In terms of Greatness (accomplishments): 1. Kareem- 6 MVPs, 6 Championships, and had the greatest offensive weapon- The Skyhook 2. Wilt- Most athletic physical specimen and most-dominant individually 3. Bill Russell- Arguably the greatest team player of all-time and the winningest with 11 Championships 4. Hakeem- Most-skilled overall of all centers; best two-way center of all time 5. Shaq- most physically-imposing center (Wilt may have been more imposing, but many claim Wilt's game was more finesse}, the epitome of brute force
Wilt was at least as physically imposing in his time, probably more so, but he was not the physical specimen Shaq was 30+ years later. Wilt played in a different era. Hard to say with more modern training available that he wouldn't have been even bigger and stronger than he was. He's probably the only one on your list that was also more athletic than Orlando Shaq. I totally agree with your list.
Shaq only became physically imposing after he got fat. He wasn't that big when he first came into the league. Hakeem schooled him in the finals in 1995.
I saw Shaq at a game in Boston in 2002 and even though he was injured and in street clothes, he towered over everybody else in the arena. You had to have seen him in the flesh to truly appreciate how gargantuan a human he really was.
Shaq is a legend on and off the court. If he worked as hard as Kobe, I believe he would would have a strong case to be #1 all time. He was unstoppable in his prime.
For those who don’t know. The magic actually took Chris Webber 1st overall and the warriors took penny. They then got traded for each other. Imagine a Shaq and C Web duo.
Shaq and Penny was a better duo, since it was inside and outside. Plus, the Magic got Horace Grant, so they still had a great C-PF duo. That Magic team could've been a a dynasty if Shaq didn't leave, and Penny didn't get hurt.
Shaq, the most dominate center, after Wilt Chamberlain, in NBA history... Almost Richer than Lebron who keys to not spend his money, now that is insane.
Shaq is the most dominant player ever I like wilt but he played in a time where someone his size could dominate with absolutely no difficulty, if Kareem or Shaq played then they would score just the same if not more with there playstyle
I'd say he's more dominant than Wilt. This isn't Wilt's fault but he played in a league with only like 8-10 teams, and during his historical scoring seasons, he would average close to 40 shots a game. If you gave Shaq those number of shots, he would've also had historical scoring seasons as well.

Shaq was the basketball equivalent of Eric Dickerson, so much natural talent that he didn't feel he had to try very hard. Imagine what either of them could have been with a work ethic.

Shaq's athleticism on the basketball court was impressive, but Wilt was easily the most physically dominant center of all time when compared against his contemporaries.

@@kellz1703 His laziness and lack of motivation was what caused the riff between him and Kobe...had they remained together, it would have been a Dynasty.
Thank you for explaining to people that Shaq had handles and speed in his younger day in Orlando. He was a freak of nature and oddly enough he probably never polished his game as much as other players, yet he was still as good as he was.
One of the main problems of Shaq was that there wasnt anyone with similar atributes that put him in check and make him work to be the best. For example, neither Ronaldo or Messi would be as great as they are if they played in different eras. It was the fact that both of them played in the same era that made both push each other to GOAT status
as a Sixers fan back in those days, god I hated the Lakers. Shaq was unstoppable, there was no one, no one who could do anything about it he completely dominated every game he was a monster.
I was like 11-14 during The 2000 3 Pete Lakers & it is the greatest basketball team I've ever seen and it was just Shaq and Kobe. The amount of domination Shaq possessed was insane.
As good as Shaq got, we never really seen the best Shaq because he let himself get out of shape while he was in his prime in LA. If you watch the magic Shaq, while his skills were unrefined, he had the speed to do things later versions could only dream of. I also think if he weighed 30lbs less, he'd also be carrying much less injuries later in his career.
Shaq probably lands somewhere between 8 and 12 in the all-time rankings. But when he was in shape and dialed in during his prime, he was a top-5 all-time player. Only a few guys in NBA history could dominate a game regardless of matchup or scheme the way he could.
That's why I like Shaq because he did it his way. My last name is similar to his first name. And while in the military, when I was 19. Just one error in this video. Nope, Kobe did not become the Lakers' best player when Shaq was there. The Lakers' fortunes always rested mostly on Shaq.
Know why they can talk about these guys so much? They had HD footage. Imagine if they had HD footage of Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Moses Malone, or other former greats before we had this HD footage.
No one seems to know that Wilt Chamberlain was a freak of nature on another level. That man was doing track at 7'1. Shaquille wasn't doing Track at any point of his career. The myth is that Wilt could make it basket to basket in 7 strides because of his length, and his weight. He never weighed more than 260, combine his strength in a body that was literally designed for track running, and you've got a recipe for a Basketball Player who could be as, if not more dominant than Shaq in TODAYS game.

