This era Mercedes cars are so much than just cars... My W124 feels like new after 32 years, I don't think modern cars will look or perform the same in 30 years time...
All Mercedes of old are excellent but my favourite one is the w140 coupe and the saloon. I also like the w124 these are proper Mercedes benz. After the w140 mercedes unfortunately went downhill rapidly.
Wonderful video! I am driving w140 for 8 years now. I am on my second one. First one was 3000 USD in wonderful condition, which I gave up on when I found another even better one for 1700 USD. I think I will keep on driving w140s in the future. Such a great ride. I lowered mine with H&R springs. Now it has the stance it is looking good with. Best wishes from another W140 enthusiast
@@snggarageeng I have S320, not a 500. By the way, I do have a e38 as well, which always has difficult to fix problems as several components need to be programmed to the car. I prefer the W140 over the E38 due to the difficulties to fix the e38
s500 new in 1999 and 2020 still running strong and all ive done is change the oil and tires and brakes thats it still daily driver and still beautiful and its still a head turner

If you have free time, explore JDM models like toyota exiv, toyota ED, cresta, mark II, chaser, premio, allion, alphard, noah, voxy, isis (yes!), sienta, wish, raum, spacio, estima lucida/emina.
The shape of the car is just... lost for words - the right shape a car should be. This is the ONE. Especially in black gloss piano black and shiny chrome against the golden rays of the setting sun and palm trees swaying in the shadows... brings you back to another time of the world long gone and destroyed by humans.

I test drove a few S class 500s back in 95, used ones, maxed out, from Vancouver. Japanese owned and meticulously cared for. However, the driving experience seemed rather clunky, the transmissions were not fluid. I had been spoiled by my fathers Tank,,, a 1978 Cadillac sedan Deville de elegance, my first car for eight years. At 375,000 K I got it, LOL. I ended up buying a used 89k, 1992, LS 400Lexus which, as you said, out sold the Mercedes 2 to 1. I kept the car a few years and sold it to my friend. He drove it up to 500,000 km with minimal maintenance. Then I bought an E430. 4Matic year, 2000. Maxed out. [The first year for Benz to put out a V 8 in a 4matic sedan.]. After the five year warranty expired, keeping the Mercedes was too distressing as it was a lemon. So I bought an LS 430 Lexus 2001 ultra premium luxury package. Then I had two luxury sedans for three years. I kept my Lexus at my friend’s house, 100 miles away as I only have one parking spot in my Toronto underground condo. One day a friend and I went on a drive to Detroit. We drove the Benz halfway then picked up the Lexus to began the second potion of our journey. I couldn’t believe the difference when I started driving the Lexus. It was so silky smooth and quiet and more comfortable than the brand new Benz. I was astonished and so was my friend. Of course that’s what Lexus set out to do, to show up Benz and they did. Then, years later, like everybody else I believe that the LS 460, particularly the long wheelbase all Wheel AWD Lexus was the cats miaow to go and chase. Of course I’m infatuated with car magazines and TH-cam regarding car. So I read a lot about the LS 460 and devoured all sorts of video reviews before buying one. Many Prior owners of the LS 430 said, “I wish I never sold my LS 430.” So I bought the 2010 long wheelbase all wheel drive with 80,000 km and kept 2001 LS 430. I’m so happy I have both of them. I’m a happy man just like you. I can’t imagine buying any other car. The only fixation I cant shake is that for the 2020 Phantom EWB.. + [ Bentley Mulsanne EWB] And that’s way out of my league 😂 . So I totally understand how you love the S class W140. I’ve always love them and still do.
J_sun Barry I see you’re into BMWs M types. Had 14 BMWs on our street back in the day, there are none left. people learn their lesson, they’re all lemons. Just like the Mercedes and Audi’s. Beautiful cars but they have zero reliability. Before you go shooting your mouth off you should check JD power quality and reliability reports if you want to learn something about cars. Look for the last 20 years and see who’s up there Dude. Beauties in the eye of the beholder, reliability is found in statistics.

I found it in Japan with 767 Km’s on board. Now it’s got 2100. The other CL 600 is a Silver with black interior and I got it from Germany a few years ago. It’s has 23000 Km’s now. And my daily driver is another Silver CL 500. They are the best a man can dream of.😀

This exact spec in the video and another one I saw on another video are the most beautiful w140’s I’ve personally seen. The final two years with the one tone paint exterior and monoblock rims were to die for.

