A simple and fun performance. As Boris Wild said just being able to perform on that stage for P & T is a win in and of itself. So grats for getting the chance to be there.
So incredibly impressive, performing on Network television in front of Penn & Teller! Always knew you had the skills, now you're finally starting to get that well deserved shine! Bravo!! 👏👏
The best part was that his patter was quite smooth. If all the choices were real (as Penn said they were), then that means he couldn't predict or plan which cards would be selected and how he would describe them in advance. This makes it far harder to have consistent and unbroken patter than another magician who forces every choice and can therefore script the entire trick and practice/memorize the entire thing.
During the Fool Us production process, we have to write out a script for our act. I noticed the opportunity for the joke while transcribing a routine I'd done hundreds of times before. I'm glad you got a kick out of my first performance of the joke!
@@MakotoMagic I giggled at that as well !!! Hey, you'll be glad to know that I've been making some progress at the gym, I'm lifting double my weight ! I know you are also into bodybuilding. 😉
The execution was flawless. I have NO IDEA how you did that. I saw you turn the card around, but I did not see any swapping of cards. Just very clean. Loved it!
it seems like a "simple" trick, but it's done so clean, and the narrative really works into letting you do what you need to do. beautiful slight of hand.
What's amazing on so many of these performances, is Penn's ability to "code" a solution so quickly, on the fly. That's never mentioned and while mundane at times, others, it's pure genius the way he slips in the key words.
I'm not a magician but I watch these clips often. From the very first move, I knew what you were doing. I watched you do the same move three more times. I knew what the move was. But damn, I could not actually see you do it - so smooth and fast. Remarkable level of skill. And that final face up swap from the 10 clubs to the 3 of clubs - don't know how you managed that one at all. Amazing work, wish you the very best of luck!!
I had a similar viewing experience. His handling was very smooth, but he didn't misdirect enough for me not no notice when the moves happened. It was almost like he wanted everyone to see how well the moves were done.
Yes, he was very much, ahem, in control. Like I have a pretty good idea what he must be doing. But even when I know at least the principle of what he is doing, I can’t see a thing. Absolutely refined and perfected movements, brilliantly executed.
@@alricfremanosrs1509 He wasn't showing off. Misdirection, one of a magician's most important tools, is lost on the camera eye. His chops were impeccable.
This is the definition of doing ordinary techniques in extraordinary ways. The methids he used were one of the firsts I learned starting magic but the execution was nicely done.
Watched this video before and still enjoyed watching it my second time. I don't know how you do that trick but it's fun to watch. When other illusionists perform I usually look for angles and moves but for some reason I didn't feel like trying to catch you. lol. Who knows, maybe on my third or 4th watch I might try to figure it out. 😎
Seeing the 3 of clubs (penn and tellers signature force card) and you're story about the 2 and the tens made me completely ready to believe you forced the cards and i was completely baffled. 😂 Well done!
Weird cut at the very end, after the trick and after penn gave his thoughts🤔 That was a good trick, nice sleight if hand, I really like sleight of hand card tricks and as penn said, the story behind it was interesting as well.
In case you're wondering, it was cut intentionally to get rid of a kind of clumsy code from Penn. Sometimes he makes the allusions too thinly-veiled, too easy to understand or google, and this was definitely one of those times.
I know how the trick was done (been into magic my whole half century life) but the patter was excellent, the hallucination story really gripped my imagination and made me ready to see something unbelievable.
Don't worry mate! You were not able to fool Penn & Teller, but you completely fooled me!!! Really nice trick you do, I hope you have a wonderful day! Thank you so much for the show!
..this was a great routine with humor added for good measure! However, personally, I would've done it a fourth time so that when you eventually reveal the cards they are completely different - (like 4 aces) or something... I say this.. cos I know you could pull it off! You have a promising future, buddy - keep at it!! :)
Wow! Now THAT'S how you do card magic! Very clean moves, and clever, succinct banter. First time on national television, but looks like a seasoned professional.
I love your performance, I thank God I don't know how you do it and I don't want to know it! Actually, I guess is P&T loss if they weren't fooled ... even if it's obvious they highly appreciate your skills!
The last time I saw that move done that well, it was a Schaefer beer TV commercial consisting of tricks by John Scarne, featuring close-up shots of his hands and stop motion; just a music track so no patter. You are now in a class with John Fucking Card-Sharp Scarne!
Great performance. I did see a couple of things and for the first time I actually understood what Penn was on about.Keep going it was a said a good performance and well done.
This performance made me to subscribe to your channel. Great skills. Seems there is some editing done while Penn was talking, obviously, doesn' t want few things coming out! But, indeed, it's a great show and very smooth.
You didn't fool them. You looked incredibly nervous. You did a gorgeous trick with consummate skill. Guess which one of those matters. ;) Love your work, man.
Watching Penn and Teller as much as I have, when a magician tells me their pocket has no flaps or hidden compartments, my immediate reaction is "that card isn't going in that pocket". The magic word is 'misdirection', and it is an absolute joy when I have those little reactions. I don't think I'm spoiling anything by saying that, either; it's pretty obvious that you're just pretending to put the card in. For the life of me, though, I have no idea how you're palming it and hiding it on its way back out of the pocket to do the rest of the trick. It doesn't look like your hand is in any way holding anything, or taking up enough space to hide a card at all. That's why I think knowing a trick doesn't take away from it. The execution is just as entertaining... and even someone like me who has zero skill or talent for magic tricks can appreciate it.
Dude be proud of yourself, I tried several slow motion views to figure your trick but I could not spot a flaw nor your trick. You are tricks 10× better than many who got "fool us" awards, frankly speaking you deserve high praise for your trick. Your voice sounded very nervous but the trick was flawless.
He's practiced this sleight of hand so much and so hard it's actually made his arms ripped, very impressive!
A simple and fun performance.

all the basics into one amazing trick! This is one of my favorite style of magic! All skill, no gimmicks, no TV magic.
Dude, I could hear the nervousness in your voice but hot damn you flipping NAILED that routine.
Great job!
He sounded calm to me 🤷🏻♂️😆

In the beginning, that was a good joke 😂 “I got the wrong person” first time I’ve heard that one, that was great 😂
Yes made me laugh

A brilliant example of how mastery of the basics can truly astound an audience. Alyson's reactions say it all.
Wonderful job Makoto!

I'm just curious how he did that lol
What a wonderful way to give some meaning and context to an established idea by giving it a new theme - love it!

I literally got goosebumps when you turned the stand . Wonderful performance
quite an easy trick to figure out, but to perform it this clean, amazing.
Not a compliment
He may not have fooled P&T but he sure fooled me and that's why I'm here.
I truly admire such dedication to the craft.
That really is what it's all about, enjoying the whimsy.

If you slow the video down to .25 the speed, and watch from 1 minute on, you’ll notice nothing and be amazed,
Awesome trick man!!