I've never liked Shaq or the Lakers, rooted for the 76ers in that finals but I simply have to admit that Shaq was the most dominant center I've seen playing ball. I was hoping that Divac or Mutombo could stop him but even these great centers could not hold him back.
Hands down, he was phenomenal.
and Dennis Rodman laughs
@@Onthe6lock Rodman indeed was a beast and stopped Shaq. But that Shaq was still very young. Watching prime Shaq against prime Rodman would be an awesome treat.
@@istvanbus5021 orlando shaq was more faster than his Prime but lakers shaq was his prime
Did you say divac? U lost ur mind.
@@istvanbus5021 I hate the stupid narrative that Rodman could guard Shaq. Shaq had one bad game against Rodman in his rookie year where he only put up 7 points on 18% FG. Overall he averaged 27 and 13 on 54% shooting against Rodman, including a game (also in his rookie year) where he had 46 points, 21 rebounds, and 5 blocks on 76% from the field. Rodman had one lucky game where he hacked hell out of a rookie Shaq, got away with it, and Shaq mental boomed to have the worst game of his career.
No one could stop Shaq.
In terms of Greatness (accomplishments):
1. Kareem- 6 MVPs, 6 Championships, and had the greatest offensive weapon- The Skyhook
2. Wilt- Most athletic physical specimen and most-dominant individually
3. Bill Russell- Arguably the greatest team player of all-time and the winningest with 11 Championships
4. Hakeem- Most-skilled overall of all centers; best two-way center of all time

Shaq was out of shape yet still carried kobe who was outplayed by j rose, miller, Iverson, rip hamilton and j kidd

If he had Kobe's work ethic then he would be the goat, no conversation. Kobe event said it during an interview.

Shaq's worth less than half of Lebron
Jesus if prime Shaq was in the 1960’s he’d be like a bus getting to the basket mowing everyone down on his way.
I'd say he's more dominant than Wilt. This isn't Wilt's fault but he played in a league with only like 8-10 teams, and during his historical scoring seasons, he would average close to 40 shots a game. If you gave Shaq those number of shots, he would've also had historical scoring seasons as well.
@@mithunanilangainathan8103 less teams mean more competitive if there were 10 teams and talent was distributed equally every team would have at least 2 and some 3 all stars with a 30 team league like today at if the league was distributed equally 1 each. All I could say is that Shaq definitely has a G-14 classification.

Is crazy to think that Shaq is a top 10 of all time and was training the least amount he could
Had he had Mamba mentality he would have dominated the game for 15 years
At least 8 rings and 4-5 MVP’s
I’m only 25, but watching Shaq even at the end of his career was insane. I’ve never seen an athlete make other athletes look like little kids like he did. Dude was an absolute unit. If he improved his mid range/free throws, I think he’d be in the top 5 all time convo no question
He is in the top 5 convo tho, he could go as high as 3 if you value peak significantly more than longevity.
Not even bro… You had Wilt, LeBron, MJ, and Curry and this year Jokic played better than Shaq ever did… If you mean peak as in 1-3 years all those players did better, now in the playoffs it’d be a different story… Shaq is probably the best center and one of the best players in the playoffs ever… 2016 Cavs LeBron and basically any middle to late 90s Jordan were the only contenders.
Curry is better than Shaq longevity and peak too

Shaq is a legend and a hall of famer. He had one of the best highlights in his career. He played 19 seasons with the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics. He was the most dominant players in NBA history when he played with the likes of LeBron, Kobe, Penny Hardaway, Dwyane Wade, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. Salute to #32 Shaquille O’Neal!!!
What this video forget to mention is that Shaq has the best rookie start and season of all time, that his entire career had been surrounded by the most powerful centers ever to play the game from the start to the end and is the overall most adapt center in league history.
Mannnn Shaq inspired all us big guys he made me believe that I can hoop to not just play football
Born and raised in Orlando and ShaQ and company made the games sooo much fun! So many great memories as a kid!
Shaq is one of my favorite players because I feel a personal connection to his personality.
Shaq was the basketball equivalent of Eric Dickerson, so much natural talent that he didn't feel he had to try very hard. Imagine what either of them could have been with a work ethic.

