Ok, so this installment checked all my boxes. Stunning scenery beautiful roads and the mighty GS. You asked of my favorite day rides. First I always ride alone, so as to pick and choose…whatever fancied me at that moment. In my neck of the woods, 2 hours to get up to The Great Smokey Mountains, so about 8 hours saddle time, 9-10 clock time. Always so well worth the day. And we got to witness the GS pass anything in your way. (especially that white van) So yup I’ve really enjoyed this series. Cheers Andy, very much enjoyed this one. 👍🏼 😎 🇺🇸 🌎
@@TheMissendenFlyer …. Mableton Georgia, just outside of Atlanta Ga. about 2 hours south of the Smokey Mountains, about 2 hours east of Taladega National Forest. Obviously the Harley rides in the mountains, and the Tiger rides the backwoods of that forest. It truly is a beautiful difference of these amazing bikes and their unique skill-sets. I am very lucky. 👍🏼
@@TheMissendenFlyer Andy, we just had our coldest day this winter, a freezing 6 degrees with a high of 11. I used to live in Kent and I sort of miss the English summer and the distinct seasons.
Hi Andy, Really enjoyed the Wales episodes. Our Pastor is from Wales, great to see all the beautiful sites. Yesterday my neighbor and I rode 470 miles on a day ride to the Mississippi River, up to the Wisconsin River and back along that river. Too many miles. I'm 73 and ride 2018 GSXS 1000. I think 300 miles per day is about right for me now. Thank you for all your contributions to riding. Ray
Looking at that scenery takes me back fifty years to when I would head off on my Ariel Leader ,not to Wales but all around. Warwickshire . I emigrated to Aus in 1971 and once settled in got myself another bike . Now at 75 I've down graded to my Honda CB500 XA (2021) . Once the world has got Covid under control I'll be back to the UK and ride those tours you take me on . Take care ,ride safe . Mal in Australia
Loved your whistle stop tour, I owned a static caravan at Newgale coast holiday park for over 25 years, and as you will no doubt be told by others you missed so much of Pembrokeshire, St Davids Cathedral is stunning, and did you realise when you left Cardigan for fishgaurd you crossed the Preshilli hills the site of where henges had been quarried for Stonehenge ,and yes when the tide is in Solva harbour must be the most beautiful natural harbour in Britain, and when you dropped down into Newgale if you had taken the small coastal road you would have taken in Nolton, Broad Haven, little Haven, and many more little hamlets all the way to Milford Haven. When you have more time as you said you must do it with Mrs Flyer. Thank you...
Great content! Beautiful country. I find it interesting that different riders find different distances enjoyable. I did a multi-day ride several weeks ago and had two 500+ mile days. I found it very enjoyable and did manage to stop for a few pictures. With that said, while some of the roads were narrow and winding, like yours, I was blessed with some highways/motorways and could put down some miles. That is the beauty of riding, we get to individually do what we find enjoyable. Keep up the awesome content.
This series was great! Although we only see bits, presumably the most pleasurable ones, it does look like a great place for a relaxed ride. Thanks Andy for sharing it with us.
Pre Covid done 600 miles from Santander down to the South of Spain but can't say enjoy doing big miles, 250 on twisty 's more than enough, enjoying your Wales trip, Cheers Andy.
That must be a long ferry ride from Fishguard to Wick(Scotland) and I always thought they went to Rosslare in the ROI. You visited Cenarth Falls and a beautiful place it is. About 20 years ago I visited Cenarth and they had a visitor in the River, who they Christened Sammy the Seal. He or she swam all the way up the river(about 10+ miles) following Salmon and stayed for a few days.
Hi Andy - I really enjoyed your tour. This is a great part of the UK, although you do need to depart the “main” roads to enjoy the delights of the coast. As you say Solva is lovely and the coastal walk from there to St David’s is worth the effort. Dale, Marlowe (with its wonderful beach (Lion in the Winter opening scene), Whitesands and, of course, St David’s cathedral
Be a good tour through the Scottish Borders Andy, we’ve just done from home in Saltburn more or less a diagonal line to Glasgow via Kielder into Scotland, Hawick, Selkirk onto Glasgow. Day off there then up to Fort William via Loch Lomond and Glencoe. Beautiful weather, stunning views. Back to Glasgow and then home via the south side of Edinburgh down the A7 to Galashiels, stop for a coffee and a sandwich at the border then A68 south to Darlington and home. 650 miles biking bliss over 4 days. Must do Wales though , great series again.
