You think guilds in Tamriel ever get sick of appointing people the head of the guild and then that person just wandering off for other adventures and never tending to said guild again?
Dan Peters makes being a leader almost stupid. I say you should not be Appointed leader. At most second Unless its Stated that while you would love to you have a quest that must be done and they(usually the last leaders second) will either agree and offer to hold the fort while you adventure or the second becomes the new leader while you continue your adventures in the name of that guild. The leader should be someone who is respected, reliable and everpresent. The PC at most is respected but never there.
This is very true. Sometimes it makes it more difficult to roleplay. "I'm trying join the thieves guild, I want to learn how to become a better thief!" "Nah, you get to be the Nightingale, and head of the thieves guild! Even though you are leader, only you can complete our radiant quests." I understand the leader helping out guild members, but usually lesser guild members would be doing the quests in order to prove their strength, and to earn a higher rank.
Omnik TWR Totally should also have a guild managment system. Like you can ask one of your lieutenants(whoever is in charge of member management) to compile a list of possible recruits. You pick and choose recruits and they are not present memebrs in the HQ(they are just random NPC like for example can have Theives recruit or whatever) and as leader you send them and quest and if succeded they bring in gold and status. You can use said gold and status to upgrade the guild and buy gear for the higher level grunts, etc etc. And as such you yourself can lead from the front. Taking high risk quest to further raise your guilds status. You know an actual faction system. Basically
Going on Oblivion nostalgia,FudgeMuppet? First the Acrobat build in Skyrim and now Grayfox and Oblivion relaxing nostalgic music. Seems someone is itching for Skyblivion. :P
Playing ES:III, ES:VI, ES:V, and their respective expansions. I have to agree that The final thieves guild quest in oblivion is probably the best and my personal favorite.
When I stole the Elder Scroll for the first time, I didn't think to equip the Boots of Spring Heel Jack when I took the fall. However, my acrobatics skill was in the high 70s or 80s because I never stopped jumping when I walk around. When I finally hit the ground, I took a lot of damage, but lived to tell about it. Even better was the fact I got to keep my springy boots for the rest of the game. It wasn't until my second play trough the TG quest line that I realized using the boots to survive the fall destroyed them forever.
There is a thief in the elder scrolls universe that has stolen from gods, and even stole a person's tattoo off their skin without them noticing... the dragonborn is a small fry in the thief world
Ravyn Imyan: "You're good, but your no Gray Fox." Me: Excuse me? I've robbed all of Skyrim blind, have recovered various rare artifacts including the fabled Crown of Barenziah, I have all of the holds in my pocket, I'm the Guild Master. What have you done lately?
Mercer Frey stole nocturnal's skeleton key. Seems she has a problem guarding her stuff, you would think the Daedric Prince of thieving and shadows would be better at it. Would be cool to see the Nightingale go to retrieve the Cowl since the curse has been removed so now Nocturnal is pissed and wants it back.
Technically to be called the Gray Fox you have to be the best theif to the point of out doing the last Gray Fox. So by that the Gray Fox is the best theif around. The last Gray Fox gave you the plan, but you committeed the theft there by making you the best theif earning you the mantle of Gray Fox, meaning the Gray Fox was the one that actually committeed the theft. There by making the that theft one of the Gray Fox's, not yours. Regardless of who wears the mantle the mantle is the same. It's not person under the identify of the Gray fox, but the identy it self who's the greatest theif.
Well, if every inheritor of the cowl has to pull a crazy heist like that to earn it, or maybe even have to steal the cowl itself (again, no small task), then The Gray Fox is always the best thief, since you would require to be so to even get the artifact.
I’m early Also brilliant modded build Grey Fox You need the Grey Fox Mask and phendrix magic evolved as mods Skills needed Normal Thief Perks alteration and illusion Spells invisibility, Growth and Shrink
I think the gray fox could still be the greatest thief in tamriel. If it's passed along to the best thief then it is the best thief consistently although the wearer changes. But that's a pretty big if.
This damn channel.... keeps getting me back into skyrim. damnit. How does this channel keep getting me excited to load up skyrim after all these play hours?
my question would be; how do they square the grey fox with the nightingales? how is the grey fox a legend but mercer is a traitor? why is there no grey fox in skyrim, and if there was, wouldn't the nightingales be out to murder him?
Templar 67 in my opinion all the quests in oblivion were more thought out and interesting than Skyrim. Going to oblivion and shivering isles, becoming the grey fox, stealing an elder scrolls, joining the college and making spells and staffs, going inside a person's nightmares, going inside someone's paintings etc. The list of amazing quests go on
Dopplin yeah my opinion also to me it's like yeah the world would end but still be better then being enslaved by a dadric Prince and had better in my option the quest are better
Dopplin yeah if they can rerelease Skyrim for every other platform they should be able to adapt oblivions story to the same engines, features, and animations theyre using now. I would fucking love that, Nintendo did it with Majora's mask, they could successfully do the same.
Love the videos man!! Awesome way to pass the time at work and gain more knowledge on one of my favorite gaming franchises.. next to metal gear solid of course!
trying to shoot that damn arrow into the pillar for the heist was hell for me, i couldnt see in the room properly because it was so dark lol, i miss being 11 ;)
