When I get my GS (I'm waiting a year or so to let the new bike bugs work themselves out), I won't be taking it offroad unless the zombies attack. But if that's your thing, run wild!
Between the 1300 GS and GSA at £25 to £30K, I would never go seriously off road. I’d buy something cheap and throw it around. I admire those that do, hope they enjoy the experience and hope they have very deep pockets.
Great video Steve, nice to meet you again, was a super day, fair play to you taking the big bike,Webby the lad who came off his GSA ended up with a partial dislocation of shoulder and 2 cracked ribs…. See you on the next one, thanks Simmo
Okay well that answers that question. Good luck and hope he recovers, and that he continue riding. I would suggest some training, I know in my case I can always learn more and will never give myself out as an expert, but training helped me to learn how to pick a bike up and step away from the bike where possible. I am not criticising anyone for their riding ability, I am just saying it helped me. And even after several courses I stil fell the other day and smacked my engine against a railway sleeper.
I'm booked on the BMW 2 day off road course in June. Can't wait. But before that I have a 1 day mick extance enduro day booked in May. Not been properly off road yet on my 1250 gsa but so looking forward to it. Looked awsome your day with Pete english. Well done for staying upright. 😅
Awesome video Steve, it's great to see someone demonstrating how this bike works on trails for non-professional trail riders, which is so much advertised by all big manufacturers, well done you!! 👍👍
You go on autopista peaje here you’ll pay the same as a car !! I passed up to Extremadura passed through a peaje a car on my other side and we both payed 14€ rediculous! . As regards parking you can get 4 bikes in a parking space 👍
Looks to be a proper offroad break-in, Steve... well done, and thanks for bringing us along. (Now if you can just find a mic for the camera... 😆 I know you will.) The countryside looks wonderful, and you handled the mud quite well. Unless you edited out your inadvertent getoff's. Yeah, you will truly enjoy your BMW Rider class, they have top notch training, and you can never know too much or be too good a rider, whether on the trails or on the tarmac. Build your strength, as there will be some picking up of the bikes! Have fun!
All on roads from what it looks, although some unimproved. Maybe there was areas not filmed. The bike is way more capable than this, but you probably know that. Don’t mean to insult anyone, just want your viewers to know the bike eat those roads for breakfast
The only time I plan to take mine off road is to the cabin at the end of my garden ..but well done for the video and surprisingly dry considering the rain we’ve had
Love the very open & honest advice you provide to your audience, and fair play to you & Tom for taking the 1300 & Nordon up to North Yorkshire with the English Adventure crew 😎 #adoptedyorkshiremen
Awesome mate, i would love to see your sat nav / phone cradle / navigator / apple carplay setups available if you have them? Apple carplay like the chigee but attaches like a nav 6 would be great!
I wouldn't take a GS1300 out off road because of the fear of dropping it. Too expensive and too heavy. Country dirt roads is about the limit. That last section in the video looked like great fun.
It is a smaller bike… noticeably a smaller bike. I like riding off road, but on an even smaller bike. I bought the 1250 for its size and height. The 1300 is lower and doesn’t currently come in the8 gallon tank.
They haven’t arrived yet but no not for me. Excellent product but the Carpe iter gives me more functionality plus the tablet/pad can be removed easily when bike is left out of site. abikething.com/shop/filter-tax=brands:288
I got R1300GS Trophy version with the sport suspension. It feels as good as my Touratech Evo suspension on my 2022 R1250GSA. There is a 4 mile dirt road that I ride all the time. I am faster on the 1300. It has a lot better feel in the front than the 1250. The front and rear of the bike seem to be more in sink. Plus it is easier to throw around than the GS Adventure. I do miss the fuel range of the GSA.
Waiting for the new 0:30 GSA but my current GSA gets plenty of 🇦🇺 bush… Get some off-road training from BMW off-road and come to Australia to do the GS Safari 👊 💨
I’m not 100% sure as that’s the sound you should be hearing when your ABS is working but bearing in mind I had it turned off for the rear and I don’t touch the front brake when riding in conditions like this, I’m a little confused myself
Hello - very well shown off-road on the 1300 GS - good job. I have a question: what suspension settings etc. were best for you in this terrain? Can you share with me your experience on this subject? Kind regards !
Correct. The fault is not due to the denalis. It’s due to the fact you have removed your factory lights. If you keep the factory lights and place and then add Denalis then you will not get any faults.
As a long term GS owner, 4 so far, the 1300 seems to have departed from what I most like about the GS; big, in your face presence, slightly intimidating. Its seems to have got smaller. I wanted bigger. I'm 6'5" and they optimized for shorter riders?
I agree but I think we should wait for the GSA as I think this will suit yours and my requirements. This smaller 1300 chassis inspires more confidence for the trails for sure.
We have already done a fair few videos on 1300 but we still have more to come. Btw, I’d be happy to look over your light range and see if it’s a possible product range we could support.
So a lot of people say they wouldn't take their R1300 GS off road. I am looking for a big Adventure bike for about 70% offroad and long distance touring, should I just stick with the tried and true R1250 GSA?
If it was 70% off-road I’d want the 1250GS or the 1300GS. If it was 30% off road then I’d be inclined to choose the gsa but that’s me with very long legs. Gsa is fine off road but for whatever reason the 1250GS would be my preferred bike if it was 70% off road
Hello - really good job. When I was watching your report, I heard knocking noises while driving off road - are these sounds caused by the drive shaft? My GS1300 has exactly the same thing. In the previous GS1250, such sounds occurred very rarely. Currently, these sounds irritate me very much when driving off road - do you think there is a solution? Kind regards Michael
It’s not off. That’s the enduro Rallye screen that comes with the bike. However if I had a larger screen I’d have taken it off anyway. Big windscreens are only good for commuting or motorway riding. Dangerous for riding trails as they can cause injury (clothes lining)

