While your lips are still red is also great song to hear Marco' s singing... Thank you Rebecca for this awesome reaction.. Love it how you live along The music... Greetings from Finland 😘
Yes, what all these folks said... The Islander, While Your Lips Are Still Red, the Pink Floyd cover from End of an Era... and also to hear Marco's other side, he also does classical opera. Floor has transformed Nightwish into a true masterpiece. Seeing her with Nightwish live was truly life changing. The Greatest Show on Earth for sure...
Nightwish with Tarja was a masterpiece. Imaginaerum was a masterpiece. EFMB goes without saying. @@nestrior7733 I'm a nightwish's fan from 2005. I' see all concert with Tarja, Annette a now with floor. I love nightwish first for music and lyrics, then for singer. The only concert that I enjoyed with Tarja was End of an era, but in general, I never liked Tarja when she sang live. Idem for Anette, live she didn't fit the older songs of nightwish. With Floor, instead, Nightwish are reborn most stronger than before. Floor sing ALL the songs with her sensibility and passion like nobody of the oter two had never did. She is fantastic. Ther is any songs that I don't like singed by her, because she has the real nightwish's spirit. This Nightwish is a real Masterpiece. Actually, one of the best group in the world. Now, in my mp3 player, I listen to the songs recorded by concert with Floor. Ghost love score in waken 2013 is absolutely much better than the original with Tarja tha I listened to hundread of times. If you don't like Floor, go to listen to tarja. We don't care. We enjoy with this fantastic singer. I don't change Floor with Tarja for notihng in the world. Bye.
Finally!!!! It's about time someone who actually does good quality reactions checked out this masterpiece. Alternate title ... the greatest song on earth!!! No song has ever blown me away quite like this does.
@@ArturoPerez-si2xk and yet this band has yet to be even nominated for or even considered for a Grammy award and a band like Greta Van Fleet who is a new very young American rock band gets 4 Grammy nominations and wins 1. Being creative in songwriting doesn't count with the Grammys but totally sounding like a classic rock band from the 1970s gets a Grammy and 4 Grammy nominations?
THIS. "We Were Here" gets me teary eyed every time(?!!) I listen to this. Honestly more than any performance in my 35 year musical journey. I might get chills from an epic song for few times but this is something else. This is it. 11/10.
I was fortunate enough to catch them in 2016, and it dawned on me by the 2nd one the double meaning, both the meaning in the song, and a whole building of people united in 3 simple words, joined in the incredible shared experience. It still sends shivers up my spine in the memory.
It's twenty minutes of everything that Nightwish are, musically, and such a treat to hear live - especially during The Toolmaker, when you have a whole arena roaring out "WE WERE HERE" 😁
Great video as always Rebecca. Marco is the bassist who was singing in this song, Tuomas is the Keyboardist who writes nearly every song. Also If you liked the "vocal slide" Floor did in this song you need to see Romanticide. Floor does an insane slide spanning several octaves in that song, and I would love to hear the opinion of someone who really knows what they are talking about. I think it is Romanticide (Official live video) from Nuclear Blast Records.
Imaginaerum with Annette is actually probably their best album ever! Super imaginative, atmospheric, and varied. Makes really fantastic use of her voice.
I thought you wouldn't react to Nightwish again. I'm glad you're back to them. Please don't stop reacting to their songs and do it once in a while. I'm sure you've seen that Nightwish fans are so active and passionate and they will always support your reactions to their beloved band. My suggestion for the next reaction is "High Hopes". It's a Pink Floyd Cover song and "Marco" is the lead singer this time. I like to hear your analysis of his voice.
Every later Nightwish album has a flagship, usually the longest song of the album but usually not the one named like the Album, and usually not one that is published as a single either. Rebecca did react to 3 of those so far, Ghost Love Score from Once, The Poet and the Pendulum from Dark Passion Play, and now The Greatest Show on Earth from Endless Forms Most Beautiful. So to at least complete the last 4 albums i would recommend Song of Myself from Imaginaerum. th-cam.com/video/lQu5QjidHWg/w-d-xo.html
Marco is amazing having recovered from surgery on his vocal cords that after much work and rehab only cost him his high falsetto sound. You really have to be in awe how he worked on his voice to get it back to the point it is at!!!!