I think you can call the Grey Fox the Best thief in Tamriel because whether its the Hero of Kvatch or one of the previous masters of the Thieves Guild it doesn't matter the Grey Fox is the accumulation of who knows how many people.
Without watching the video, from what I remember from Oblivion: One of the previous Guildmasters from the Thieves Guild stole the Cowl from Nocturnal, she cursed the Cowl so that anyone who wore it would have their real identity erased from history, during the TG questline in Oblivion, the Gray Fox sends you out to gather a few items for a big heist so that you can steal an Elder Scroll, once you give the Scroll to the Gray Fox he uses it to remove the curse, now as for what happened to the Cowl during the 500 year gap between Oblivion and Skyrim, no one really knows
11:00, uh dude, taking off the Cowl in front of a guard gives you a bounty anyway, if you want to wear the Cowl for benefits only, wear it while in the Shivering Isles because the guards don't care that you're the Gray Fox
The first time I played skyrim, I found the bust of the gray fox and I was like who the hell this is but when I started looking into it I literally just felt like I looked into the mind of einstein. I still have yet to play through oblivion much but I do know that If I do play through it I will be sure to join the thieves guild before anything else.
So, being the Gray Fox is many people, wanders if the Gray Fox cowl that is in Skyrim, is the character from Oblivion. If you became the guild master then..
*James Hurt* its probably not. Skyrim takes place 200 years after oblivion and since “The Gray Fox” is a title and not a single person, it really could be any gray fox from before or after the events of Oblivion. However, the protagonist of Oblivion does appear in Skyrim. After Shivering Isles, your Oblivion character becomes the new Sheogorath and the Sheogorath you meet in Skyrim mentions a bunch of stuff from Oblivion, confirming that he is still the Hero of Kvatch
I hadn't thought about the 200 year gap between movies. But as far as Sheogorath, I saw a video on that the other day, My main characters are normally female, that would be weird to be him,, ha-ha.
Every time a guild master tried to mess with nocturnal she punished the who guild badly like the first one stole the cowl and mercer frey stole the skeleton key, and every time it's us the player who ends up fixing it.
I should of abided the warning i havnt finished the thieves guild due to not being good at the lock system in oblivion hope I forget it by the time I figure out great video
No they haven't,thought I wish they would for people who can't really stand the graphics of morrowind or the bugs even though it's all worth it for the fantastic main story.
how do we read about the first thief to steal the cowl if the curse would erase them from history? Was the breaking of the curse retroactive? or did the curse not take effect until it was laid meaning anything already documented was safe from the curse? (don't expect an answer really, just wondering aloud)
*Zonks666* its basically a reset button for your previous life and lets you start over. Any reputation you make as the Gray Fox would be known and isn’t immediately erased from history.
The cowls curse makes it so whoever wears it has their identity erased from history. Say you put it on, people would know what you do as the gray fox, but your name is basically forgotten completely along with your identity. Like with the count of anvil, his wife knew she has a husband before, but had no memory of his face or name,if he tried to tell her anything, the curse would keep the words from getting through.
Pest Master u have to do the radiant thieves guild quests which lead to 4 actually big side jobs in order to make the guild come to its former glory. After completing all 4 side quests he will show up but there's one quest for markarth, solitude, windhelm and whiterun and in order to get one major side quest in a city u must do 5 radiant quests in that city so if I do 5 radiant quests in whiterun delvin will tell me I have a special job then starting the side quest do this for all of those citys. If you don't know what I'm talking about well google for yourself.
Actually if you have high acrobatics, a maxed out vampire,(to reduce normal damage)and with some luck you can survive the fall down the fire chute and keep the boots.or just use the copy glitch
What really disappointed me about the Arrow of Extrication quest was the fact that the secret passage was just the same as any other. I figured, like, a spell was required to open it up, in a specific way, and it would be some grand puzzle. But it was just like any other hidden passage in the game- just yank a pillar and the wall falls off
Roy Kay There are 4 mods that I know that feature the Gray Cowl. One is from the creation club. I believe it's called Artifacts of Nocturnal (the author also made a mod the Artifacts of Boethiah) and it's available both classic and SE PC and Xbox. - The last one is just the Cowl and may only be for classic PC (never tried the mod).
Claudio Moita Thank you! I now must search for other artifact mods, since you mentioned Artifacts of Boethiah, though I'm sure it will lag my game to high Hell lol.
Roy Kay Artifacts or other items mods don't cause lag unless it has a complicated script effect (like a effect that depends of your surroundings), which some mod authors can minimize the scripts with patches, or a mod adds a heavy detailed dungeon or region (initially, the mod with the artifacts of Boethiah had a island in a plane of Oblivion where both the sky and the river were on fire which caused lots of crashes for low and medium pc users).
I loved that quest as a kid even though I super fucked it up my first time through by jumping down the pipe with the shoes on before I got the elder scroll it was still a really fun quest.
You can actually keep the Boots Of Springheel Jack if you have a high enough Acrobatic when you do the quest and can survive the fall then the boots dont break and you can keep them

