smooth running cylinder 5 hits like 20 sometimes at idle. I have no clue what the heck is going on there. Thanks for responding. Look forward to learning from your videos.

    5:00, it's supposed to click going into the Intake Manifold and it didn't.. you have an issue and it may not have seated correctly.

      Depends on how strong ur clip is to be honest. Mine never made any sounds and is currently seated.. have to be careful with old plastic parts. Sometimes they will randomly snap off pressing on them to hard 😬

      @@piscatawaymechanic That might be it tbh, just a worn clip that just doesn't snap anymore but still locks it in place. Thank you for the video!

    My car hesitates and I have to stomp down on gas pedal to go after changing air filter I wonder if this is the issue

    • @piscatawaymechanic
      @piscatawaymechanic  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s hard to pinpoint unless you take out your obd2 fault code reader and hook it up under the drive side dash port. If u don’t have one. Stop by autozone for a free obd2 reading ..
      see what fault codes are show errors
      This is the best place to start with Mercedes
      But just off a random guess. It could be your gas pedal or the mass air flow sensor. I have replaced them on my s55 and have videos on how to replace them if needed

      @@piscatawaymechanic I found out my intake was not connected to my air filter due to my motor mounts having my engine sitting to low

      My '99 E55 does this as well sometimes, only at 1/4-1/2 throttle it gets confused and hesitates right around the shift point. I got an engine light for a maf sensor so hopefully that's the issue here.

    What r the symptoms of that failing

    • @piscatawaymechanic
      @piscatawaymechanic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      well the car didn't run smoothly . thats when you should get out any obd2 code scanner you have ..after plugging it into the port under the dash on the driver side .. the code p0103 or p0104 was showing.. which indicates bad mass air flow sensor.. so what ever you do ,just make sure to scan for any obd2 codes first ..this will save time and money