My only experience of Wales has been the principality stadium in Cardiff for the Speedway Gp. Looks like I’ve been missing out, beautiful countryside I think a longer trip is required. Great series TMF, top stuff.
09:30 Fishguard used to be the ferry port for Southern Ireland until the early 70s when it moved to Swansea. I remember watching my parents car being hoisted up on a crane, no roll on/roll over back then.
Your right about not doing too many miles in one day. I've done a couple of tours on sports bikes and both times rode to many miles each day to get to the places I booked to stay. End up missing everything and spending too much time on main roads and motorways. Btw love the photos at the end and have now bought my own copy of Bikers Britain the tours after watching these excellent videos 🙂
Nice tour you were bloody lucky with the weather last time I had a holiday in tenby it rained the whole week we spent alot of time in that ice cream parlour you showed at the end of your vid and we all came home considerably heavier 🍦🍦🍦🍦

Loved this latest tour of Wales, Andy. Welsh Tourist Board should be sponsoring you I think ; ) Im spoiled living in the Cairngorms but we have so many beautiful locations in the UK. You've even got me interested in a GS to go touring on...test ride booked for this Saturday.
most of my tours are 3 to 4 weeks into Europe, South of France, Spain. I've learned from experience that for me if I do too many hours in the saddle every day it all becomes a slog. like you said, it's supposed to be fun after all! rather than judge it by miles, I generally limit myself to approximately 3 hours actual riding per day, not including stops, lunch etc. I like to be at the hotel by 5 so I can enjoy the evening in whatever town I'm in. I also try not to do more than 4 days consecutively without a day off the bike. on trips of that length, that's what works for me and by the end I'm as fresh or fresher than when I left.
I ride in Wales a lot but this is an area I really should visit more. We recently bought a Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro as a COVID cheer up on your recommendation and we love it . Yes great mini series that Andy, shame about the camera mount I mentioned after episode 1. That position makes the screen extension support sit right on your vanishing point which is most disconcerting. The Norway setup was far better!! If you take Carole on Goldie to SW Wales make sure you include Milford Haven and have a stop at the Harbourmaster's Bar. Great place for lunch!!
Morning, glad you like it in South Wales. A lot of our place names can be hard to pronounce. With Eglwyswrw try the phonetic approach of egg-lis-oo-roo.
Glad you found the Cardigan to Fishguard Rt .Every time you crossed a cattle grate though I was waiting for you to come up on 100 sheep across the road .... . By the way below St Davids at Newgale take the road (track) to Milford Haven for the best of the best of seaside West Wales .. You will need hours though :) .. Carew has an amazing castle ..
When you plan Northumberland trip, see if you can catch the migrating bird season at Farne Islands (puffins, arctic terns, gannets) worth a day off the bike on a boat. Enjoyed the Wales videos, thanks.
You passed my house when you rode down the B4329 just before you went up over ther preseli Hills on your way to haverfordwest .My place was just as you came to Brynberian .Shame i missed you . Maybe next time .Love your Vlogs by the way .
I think a UK tour with Mrs Flyer once she's passed her test - light jaunt out away from the south east on a steady run may do wonders for her confidence. Bear in mind the average human can't stay anxious for more than 45 minutes, post that maximum enjoyment. Best pick your favourites vices at the end of it! No ideas to suggest where you should go, albeit great video and enjoyable watch... as well as hotel rant.
I didn’t like the car park in Newquay. We used the bike space and it was on a hill. Was hard work parking the bikes up. Great to see you were blessed with stunning weather 🙂
What a coincidence Andy. My wife and daughter just had a week in Solva. Loved it and the area. We’re planning to go down on the bikes in October. Not ideal for weather but no choice cos of work. I want to visit Castlemartin which is the army tank ranges we used to go down from Windsor to fire the guns!!! (Each to their own)😂
Make sure you go over the A4069, north of Swansea, start of the Brecon Mountains, its the road Top gear has been using since the start and many other car related shows
You should try a wingman of the road tent with a helinox bed, the hotel was extortionate, I would done three days or more as you have missed a lot out. There are loads of little villages worth getting off the bike for a walk around and a cup of tea. I might put a route up on to TomTom with what I would do. I can't believe you didn't stop in Solva.
Try Abergeveny to Builth wells and over to Llandovery and back round to Aber, stunning 101 miles of fantastic roads. West end café in Llandovery is a great biker cafe.