Blue★ Exactly. That would be an excellent system in both games.
You should work with Bethesda and help make better games, Blue.
he takes the cowl off and its none other than Todd Howard
deepThroat TheSkinnyPenis Who's laughing now! Yes, I was the gray fox...
He stole all our happiness when he introduce the Creation Club.
And he would've gotten away with it too if it wasn't for you meddling kids, and that dog.
ItzKlamzXtreme lol
He looks at your shocked face and says "It just works"

The greatest thief is the Creation Club.
*Matthew Chirino* ironic considering that seems to be where the cowl is in Skyrim.
Antonio Diavolo thats master symbolism right there.
yes it is... yes it is...
Antonio Diavolo 🙂🔫
LOL
I've got my eye on you, SNEAK THIEF.
My favorite part is that at the end of the quest line Captain Lex works for the former Gray Fox as his guard captain
One of my favorite pieces of lore, always wanted to role play as the gray fox, such a cool thing
If you're a thief and you managed to get this famous.....you're not a very good thief....
High Definition Apollo very good point
Sooooo true
As Kasumi from Mass Effect says, "I'm the best thief around, not the most known"
You'd have to be an even better thief to _stay_ that famous.
Ayy lmao
Playing ES:III, ES:VI, ES:V, and their respective expansions. I have to agree that The final thieves guild quest in oblivion is probably the best and my personal favorite.
I've always said that the Grey Fox was just like Dread Pirate Roberts from The Princess Bride!
Snailybob what about the phantom?
Lol, that’s awesome

Great video, brother. Keep it up!
Would love to see some Elder Scrolls lore form earlier titles. Daggerfall, Redguard or even Arena and Battlespire.
Oh shit, didn’t expect to see you here.
I don't think he's the best thief considering the Dragonborn can walk right in front of people in broad daylight and not be seen.
Entire Equestrian The will be no stories told about the greatest thief.