Never pushed the "like" button so fast XD Thank you Rebecca! Everything about this band is a pure art. P.S. Don't forget to listen to "Romanticide" from Wacken 2013. You'll have a great experience with that song ;)
I watched this performance for the first time today. I never heard this song. I absolutely loved it, it was very epic, and theatrical, and had many layers to it. I'm new to Nightwish. I have only been listening for a few months now. I am in love with Floor, she is amazing beyond words, and just the whole band is EPIC. My first Nightwish song was Ghost Love Score, and it is my favorite song so far, Closely followed by The Poet and the Pendulum. In just a few months, they have become one of my top 3 favorite bands. That is an insane feat lol.
Okay. Im going to admit it. It's 2:35 am while I'm watching this. I have NEVER heard of this band and I'm glad my curious mind brought me here. THEY 👏ARE 👏 FUCKING 👏 AMAZEBALLS 👏👏👏 and I never thought I would enjoy something like this. I love them!
Hope you enjoy lots of other songs from them! The live recordings are amazing, Wacken 2013, Tampere 2015, Buenos Aires... Then there is Floors solo work... Her re-introduction to her homeland on "Beste Zangers" 2019!
There's more to this song that meets the eye initially. Yes, it is a grand and majestic piece of music but, it is also a statement. If you look up the lyrics, they make some references that are fairly obtuse to anyone who isn't an evolutionary biologist. That is the theme of the entire album, in fact, which is named 'Endless Forms Most Beautiful', directly quoting Charles Darwin's most famous work "On the Origin of Species". This song's intro and outro are narrated by Prof. Richard Dawkins, an evolutionary biologist and science advocate (fun fact: they had him do his bits on stage at the Wembley show). The song itself is named directly after one of his books. The lyrics of the song cover the history of life on our planet and make references to major breakthroughs in evolutionary biology. Eventually it culminates into this spoken bit in the outro: "We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born The potential people who could have been here in my place But who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Sahara Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA So massively exceeds the set of actual people In the teeth of those stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds How dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state From which the vast majority have never stirred?" The message of the song being: there's an unfathomable number of people who could've resulted from your parents' DNA and here you are. We should accept our place in the grand cycle of life and species, and work towards greatness, individual and collective. We owe it to the rest of humanity, born and unborn, to live up to this mind-bogglingly good fortune that have been given, we were here.
We have goth Metal, Symphonic Metal, Horror Metal and now we even have Science Metal =p My friend is hyped about the theme of this album, I can't really share it. I do love the books from Dawkins. You have to have read at least one of them.
Tuomas Holopainen is a genius, his compositions are masterpieces, Nightwish albums "Whismaster", "Once", "Oceansborn", "Over the hills and far away", "Century child", "Dark Passion play", "Imaginarium", "Angels Fall first", etc. Other bands like "Auri", "Eternal tears of sorrow", and "The Life and time of Scrooge" 🎶🎧😊💓
I love how you react to Nightwish, your reactions/emotions are so pure! Nightwish is simply the best band of all because of the talent of everyone, the message of their lyrics and the pure magical impact on the listener's feelings
Rebecca, I would actually like to thank you for helping me discover (or rather re-discover) Nightwish. I was always aware that this band existed, but barely paid any attention to them. It was not until I saw your reaction to Floor that I truly *heard* them. That was purely by accident - I just stumbled upon your reaction to Nothing but thieves (one of my favourite bands), loved that video and decided to check out your reaction to Ghost Love Score. Welp, I was never the same after hearing her singing. Now you and Floor are my favourite ladies. Lot of love from Russia.
Oh yes, me too... knowing this band since they started 1996, I am from Finland like the band, but I really falling in love with them like a year ago 🙂❤🇫🇮👍
This song sadly never gained widespread acclaim, but I wish that in the future when all the mediocre songs from our time have been forgotten, this song will be appreciated by the people.
