We are very excited to have Catherine Pearlman presenting as a Keynote speaker for our 26th annual HomeDadCon out in Phoenix at the end of September. She is returning to talk with our dads after first speaking about her book "Ignore It" back in 2018. Her books have been a great resource for the stay-at-home dads in our organization.
Never! I grew up without it, in fact only landlines and pay phones existed and guess what I excelled academically. I developed socially and emotionally. It's still possible
Nah you just need to raise your kids with a social life and responsibilities and guide them when first using it,the argument of I grew up without this or but we didn't have this can backfire in bad ways because you prevent creative and efficient ideas and creations from being made not saying that a phone is one but it can be very useful and kids can learn a lot on them, more then you think you just need to teach them to balance the time they spend there
I didn’t get my first iPhone until I was 15 years old. And I loved it . I think a kid needs to be responsible for iPhone when they’re like 12 and 14 . Having a phone isn’t easy kids need to be careful cause it’s very dangerous and be trouble. I had my phone stolen when I was in high school and I never got it back which made me sad and angry. But they caught the thief but it was sold so I got a Bette phone thanks to my sis who lended me her iPhone . So I think kids need to learn these rules . Be responsible for your phone , keep it safe and be cat
It's okay to not to have mobile phone in Pakistan until you get married, even after marriage it's depends on you if you want mobile phone or not.. but not sure about other countries
As someone who grew up without even a house phone, I say no child should have a cell phone, when they grow and can afford their own phone they can get one .
I've had a cell phone since the age of 7. It depends on the maturity of the child, I asked for it and got it due to my parents trusting me. It benefitted my life immensely, learned so much from the internet and about the internet that really put me ahead of the rest of kids my age. It connected me to technology and gave valuable skill sets that have made me a living at 24 years of age. A child should get a cell phone if he is ready to handle the responsibility and obviously providing guidance.
i think 8th or 9th grade is a good age. i mean depends on the kid but I've noticed if you don't have a phone and social media then you are left out in high school. if my child was responsible and mature I would get them a smart phone in 8th grade just for communication and school (many teachers really rely on kids to have phones for assignments

My parents gave me a computer at the age of 2 and yet I didn't really start using it until I was 5 . I kind of think it is ridiculous 🙄 but funny at the same time. My brother at the age of 12 has to made his own computer by a raspberry pie . My brother got his first phone at 14 . I didn't really have a interest in phone until the 9th grade. My brother - always on the phone time, poor grades , and he usually doesn't go to bed until 1 am and do his school work in last minute. Me: good grades , my screen time a week is 6hrs and 13 minutes. My parents did give us screen time limit back as we were little kids. I ending up doing a Samsung screen trying to set my goal to 3hrs and 30 mins . I think it is better to do at 16 than anyone under 14 . My parents did the right thing at the end.

as much as I would like to agree with you, I believe things and times have changed. With too much uncertainty and unpredictability in the world ,a phone might be a good idea nowadays
No. Don't you realize we have the rights YOU have, and if you take them away we brutally rebel? It's about freedom and equality, otherwise we might as well be pledging allegiance to the swastika in our modern schools!
I would recommend 16-20 because you would know how to be responsible and reasonable at that age (I hope?) unlike 9 year olds who someone got a phone so early

Other than that schools and recreational activities have trustworthy adults present and landline phones
not having a phone is better than a phone with a parental lab or time restrictions

It's mostly for social media and to make contacts
But I mostly use my phone for playing games
