Fun fact: Floor was a huge fan of Henk Poort in her young age and had posters of him on her bedroom wall (rumors say) who in fact is a Dutch actor and singer, who mainly plays in operas and musicals - he was the "Phantom" for lots of years. In this show he became a hugh fan of Floor and her work with both Nightwish and her solo stuff.

I would love to see your reaction to it - he had everyone in the studio in tears!! PS - I didn’t know he was a Dutch opera singer before watching the show...if I knew, I probably wouldn’t have been so surprised....
Nice reaction, Rebecca. I don’t know what to say but I really felt like I needed to comment anyway. This is a lovely little performance by Floor. I’m not even much of an opera fan but she sounded great. The emotion she can generate continually amazes me. And gets to me as well.
She is a treasure to the planet! I can't even speak 4 languages let alone sing songs so masterfully in 4 languages! I have heard her sing in English, German, Swedish, and Spanish! My word what a gift she has! 🤘😇🤘
From the story of this song is talk about a men who courious and fall in love with the girl(Vilja) at the first sight. So basically Floor Jansen is a real life Vilja because most of peoples been courious about who she is and fall in love with her at the first time saw her sing in live performance.
When I watched this clip and listened to the great RVA reaction, I was as amazed as (almost) everyone else who listened. Hearing Floor singing this aria in such an intimate setting, in front of some of the very best Dutch singers and a national TV audience, just confirmed how great she is and showed that she is still underappreciated and even unknown among those not clued in to the metal genre. So, I got on the TV network's web site, and watched the whole show. Even though it is all in Dutch, it gives a lot of context to Floor's performance. It also shows the enthusiastic response from her peers (who also sing very well later in the show). Floor's performance was first. The show is at: www.avrotros.nl/beste-zangers/gemist/detail/item/beste-zangers-aflevering-1-24-08-2019/ Floor's pre-song interview starts at about 9:20, and the performance at about 11:00. If you have time, I think many will enjoy the entire 55-minute program.
Everyone, there is now a version of the entire program, captioned in English by Denise Hofs, available on TH-cam: th-cam.com/video/cBf4w7N0Bvk/w-d-xo.html Enjoy!!
There are a few things in my life that make me so happy that they take me to this sort of zen mode where nothing can bother me and it's just bliss all over. Listening to Floor is one of them. Sure, she makes me feel so much that I usually end up crying my eyes out, not because of sadness but just the depth of the emotion in her voice, but it's still pure happiness. Can't wait for the new Nightwish album they're recording now and then the tour after!
All I can say is: This should settle the Floor vs Tarja debate: Floor can sing opera just as well as she does rock or pop. Not only that, but she is just as strong a singer as Tarja is, operatically. So to say that Floor can't sing opera very well? Nonsense. This video is proof that she can sing opera, and does spectacularly.
@@bigboycombo6342 Yes she did indeed. She sang Puccini 's "O Mio Babbino Caro" on the Dutch show 'De Tiende van tijl' th-cam.com/video/Od_qcbw3f5Q/w-d-xo.html

And this performance by Floor, you just nail. I have watched the hole show (first of seven I believe), and Floor is awesome as always. Next show is tomorrow /Saturday, and I hope you will react to this one also Thank you for the reaction. Regards from Denmark 👍
The interesting thing about this, is this was the first time most of the other singers, had met or heard of Floor, by the end of the series Floor gets up to sing , they all went to prepare themselves to be Floored....
This is The Vilja Song from the 1905 operette ”The Merry Widow” by Franz Lehár. Floor was singing it to Henk Poort because his mother used to sing it. Therefore his happy face.
My goodness! I too, do not speak the language, but having seen and heard this performance, I feel like I have. I don't know anything about her history, but I feel like she must have had musical theater training somewhere. From her expressions, to her eyes, to her body movement, she told the story. Just beautiful!