I'm sure this band will be appreciated for a very long time. 20 years from now, they will be considered a classic band, like Queen or Pink Floyd is to us now.
Well, when life inevitably loses The Game, there will still be so many songs that was never sung, or that even existed. This song has already won, it was here.
I've been a big fan of Nightwish for many years - I've never seen anything quite like it anywhere. They're extremely talented and one heck of a special band. This song is SO beautiful - indeed, it's evoking STRONG emotions - almost unreal at times.
I'm about 99% certain that, at this point, you're doing these Nightwish videos as an excuse to jam to them. No complaints here. Watching you get absorbed in the music is extremely entertaining. Plus, Nightwish.
Unless I misremember he's playing Uillean Pipes rather than Scottish Bagpipes. I really love the lyrics for this song in particular the line 'Scions of the Devonian sea', this is very significant as during the Devonian era is when it's believed that the first vertrebrates took their first steps on land. Lots of lines in the song refer to evolution in general like 'Lucy of the Afar' refering to a significant archeological find of what is believed to be an early ancestor or ours as a human-like ape. It's like a giant celebration of life in itself
The Great Hieland Pipes will murder your ears in even moderate proximity; they were designed to carry miles over the bogs. Uillean Pipes were made to be played indoors and are, indeed, quieter and less harsh.
You're right, there's a lot of references to evolution here, also the line 'Enter LUCA' which stands for Last Universal Common Ancestor, so basically the start of life. Brilliant lyrics!
I like how she asks everyone to sing along and then promptly chooses a key that guarantees that 99% of the semi drunk audience won't be able to hit but WILL hurt the day after if they try!
I could hit it when I went to see them but my voice noped on me the next day. I have training as a soprano and I can sing Nightwish songs mostly well but this is one that I struggle with. 😂
And you expect a goddess to know the limitations of mere mortals? 😂 But seriously, Floor makes it look like that sort of singing is second nature for her, like breathing.
This is my favorite song of any genre, era. Epic is downplaying it. And not knowing Dawkins had 3 excerpts blew me away. The 4 "We were here!" refrains often brings me to tears.
We were here. This song never ceases to make me emotional and inspired at the same time... Nightwish (and especially Floor) inspired me to start singing "seriously" and honestly it's been the best decision I ever made. I'm even starting a band with my classmates after I finally decided to get out of my comfort zone and start doing the things I want to do. #neverstopsinging
I'll be honest. I don't know why but your reaction made me drop a tear and almost cry although I am a tough guy. You've reminded me how much I love these guys and our metal goddess. ❤
I just wanted to say. As a huge Nightwish fan, who has watched many other folks react to Nightwish videos. I think I like yours the best. Nightwish performances are so intense that I feel so many folks are only able to focus on one thing. Some focus on the vocals, missing on the genius of the instrumentals. Truly every member is a genius in their own right at what they do, and together they take us on a journey with them like no other band I've ever experienced. You seem to be able to literally take every aspect in both separately and yet simultaneously, where I have to listen to something sometimes 5 or 6 times before I catch so many of the nuances.
The Greatest Show on Earth is about the history of Earth and life itself. It has 5 sections: 1. Four Point Six (ends with the first spoken part by Richard Dawkins) - Earth as an empty planet, all rocks, lava etc. and the first life, the title refers to the estimated age of Earth, 4.6 billion years. 2. Life (begins when the guitars kick in, ends with the break after the drum solo) - evolution and life, references to LUCA (Last Universal Common Ancestor), the Devonian era (also known as the Age of Fish, when amphibians started evolving to go on land), the Goldilock Zone (the ideal distance from the Sun, which allows water to exist in a liquid state) etc. 3. The Toolmaker (starts with Floor's high notes and the primate grunting, ends with the "We were here" segment) - humans enter the stage, references to Lucy (the primate that seems to be our earliest ancestor), migration out of Africa, atomic bombs etc. and there are musical snippets from other musicians and composers, such as Bach, Mozart and Metallica (just before the second chorus you can hear the riff from Enter Sandman) 4. The Understanding (the two spoken parts during the outro of the show) - quotes by UNWEAVING THE RAINBOW by Richard Dawkins and ON THE ORIGIN OF THE SPECIES by Charles Darwin, narrated by Dawkins. 5. Sea Worn Driftwood - not that present here, but it is the soundscape after the last spoken part, with animal and ocean sounds to play it out.