@@TheMissendenFlyer I am from Blaenau Ffestiniog originally, some great roads up there. Lots also of the beaten track that tourists don't know about and police don't go on. Am running from Lincs to Windsor n a few weeks via North and mid wales on my R1250 GS.
Another cool tour, I do love these tour videos, when you talk about how many miles, I don't really look at planning that way, I always look at how much time on the bike it will be. I know route planning apps think you will stick at the speed limit wherever you are but I tend to plan a route to be about 4 1/2 hours long. That gives a decent day when I put in photo and cake stops...
Great video, Andy, thanks. About 8/years ago, I I did a golfing trip from Cardif to St David’s to north Wales and just loved it. I was driving so not the same experience on a bike. Great scenery and people, though. Next year i hope to do them NC 5007 on a bike. Cheers.
Beautiful ride. Thanks for sharing. You ask about a daily ride, my daily ride in Montana was routinely 300 miles. Here in Georgia heat it's down to 240 or less.
Lovely tour , thanks for bringing the good weather . Too late now but I would have travelled home via the a40 ...pretty much all the way home for you , nice roads , much better than the m4 . Look forward to more tours.
I'm just back from a few days in the Brecon beacons and I found the place stunning, brilliant riding country. I plotted a coastal route for one day out and it looks almost the same route you took here. Difference was I carried on along the coast after Newgale to Broadhaven instead of heading for Haverfordwest. Loved the route which ended in Dale. I then returned via Haverfordwest and hit the same junction for the A40 with the option of Fishguard or St Clear, unfortunately, choosing not to use the sat nav, I chose Fishguard, got most of the way to Fishguard before checking my map only to discover I was going the wrong way! Ah well, it was a lovely stretch of road which I had to ride back along. Looking forward to the next installment 👍
Really enjoy these vids Andy. I’ve often found that if you’re observing the speed limits and not using motorways then it’s hard to average much more than 30mph on a reasonable journey. So for 150 miles I’d allow 4 to 5 hours and I’m happy with that for pleasure riding.
Beautiful part of the country. You showed it off very well TMF. You should definitely take Mrs TMF there. You missed out on some beautiful beaches and places to eat like Mwnt, Porthgain. Abereiddy, Lawrenny tea rooms, Angle, Dale etc It did make me smile when you missed the Cathedral. Great vids though 👍
Great to see you on tour again. Millport on the Isle of Cumbrae would have been the smallest city having the cathedral of the Isles but seemingly missed the deadline for applications in 2011 and has never applied since.
I watched Episode 2 last week and it got me thinking..... On Friday Monday I got a pass from my wife and boss to take Monday off. I did three days riding with nothing booked, no McDonalds and no motorways from home in Essex. I used two of Simon's books to work out rough routes and thought I'd see how far I get each day. I prefer a faster and longer day than you and my 1290GT is suited to it perfectly. So in answer to your question about lengths of rides : Day 1 (9:00am to 7pm) : Essex, Chipping Norton, up and down some South Wales valleys. Day 2 (07:30am to 6:30pm) : Brecon, Bala, Caernarvon, Snowdonia then over to Macclesfield. Day 3 (09:00am to 16:00pm) : Cat & Fiddle, Snake Pass, Matlock, Melton Mowbray (to get 1Kg of the finest pork pie) and wiggled back to Essex. The total was 920 miles many of which where single track linking parts together. Thanks for the nudge :)
Your relationship with Welsh names is even more entertaining than with white vans! Not that I could do any better but it occurs to me that, being part of Old Blighty, it might be that the pronunciation has nothing to do with the spelling. I love these travel videos of yours. The scenery today, especially with the sky and clouds, was breathtaking.
Thanks for the feeback - I've never used music in the past and thought I'd see how it goes - can't promise I won't use in future but I will keep it to a minimum....
@@TheMissendenFlyer I actually avoided part 3 because I didn't want to rush over to my computer to hit mute when that horrible music plays. The above comment was helpful. We understand content creators must "free" music... but most of that music is awful.
