ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?

This whole show is fantastic. So far on this show Floor has sang in German, Dutch Spanish and English and in a different style every week. Even us Nightwish fans have been blown away by her incredible talent 😍🤘
It's not a huge surprise for Nightwish fans who accompany Tarja's career. Symphonic metal is filled with such talented singers, and these women deserve so much recognition and sadly don't get it because the music style is not mainstream...
before this program nobody knew Floor even that she is the best payed dutch artist nobody knew her.....now whole netherlands knows her lol

I wouldn't go that far. I'm Dutch and I've been listening to Floor's music for over 15 years. She's in band that sells a lot of records, but she's not the best paid Dutch artist.
Floors version is currently at NO.1 in the Dutch itune charts.
She has finally made it! It was a shame she was unknown for so long in her country.

Floor can sing anything she wants to sing. She is more then just Nightwish, she is perfection for your ears. If angels came to earth, they would sound like her. We really are not worthy of her.

Nightwish was never interesting for me before Floor joined. I liked her work with her band ReVamp and was a bit bummed as it she joined NW. But now I enjoy NW so what the hell. :D

Floor Jansen's voice is proof to us wretched mortals that the divine truly exists.
You're right, usually peoples who did 'Shallow' covers only focusing on the high notes but forget to deliver the emotion of the song. Floor Jansen really did very well on this, her expression, her body language, her interpretation to the song really well, and she's sing it with her own style.
Lady Gaga tweeted this was the best cover of this song she’s ever heard.

This was Floor's 5th song on this Dutch TV show where each week one of the 7 professional singers is put on the sofa with the emcee and the other 6 sing a song they have done or is important to them. This is not a competition, but Floor has done a Operatic aria in German, a Folk/Pop song in Dutch, a Salsa song in Spanish and a Country/Blues song in English besides this offering. That is 4 different genres in 4 different languages and each is short 4 mins but just awesome. She has really stunned the Dutch TV audience and the other singers with her vocals skills! You would really enjoy the show as the other singers are excellent as you might imagine all being professionals. Her most die-heart fans are as stunned and awestruck as everyone else with her performances on this program.
Great singers have the power to break people's hearts wide open and make them feel more intensely.... Floor Jansen has that power.
This is my favourite version of this song.

I once met her for a singing lesson, waaaaaay back, and she’s amazing in every way. 🙏 good to see people are noticing her talent outside the “metal” world.

Floor is the Swiss Army Knife of Vocal amazingness.
About the ”loving quality” i noticed this term back when i had singing classes in university, the teacher commented that my voice had a ”loving and warm quality” because my low tones sounded ”like a mother”. I think Floor definitely has that (a 1000000000000000 times better obviously). When she sings so calm and slow her voice reminds one of how a mother would sing for a child. Some people seem to be have cold low voice, which works great for grave and serious songs, but floor’s so warm and gentle, which works great for emotional personal songs (and jazz!)
Just my opinion, i could be terribly wrong :)

The power of this performance is in that Floor does the exact opposite of what everyone expects her to do and still kills it. That makes it twice as powerful. The movie is a year old now and thanks to radio, media and millions of not so inspirational covers Shallow has unfortunately reached the "overplayed" danger zone for many people. So by doing this her way, no band, not even a guitar, Floor actually gets away with covering this song this late to the party. She is beyond amazing, one of my favorite singers alive.

Fun fact: there is no "studio version" per se. Everything for the movie and the accompanying album was recorded live in front of real audiences.

It was so freaking faerie, I love that air in her voice. ♡♡♡
I'm really impressed with the development of her voice. When she recorded the Endless forms most beautifull album with Nightwish, people said that Toumas "wasted her potential" on that album not really using her booming voice to It's full extent. However Floor herself felt the album was a different kind of challenge, since she haven't been singing delicately since back in her school days. Now we see the result of all that effort she put in and Ot's really beautifull, I can't wait for the new album.
She makes you feel everything doesn't she.. like a best friend that has a story to tell, a journey that you aren't allowed to hide from, and a welcoming, compassionate shoulder to lean on and hand to hold.
This show has had so many absolutely fantastic performances. Very worth watching the full episodes with eng subtitles.
There are not very much persons in this world they can beat Lady gaga in this Song but Floor did it ..unbelivebel !