I have always liked how this song fits ALL of human history, including its theoretical destruction at its own hands, into one segment. That truly shows how that, even as a species, we will come and go in the blink of an eye in relation to the rest of the universe.
It is a brilliant story about the evolution THEORY. A song I enjoy a lot every time I listen to it, though i do not subscribe to/agree with the theory.
She was "narrating" those sections near the beginning. And yes, she is VERY expressive during her singing, facial expressions and body movements, giving visual aid to the lyrics.
I liked the video as soon as I clicked on it because I knew I'd love your reaction. As always, you delivered. Such a great band, truly. I'd love to watch all of their shows with you and experience it all for the first time again vicariously. \m/.
This post may be lost just by age, but I've watched your videos for a while now. And can say I love the way you seemed, almost at loss for words on this. They, Nightwish, are my new favorite band. The presentation to the vocals, they have it all.
Floor is a goddess. I can't think of any better vocalist, male or female, than her. Seeing them live is a truly spiritual experience, there's no other way to describe it. When they came close to my town, during the "We Were Here" bit, over half the crowd was in tears from the overwhelming emotion of the moment. It was as if we were shouting to the universe, "We may not be here long, but WE WERE HERE!" The entire crowd, singing/screaming to the heavens, the band leading us into bliss.
@Jacques Malan without a second thought, zero hesitation. I've seen them both on the same stage, Floor is superior both in skill and showmanship (Tara is great, don't get it twisted, but Floor is absolutely better).
Fair enough, I feel it's more of a direct comparison since Floor is also classically trained. If you've not seen her perform Greatest Show on Earth, I highly recommend it.
@Jacques Malan Dickinson is one of the best male vocalists alive today. Looking forward to seeing them this summer. You are right, it's a meaningless battle. Tarja brought me into Nightwish, Floor keeps me there. If you've never seen them live, I tell you, it's transcendent.
The song is amazing, epic, incredible.. But, not gonna lie, some of the best parts are just seeing Floor being expressive and emotive... and the visceral experience of watching her frantically head-banging during the instrumental breaks.
I haven’t had the chance to see them live yet, but they certainly know how to put on a hell of a show. Every element is there, and I know most of the larger moments are planned but they just gel so well together that nothing ever seems forced or awkward. They enjoy playing as much as the fans enjoy watching them do it. I am looking forward to seeing them live!
just stopped by to watch this video again while hoping there'll be some more Nightwish videos to see soon. So many good ones to go still. I'll wait... :)
Im trying to get some work done but i cant stop watching this. I love Nightwish and watching you saying this is a masterpiece makes me say " yes!"!!! right?!!!
You were so full of joy when you joined them in singing "We Were Here", it's amazing how deeply you feel music. Thank you for sharing your passion for music with us! You do so much for music when you invite us to appreciate a new piece with you.
Your reactions are always great, and your passion for music is so fun to see. This was a pleasant surprise, given the song's length, but I'm glad you did it. Next time they're in the UK, you should go with your friend Dave :). (I think that was his name). Although you won't get quite as big a production as this show, you get a better one that we get over here in the US...they're still only playing 2000 seat venues here, for the most part. On the plus side, I was no more than 10' away from Floor when I saw them in Baltimore last year, so there is that :). She put SO much into the music for the entire set, it's just amazing to watch, and you certainly picked up on it just from seeing little snippets of her facial expressions & gestures in the video.
@@johns20901 ah, cool. I was in the front row, right at Marco's feet. At one point Empuu walked over, I screamed his name and threw epic horns, so he handed me a pick :).
