Please do yourself the favor and watch the Wacken 2013 version. She owned 82,000 people with full stage... absolutely perfect!! While this performance is great.... it's not as epic as an entire package.

The rhythm section in rock is the main thing, the basis of the song.
It is speculated in the Nightwish Army that Floor's hair windmills could power all of the Netherlands.
Glad to see that you enjoyed yourself with this one. Nightwish is, in my personal opinion, one of the greatest live bands of all time. They will be going on tour in 2020 for their new album, and Henk Poort will be performing Phantom of the Opera with them while they are in Amsterdam. Unfortunately, Jukka (the drummer that you see here) had to officially step back from being on stage to be more involved with management after suffering from severe insomnia while on tour. The current drummer is Kai (from the band Wintersun) who might not be as high-energy as Jukka, but he is an absolute machine on the drums.
Nightwish has been around for over 20 years, with three different singers over that time (Tarja, Anette, and Floor), so don't be surprised if you hear another vocalist on one of their tracks. The bassist, Marko, also sings very frequently, typically going for more grit in his voice as a contrast to Floor.
Finally, this music is pretty much all written by their keyboard player, Tuomas, who also writes almost all of the lyrics. He often works with the London Philharmonic Orchestra when producing. A lot of their music is inspired by his love of fantasy (he's a huge fan of Disney), film scores, and the beauty he finds in life and nature.

The holy trinity of Nightwish performances is typically considered GLS (this song) from Wacken 2013 (th-cam.com/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/w-d-xo.html), Poet and the Pendulum from Wembley 2015 (th-cam.com/video/iEzZRMthhXU/w-d-xo.html), and Greatest Show on Earth from Tempere 2015 (th-cam.com/video/45brzDJKZ3o/w-d-xo.html). The Poet and the Pendulum is considered one of the most emotional and darkest Nightwish songs (it is about when Tuomas was contemplating suicide and eventually decided to live on), and might be a bit much for people who are new to the band. The Greatest Show on Earth, the longest song they currently have at over 20 minutes, is about the evolution of life on planet Earth and how everything is connected.

Agreed. I have seen quite some shows. Sometimes someone makes a mistake but the song in a whole goes on, sometimes without many people noticing. But if the drummer screws up... holy cow... that does not go unnoticed.

excellent job. it's very hard to remain disconnected when Nightwish performs. Tuomas's writing, the chops of Jukka, Marko, and Emppu, and added to that, the other worldly vocals of the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal, Mrs Floor Jansen. they all draw you into another world of emotion. as epic as GLS is, you have just scratched the surface. you will hear of the Holy Trinity, Wacken '13, Wembley '15, and Tampere '15. any selection from those 3 will be met with joy and enthusiasm. give in to the enchantment. you'll thank us later.

'End of an Era' as well. Tarja is different from Floor, but her voice reaches deep into your soul and pulls you along. Anette's Montreal 2012 is a good showcase. They each have their own beauty. The Siren, the Fairy, and the Valkyrie.

She wasn't a permanent member at this point she was filling in. The introduction of Floor and Troy really gave Nightwish new life. It's sad that Jukka stood down due to his insomnia. But they're still such a power house now.
Don't ever feel a need to apologize for feeling the music, that's a beautiful thing. Sometimes your expression conveys much more than words could. Apparently, Floor had a cold when she did this performance. If this is what she's like when sick, just imagine when she's not. LOL! Very happy you chose the Buenos Aires show, something about it that I just like better than the "gold standard" Waken 2013. Glad you enjoyed the song and performance.
when this was recorded Floor had only song with the band for about 3 months. this is a good performance full of energy.
the only downside is that that the wacken 2013 ( their official live version of the song is better. ( my opinion )
they have finished recording their parts of their new album. they should be in London finishing the rest of the songs by now.

It's really cool to compare the two and see how much Floor refined the way she sings this song. This performance is great, but by the time of Wacken 2013 she'd absolutely honed and perfected every section, every note.

Considering that Floor just a few months before joining the tour had been recovering from a bad case of "burnout" and has said in interviews that had the band called a month earlier she might not have been able to do it, makes this all the more mind-blowing! Great reaction thanks! It's one song :) They have a quite a few long songs, longest being over 20 minutes (Greatest show on earth.) This show was recorded only months after Floor took the place of the previous singer, Anette. When she replaced Anette in the middle of a US tour, she had 48 hours to learn the setlist. But hey you're in luck, I see you're from UK and Nightwish will play at least two shows there next year, two confirmed dates for Dec 2020 at least. Maybe more. Full European tour has not been revealed yet. In Cardiff and London (the Wembley arena.) It's an amazing experience, so I'd recommend going there. They are currently finishing their new album, which they release next spring, and start touring after.

