1.80 official pyraminx average! (12th in the world)

I'm so happy. This is by far the best cubing achievement I've got so far. I've had a string of mediocre pyraminx averages in the last 6 months, just getting consistent mid-2s, so to get this massive average feels so good.
This was also part of the world record pyraminx podium so that's cool.
I have a lot of thoughts and am going to write them here. Read it if you care.
I did very little preparation for this competition, as I am doing my A-Level exams at the moment. I have been averaging around 2.2 at home so I was hoping to beat my old PR of 2.37 but was not expecting sub-2 just yet. Obviously averaging 2.2 makes you very able to get sub-2, you just need some good scrambles and some good nerve control, which I got, but anyway, I wasn't expecting this.
The first round went really badly. Based on the scrambles, I should have got a 2.1 average, but I got a 3.1 instead because I massively messed up the last 2 solves. At this point, I had basically written the competition off in terms of beating the 2.37, just hoping to come at least 2nd in the final.
After the first 2 solves of the final, I was feeling very differently, and when I got the 2.14, I knew I just needed another sub-2 for a sub-2 average, and I had 2 tries at it. At this point, I already knew Daniel Partridge got a 1.57 average, so I wasn't worried about beating the 1.82 former NR, so I could just focus on making sure I got sub-2.
You can see on the video how much I was shaking in the build up to my 4th solve. I've thought about that hypothetical situation a lot in the last few months. A situation where I know what I need for a sub-2 average, and have the scramble to do it. Also, in the first round, I failed the 4th and 5th scrambles because I was nervous about a potential good average, so you can imagine how nervous I was about a potential sub-2 average.
I was so happy when I successfully did the 4th solve and confirmed sub-2. This has been my long term goal for a while and it's finally happened.
The fifth solve was a funny one. Should have been so much better (well a lot of them should have but this one literally could have been NR single if I got it in a more mundane average) However, it was still my best one, so it doesn't matter. I was just surprised after this one to be honest, I had full faith in myself to lock up on that solve and that didn't happen.
Obviously the scrambles were quite easy, but at the end of the day, you don't get a sub-2 average by just getting easy scrambles. You need to be good enough at pyraminx and nerve control to do so, and I did that. I think this average shows my real potential better than my old PR, and I'm sure that I'll get more good averages in the future and prove that this was not just a fluke due to silly scrambles.
So yeah, I'm 4th in Europe and 12th in the world. I've put a lot of work into pyraminx and I'm so happy it has finally paid off. I'm much happier about this average than either of the NR singles.
Daniel's 1.57 pretty much confirms that I'll never hold the NR average, but I don't mind too much. I've got the NR single so I've held an NR, and I've got a sub-2 average, which was my long term goal. I don't really know where I'll go with pyraminx now, as I've now achieved one of my major goals. I think I'll keep practicing and push for a podium at the next European Championship, but I'll just see where things go after my exams.

AS it looks in the video, I think there was a two move v on yellow for the last solve. I'm not sure if you're V solution was better though.
Yeah I think that one's better but I knew I could get BPA on my solution so I just went with that because it was the first thing I saw