@@snggarageeng you didn’t ask me but in my opinion I think 🤔 the 126 is pure class and opulence especially when in new condition, and the 140 is more gaudy, yet beautiful and contemporary. I love them both but I think my first one to collect would be the 126. It’s a very hard decision.

Very nice, but-i didnt see the split rear seat's recline feature, or reading spot light. Or icebox...some models did come equipped as such, i believe special order.
Don't be sad. I love the w140 extremely! And especially with that Carat pack. I made real serious search on what is the best of the best and the Lexus LS430 won it big time from the w140. Its softer, more comfortable, more silence, WAY cheaper to maintain and it cant break. 2 million km.. no problem. The LS430 is really the best car in the world ever made. And it has the looks that Bruno wanted to give to the w140. Bruno only doesn't like high roof tops and he is right!
But without the high roof, it would look too long, longer even than the W128. Besides, the high roof gives it the air of royalty. I LOVE driving mine and being almost as tall as SUVs, without looking like an offroader.

i had the 600SEC/CL600 version of it , i had most of the coupés from mercedes after 1970, but i had to stop them and start to buy the diesel version of the four doors model. I bought them all as in second hand (show cars) it was a fortune in gasoline where i live, Portugal or Hell as you prefer, regards and stay safe
I think you missed the point here. If Mercedes spent that money it was not to invent those things it was to integrate it into the THEIR car. To develop a brand new car with all these features and nail the refinement and test it all so much costs money. The sheer build alone on this car was expensive to produce. I too love my W140 S500 so I get it.
normally they get worse the more recent they are. I have a diesel w 221 from 2006 and it´s a very good car ,it´s fast and economical at the same time but i do prefer the 1973 500SE(with hidraulic suspenction that levels the car no matter the weight you put on it), wich i only have the 350SE(w116)the one to have was the 450 SE 6.9, those are great cars ,also have the previous model the 1969 ,280 S (w108)my first car after taking the driver permit . Normally those made under daimler ownership of mercedes (daimler-mercedes as it says inside the engine compartment on every mercedes from that era) are all good, this was till late 90´s. @@snggarageeng i have a proper opinion about that , there´s lots of good cars made by daimler.mercedes but i think the best ever made was the 1973 500SE but i also find the w115 from 1975 with the 240D (diesel engine) maybe the most resistant car ever made also they´re older brothers but also have a special pleasure driving the 280SL from 1967(known as Pagode )with hardtop but as a imp+rovement in technology the 87 500SL as the SEC earlier released with any of their powerfull V8´s but as considered at the time in their last production the W124 with the 250 D engine the best car in the world taking in consideration all specifications that today measure what a perfect car should be including all the hibryd and electrical cars that are beneath this particular model, a car today should be enviroment friendly as it was choosen to be the land-rover defender with diesel engine also above all electric cars that in reality are a problem regarding the limited life they have as a daily driver and the materials they are built have a non biodegradable car and with limited life of use it were considered a true problem regarding the disposable of them filling the today´s junkyards ,also to do not forget the nuclear power plants who produce almost all electricity spent in Europe, they are only a scheme to through sand in the eyes of consumers, so i think the 1973 500SE it´s the best mercedes developed till today ,including the variety of engines that were available in the W116 model, regards and stay safe
Aged leather is soft. I agree the quality of the leather may be better. But you need to understand that 100k price tag is ridiculously high. Modern day pricing that is comparable to a maybach. So its not fair in pricing to compare it to a modern s class. And i respect your opinion but in this case you are wrong a modern s class is wayyyyy more luxurious compared to back then. It literally has 1/3 of the features so with that statistic alone its not good. Great video and i liked and subscribed

I feel this way every day I drive my 1996 S500. It’s a truly amazing car on every level. 235k miles, and guests still are amazed by the ride.