If you love Jukka (understandable,he is my favourite drummer too),you should really watch theyr legendary,one of a kind Wacken 2013 concert. He interacts with the crowd,does constant tricks while playing,and is glowing with energy and joy. He sadly had to take a step back,to try and recover from hard Insomnia. So he has a "replacement" drummer in Kai now (wich is very good too,a flawless drumming machine) Jukka has stated that he plans on doing a comeback,but when or if its gonna happen,remains to be seen. Nightwish hopes so (he is not in the "retired" part of theyr band member section,they have him with them all as current band members on theyr website),and i certainly hope so too! Allways dreamt to see Jukka & Kai do a double drumset on stage. Kai`s drumming is perfect for certain songs,and Jukka is perfect for a huge amount of other songs. So they could "take turns" or simply duo drum it out! Floor did pretty impressive here btw,taking into consideration that she didnt have her confidence at 100%,after just basically recovered from a burned out state of mind. The Nightwish guys made it theyr main goal,to get her confidence back up where it should be. And she comes out in full force on the "official presentation" concert in Wacken 2013. Marco (aka The Viking,looks like one while playing the bass) had the honor of properly introducing her just in front of theyr 3rd song "Shes My Sin" at that concert. Floor has been most of the Nightwish Armys SIN,ever since! #NoPunsIntended *smirk*
Every time, without fail, that ending gets me emotional. In the wacken 13 version at the end floor turns and point to Jukka. That one was more polished. But this one the crowd singing the solo, the smaller theatre, it wouldve felt like the roof was lifting off the building.
My first ever concert was system of a down, in a smaller indoor "stadium", and the whole crowd sang the final section. It was totally epic. Much like the vibe i got just listening to that on this video.

And Floor begins a tour in addition to her work with Nightwish. Her tour will be more local and will feature the band from Beste Zangers. It started with 6 dates but they sold out in under 24 hours. @@theconfidentsinger7477 Maybe reach out to some of the other reviewers/coaches? They seem to have it figured out. I see a lot of comments about Poet and the Pendulum, but I'd suggest getting to know the band a bit better first. That song has a ton of history and weight behind it. Speaking of, may I suggest the first singer in Nightwish, Tarja Tururen, doing Bless the Child (End of an Era). She's also incredible. A lyric soprano goddess.
I don't know if someone already mentioned it in this video or another, but to your point about the drummer. He has a clicktrack in his ear. These songs were recorded with an orchestra and sometimes also with a choir. So he can't. miss. a. beat. since the backtrack is the orchestra and/or choir. INSANE skill imo. And then you add his constant energy throughout the entire song. I sometimes re-watch Nightwish videos to just re-energize and they never disappoint. They are all committed to the crowd and their profession and it shows. I hope to see them the next time they are in the US unless I get impatient and travel. Another great reaction from you and I always enjoy your insights on a band's performance.

Your reaction to The Phantom left us all speechless as well. I got a frisson just watching you react. This song is one of Nightwish's 3 epic songs and happens to be Floor's favorite. Isn't it wonderful how this song is composed to bring you on a journey. From highs to lows and back up to an epic climax. It is a very special and unique song. I don't think there is another one like it within the heavy rock/metal genre. Some people have compared its composition to Bohemian Rhapsody? I am sure that the entire NW army would be enraptured to experience many more NW reactions with you! BTW, be careful about that headbanging windmill stuff? Thanks for coming back to see Floor in her element with Nightwish. And yes, Jukka deserves some points - most energetic drummer ever. It's not as obvious from the sound captured in this video, but the South American audiences go crazy over Nightwish. They come well-rehearsed and sing along loudly all the way through the concert, so they should get some energy points also. If you notice, they are chanting "Floor" at the end of the video. There will be a much-anticipated DVD coming out in December, recorded at one of their 2018 South American shows.

Yes, we sing all over the songs, the riff parts, guitar solos, we are crazy, but not only for NIGHTWISH, that's why bands like AC/DC, Megadeth, Maddona, U2, Kiss, The Police, Dream Theater, The Rolling Stone, and many other choose Argentina to record their live DVDs. More reactors should give Jukka his due like you did. Yes it’s almost impossible to tear yourself away from Floor’s voice and charisma, but the intensity he plays with is as undeniable as anything else going on during the performance. The whole concert for that matter.

I caught Jukka's drumstick at the end of one of the Nightwish concerts I went to, now that he is no longer playing I cherish it like some amazingly valuable relic from the past :) Apart from being fantastic drummer we always admired his style and energy, he always went 120%! We miss him so much!

Just fantastic. Again, I watched you during this as I did the Phantom reaction and your face said it all. You were in the moment. Your eyes followed everything that was going on and they, along with the never ending smile, said more than your words ever could. I love watching people who have never heard Nightwish hear them for the first time.
Others have mentioned the Wacken 2013 show and it being a better performance and I agree. Now that you've done this, go check that one out on your time. I'd love to hear what you think.