She has had 4 years of rock-academy education and 2 of those did she spend at the conservatory for studying opera. That is how she knows how to use these styles and techniques. But just opera could not hold her attention. I am sure a few of her teachers at the conservatory were sad about that.
Vilja Lied English translation: But now let's do as we do at home Let's sing our ring dance rhyme About a fairy known whom at home we call Vilja! Once lived a Vilja, a maid of the woods, And hunter spotted her in rocky outcroppings! The young boy, who was Affected curiously by her presense, He looked and looked at the wood-maiden. And a shudder the boy had never known Took hold of him, Longingly he began quietly to sigh! Vilja, oh Vilja, you maid of the woods, Take me and let me be your dearest true love! Vilja, O Vilja what are you doing to me? Begs a lovesick man! The maid of the woods stretched her hand to him And pulled him into her rocky home. The boy nearly lost all his sense And so she loved him and kissed him as no earthly child. When she kissed him to his content She disappeared in an instant! The hunter waved goodbye only once before she vanished: Vilja, oh Vilja, you maid of the woods, Take me and let me be your dearest true love! Vilja, O Vilja what are you doing to me? Begs a lovesick man!
Thank you so much for listening to Floor again. I appreciate it so much. I knew you would love to see her doing something different. I see below everyone has told you the background of this video. You should hear her singing o mio babbino caro! Shes got a few versions online and shes amazing! Shes not flawless like a full time opera singner but she puts a lot of emotions to it and it ends up even better, imo.
I haven't had a female inspiration in a long time. Floor has been an fascinating inspiration....and YOU have been the " propeller" in all of this. You give her talent a validation and depth that has made her voice and range quite unique. Thank both of you and I also find Henk to be THE man that makes it all work! This is true ART.
Between all the headbanging and chugging guitar riffs, people seem to forget that Floor has extensive training in opera and musical theatre. It's OK, Floor keeps reminding everyone.
Thing with Floor is that she has been The Netherlands' best kept secret up until now. World famous in metal circles obviously as singer in the band Nightwish but terribly unknown in our (and her own) country. This show is finally giving her the exposure she deserves and will hopefully lead to more recognition of her amazing skills over here. Local girl from my hometown making it big, finally.
This song, Vilja Lied ("Vilja Song"} is from a German operetta called "Die lustige Witwe" ("The Merry Widow). In the 2nd act, Hanna (a rich widow) entertains her guests and sings this aria about a forest fairy who enchants hunters. This, the first of 8 episodes of this season of the Dutch program "Beste Zangers" ("Best Singers"), features seven Dutch musical performers including an opera/musical theater singer (featured in this episode), several pop singers with various different styles, a TH-cam cover artist and a certain queen of symphonic metal. In each episode at the end of the show, the featured singer being sung to picks their favorite performance.
Oh nice! I wasn't expecting this as a reaction. Her voice is so good, and I don't know if this show is a competition, but if it is I would be surprised if she doesn't win. As they release more of her performances, I would love if you reacted to the upcoming ones. As for my usual suggestion: Epica - Chasing the Dragon live at Retrospect
Each week, the singer of the night gets to pick a winner. In the final episode, an overall winner is announced. Floor did not win this first round by the way!
Yay was so happy you reacted to this! Love your stuff. Every time I see a new amazing vocal performance my first reaction is always oooo RVA would like this 😂 x
You should also react to her other songs on the show so far. "Mama" in which shes singing in dutch for the first time and "Qué Se Sienta" in which shes singing in Spanish for the first time.
Dear miss.. Rrrreeeebecca.. I dont know if in any way I can let you realise how you've made my day or even month maybe. Never expected my request would come through between all these comments. Thank you very very much and lots of love, energy and hugs for you. Floor is amazing, combining it with you is just heavenly. Great job!!!! and again I hope I get the message threw to you that you know you really get to people, make them happy by being your amazing, energetic, funny self!