SNG Garage Eng Yes I consider myself lucky. I been hunting for these beauties for the past five years. The black Lorinser is a 97’ model and it’s a dream to drive. I found it in Japan with 767 Km’s on board. Now it’s got 2100. The other CL 600 is a Silver with black interior and I got it from Germany a few years ago. It’s has 23000 Km’s now. And my daily driver is another Silver CL 500. They are the best a man can dream of.😀

Beautiful videos! i had 1999 S-320 w140, 4drs. l loved it, but was hitting on the trunk when was parking on the street. It was total loss about three years ago. And I have 2002 V12 S-600 and loved it. Again, thanks for the Videos!!!

@@snggarageeng you didn’t ask me but in my opinion I think 🤔 the 126 is pure class and opulence especially when in new condition, and the 140 is more gaudy, yet beautiful and contemporary. I love them both but I think my first one to collect would be the 126. It’s a very hard decision.

Very nice, but-i didnt see the split rear seat's recline feature, or reading spot light. Or icebox...some models did come equipped as such, i believe special order.

Don't be sad. I love the w140 extremely! And especially with that Carat pack. I made real serious search on what is the best of the best and the Lexus LS430 won it big time from the w140. Its softer, more comfortable, more silence, WAY cheaper to maintain and it cant break. 2 million km.. no problem. The LS430 is really the best car in the world ever made. And it has the looks that Bruno wanted to give to the w140. Bruno only doesn't like high roof tops and he is right!
It is good car but not stable at high speed cruising. I sat in one, I felt after 150 it lose it stability compare to w140.

But without the high roof, it would look too long, longer even than the W128. Besides, the high roof gives it the air of royalty. I LOVE driving mine and being almost as tall as SUVs, without looking like an offroader.

i had the 600SEC/CL600 version of it , i had most of the coupés from mercedes after 1970, but i had to stop them and start to buy the diesel version of the four doors model. I bought them all as in second hand (show cars) it was a fortune in gasoline where i live, Portugal or Hell as you prefer, regards and stay safe

I think you missed the point here. If Mercedes spent that money it was not to invent those things it was to integrate it into the THEIR car. To develop a brand new car with all these features and nail the refinement and test it all so much costs money. The sheer build alone on this car was expensive to produce. I too love my W140 S500 so I get it.
i think money was spend on improving features not creating them
normally they get worse the more recent they are. I have a diesel w 221 from 2006 and it´s a very good car ,it´s fast and economical at the same time but i do prefer the 1973 500SE(with hidraulic suspenction that levels the car no matter the weight you put on it), wich i only have the 350SE(w116)the one to have was the 450 SE 6.9, those are great cars ,also have the previous model the 1969 ,280 S (w108)my first car after taking the driver permit . Normally those made under daimler ownership of mercedes (daimler-mercedes as it says inside the engine compartment on every mercedes from that era) are all good, this was till late 90´s. @@snggarageeng i have a proper opinion about that , there´s lots of good cars made by daimler.mercedes but i think the best ever made was the 1973 500SE but i also find the w115 from 1975 with the 240D (diesel engine) maybe the most resistant car ever made also they´re older brothers but also have a special pleasure driving the 280SL from 1967(known as Pagode )with hardtop but as a imp+rovement in technology the 87 500SL as the SEC earlier released with any of their powerfull V8´s but as considered at the time in their last production the W124 with the 250 D engine the best car in the world taking in consideration all specifications that today measure what a perfect car should be including all the hibryd and electrical cars that are beneath this particular model, a car today should be enviroment friendly as it was choosen to be the land-rover defender with diesel engine also above all electric cars that in reality are a problem regarding the limited life they have as a daily driver and the materials they are built have a non biodegradable car and with limited life of use it were considered a true problem regarding the disposable of them filling the today´s junkyards ,also to do not forget the nuclear power plants who produce almost all electricity spent in Europe, they are only a scheme to through sand in the eyes of consumers, so i think the 1973 500SE it´s the best mercedes developed till today ,including the variety of engines that were available in the W116 model, regards and stay safe

Aged leather is soft. I agree the quality of the leather may be better. But you need to understand that 100k price tag is ridiculously high. Modern day pricing that is comparable to a maybach. So its not fair in pricing to compare it to a modern s class. And i respect your opinion but in this case you are wrong a modern s class is wayyyyy more luxurious compared to back then. It literally has 1/3 of the features so with that statistic alone its not good. Great video and i liked and subscribed
