    I started watching this podcast as a way to try and reconnect with my faith. I started talking to a girl that was christian and actually took things serious. I told her I had faith but honestly looking back now I feel sick to my stomach not really realizing what I was doing. Idk. I stopped watching and even really making an effort once we started dating and lost that.
    Shes gone now. Its been about a month but im sitting here tonight watching disney movies feeling lost. She loved disney. I wasnt huge becuase (well self explanatory). I started trying to go through things and havent felt right. I ended up refreshing a few times until wendigoons channel popped up. The first thing that came to mind was this old podcast and the memories of how it felt reconnecting with my faith and that i had someone else to show me the way i guess.
    I messed up though and lost the bigger picture. Little fights and hurt feelings over really nothing. I might not be able to fix everything but i can try fixing myself.
    People make fun of christians and they always seem to get hate. I guess thats made me turn the same way. Thats not how it always was though. Id like to try and get back to finding my faith.
    This podcast may be over but i genuinely wanted to say thank you for making an impact enough that i remembered this channel. If it wasnt for guys like you (adins and wendi) i dont know if my perspective would have truly changed on christians and what it means to be Christian. I dont have money to donate or anything right now. If i ever see a stream from either of your channels though ill make sure to stop by and say thank you.
    Legitimately helped me feel comfortable? Feel idk welcomed into having faith. Might just be a bunch of rambling but just wanted to say that what you guys do does have an impact. Thank you

    This is miraculous news to me, the only narrative I've heard regarding suicide in the Christian sphere was that it excludes you from salvation. I had an older brother(not by blood) who was lost to suicide a few years ago, I had a hard time not dwelling on it because damnation was the only thing I heard about in the Christian sence with regard to suicide.
    I had gone looking and asking around before, so this isn't the first time I've heard it doesn't exclude one from salvation. I just think hearing it from Isaiah has helped put my mind at ease, oddly enough I put Isaiahs opinion in pretty high authority with this stuff.

      Delayed response, but I know someone who tried in high school Her church told her that meant she had lost her salvation.
      John 10:25-30
      English Standard Version
      25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name bear witness about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me,[a] is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”
      From this, I take the phrase "no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's Hand" and the "my hand" part and said to her (and anyone else) "You are someone who tried and failed. Even if you had succeeded, if you really believe, you can't take yourself out of His hand."
      She did pass due to a car accident, but I expect I will see her again past the Pearly Gates. Hope that helps.

  • @BaphomentBeLeif
    @BaphomentBeLeif ปีที่แล้ว +8

    37:41. You put him on the mechanic car lifts, raise him up. So thats the elevated part. Take those tire removal machines except your ramming them thru the rims so get lodged into wheel rotor and brake calipers on all four wheels. And i guess when its all said and done you use one of that military jeep’s arsenal weapons to spear him to check and make sure he actually ran out of gas. And flip side, he comes back because he was never a gas car he was actually electric and uses the universal background electromagnetic field for infinite source of energy. So can never really die. Like soul is one with the universe and creation.(this is a tangent) Well the many dimensions of the reality we inhabit. Like we mention demons and angels and the powers they possess, they gotta be from a higher dimension, like obviously God’s plane of existence is much higher then the angels and demons, but angels and demons are on a higher plane of existence then us. I still feel we have a part of us that is capable of tuning in or connected with higher dimensions, i think that part is our souls. But our bodies and the shit we see hear and think is for the most stuck in 3 dimensions. And we are like the youngest siblings in this primordial heavenly family. So demons and angels are our older brothers, and God is the father keeping the household in check. Its more metaphorical and symbolic. But i think im on to something with my hypothesis definitely needs some more research to flesh out the theory.

    I’ve always considered the classification of angels to be man’s attempt to relate Heaven to what they know on earth, so, there is God, the supreme being, and His kingdom must be organized like any kingdom on earth would be with a hierarchy of beings to serve whatever purpose He needs at a particular time and, if that makes the ideology more relatable to the average Joe, great. The only thing I’ve never understood is why God would need angels to guard His throne because that implies He is vulnerable.