I already enjoyed Nightwish before I ever watched your videos, but your commentary really made me aware of the artistry and skill behind the vocals. It makes me appreciate just how good it is. I was always a fan of Tarja because that's the vocalist that was in the band during my teens. After she left I never really gave the new material a chance. However, I watched your reactions to Floor a few months ago and actual binged the newer music for like three months! Thank you for opening my eyes to all this greatness! :)
Wow once again. I love how it’s all about the voices and instruments and and storytelling. I mean not dances in sight. And I also enjoy your reactions and the technical parts what you say about when Floor is singing.
Floor’s voice is like a breath of fresh in this- gives me chills along with the rest of the song! Not to mention, she never fails to impress with the versality and emotion in the different styles she can sing!

I'm a Finn, and You have made me found Nightwish's excellency again. I remember the Wishmaster -tour opening gig at the Ice Hall of Kitee (a few thousand people village)...and for what they have become today. Floor Jansen is the best thing ever happened to NW. But still, I want to give my words to You my dear Rebecca. I just love the way You take these songs, and not just listen, but You live these songs...You feel these songs. I have looked Your videos for a few weeks now, and I have laughed with (and to) You, I have wept tears with You...and felt so many great things. Because I have stopped to LISTEN. And You are also there beside, with those feelings I can comprehend. Keep up darling, that natural child...keep up that smile of Yours and just like You are. Sensory overload… Nightwish style. The band that can call it “The Greatest Show on Earth” and deliver on all points…incredible
The title can put people off, they didn't mean it that way, it's the title from a Richard Dawkins book, given to Tuomas by Troy as inspiration. "The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution" is a 2009 book by British biologist Richard Dawkins, which was released on 3 September 2009 in the UK. Charles Darwin quote: "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" was the title for the album. "On the Origin of Species" is considered to be the foundation of evolutionary biology; it was published in 1859. An Easter Egg from Tuomas: Mrs "Do-as-you-would-be-done-by"? A childhood reference by Tuomas! "The Water-Babies, A Fairy Tale for a Land Baby"
@@stpfs9281point taken👍 I should have posted “They band that can call it “The Greatest Show on Earth” and deliver on all points both artistic and philosophical”

Not wearing a flag. Her dress is designed to represent the Helix which is part of the scientific meaning behind this entire album - creation of the universe..... :-)

A wonderful song and a great review, you are so witty and charming. I love your random voice changes (accents, singing etc) and your genuine emotional connection to the music. You do some of the best reactions on TH-cam. Keep it up!
Rebecca, I highly recommend you listen to the studio version of this album with nothing to see but the lyrics; no distractions. The music itself is stunning, but when you know the lyrics, everything comes together even more! *…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…* The lyrics tie into the feeling you expressed here.
It's quite difficult to held back with the headbanging, isn't it? Gods its so beautiful, haunting, epic and mindblowing.. i would bawl my eyes out on a Nightwish show, because its so beautiful and energetic, I couldnt take it.
Well I know you just did Nightwish but maybe somewhere down the road I hope you react to Nightwish's cover of High Hopes by Pink Floyd, please and thanks. Stay awesome!
Just want to clarify that the "bagpipe" is actually called uillean pipes and is a variation of bagpipes with the difference being that on uillean pipes instead of blowing with your mouth you pump the air with your elbow. It also has a lot softer tone to a standard bagpipe. And as the multi-instrumentalist of Nightwish Troy Donockley said, you have slightly crazy to play them as it is a really difficult instrument to play. Also you should listen to the studio version of this song too as to me at least the "we were here" part is way more spectacular and always gives me chills.
"How lucky we are to be born" which is why it's such a tragedy that people fall into the ruts of depression and believe that they would be better off dead, or wishing they had never been born.
Actually the idea that Dawkins expresses when he talks about how lucky we are to be born is what always prevented me of even seriously considering suicide when I went through a 2 year depression. That saved me.

Bye.
Nightwish has the power to reach and trigger emotions. Amazing musicians - all of them!
I'm a simple man. I see Rebecca and Nightwish, I press like.
Yeh Me Too...Floor is awesome and Bec's knows it, that's why I love watching the reaction.
Great to see Appreciation from Bec's
I know the feeling 😉
It is a wonderfull combination, it watch it over and over again.
Rebecca is so real and honest, and also very beautiful with a good sense of humor.