I did a day with mick a couple of years ago too. I forgot to mention that in the video. Off road riding is my true passion in riding at the moment.
Booked 4 days in Spain with the 1300. Can't wait, too.

I feel really bad now as I thought you milked it a bit 😂. Speedy recovery mate
😂 I would rather that be the case to be honest. I’m going to be off road for a while 😢but the drugs are great so, every cloud 😊
Very good. Better than riding to Bath where Lib Dims are planning to charge motorcycles for parking at the same rate as cars😢😢 #boycottcityofbath.

My wife loves this bike. She had a MT07. This fits her well, all her female friends like it too. Its a little small for me, Ill keep the 1250GS.

That vortex transition makes it look like you're crashing. 😄 Nice seeing the 1300GS in action. 👍
Great effort! Looked like a brilliant day out bar the big offs! Webb's off looked like a painful one! Nice vid as always
Thanks 👍

I have a question: what suspension settings etc. were best for you in this terrain? Can you share with me your experience on this subject? Kind regards !
It’s just put into
Enduro pro.
You did well not to stack it. Those deep ruts are tough to negotiate. Any aggressive turn of the bars and the front wheel have you off
I hear tjat if you have the factory fog lights, if you take them off to put the denalis, you get a fault code?
Correct. The fault is not due to the denalis. It’s due to the fact you have removed your factory lights. If you keep the factory lights and place and then add Denalis then you will not get any faults.
Excellent video - I love the look of the Enduro wheels. How do you find the wheels (compared to spoked wheels).
I love them. Flickable bike
Hello Steve, what navigator do you have?
Carpe iter abikething.com/shop/filter-tax=brands:288. You can use whatever navigation software you like. Links up to the bmw wonderwheel too.
Guys, how do you think, could this ride be the same with ASA?

Can not believe that you rode that bike in 1st gear entire time 😂😂😂
I didn’t plus the uphill climbs are not represented well in the video. Steeper than it appears on the sections I think you’re referring to.
