Thank you, Lisa, especially for the explanations and whys of different tools. I've never seen the purple long head Easy Grab pins. My hands will thank you. You were so concise I don't have any questions. Beautifully presented video.
Wonderful tutorial. Showing the zig zag was my favorite! You are a great teacher. Being new to quilting and sewing you helped me be confident to do this.
Thank you for your wonderful tutorial. I’m about to make a hexagon Christmas Skirt for my sister in life. The actual pattern uses hooks and eyes and I needed to find a better technique for sewing these hexagon together. Your tutorial fit the bill. Thank you very much. 😊⭐️⭐️🌷🌷
I think I’m going to put a few of those grip dots on the backs of these templates - I already have these - somewhere - time for a search😁😁 I had forgotten about them till I just came across your video! I love this project!
First time watcher!! I enjoyed your video very much and this is something that I will make for myself, also gifts. Summers in Arizona are getting very hot 110° this weekend. Our first day of Summer today and I'm planning out my, stay inside, summer projects.
I love the jewel tone one, as I'm not much on using whites or lights, but the demo was great & did offer options. I love the hexi-tool too & I do value my small rotating mat. I just started using pattern weights even though it's not a tissue pattern, they add some stability. Thank You for this tutorial.👍👍👍
Lori, Can you add the 'finished sizes of your projects' to your Supply Handout? I appreciate you so much and you have a great presentation voice for demonstrations! Just wondering what the finished sizes are in the projects!
I am ready to sew my hexes together. I don't like the look of the back stitches with he zigzag. Any suggestion a different stitch, or a hand sewn stitch?
Instead of a back stitch you could try setting your stitch length to zero, taking a few stitches and then changing your stitch length back to 2.5. It'll lock the stitch in place. Also, I used invisible thread! You can't see my backstitching...I also can't see the thread tails to cut them off either.
What do you think about making the hexagons farther apart in size? Like could I do a 6” with a 4” for a bigger border or do you think it would be too floppy because there wouldn’t be batting in there.
You could definitely do that. Cut the batting so that you are folding the 'border' up to the batting. That way there will be no flopping around. Plus, if you used Thermolam, or something similiar, it would have a bit more structure.
I noticed the IDT on your machine and recognized it as a Pfaff. What model are you using in this video, if you don't mind me asking? I currently have a Pfaff Tiptronic 2020 and LOVE it! I'd like to get a newer quilting machine and want to look into the one you're using. Thanks!
Me encanta el proyecto . No entiendo su idioma , me gustaría saber las medidas de los exagonos,o donde conseguir los moldes de lo exagonos. Gracias por compartir estos tutoriales
Can you please tell me what stitch is used on the inside hexagon? Are you doing a zig zag to sew the inside hexi with batting and catching the outer folded hexi? Or another kind of stitch, please ? Very beautiful and inspiring pattern!
Honestly, I fudge it...make them fit. We aren't machines so nothing we do is perfect. In the overall project, little inconsistencies won't be noticed! Keep going and have fun creating.

I think if you hand sew it will be less stiff and more flexible. Personally I prefer to hand sew but your project takes much longer, ok if you're not in a rush.
You are a great and in detail teacher.
Thank you very much!
Thank you. I’ve always thought these would be too fiddled but you made them look manageable.
Thank you
I have watched many, many quilting videos and this is one of the very best! I learned a great deal and appreciated all the detail! Definitely A plus!
Glad it was helpful!

First time watching your videos. Very well explained. Maybe not quite so many “voilás”
Glad you like them!

What did you try? I’m thinking about it too- thx
Hand sewn can do ladder stitch

I'm sewing with a Pfaff Performance 5.0 and I love it! Lisa
@@loribosecke3165 thank you *SEW* much! I'll be looking into this machine today.
I need a set please
you can find them on our website!
what kind of batting did you use?
Lisa used a cotton batting. Any low loft batting will work. Have fun!

Very beautiful and inspiring pattern!
Sorry for the delay, I missed your message. It is indeed a zigzag stitch, yes.
Where can I buy the tramples?
We have the templates at Lori's Country Cottage. loriscountrycottage.com/search?type=article%2Cpage%2Cproduct&q=octagon*
How would you recommend joining two hexies by hand?
You could join two hexies with a binding stitch similar to the stitch used for English Paper Piecing.
What do you do if hexes don’t go together right?
Honestly, I fudge it...make them fit. We aren't machines so nothing we do is perfect. In the overall project, little inconsistencies won't be noticed! Keep going and have fun creating.
I’ve watched several of these videos. Do you actually do any quilting design on the hexagons, or just sew them together?
I just sewed mine together but you could quilt them if you liked.
I happen to like hand embroidery so I’m thinking that would,be nice to do before cutting out the center if using the plain fabrics!
Where to find the brand rotating cutting mat

@@loribosecke3165 Thank you
Could you make a whole quilt like this?
You bet you could!
Where do you purchase the hexagon templates from?
We sell them in the store!
Length of stitch are you using
Hi Linda. I used a regular stitch length for this project. You can adjust your zigzag to whatever you feel comfortable with. Lisa
Can you do a grandmother's flower garden with this template
I don't see why you couldn't! Grandmother's flower garden is all hexagons after all...oh, dear, now you've got me thinking....
Could you show me how you'd do it?
How do you get 2/15 templates
They are available on our website here: loriscountrycottage.com/products/quilt-as-you-go-hexagon-by-daisy-grace-template-bund190?_pos=5&_sid=5c8082445&_ss=r
It looks a little stiff. Is it just my imagination?
I don't think it was stiff, but cotton batting softened as it is used.
All quilts will become more “flexible” the more they are washed.
I think if you hand sew it will be less stiff and more flexible. Personally I prefer to hand sew but your project takes much longer, ok if you're not in a rush.
You could also use a washable wool batting like Tuscany - that's really soft and squidgy
What kind of batting are you using?
I used 100% cotton batting but you can use whatever you like.
