- Originally from Pakistan, Tahira and her husband moved to Saudi Arabia over 15 years ago, where they now live with their four boys. Upon arriving in Saudi, Tahira was faced with not just one, but *two*, new languages - Arabic and English.
As their family grew and her sons started learning English at school, Tahira began to realise the growing need to learn the language herself. Tahira relied on her husband to translate for her so that she could communicate with her sons’ teachers and doctors, all of whom spoke English. She couldn’t help her boys with their homework because her English was not good enough - something she felt very sad and embarrassed about.
So, she decided to join Hey Lady! After practising English inside the community for less than one year, Tahira developed the fluency she always dreamed of! She can now communicate confidently in English with everyone she meets, and no longer relies on her husband or children to translate for her!

It was quite interesting to see and hear about the life of an expat in KSA. Many challenges are faced by parents with special needs children.
