I did it to a std caddy not a maxi however the rail would be long enough for a maxi as I had to cut it down. I had a search for "Keder rail for VW Caddy. I can't remember the channel size but I think I still have the off cut in my garage so i will check.
To be very honest I can’t remember off hand if it was 6mm or 8mm I have a piece in my garage I can measure but I’m overseas till next month I will try to remember when I get back there is a link in the description but I think they are out of stock
Hi Neil I got the Reimo Awning Rail here. They were very good to deal with and the delivery was quick www.thecampercoshop.com/reimo-kador-vw-caddy-drive-away-awning-sun-canopy-channel-piping-rail
I have done 3 camp outs since bonding with me sicaflex and it still seems to be ok I have another weekend away this coming weekend and the weather looks like it might be quite bad so this could be the real test.
Very useful. Where did you get awning rail from. I've only seen metal ones & you have to join them
Hi its a Reimo Kador VW Caddy Drive Away Awning & Sun Canopy Channel Piping Rail the link is in the description above.
Can't find that available now what you used. It's the one piece & thin which I like
Yes a few people have contacted me to ask if there is anywhere else to get one but I think they must have stopped making it.
And? Did it stay on your van during wind and Rain?
It stayed on all the time I had the van and I presume it’s still ok
Where did you buy the plastic rail, I can't find it. They are all aluminium...😮
Did you do this to caddy maxi and the link is out of stock any clue where else ? Also what size is the channel ?

Have you ever tried tiger seal?

@@FootstepsTyretracks Thank you. Am going down that figurative route as don't wanna drill holes in Freda's lovely body! (Ford Freda that is)
Exactly the same reason that I did this
Would this work applied on the side of my van? Hightop.
You could certainly bond an awning rail to a hightop and I know of a few that have been done just make sure the area you are bonding to is clean.
@@FootstepsTyretracks I would need it on the side not the top. How would I weigh it down once glue applied?
@@kiwiace625 you would have to tape it in place I would think, maybe use something like frog tape
@@FootstepsTyretracks yes that's great. I've been wondering how I could do it. Very helpful. Thank you
@@kiwiace625 good luck
Did the sikaflex work ok ?
