I think this was the most interesting lesson so far, the whole thing was for me like 'aaaaahh clouds have parted i see clearly now!' I love you adding your thoughts at the end on theory, it was all very helpful.
Thank you! So much useful information about the dim chord (I love its sound!) and how it can be applied. I am so grateful for the work you put into these videos.
your work has a real value to me - therefore I sent you some money via paypal. (to put my money where my mouth is ;-) thx again and keep up your excellent work. PS enjoyed very much your concert in Konzerthaus Berlin in February 24.
This dim chord thing is so amazing, it is magic once you have it clear in your head. I recommend watching it a few times, the light bulb finally came on for me. Hahaha. What a great tool to have, it can add amazing colour to your chord progression and like anything, once you get it, it's easy. Thanks so much Sven, great lesson, great teacher. Cheers
Thanks Sven, you did grip me understand dims a little better. I will probably watch this video a few times, I find that this helps. Good man Sven. Take care and be safe.
Thanks so much Sven, this is years of study to be able to use this effectively on the bandstand. Now I need to merge this knowledge with an old Emily Remler lesson on using the jazz minor scale over dominant chords! Many, many more months of study!
Thank you so much for creating actual good content on TH-cam, and pass along your knowledge of complex stuff in such a nice and simple way, man. Cheers - would subscribe 10 times if I could. One of the best youtube channels I saw around with jazz tutorials - and I have been through many!
Thanks Sven, good sounding Gypsy jazz subtitution now for many songs like 'Softly As The Morning Sunrrise" so intsead of the Standard Cm 2 5 D dim and B dim, or all combo's with.. Nice man, Thanks
Sven - I missed the point in Troublant with the GDim before the Gma. Are you saying that is a sub for something or is that a new use for the Dim - to delay the resolution to the tonic?
Thank's for this. I commented a while back on my difficulty on knowing where to find the right "root" to start with the "high" dim chords (d-string in "base"). I always get lost! Do you have a trick? (I did not see the link to the lesson you mentioned on those "D" string dim chords 🧐
Hi, Progression have certain directions and lead to a certain chord. The turnaround is circling across the tonic chord. The Chords between one and five do not have to remain in the scale. Alone, the direction has to stay the same. Instead of Em you could play E7, to make it a secondary dominant to A, and E7 can be substituted by Bbdim. The bassnote in that case is getting closer to the A. Chords are like a choir. As long as the direction makes sense, everything goes.
So very helpful…thank you so much!
Sven, I've been going through all of your videos and I've got to say it: thank you, thank you, thank you. You're an outstanding teacher!
Hi Sven, Many thanks 😊 Masaki
Thanks a lot 🎼
Very Nice video...Love Jazz..!
Excellent lesson, thank you Sven
Thanks for this video Sven. This has to be the best TH-cam video on diminished chords.
You are a fantastic teacher! Thanks so much.
Thanks - very informative! Especially regarding the relationship between dim chords, dom chords and the dim scale as is relates to Gyspy jazz.
Top! Dein Mix aus Können, Erklären und Einordnen des Ganzen ("the normal guys") ist 1a!

The dim chord , & the 1/2 dim chords are really svell !! Is that one of those Maccaferrari guitars ?

No it’s F#7 to G = Gdim to G like in
Jattendrai , Seul Ce Soir, When day is done, it can also be used in the blues for G C7 G = G Gdim G
Greetings 😉
@@SvenJungbeck Got it...cheers.

Do you do online classes?
Why is Bb-dim a substitution for Em in G/Em/Am/D? (at 15:50)

What is the name of the tune mentioned at 4:02?

Duke and Dukie
You don't use F sharp in a Cdim chord. It is a G flat.
It is a diminished chord.