This is indeed from a Dutch show called Beste Zangers (best singers). Each season a couple of well known, sometimes less known, singers from the Netherlands fly off to Ibiza to record this programme. Each week one singer in particular is in the spotlight and the others sing a song from their repertoire. It is not a competition by any means. During this clip it was Henk Poort's week. As people have said, he is an opera singer. Each other singer besides him then performs a song in his repertoire (or a song that has a lot of meaning). Floor is of course a metal singer, so this aria was a mix of her musical style and the operatic style inherent of the song. Also, I believe this is the first time a metal singer is included in this programme, or on any other mainstream TV show in the Netherlands. As a country, the Netherlands barely recognises her metal musicians. The Dutch who don't listen to metal generally have never heard of Floor Jansen.
Floor is currently recording the newest Nightwish album NOW, and I REALLY hope Tuomas lets her use her operatic vocal style a little more somewhere in the album.
Yeah, Tuomas has always been really picky about operatic vocals. But jokes aside, Floor does not want to an opera singer. She says opera does not "connect" with her. She can do it, but it's not her own genre.
Beautiful rendition as always from none other than Floor Jansen 😊 (I mean, were we expecting anything else?) Also, I don't think you pause at wrong times Rebbecca :) Gotta talk about it as it happens, more in depth info with that kind of method. And I don't know if you knew or maybe you've already covered this one and I just forgot but Floor also sang "Omio Babino Caro" (I hope I spelled that right.) On some other show. She nailed that song imo.
she saw him perform als the phantom as a 13 year old. sang the music for weeks after, he was somewhat of her idol and inspiration. She told him that just before she started singing. His mother used to sing it, so the song means a lot to him. and as i understand he also admires her music and singing in return. ;-)
Actually, no. I love the more powerful and energetic metal oriented style Floor brings to the band, it's cool to have some small operatic moments here and there, but not complete songs. This is a different Nightwish era with a different sound.
Your speaking for yourself cause i got bored of the old nw because it was only oparatic. Yes it was beautifull but also always the same sound with floor i'm impressed everytime🤟
I meant small parts in a song, not a complete song. But I wish to hear more of it. Why not? I love all Floor vocals. She's incredible! The best vocalist NW has ever had. I agree with u. Full operatic is boring I know. That's why I love Floor because she can sing everything u want :)
"De Beste Zangers van Nederland" is a Dutch televisionprogram. The setting is quite simpel. 7 Dutch singers come together in a resort. All singers have a different musical background and this year it is the first time metal is in the show with Floor. Each episode there is another singer the centre of attention, this first episode it was Henk Poort, an opera- and musicalstar in the Netherlands. The other singers sing all a song that is on his (let's say) playlist. Eighter he did sing or write it himself eighter it is a song, that means a lot to him. In this episode all other singers did sing for him and Floor did this classical aria (The Vilja song is an aria from Franz Lehar) for him, but ofcourse, she changed it a bit, to show where she comes from. She sings it in German. it is a cosy setting, because the audience are just the host and the other singers. All singers sing with the same musicians and all is live performence. You could see the other singers were at least suprised, they didn't expect this at all. There will be an episode in wich Floor is the central guest and the other singers, including Henk Poort will do a song for Floor. That can be a Nightwishsong or After Forever or Revamp. But it can also be just a song that Floor covered before, like Heart's Alone or a song that means a lot to Floor.
I love this reaction so so so much!! The "hard R sound" is actually a common thing in Dutch language (Floor's native language). Also, you should really check out Samantha Steenwijk's performance on Beste Zangers! She's on the same season as Floor and she's an amazing singer!! She surprised everyone with her performance, she's so talented. Lots of love from the Netherlands, keep up the amazing work!!❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Dutch people, at least from the northern part of the country, are (mostly) able to do the tongue trill. We pronounce the "r" like the Scots do. It makes for wonderful singing, particularly in opera. Thank you for your lovely comments.
