That performance in game 6 of the 1980 finals is unreal. To switch from a point guard to a center as a rookie and drop 40, unbelievable.

Thats what wild about Magic. Wins the NCAA championship in 1979 and then FMVP as a rookie in 1980. He asked his coach to step in for their teams best player and rose to the occasion. That game along with Jordan's 63 against the 86 Celtics, Lebron's 48 where he matched the Pistons by himself to win a conference final game in double OT, and Duncan's unofficial quad double to win his second title as reigning MVP, are the greatest games ever played.

He wasn’t a point guard his rookie season. And he also didn’t really play much centre that game. Not that it wasn’t an incredible performance, because it was, but he played position-less basketball, way WAY before it was commonplace. It made sense for him to take the jump ball that game. (He never guarded the other team’s centre though)

Magic is in my top Five. It's a shame we shine so much light on Jordan, LeBron and Kobe not taking anything from them we all know they are top players. But the quality that Magic mastered before all of them was leadership. Yes he had the great Kareem there with him when he came in the lead but this guy as a rookie point guard won the NBA championship in his first year at the age of 20. And then won 4 more championships. And he didn't play as many years as other stars did. Magic to me is underrated.

I’m not sure you’re reading the room right. Jordan and Kobe are beloved to be sure, and rightly so. What they did on the court was simply majestic to watch. Yes, it was individual greatness, but I don’t say that as a criticism. That were the greatest in history at their game.
Then we have Magic and Bird. They are arguably the greatest floor generals to ever play the game. They have never been, in any way that I can recall, overlooked or underrated. Bird-Magic are legendary. I can’t think of any conversation about all-time NBA greats that hasn’t included both. They are almost universally regarded as two of the 10 best players in history.

If you never saw Magic play in person you have no idea how 'good' he was. On TV you only saw what the camera showed you, so usually only when he had the ball. If you saw him live you could watch him do everything and he was amazing. He single handedly controlled games by doing what ever needed to be done. Need a steal, he stole the ball. Need a rebound, he got it. Speed the game up. slow the game down, he did it. Score, pass, play D, whatever it took he did it and if you weren't paying attention you might not even have realized the impact he was having on every aspect of the game. Great player!

Unfortunately I was born in 98 so I never was able to see it live, I’m sure it was special. Having lived 20 minutes from downtown Milwaukee most of my life I can say watching Giannis in person feels that way to me. Yes everything he does on camera is incredible, but the way he impacts and dictates the game in so many levels from what you can only see in person is really amazing to watch.

Magic's style of play along with his 6.9 athletic frame, ball handling and passing skills ad to that his extremely high basketball IQ and leadership. All of which cemented his as one of the most Impressively DomInate players in basketball history on Every level. People tend to forget Magic won Championships in HS, College and 5 NBA titles and 2 straight Olympic gold medals on the Greatest Team ever assembled. If not for retirement for obvious reasons I'm sure no one can argue against him possibly winning at least 2-3 more championships. He and Larry Legend Exemplifies what a True Superstar of the sport is. They played the game the right way winning playing Team ball not caring about personal stats. They each made others on there team even better and smarter players. Magic & Bird names go hand in hand as 2 sides of the same coin.