Finally!!!! It's about time someone who actually does good quality reactions checked out this masterpiece. Alternate title ... the greatest song on earth!!!
No song has ever blown me away quite like this does.
Can't agree more with you! For me is the best song ever made right now. Maybe before was Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, but this come from another Galaxy
@@ArturoPerez-si2xk and yet this band has yet to be even nominated for or even considered for a Grammy award and a band like Greta Van Fleet who is a new very young American rock band gets 4 Grammy nominations and wins 1. @@rickleblanc8900 he must meant, "get Floored".
FINALLY it’s here!!!! Your reaction to this freakin’ MASTERPIECE ❤️❤️❤️
Tuomas considers this song his masterpiece, and for good reason
It's twenty minutes of everything that Nightwish are, musically, and such a treat to hear live - especially during The Toolmaker, when you have a whole arena roaring out "WE WERE HERE" 😁
It'll be interesting to see if the album they just finished recording manages to top it
My guess is that Tuomas will take the next album to the next level from Endless Forms Most Beautiful - Space...
Until he writes the next one ;)
Tuomas actually has a few masterpieces. I wonder if he knows that.
Oh man, romanticize. That's one I just can't get enough of. That last slide at the end....pure perfection!
Oh ya, that slide goes way up there. Couldn't believe she could reach such a high pitch. What power, what control !
I hadn't listened to any Nightwish since Tarja left but, man...this "new" lead singer is incredible!
As long as Tuomas is writing the songs, everything us great.
@@MaryArts The band is superb but Tuomas is the genius/mastermind of it all !
Imaginaerum with Annette is actually probably their best album ever! Super imaginative, atmospheric, and varied. Makes really fantastic use of her voice.
@@LoneIgadzra Anette sucked live though. You really can't deny it...
This is Tuomas' masterpiece. Such a fantastic Song. And Floor's voice... Saw this song live, It's just great...
I want to hear her react to Romanticide, that duet... High Hopes though is freaking amazing and that would be a thing to behold.

Marco is amazing having recovered from surgery on his vocal cords that after much work and rehab only cost him his high falsetto sound. You really have to be in awe how he worked on his voice to get it back to the point it is at!!!!
@@jmetallover I had no idea he went through that surgery, do you know when was that?

Refreshing seeing someone genuine and fun, best reactions on TH-cam.
Couldn't agree with you more on your top songs...they're both incredible
Eventually it culminates into this spoken bit in the outro:
"We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones
Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born
The potential people who could have been here in my place
But who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Sahara
Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton
We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA
So massively exceeds the set of actual people
In the teeth of those stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here
We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds
How dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state
From which the vast majority have never stirred?"
The message of the song being: there's an unfathomable number of people who could've resulted from your parents' DNA and here you are.
We should accept our place in the grand cycle of life and species, and work towards greatness, individual and collective.
We owe it to the rest of humanity, born and unborn, to live up to this mind-bogglingly good fortune that have been given, we were here.
Oh my, that is so deep and sanguine at the same time. I really adore your interpretation of this song.
Wow. I loved this. Needed this. Thank you very much.
We have goth Metal, Symphonic Metal, Horror Metal and now we even have Science Metal =p My friend is hyped about the theme of this album, I can't really share it. I do love the books from Dawkins. You have to have read at least one of them.

@@Ts6451 And we were here ;)

I wish all of humanity would listen/watch the fanmade video of this song. It is perfection.
Plus, Nightwish.
the first time i heard that "we were here" part with the background i busted into tears, and ever since i can't listen to that part without tearing up
You are not alone.
Thé first time i heard that was live...And...oh maaan. No more words needed i guess.
...not going to say I tear up as well, but my encounters with onion-chopping ninjas do become more frequent whenever I listen to it.
Never fails....
There is something about that part that fills me with emotion too. The power of that statement combined with the power of the music and vocals.