As you reached the top at 4:41 to your left is where the Bluestones used to build Stonehenge were hewn. Not a lot of people know that 😉 Also, for a beginner such as yourself, for Eglwyswrw you could try igloo soo roo and improve on that for next time when you drop in for chocolate hobnobs 😆🏴
You chose some beautiful days to go riding and there were some great clips in this series of videos. Thank you for sharing. Also if this great weather is the result of global warming I’m going to get myself a Kawasaki H2 Mach IV. I also appreciate you starting the source of these wonderful routes. Another book to add to my Christmas list. ps. I’m not so sure the clouds you saw when you were riding were lenticulars. There were far too many “knobbly” bits. There was also very little wind at both upper and lower levels no apparent low level vertical movement as evidenced by a lack of Cumuloform clouds. It looked more like a combination of Cirrocumulus and Cirrostratus to me. My best ever height gain in a glider was 25,000’ in wave.
Great tour as usual. Please always include your famous fashion segment. Knox gloves were they? I have three pairs for various seasons and always default to Knox for their palm sliders. Noticed you’ve been experimenting with several “wearbags” lately…I remember your first review where you assessed they were a bit of a faff but now?!?! I use a Hit Air wearbag. The Japanese invented these things and they still make well thought out systems.. They tend to pay attention to some of the finer issues: head stability in a crash, tailbone protection, etc.
Yeah, I'm going to be "that" guy - "Historically, cities were settlements with a cathedral, and those places remain cities. Thus, many settlements that are now comparatively small, such as Ely, Wells, or Salisbury, have long had city status. A cathedral is not a requirement for city status to be conferred, though Birmingham was the first town without a cathedral to become a city, in 1889."

We would love to see you doing some videos on Northumbria , Peak and Lake Districts, or anywhere really. Cheers Mike and Sue .
I'll see what I can do Mike!
Thanks for the tips!
Morning, glad you like it in South Wales. A lot of our place names can be hard to pronounce. With Eglwyswrw try the phonetic approach of egg-lis-oo-roo.
Thanks for that Mike....
Next time Guy! Thanks for the tip!
Wick?? 🤣
The Fishguard ferry takes you to Sunny Roslaire in the County of Wexford.
Great biking roads 👍
Nice.....
When you plan Northumberland trip, see if you can catch the migrating bird season at Farne Islands (puffins, arctic terns, gannets) worth a day off the bike on a boat.
Enjoyed the Wales videos, thanks.
Thanks for the tip!
You’re the proverbial font of knowledge Andy. Loved the cloud facts! Actually woke me up. I was dozing off it was so relaxing 😎
Cool!
You passed my house when you rode down the B4329 just before you went up over
ther preseli Hills on your way to haverfordwest .My place
was just as you came to Brynberian .Shame i missed you .
Maybe next time .Love your Vlogs by the way .
Brilliant! ….and glad to hear that!
Lovely vid. What a fantastic ride. Very nice TMF. Very nice indeed.
Thanks for watching!
One step at a time! ...but good plan..
I didn’t like the car park in Newquay. We used the bike space and it was on a hill. Was hard work parking the bikes up. Great to see you were blessed with stunning weather 🙂
I was indeed - at least for one day!
You missed the Cathedral at St.. Davids, its absolutely stunning and the coastline around there is the best in GB in my view
Yes I need to revisit obvs......
Brilliant series Andy! I’ve taken your advice and ordered Bikers Britain 👍🏼
Nice one Matthew - thanks....
(Each to their own)😂
Nice one - fingers crossed for the weather!
Great little series again sir. I also think between 150 - 200 a day is more than ample. I like to get up and away early too.
Totally agree
Make sure you go over the A4069, north of Swansea, start of the Brecon Mountains, its the road Top gear has been using since the start and many other car related shows
Yes I’ve done that route a few times - love riding the Brecon Beacons….
Sorry about that…
Nice blue sky’s. Good stuff, I normally only do about 150 miles a day on the twisty roads. Naked bike and 61 year old bones!
Sounds good to me....
Hay TMF. You need to try south west Devon and dartmoor. You will love it. Brilliant videos. Keep up the good work.
My mother in law lives in Ashburton, South Devon is somewhere I know very we’ll….
Happy Days Andy. Well if your ever down this way on the bike ,look me up and I will take you on some stunning rides.
Great to see you in Wales again, the Cathedral at St.Davids is a must visit. Shame you didn't have the time. Nice work TMF 🙂
Yes - must go back it seems!
A must go place, My wife and were lucky enough to have our wedding blessed there a few years ago ..
As usual, a top video and makes me want to tour a bit. I’m ok with the music, I don’t see any harm in it.
Cheers Andy...