I'm telling ya, there's something in the water there in Finland. Simone Simones Sharon Den Adel Floor Jansen Tarja Turunen All are Dutch, it's not just a coincidence.

@@jimmyboy131 Tarja actually is Finnish so the Finland part is partially correct, but they aren't all Dutch. The interesting thing about Floor and Nightwish is that they didn't originally share a common language, she had to move to Finland and learn Finnish to better communicate with the band.

Nice reaction, Rebecca. I don’t know what to say but I really felt like I needed to comment anyway. This is a lovely little performance by Floor. I’m not even much of an opera fan but she sounded great. The emotion she can generate continually amazes me. And gets to me as well.
Floor is an incredible singer and a beautiful lady. Can't wait for the next Nightwish Album as well .. Awesome and thanks ..
Spring next year, so we have to wait :)
She is a treasure to the planet! I can't even speak 4 languages let alone sing songs so masterfully in 4 languages! I have heard her sing in English, German, Swedish, and Spanish! My word what a gift she has! 🤘😇🤘
When has she sung in Swedish?
She sang in Dutch, not Swedish.
She has also sung in Finnish 😊
dont forget dutch.
Singers, tho, don't actually have to know the *language*. It's more about learning the sounds that make the language stand out of the crowd.
I love her light tone that is just beautiful :)
"I think he's in love with her" uh, who isn't?
I was going to comment the exact same thing - I've got the biggest girl crush I thought possible!
She is a fan of him
From the story of this song is talk about a men who courious and fall in love with the girl(Vilja) at the first sight. So basically Floor Jansen is a real life Vilja because most of peoples been courious about who she is and fall in love with her at the first time saw her sing in live performance.
“He is in love with her.” Erm, who isn’t! Floor is presence and charisma personified!
Floor and his vocal range is amazing ❤️💞🙌
Her not his.😄
The simultaneous discovery of you and Nightwish has been one of the most distinct findings of my life. You both bring smiles and tears and joy.
Wow!!💛
I can't wait to see you react to Floor Jansen - Mama | Beste Zangers 2019. I love your reactions, Rebecca!
Do it Rebecca!!
This would be amazing, such a different style compared to this.
Yaassss!!!
Definitely need this to happen!!!
The show is at:
www.avrotros.nl/beste-zangers/gemist/detail/item/beste-zangers-aflevering-1-24-08-2019/
Floor's pre-song interview starts at about 9:20, and the performance at about 11:00. If you have time, I think many will enjoy the entire 55-minute program.
Everyone, there is now a version of the entire program, captioned in English by
Denise Hofs, available on TH-cam:

Enjoy!!
Floor is a treasure, she's a beautiful and talented human.
yes rebecca our dutch pride😍
It's like watching mortals in the presence of a goddess.
She has done a few operas before.
@@bigboycombo6342 Yes she did indeed. She sang Puccini 's "O Mio Babbino Caro" on the Dutch show 'De Tiende van tijl' th-cam.com/video/Od_qcbw3f5Q/w-d-xo.html
I think Tarja's timbre is what people like better about her soprano.
@@khosani1726 Probably. As Tarja has a more "classic" soprano sound, many who are looking more for that will lean towards preferring her voice. I myself, love both.
Nonsense, lol.
Aaaah yesssss!!! Emotions all over the place ✌️🤣😭 #shiverfest #lovethisprogram #lovefloorjansen #floorgasm #lovehenkpoort
#besthashtagqueen🌈💜
I could listen to her sing anything.
Floor has sang already a phonebook :) Google it 😍
That was my impression too! He's looking at her with love in his eyes and its the same in every single song she is singing.
this is not just talent this is years and years off hard work.
You are so into music which is awesome and this makes watching your reviews even better.
You need to react to her latest song from the show - Qu Se Siente!
Yaaaaaaaaaass!!!
101chamberlain she needs to hear Henk sing The Sound of Silence.
mama!!!!!!