    • @thegrimharvest
      @thegrimharvest 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree with you. I think, as fascinating as it is to speculate on the subject, at best we're really truly peering through a glass darkly.
      We're trying to comprehend beings and an existence that is truly fundamentally alien to us and our existence. They are truly other, truly different than us, truly separate.
      We've got at most glimpses of fragments of them, their existence and their world, for lack of a better explanation. It's a bit like trying to understand what life would be like in the 4th dimensional. We can only speculate and with advanced math, attempt to simulate an experience that can translate to us 3rd dimensional people.
      Whatever they're made of, however they exist, as in a material mechanistic form, they're not bound by probably any of the laws and limitations we are.
      They can be anywhere at anytime, they either have no true physical form, and what we experience is the projection of them into our minds, or when they take physical form, it's entirely subjective and can be made to look like however the situation calls for. Best guess.
      That's only trying to get to "who" or "what" or "how" they exist. We've got even less to go off of as to how they operate when they're not taking physical form.
      I think it's understandable to try to overlay our human frameworks onto their world and how they relate to each other. It's probably not very accurate, but I don't know that we would even be able to fully understand it if they decided to come down and just lay it all out, either.
      We're hypothetically talking about an entire race of beings who operate and exist outside of or beyond our 3 dimensional physical universe of space and time. We're already way in the weeds, and then we have to try to imagine how non human beings would form and function in a non human society, in a non physical environment, while still being able to interact with and observe humanity and interact with the physical universe.
      As far as throne guardians? Maybe you have it backwards. God and His throne don't need to be protected from outside, perhaps the outside needs to be protected from approaching Him and His throne?
      Something like bouncers wearing radiation suits. To keep you from getting too close and being disintegrated by being too close to infinite power, life, and holiness. In which case it's probably a very important task.
      Bit this too id just speculation. Throne guardians may be just our flimsy attempt to comprehend something that is beyond us.

    Remember that while on the planet, we are locked into the time space continuum. When we die we are "with the Lord" says Paul and that means our lives are on the time clock of God so your dispensationalists have their theology frozen in time. The saints that are raptured in a twinkling could then meet Him in the air and immediately follow Him the white rider back "in his train" and serve with Him in the "Kingdom Come".

    My great great great great grandmother saw an angel stand on the front porch of her house when her son Don Rob passed away at 3 years old. She stepped towards it with her hand out and just wanted to touch it but each step she took towards it, it would get higher and higher in the sky until she was standing where it was and it was gone. When she went back inside her son was deceased. She always said she doesn't know why she didn't ask it a question but she just wanted to touch it's robes. It was about 7 feet tall wearing white with blonde almost white long hair. Idk if she said it had wings or not because my grandmother who told me the story is no longer living either. But angels can take many forms including flesh and blood.

  • @TheMimiSard
    @TheMimiSard ปีที่แล้ว +4

    On the Rapture-End Times events discussion, the version I grew up knowing (Seventh-Day Adventist) is, there will be an undefined time when everything that can be done is done, the Investigative Judgment (a very SDA-exclusive idea) is done, and the Time of Troubles (the "Tribulation"?) begins. This is a period of lots of trouble, natural disasters, governments and people get really bad, the Faithful get persecuted. Then the Second Coming happens, is a huge event that _everyone_ sees. The Righteous (Saints, Faithful), those who were dead are brought back, those alive are remade perfect and then they get taken into the sky (the "Rapture"). Earth is left desolate afterwards and the Thousand Year Rule happens, with the Faithful living in Heaven. I am a bit unsure at this point if the Unrighteous are dead during this time, or they get to be alive in the wreckage of Earth. For the same reason my church is Annihilationist, I am inclined to think they are dead during that time. The City of God comes to Earth after the 1000 years, all the Unrighteous and demons will rise up to fight, but will be wiped out and annihilated (Annihilationism is the idea that when the Unrighteous are finally destroyed, they are totally obliterated and wiped from existence for the rest of Eternity). God's Kingdom settles on a remade Earth and perfect eternity begins.
    So TL;DR, Tribulation, Second Coming and Rapture, Thousand Year Reign, City Comes to Earth, Final War, Annihilation, Kingdom of God and Eternal Perfection.
    P.S. The "Advent" in the name "Seventh-Day Adventist" refers to our belief of the Second Coming as huge event, and the event we are looking forward to.