Try Abergeveny to Builth wells and over to Llandovery and back round to Aber, stunning 101 miles of fantastic roads. West end café in Llandovery is a great biker cafe.
Love a bit of Wales!
@@TheMissendenFlyer I am from Blaenau Ffestiniog originally, some great roads up there. Lots also of the beaten track that tourists don't know about and police don't go on. Am running from Lincs to Windsor n a few weeks via North and mid wales on my R1250 GS.
Great tour 🏍😃, thanks for taking us along 😉👍.
My pleasure - thanks for watching....
Sounds good to me Michael!
Where in Georgia? I did a fair amount of flying out of Cobb County McCullom field a few years back (based in Kennesaw)….
What an absolutely great looking tour. Beautiful roads and scenery. Seems like the GS is well-suited for it. Cheers from Canada
The GS is well suited to touring anywhere! Thanks for watching!
Really enjoy these vids Andy. I’ve often found that if you’re observing the speed limits and not using motorways then it’s hard to average much more than 30mph on a reasonable journey. So for 150 miles I’d allow 4 to 5 hours and I’m happy with that for pleasure riding.
Agreed….
A cracking ride, well worth a look Araf Araf
Really nice ride! Thanks for sharing 👍.
My pleasure!
Great set of vids Andy! Thoroughly enjoyed it! 🏍💨💨💨
Thank you Bob....
Northumberland and the Borders my backyard, I live near Corbridge off the A68, highly recommended and me and my buddies know lots of good routes😀
Cool - defo on the list....
Beautiful scenery 😄
It really is!
Thanks for the tips!
Loved this. Goodness did you have a great weather day. Wow.
It was - quite rare in Wales!
So in answer to your question about lengths of rides :
Day 1 (9:00am to 7pm) : Essex, Chipping Norton, up and down some South Wales valleys.
Top route by the sounds of it...
Thank you Daniel - glad you liked it and thanks for stopping by once again!
Great trip. Loved the cloud information. 😂 Wish I was looking down at them from 38,000 feet on route to a holiday destination!
You and me both!
Beautiful scenery 👍🏽 your GS sounds good and running good, be safe TMF 🙏🏽
Yes she's a joy to tour on....
My favourite episode in this mini tour, partly due to the lack of “music”, thanks 🇬🇧🏍
Couldnt agree more hate it when theres music the bike is the music
Thanks for the feeback - I've never used music in the past and thought I'd see how it goes - can't promise I won't use in future but I will keep it to a minimum....
Hi tmf great video as always. Love wales perfect for biking.
@@TheMissendenFlyer I actually avoided part 3 because I didn't want to rush over to my computer to hit mute when that horrible music plays. The above comment was helpful. We understand content creators must "free" music... but most of that music is awful.
@@TheMissendenFlyer Very nice, thanks. I didn't think the music was overdone, quite nice actually, though I could do without the chipmunk vocals.
Great video. When the weather is like that, the UK is very hard to beat. Just a shame it isn't most of the time!
Too right!
Interesting to see your trip through my home town (Fishguard), glad you had good weather and saw some of Pembrokeshire.
As you reached the top at 4:41 to your left is where the Bluestones used to build Stonehenge were hewn. Not a lot of people know that 😉 Also, for a beginner such as yourself, for Eglwyswrw you could try igloo soo roo and improve on that for next time when you drop in for chocolate hobnobs 😆🏴
...now you're talking!
I'll bow to your pro level knowledge on that one - we rarely get them here of course....
I would bring total agreement with you in your summary of that run
Great tour as usual. Please always include your famous fashion segment. Knox gloves were they? I have three pairs for various seasons and always default to Knox for their palm sliders. Noticed you’ve been experimenting with several “wearbags” lately…I remember your first review where you assessed they were a bit of a faff but now?!?! I use a Hit Air wearbag. The Japanese invented these things and they still make well thought out systems.. They tend to pay attention to some of the finer issues: head stability in a crash, tailbone protection, etc.
Yes I try and put up with the faff and wear an airbag whenever I can....fashion segments will be back I promise!
Milton Keynes is apparantly a City too.....
Wow - what a nice ride.
What a fantastic trip, and what a great narrator, presenter, your enthusiasm shines through and the sun was out, happy days, are you going to do a vlog on e10 fuel? Keep up the good work 👏 👍
Thank you Christian, that's very kind of you....and I fear I don't know enough about it to make a VLOG on E10....
Excellent views and beaches...