I actually think he doesn't get as much credit as he deserves as an all time legend. Can you imagine if he played in today's game? Forget about it!
50 PPG / 25 RPG easy lol
Shaq always tells the story of trying to play like magic or dr.j. His father asked him,”what the hell are you doing?!!!” From then on he became SHAQ!
I saw the Lakers play the Supersonics, late 90's 1st round of the Playoffs at Key Arena. We sat about 15 rows back from the Laker's Bench and it felt like we could reach out and touch them. When Shaq stood up and was surrounded by other players, it was like a Full-Grown man surrounded by super Tall and Skinny Jr. High School Boys and didn't even look like it was a fair "fight". And I almost felt sorry for the Sonics.....almost. Shaq's a Top 10 All-Time NBA Player in my humble opinion.

I remember being a kid and watching shaq on the Lakers in his prime. If he got the ball in the post he was unstoppable and it would seem like he would always either score or get fouled. He's arguably top 10 all time, and by all accounts was rather lazy with his health and workouts. I wonder how good he could've been with a Jordan or Kobe like hard working mentality. Great video, took me way back. I thought it was going to be more of an analytics-based comparison video, but I loved it anyways.
One of the main problems of Shaq was that there wasnt anyone with similar atributes that put him in check and make him work to be the best.
For example, neither Ronaldo or Messi would be as great as they are if they played in different eras. It was the fact that both of them played in the same era that made both push each other to GOAT status

Can we just say that nick andersen was the choke artist of that year for the magic in that finals, 0/4 in 4 attempts
I was like 11-14 during The 2000 3 Pete Lakers & it is the greatest basketball team I've ever seen and it was just Shaq and Kobe. The amount of domination Shaq possessed was insane.
KCAL 9
As good as Shaq got, we never really seen the best Shaq because he let himself get out of shape while he was in his prime in LA. If you watch the magic Shaq, while his skills were unrefined, he had the speed to do things later versions could only dream of. I also think if he weighed 30lbs less, he'd also be carrying much less injuries later in his career.
Shaq existing , just makes me happy. You Rock Big dog!
The magic should’ve lasted a bit longer in orlando, but with a weak coach and awful bench, it was doomed to splinter eventually.
I was big old boy and I couldn't run the two mile to get my PT score up. So my drill Sargeants would call me Shaq Diesel everyday. Trying to motivate me to get by PT run score up . Cuz I ran like a Mack truck. Towards the end of my basic training I was able to pass my 2 mi and complete my basic training. So Shaq- Fu always has a place in my heart. And like him I have a Superman tattoo on my right shoulder. 💯🦸♂️
Shaq is on the Mount Rushmore of centers Wilt Kareem Bill 6 Finals 4 Championships 3 Finals MVP 2000 NBA MVP between 1999-02 may have been the best greatest years any center ever had he was like a man among boys

Shaq didn't just play for The Magic, he was The Magic he made Magic happen on the court.
Shaq did say Wilt was the most dominant player ever, Wilt was quicker and stronger but did not weigh as much because he was leaner (in shape) but this also meant he could play a lot longer and not get tired.
Shaq is a tank and would man-handle Wilt and anyone else simply because of physics and weight. He only said that to be humble lol.

Young Shaq is the most dominant player I've ever seen
No one seems to know that Wilt Chamberlain was a freak of nature on another level. That man was doing track at 7'1. Shaquille wasn't doing Track at any point of his career. The myth is that Wilt could make it basket to basket in 7 strides because of his length, and his weight. He never weighed more than 260, combine his strength in a body that was literally designed for track running, and you've got a recipe for a Basketball Player who could be as, if not more dominant than Shaq in TODAYS game.