And now it's time to NIGHTWISH - Romanticide (live Wacken 2013) :)
Hell yeaarh iam on

Or The Last Ride of The Day
or Ghost Love Score...can't get over that one
Unless I misremember he's playing Uillean Pipes rather than Scottish Bagpipes. I really love the lyrics for this song in particular the line 'Scions of the Devonian sea', this is very significant as during the Devonian era is when it's believed that the first vertrebrates took their first steps on land. Lots of lines in the song refer to evolution in general like 'Lucy of the Afar' refering to a significant archeological find of what is believed to be an early ancestor or ours as a human-like ape. It's like a giant celebration of life in itself
Also if you want to see more of Marco Hietala (the bassist) showing off his singing chops, watch The Islander from Tampere as well
You do not remember wrong
Imo way less harsh sound
The Great Hieland Pipes will murder your ears in even moderate proximity; they were designed to carry miles over the bogs. Uillean Pipes were made to be played indoors and are, indeed, quieter and less harsh.
You're right, there's a lot of references to evolution here, also the line 'Enter LUCA' which stands for Last Universal Common Ancestor, so basically the start of life. Brilliant lyrics!
This had me in tears. Love your Commentary! You Rock as do they!
@@Elvenpath ^ the 1% ;)
And you expect a goddess to know the limitations of mere mortals? 😂
But seriously, Floor makes it look like that sort of singing is second nature for her, like breathing.
Just because you can't do it, doesn't mean you can't.
Since puberty took over and my voice change in the late 1960's...I have sung Bass. So I wouldn't even attempt singing along with her!!!😂😂😂😂

Its a real masterpiece, especially that performance. I hope you watched it through again for your own pleasure of being carried along by the piece.
It is such a joy to see you soaking up the music. My theory is that the greatest singers and music lovers must be very emotional.
This is why I'm such a fan of Nightwish. Good comments & reaction Bec.
It's a bawlfest everytime from "We were here" ti the end. Love them so much
The Greatest Show on Earth is about the history of Earth and life itself. It has 5 sections:
3. The Toolmaker (starts with Floor's high notes and the primate grunting, ends with the "We were here" segment) - humans enter the stage, references to Lucy (the primate that seems to be our earliest ancestor), migration out of Africa, atomic bombs etc. and there are musical snippets from other musicians and composers, such as Bach, Mozart and Metallica (just before the second chorus you can hear the riff from Enter Sandman)
Good job Sir. Excellent.
th-cam.com/video/FJcn4KIVjnM/w-d-xo.html
I have always liked how this song fits ALL of human history, including its theoretical destruction at its own hands, into one segment. That truly shows how that, even as a species, we will come and go in the blink of an eye in relation to the rest of the universe.
It is a brilliant story about the evolution THEORY. A song I enjoy a lot every time I listen to it, though i do not subscribe to/agree with the theory.
@@janspiljard Yeah, me too. It's quite obvious that the flying spagetty monster made everything! R'Amen!
I like that you pause the video's when you have something to say instead of talking the whole dang time! We thank you for that!
@Jacques Malan i hear tarja now..she is so good .. but floor is the valkiery
@Jacques Malan yes yes she is better..🤔 her range?????
The song is amazing, epic, incredible.. But, not gonna lie, some of the best parts are just seeing Floor being expressive and emotive... and the visceral experience of watching her frantically head-banging during the instrumental breaks.
I'd wager that goes for most of the songs she performs.
Ah, but it's right there in the title!

I was at that Baltimore show also. also near the front. What a great evening! Unforgettable

Are you ready for this th-cam.com/video/FJcn4KIVjnM/w-d-xo.html and this th-cam.com/video/8mAdrSvOgwI/w-d-xo.html
thank you Carl Sagan.
@Charles Badstones I'm not interested in your "interpretation".
Becca, i lagh so much as you react to the music and the video. Your facial expressions as the music progresses, is epic. Love it... The shocked expressions are soooooo epic!!!
Somehow seeing you react to a nightwish songs makes me relive it another first time, thank you for that
The greatest show of Nightwish !!! 😍😍😍😍😍
In less than a year, we have seen Rebecca becoming a great Nightwish fan :D
A wonderful song and a great review, you are so witty and charming. I love your random voice changes (accents, singing etc) and your genuine emotional connection to the music. You do some of the best reactions on TH-cam. Keep it up!
