      I don't think it will ever be completed haha. That's what I love about the van is the evolution

    The black plastic fittings you are using as spacers between the L-bracket and bars are actually supposed to be used as caps on the roof rack where the bars attach to the rack feet.

    Just a suggestion but could you flip the “L” brackets so then the awning is lower and closer to the van or would it foul the door?

      I can't remember the tolerances but if you need to do it maybe this could work!

    Really liking the vids but sorry that is not how you mount it. The black caps you’ve sat it on are supposed clip over the brackets that are attaching the roof bar to your van to hide the nuts and make it harder for someone to steal your roof bars. Sure you have figured this out by now as it is 3 years after you posted this vid. 👍

    There is a gap where the awning meets the van roof which would let the rain in!

    Hi I was wondering where you purchased the roof bars and awning set?

    • @HughTube
      @HughTube  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try either ulti bar or rhino roof racks

    Wondering if you mounted the L brackets to hang over the end of the roof bars would that then close up the gap to the van or would it then get in the way of the door?

    • @HughTube

      I did try this, but yes it got in the way of the side door. I was going to see if the roof rack can come with a lower or shorter bracket as that would bring it down a good amount.

    Could the black brackets be put on facing down to minimise the gap?

    • @HughTube
      @HughTube  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I tried this but it pushed the awning away from the van too much

    Are you sure that awning shouldnt be mounted *below* the bars, right on top of the door? 😯 The tall angles I think might be for low vans such as the Caddy....?

    • @HughTube

      It worked fine for the time I had it

If you need it. Make the big boy solare a futere project. Stealth vent can also be in the floor.