@@TheJPJT1234 what thief? And what tattoo? From who? Lol help me
@@yuppieblick Rajhin, the Khajiit thief god, is said to have stolen the tattoo of empress Kintyra
"HURT ME MORE, SNAKE!" Well that's the Gray Fox I remember..
You're pretty good
I started playing elder scrolls series at Oblivion and the thieves uild was my first quest line I ever finished, great memories! Great video!
Holy shit makes me want to play oblivion... be right back.
Gray Fox? You’re that ninja...
Count Corvus did great things for the Hero and the Guild.
Contrast him with Mercer Frey.
Yeah. Screw your, Mercer.
Ravyn Imyan: "You're good, but your no Gray Fox."

Sir Sir It's because she expects the Nightingales to keep the artifacts safe.
A Daedra with ages of experience and knowing how humans are should know to have a back up plan. lol
Gray fox cowl was literally the only creation club mod I wanted from the reveal trailer but oh well
Hunter Diaz mods

Its 2017 and he still knows to give the spoiler alert. Good look.

Tasosisback the samurai build has horse elements to it
Yeah but It would be nice if it was it's own thing
Remember, Nocturnal *Let* the cowl be stolen
a bug with the grey cowl led to my game being bugged, and the town guards would always attack me, despite i had no bounty,
I think you can call the Grey Fox the Best thief in Tamriel because whether its the Hero of Kvatch or one of the previous masters of the Thieves Guild it doesn't matter the Grey Fox is the accumulation of who knows how many people.
Loved the oblivion thieves guild, if your acrobatics and health was high enough you could keep spring heeled Jacks shoes

Thieves Guild in Oblivion was awesome!
Now that is a good story of The Dread Pirate Roberts.....I mean The Gray Fox! I meant the GREY FOX!
in my games the statue never set nicely in the display case, it was always on the floor. Bugged the heck out of me.

Rajhin the purring liar
Amazing video and research. Bravo
Best thief in tamriel, can he steal a tattoo from the back of a queen.
Technically you can survive the fall with acrobatics 100 and keep the boots
Non of the negatives? In Skyrim, no will ever recognize how powerful you are. EVER.

Speaking of best thief can you do a remastered Thief
Valuables ? Don't mind if I do...*Yoink
FudgeMuppet you should do a modded build using the mod “Gray Cowl of Nocturnal”.
You know, the one that takes you all the way to Hammerfell.
True that would be a cool idea to do.
"I coulda stolen this horse and been halfway to Hammerfell."

Thx i was curious since i can't really bother to do the radiant quests in the thieves guild or any radiant quests
Pest Master No problem glad to help
Do u get the outfit from the creation club, or just the cowl?
Thank you doesn’t cut it anymore, I want reimbursement
Actually if you have high acrobatics, a maxed out vampire,(to reduce normal damage)and with some luck you can survive the fall down the fire chute and keep the boots.or just use the copy glitch

Is the Cowl a mod now? I'm getting my hopes up and am doing my research, but I want to believe.
Roy Kay
There are 4 mods that I know that feature the Gray Cowl.
One is from the creation club.
The others are from Nexus:
- One is a DLC type mod where you travel many trials for the cowl (you end in a desert). The name of the mod is literally The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal and is available to both classic and SE for PC and Xbox.
- The second comes with other artifacts of Nocturnal (like the bow of shadows) which you can get in a small quest in Skyrim.
Roy Kay
Artifacts or other items mods don't cause lag unless it has a complicated script effect (like a effect that depends of your surroundings), which some mod authors can minimize the scripts with patches, or a mod adds a heavy detailed dungeon or region (initially, the mod with the artifacts of Boethiah had a island in a plane of Oblivion where both the sky and the river were on fire which caused lots of crashes for low and medium pc users).
Ohhhhh, ok. Similar to why the Wolf Queen quest crashes when you make changes to clothing.
Well he did steal from a god who can do it with out being killed
Modded Gray Fox build?
Clearly, the best thief in all of Tamriel is the mythical Sweetroll Thief.
I loved that quest as a kid even though I super fucked it up my first time through by jumping down the pipe with the shoes on before I got the elder scroll it was still a really fun quest.
So... How does one get the Cowl from Sheogorath? Cuz that is who would have it. Why would he ever give it up?
Sheogorath? Why would he have Nocturnals cowl?