This is the best day of this year! Thank You!
And how about Amorphs, Amongst Stars..
Epica Consign to Oblivion Live atthe Zenith, i wont give up
you can do it ! xD
Same!!!!!!
I feel that would be too much for her. Better get her prepared with Cry for the moon first.
@@juyifan7933 chasing the dragon could be very nice too ^^
yesss, please!
Bomb and fireworks like drums...its magic 😍😭 so poetical
Rebecca, I highly recommend you listen to the studio version of this album with nothing to see but the lyrics; no distractions. The music itself is stunning, but when you know the lyrics, everything comes together even more! *…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…* The lyrics tie into the feeling you expressed here.
You arent kidding
Album is a masterpiece
Nightwish - The Islander
from the same show you just watched with Marco singing, you will love it
Amooooooooooooo.....Marco & Floor....Épico
"How lucky we are to be born" which is why it's such a tragedy that people fall into the ruts of depression and believe that they would be better off dead, or wishing they had never been born.
I can´t help but think about children lost in abortion.
Actually the idea that Dawkins expresses when he talks about how lucky we are to be born is what always prevented me of even seriously considering suicide when I went through a 2 year depression. That saved me.
@@zvolencan1 They weren't children, they were fetus, a collection of cells not yet conscious. And frankly better to (not) exist in the nothingness than getting born into a place that doesn't want them, to cause pain or even death to the mothers, to not have access to the optimal conditions for growing and thriving.
@@Luumus Isn´t it interesting that we have a law in my country against lifting eggs from protected eagle´s nest, which are basically just collections of some kind of biological material not yet conscious? But when it comes to human biological material, we applaud women that decide to get rid of it. About that second "argument" - there are social institutes that can deal with "unwanted children", and many childless pairs are waiting for an adoption, too. KILLING IS JUST NOT AN OPTION.
@@zvolencan1 there is a big difference between a woman getting an abortion (usually within the first week or week and a half) than someone stealing a bird egg (which the average person wouldn't realize but the being in the egg could be fully developed AKA conscious).
After, Tarja, left, I pretty much stopped listening to Nightwish. Your review of their replacement singer, pretty much has me listening to Nightwish again. Didn't think her voice had so much range. Continued success Rebecca. I enjoy your funny and awesome reviews!! Blessings and peace!
Too bad Tarja had vanished up her own arse causing her to leave the band.
I stopped as well. That second singer really put me off nightwish for good. Floor is the best replacement. Tarja had her own dreams I suppose but I don't think she knew full well the impact of her place in Nightwish. Took me YEARS to come back to NW.
Tarja had limited range. If it were not operatic she could not do it. The band was good with Tarja but it improved when she was let go.
I have seen Nightwish 4 times, with Tarja, Anette and Floor and I can say Floor is absolutely the best of all these earlier singers. Amen.
Floor is the best replacememt . She gets Nightwish in high level now/ and it is a big pleasure to listen them again.
Thanks again Rebecca you made my day. With possibly one of the best songs of this century 🤘
Please, Ayreon - The day that the world breaks down. Prog rock song with 11 main singers, including Floor.
He has a way of making great singers want to work with him, and it's well deserved.
I think Arjen himself would pull a Wayne's World with an "I'm not worthy" as he normally does.
Such a masterpiece!
Yes please! ^_^ And speaking of Ayreon, a thought that crossed my mind: Rebecca’s lovely and versatile voice would also fit perfectly on an Ayreon album
"Everybody Dies" is also a great one with many singers, including Floor.
I am sooooooo glad You took this one :)) U've brightened up my day. Ps. I cried when I heard this song for the first time.
I cried the first 40 times I heard this song :D
Same and still do the "We were here" part gets me all the time
@@nighthunter3039 Yep, especially in the video of the concert, when they show the faces of all the different kinds of people, who are here right now ^_^
Parts of this song actually moves me to tears. It's just so beautiful
Now we just need Rebecca to react to The Islander (live at Tampere) to also appreciate Marco's vocals