Ohh I simply love your reactions. No matter what, you just disappear into the music, and explains the techniques and details in a way that only you can do - also your own samples are necessary, so please keep on doing your superb reactions. And this performance by Floor, you just nail. I have watched the hole show (first of seven I believe), and Floor is awesome as always. Next show is tomorrow /Saturday, and I hope you will react to this one also
Thank you for the reaction.
Regards from Denmark
👍
Am I the only one who realised how well and amazingly Rebecca was singing whilst she had headphones on listening to her reaction video...😱😱❤️
Just you 🤣♥️
Rebecca Vocal Athlete I disagree!! ❤️❤️
Rebecca Vocal Athlete amazing!!❤️
I keep coming back to watch this reaction, because it’s excellent 😅
Thank you Rebecca!
@@ronaldboers8061 Great information! Thank you. I hope you have a wonderful evening.
I was hoping for this. 😀❤
I saw the TV show and thought RVA must see/hear this.
Vilja Lied English translation:
But now let's do as we do at home
Let's sing our ring dance rhyme
About a fairy known whom
at home we call Vilja!
Once lived a Vilja, a maid of the woods,
And hunter spotted her in rocky outcroppings!
The young boy, who was
Affected curiously by her presense,
He looked and looked
at the wood-maiden.
And a shudder the boy had never known
Took hold of him,
Longingly he began quietly to sigh!
Vilja, oh Vilja, you maid of the woods,
Take me and let me
be your dearest true love!
Vilja, O Vilja what are you doing to me?
Begs a lovesick man!
The maid of the woods stretched
her hand to him
And pulled him into her rocky home.
The boy nearly lost all his sense
And so she loved him and kissed him as no earthly child.
When she kissed him to his content
She disappeared in an instant!
The hunter waved goodbye only once before she vanished:
Vilja, oh Vilja, you maid of the woods,
Take me and let me
be your dearest true love!
Vilja, O Vilja what are you doing to me?
Begs a lovesick man!
She is a goddess. Brilliant singing. Can´t await it to see her and Nightwish on the next tour.
Thank you so much for listening to Floor again. I appreciate it so much. I knew you would love to see her doing something different. I see below everyone has told you the background of this video. I can't wait to see more. :-)
I see where we both need to live life to the fullest and take care of ourselves.......
Indeed lass. Good tae see ya here. Hope your back is on the mend.
Goosebumps at times, god i love music and how powerful it can evoke emotion... all the emotions. Thank you Rebecca Canada loves you. 👈🙏 🍁
Best holistic drug my friend England loves you
last night it was floor's turn to be the centre of attention at beste zangers 2019 react to tim akkermans singing nemo, emma heesters singing strong and henk poort singing sound of silence ,you aint gonna be dissapointed
How do we explain feelings , the emotions running through our vains when something or someone touches us, in our hearts. Floor ... beautiful as always! Thanks Rebecca 💞
You should hear her singing o mio babbino caro! Shes got a few versions online and shes amazing! Shes not flawless like a full time opera singner but she puts a lot of emotions to it and it ends up even better, imo.
Thank You Coach so much, for this reaction. Oh Becca❤. Oh Floor ❤. So so Beautiful!
Hello darling, thanks for using my link. I knew you would love it, you are very welcome. Great reaction by the way ;)
I haven't had a female inspiration in a long time. Floor has been an fascinating inspiration....and YOU have been the " propeller" in all of this. You give her talent a validation and depth that has made her voice and range quite unique. Thank both of you and I also find Henk to be THE man that makes it all work! This is true ART.
When Rebbeca sang "Time to say goodbye" , my whole body trembled. Gifted!
Damn I wish was there. Simply beautiful.
Not a competition, but a show where singers sing each other's songs, which means we'll have a Floor night as well! 😊
@@SnakeM98 Oh okay, that's very interesting. I'll check out more of the performances from the show.
ah yes! finally someone recommends some epica. lovely. i feel like ive been the only one doing that recently. 🙂
100% yes for some reason no one reacts to this song
Thanks so much appreciate it 🤘🔥
Do a reaction to Floor Jansen - Mama | Beste Zangers 2019
. It really shows her voice off.