    • @TheMimiSard
      @TheMimiSard ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Addendum, SDA beliefs on death is that no one besides Enoch and Elijah are currently in Heaven. Everyone who died, are currently dead, and being dead is kinda like dreamless sleep. So the idea of people going straight to Heaven after dying is not a SDA belief. Everyone will go to heaven at the same time.
      Annihilationism is a belief that is adjacent to that, that when God finally destroys the Unrighteous, they are _gone_ . I view this as a merciful thing, as the idea of eternal torment does not strike me as the act of a Merciful God. There are verses in the Bible that speak of eternal fire, but what is eternal about it? I recall at least one verse had a phraseology about "the smoke will rise forever", but that doesn't say the fire will burn forever, just the smoke will float off into the universe and be a random cloud of space-dust.

    14:55 This is my interpretation as well. I don't remember where it was (Maybe Paradise Lost?) But I have an image of angels (in their "human" angel form) standing in front of God before He introduces Jesus and at that moment some of the angels transform into Seraphim and begin the "Holy, holy, holy" chant.
    I like to think that in the likelihood that the Abrahamic religions are correct that angels in their "human" forms are more of a human invention to better convey the idea to people who might not know what to even imagine; and that their "true" form is something that is just imperceivable in our 3D plane of reality.

    Love the podcast, although, I think there is some misunderstanding of the different translations. All of our modern translations (including the NIV and NLT) are based on some of the oldest manuscripts of the Bible that we have available to us. They are not translations of other translations etc. They also go through a process called textual criticism which allows us to return to the original text reliably. Additionally, most modern translations will give you footnotes that will tell you about any disputed parts of the Bible. KJV is a great translation and many people like it, but I wouldn’t argue that there is a “best” translation. Each translation is written for a different purpose. The NASB and ESV are written to be “word-for-word” as closely as you can get with our modern English, even if it means sacrificing some understanding. The NIV, RSV, NRSV are more “phrase-to-phrase,” so not quite as “accurate” as the NASB would be, but it doesn’t sacrifice meaning as much. The NLT originally was more of a commentary, then it got more popular so the translation committee went back through to be more faithful to the text. It’s still a thought-for-thought translation, which just means that they’re trying to convey the same concepts but not necessarily using the same words to do so. An example of this would be to replace an Greek or Hebrew idiom with another parallel idiom in English, that way it gets the same idea across, but by using something that would be more familiar to our culture. The KJV, while still a good translation, was written for his kingdom and has some politically motivated changes in response to the Geneva Bible. These aren’t so significant that you can’t use it, but it is important to recognize. An example of this would be Isaiah 49:25 which the Geneva (a popular translation in King James’ day) uses the word tyrant, the KJV avoids this word and replaced it with “terrible”. The Geneva Bible used “tyrant” about 400 times whereas the KJV doesn’t use it once. Btw, most modern translations also go with “tyrant”. Again, the KJV isn’t a bad translation, you just have to understand why it was written. The only translations that I’d really consider bad are those that don’t go to the Greek and Hebrew manuscripts.

    There is one question that has been in the back of my mind after reading about a few demons mentioned in the Lesser Key of Solomon, stemming from how a few descriptions of some of the demons mention how they "hope to return to heaven after x-number of years" (some 1,000, some 500, etc.).
    Are there Risen Demons, Angels that had fallen from grace, but have since redeemed themselves, and returned to the heavens?
    I ask this question, because I also remember reading how in Hinduism, there are a few instances where some Ashura's had reformed themselves from powerful beings of destruction, to powerful beings who came to use their mighty strength to aide the good gods and protect the helpless.
    The process of redemption, reformation, repentance, and forgiveness surely isn't exclusive to mortal beings.

      If the Bible didn’t tell us than we have to assume that the fallen ones are not going to be granted access to heaven again. God however can do whatever he wants at anytime. So we won’t know that, but for our existence on earth we are to follow what the word says and not try to interpret it in ways that God didn’t approve.

    After a short search I couldn’t find anything that jumped out to me, so I’d be very interested in knowing where they got the “those who are feeble-minded are under Grace” thing (the implication being that babies/young children, the elderly with Alzheimer’s/dementia, and anyone with a mental disability, basically all those who mentally literally don’t have the ability to choose to accept Christ nor deny Him, are under Grace and will still attain Salvation). That’s a concept that’s always been taught to me, and from a gut-instinct level it *feels* right, but I’ve never seen any specific proof for it so I’d still really like to see it written in the Bible somewhere

    Because of how long and how much effort it took for a bible to be hand written before the printing press existed could the classifications of angels have been generalized and lumped together to save time and energy?

