    I bought these speakers and I'm really happy with them. I have it matched with an SMSL AD18 amp and love the sound it produces. These are my first proper pair of speakers so hard to compare it against others. Bass for me is pretty low in my small living room but I think you are correct in that it could be a little faster. They look fantastic too.

    Great review! I like the level of detail and how it isn't just about the technical stuff but also how immersive it makes the music experience. We all love a bit of Britney!

    Great review ! I love those speakers too. i bought 2 pairs :) One for my desktop and one for my bedroom. If you're handy you can upgrade : the cap in tweeter for a jantzen superior z cap and the one on the woofer with a jantzen cross cap. You ditch all the sandcast resistors for mills ones and the speakers Puch well above its weight ! And the best it keeps the same philosophy of sound. You gain clarity without loosing it's charm the tone.
    And if you want the kick and amazing texture in bass you change the internal wire for the atohm z mini in the woofer and a good 1mm2 copper coded with silver on the twweter. You solder the wires directly on the drivers and the biding post. The texture after that is out of this world.
    You'll still need a sub for the low low but you'll have something really amazing.
    Finally if you want to take the voices and textures to the limit, you change the coils for 14 gage air core. You have amazing amplifiers you'll feel it.
    If a little diy project is possible for you, i have the values for the coils.

      @@pierrefornallaz364 wrong !
      Any speaker under 2000 won't have that quality components inside and even well after 2000.
      Some special speakers are qualified for upgrades due to the good drivers and signature sound. Here it's the case.

    These speakers do a number of things wrong, but thay sound so right and enjoyable.
    Does anybody question their 89db efficiency level. I thought my myryad 150w duel mono would drive them easier. What do you think?

    • @SmallRoomAudio
      @SmallRoomAudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suspect their efficiency is overcooked, most manufacturers do that! I found they open up after 50 hours, the surrounds soften a fair bit. You should have more than enough to blast them with the mono rig - enjoy! 👍

      @@SmallRoomAudio I think there is a HUGE opportunity on TH-cam for nearfield reviews. I encourage you to review the ELAC Debut 5.2s (unbeatable for the price), KEF Q150s and the ELAC Debut Reference DBR62 speakers.

      Cool! All three of those are top picks! I’ve got a Dynaudio shoot-out between the Evoke 20 and Special 40 coming up in the next few weeks, I’ll be sure to give commentary on nearfield usage and then once I’ve done a bit of eBaying, look at those three options you picked out!

    Agree with the soundstage, imaging and tonality part. Paired it with a IOTAVX. Do you find it a bit “rushing” ?

    • @SmallRoomAudio
      @SmallRoomAudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Vic - thanks for the comment. Can you expand a bit on ‘rushing’? Do mean the timing is a bit off?

  • @nc3419
    @nc3419 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    OK, tonality is good...how is instrument separation and depth of the stage. My Zetas do a nice job of music but lacks a bit of aire in the highs. So instead of delicate, wispy highs, the highs are there but just matter of fact, hopefully that clarifies it? I am looking for more a more airy top end when the music calls for it like my focals. Any thoughts?

    In a near field (desktop pc setup) how close can you place them to a wall, and what is the minimum listening distance?

    • @SmallRoomAudio
      @SmallRoomAudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Lars, these speakers are excellent for nearfield and image beautifully. My preference is to have them 2ft out from all walls with a minimum of a 4ft triangle - The more space you can give them the better, but you can get away with 10cm from the wall and a 2ft triangle and they will still work well. Hope that helps!

    When you say something sounds slow- what does that mean to you?

    • @SmallRoomAudio
      @SmallRoomAudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! It’s mainly in the bass with this speaker, the rhythmic snap isn’t quite on point, almost feeling ever so slightly behind the passage of music. It’s not awful by any means, but when compared directly to more nimble speakers you do feel a sense of slowness. Hope that helps.

    Great vid. Thanks a lot. Could you please tell me if they are better suitable for vintage Technics SU 7700k, Technics SU-V 460, 5.1 Receiver Yamaha RXV 596 RDS or Stereo amp Yamaha RX 397/597? Are they comparable with Canton Karat 920? Which speaker would you prefer ? Thanks a lot for your info.

      Hi Angelheart, thank you for the kind words. Unfortunately I can’t advise you on that as I don’t have direct experience with them. If you can get a demo pair in your room to try out, that’s probably the best way to really know. All the best, and enjoy the music!

    Which size of room do you consider as a small room ? I heard you use b&w 705 s2, they are relatively big for small room ... (?)

      Hi Oleg! The bigger the speaker the more work you have to do to make it sound good in a small room. I lay out the dimensions of my room in the ‘big speaker - small room’ feature review video of the Klipsch Cornwall 👍

      Fair enough - although the recent videos don’t have any of that content. I know you love to criticise my style, as I’ve seen your other comments -but I’d like to say for the record that it was fun to make these videos at the time, they were a great way to get through Covid lockdown with a smile on our faces. I started the channel to be fun with no idea that it would become popular. As subs have grown it’s become more professional and we’ve made the videos better - but I won’t apologise for having fun at the time, or enjoying myself!!