Floor Jansen never failed me becomes emotional with her performance, her voice already had emotion in it, let alone the emotional song itself that she sung.

I really like what you said about how just because you can do something, doesn't mean you have to do it all the time. I'm tired of people going: oh, she can growl, why didn't she growl!, or oh, she can hit a G-something, why didn't she do it?
One of my favorite things about Floor is that she keeps surprising me, I never know exactly what to expect from her, and she always nails it!

Aww, I knew your reaction would be emotional since you loved the movie so much 😊 Floor's divine voice doesn't make it easier on the heart either.. It's hard to believe a rock singer could produce such soft and pure sounds. I too thought the setting was very intimate and I'm sure everyone could hear every little sound she made there. I would be so nervous, but she handled it like the pro she is ^^

This show is a very interesting format: there gathering several singers and every evening one sits on the "hot seat" on the couch in the middle with the host and all others have to sing a song for this singer which has a special relation to him, maybe to his life, maybe written by him. This song Floor sung to Emma, the nice blonde younger woman.
Floor is the only reason I got into Nightwish. She is IMO the best singer in the world because of her versatility. This just confirms it even more. PS...you are a joy to watch and so incredibly beautiful.

Then there is Floor............ I can't think of anything else to say about her. That was a very good breakdown of how she sang this song. That statement you made about you can always do more but just because you can doesn't make it better. Tuomas the composer and key board player for Nightwish says the exact same thing. Great minds think alike............... :-)
True, it is also very smart in the way that when you start out small you can then go big without putting your voice under too much strain. And I think that Floor would completely overshadow the sound of the piano, if she started to belt it out.

Thank god you did this react! I never thought I would hear Floor singing this song, and I got surprised. I love her beacuse she can explore every single way of singing - from the operatic, to the agressive, to the soft, but indenpending of what she's doing, she delivers it well.
I figured something out about what draws me here while watching this latest Floor reaction. I watch your channel to be introduced to artists I may not know of and to hear renditions of songs I may not have heard. When I watch your videos I experience music I would never hear otherwise fairly often. This very rendition of this song is an excellent example. But... The biggest draw for me is to see your emotional/physical reaction to the voices of the artists. Watching you react to these people and songs is a genuine pleasure and it reminds me how much power the human voice can hold. Thank you for putting yourself out there for us all to enjoy. And of course, the Spongebob references are most appreciated.

I love this version SO much precisely because it’s so understated, it shows she really can do ANYTHING she wants with her voice, her wheelhouse is huge mind blowing belts, but she can also use soft warm almost whispery tones to perfection too, still full and warm and resonant, switching from chest to head voice effortlessly, to me it was a perfect performance, just flawless

Floorgasm!!!! Caught a snippet of this on Floors insta yesterday and was hoping you’d catch it too. I adore the fact that she didn’t belt it out, suited the song better I feel. Plus I think her belt would have been too much for such an intimate setting. I love the run on the word “shallow” at 3.55.
At the end of the series, Floor and Henk Poort are doing The Phantom of the Opera together.
I absolutely cannot wait to see this!!!! I am a huge fan of Sarah Brightman as the original Christine. So far, no cover has been able to compete for me. However, I have a strong feeling that the combination of Henk and Floor stands the best chance of toppling Sarah's reign, in my eyes.

Denise Hofs did an English Translation of this episode already! In it, Floor did in fact mention that keeping it small was difficult for her. She has never sung Pop before so this was her Out-Of-Her-Comfort-Zone for the week.

I know, right? All of the "react" channels react to Floor's performance of Ghost Love Score at Wakken, but I really prefer the earlier performance in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in a small venue.

Yeah, Reuben and I were doing a raspberry duet there at the end. That show will hitcha in the feels hard, especially this season. I've gone and watched pretty much all of what I can get on TH-cam. I like the way it's structured now. Every person on there this season sounds phenomenal... they're just a bunch of superemely talented, mind-blowing heart-slayers.