    • @alynsak
      @alynsak ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Possibly. As the Bible is the divine inspiration from God, the original people who wrote the difference books wrote what they experience and what God told them to. Then it was written again and again later on before printing was invented. So maybe it was condensed, but maybe we just don’t ever get a specific picture of they’re classification because it’s not necessary for us to know. We might also ever be able to comprehend it anyways in human form.

    I don’t like the idea that angels ruled over regions of the earth. God would not put his angels in a position to be worshipped over himself right? I think maybe demons were “gods” to people but I think most idols in history were worthless and in reality had no power at all.
    It is amazing to think that even angels in their most powerful forms are only very dim reflections of the glory of God. And even if a demon were to have some sort of “power” it is nothing compared to the true power of the Holy Spirit, God, we have with us as Christians.

      From what i understand this is called the dueteronomy 32 world view and the nation's being governed by lesser gods(sons of god) was God's way of judgment on the nations for what they did at the tower of babel. The people chose to disobey God's commands and wanted to follow and worship other gods so God let them. He chose Israel to start his plan of eventually bringing back all of the nations (gentiles) through his son Jesus Christ. Jesus stripped all the power away from these corrupt authorities when he died and rose from the grave and the holy spirit cemented this when it not only indwelt jews but also gentiles after Jesus ascended back to the Father.
      Also why would the israelites be seduced by other gods if those gods didn't have some kind of power to give or bargain with?
      The old testament is clear there are other gods but they are not the one true God. They are corrupt beings that at one point were good but saught worship for themselves and one day they will be judged by God himself. That comes from psalm 82

    Did anybody ever think that the concept of God or the "Story of God" is the first interpretation of the original rulers of men? The loneliness of being the most powerful is kind of some innate when it comes to man. What if the human concepts of emotion we always equate to God aren't just personifications but genuine descriptions of feelings and human expression. We spoke it, wrote it down, and now worship it. What if we got it wrong and our human interpretation is just that. I'm here for the message of just not being a bad person but to imagine a perfect being wants or needs anything is kind of arrogant imo.

The fact that everyone wrote about the same one true God at different points in history without knowing each other is proof that God isn’t just made up. How would they all know who God is if it was only their own ideas they made up without living in the same time? There are too many accounts from different people in the bile over the course of history to say that God isn’t real and it’s just our emotional selves who created a story.

      You’re not God though so you can’t say that He doesn’t give people a chance even after earthly death. We don’t know that. Plus, the reason people take their lives is because of demonic influence. Otherwise no one would want to do that. When people suffer so greatly that they feel the only way to stop it is to die, that’s not just our own thoughts. That’s the enemy making us believe that it’s the only way to stop our pain.

      @@alynsak If demonic influence were the only reason people would do terrible things, then why does free will exist? You ALWAYS have a choice. @@JediDrewsterTquestion, have you ever felt like you should commit suicide? If you do read this, before you move on to everything else I’ll say, answer this question. Because if you haven’t, you can’t speak on what it’s like to go through it.
      Because I promise you, that’s not a choice. When people do it, it’s because they are in such a dark horrible place that the only thing their brain can do to relieve the pain of life is to end it. It’s a mental illness, no one just decides “I’m going to kill myself today because I feel like it”. I can’t accept the idea that a God of mercy, compassion, and ultimate love would consider that enough of a crime against Him that they’d be kept out of heaven.
      And saying someone with suicidal thoughts doesn’t have a relationship with Christ is just wrong. Having a relationship with Christ doesn’t make you immune to pain. We all go through low points in our faith, but that doesn’t sever our ties with Him. It’s frankly gross to say people with a mental illness can’t be connected to Jesus.

It was based off of way later Greek manuscripts than what the NRSV or even ESV uses today. The reason you think King James didn’t have anything to do with it but that’s because you would have to believe he had a major part in it but that is what happened, he was the person that authorized it. He killed William Tyndale because he didn’t want someone other than him to okay a scriptural interpretation. As a Christian historian I couldn’t in my right conscience use the KJV as a true Biblical and critical interpretation of the scriptures.