Yes! Rebecca has to do this!
Yes! Do it!
At 1:14 you're describing the symptoms of a typical Floorgasm. This is just... going to stay. You may embrace it an roll with it, or say nothing ;)
If it last for more than 4 hours consult a physician.
Floor is exquisite.✨😍💯
Floor is currently recording the newest Nightwish album NOW, and I REALLY hope Tuomas lets her use her operatic vocal style a little more somewhere in the album.
Yeah, Tuomas has always been really picky about operatic vocals.
But jokes aside, Floor does not want to an opera singer. She says opera does not "connect" with her. She can do it, but it's not her own genre.
Beautiful rendition as always from none other than Floor Jansen 😊 (I mean, were we expecting anything else?)
Also, I don't think you pause at wrong times Rebbecca :) Gotta talk about it as it happens, more in depth info with that kind of method.
And I don't know if you knew or maybe you've already covered this one and I just forgot but Floor also sang "Omio Babino Caro" (I hope I spelled that right.) On some other show. She nailed that song imo.
She sing for the older guy. This is Hank Poort, the dutch voice of the phantom in "the phantom of the opera".
So I've understand ^^
she saw him perform als the phantom as a 13 year old. sang the music for weeks after, he was somewhat of her idol and inspiration.
She told him that just before she started singing.
His mother used to sing it, so the song means a lot to him.
and as i understand he also admires her music and singing in return. ;-)
One of my friends use the term "Floorgasm" to describe what she make you feel with her gifted voice. 😍😅🤭
5:34 we all are, Rebecca. We all are.
I love her voice 💖
And I really like your reactions, thank you. 🙏
A big hug from Brazil.
All of us Nightwish fans are expecting that style in new Nightwish songs! I hope the new album has more operatic vocals!
Well thats simply not true, lmao.
On the contrary, I expect the opposite, no operatic singing outside small bits in songs.
But it can also be just a song that Floor covered before, like Heart's Alone or a song that means a lot to Floor.
last week she sung "mama", you might want to react to that one as well, it was wonderful!!
^^^^THIS!!!^^^^ She was awesome!
Lots of love from the Netherlands, keep up the amazing work!!❤🧡💛💚💙💜
We all are in love with her, how couldn't we?
Rebecca you crack me up but at the same time you have great breakdowns of techniques and performances...🤩
I've never watched a room of people fall in love with one woman so quickly XD
Hearing Floor singing in German, just blew my mind 🤯👏🏻🙌🏻🔥wow a Floorgasm indeed🎆🎇👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🔥🔥🔥
The Callas of metal
Dutch people, at least from the northern part of the country, are (mostly) able to do the tongue trill. We pronounce the "r" like the Scots do. It makes for wonderful singing, particularly in opera. Thank you for your lovely comments.
All nightwish singers have brought something unique and amazing but where do they find them are they grow specially 🐈🤔
I'm telling ya, there's something in the water there in Finland.
Simone Simones
Sharon Den Adel
Floor Jansen
Tarja Turunen
All are Dutch, it's not just a coincidence.
@@CookBoss88 Netherlands, but your point still stands. Either that or there's a hidden portal that pasty-skinned and unkempt scientists/wizards workout some forbidden arcane incantation, which opens the portal for the briefest of moments. Just enough time for some other-wordly entity to step through. That's probably where they come from.
@@jimmyboy131 Tarja actually is Finnish so the Finland part is partially correct, but they aren't all Dutch. The interesting thing about Floor and Nightwish is that they didn't originally share a common language, she had to move to Finland and learn Finnish to better communicate with the band.
@@CookBoss88 Tarja is Finnish. She went to school with Tuomas. :-)
