I am thinking hard about making a nice big hexagon quilt now! :) What kind of wadding (batting) do you use? It looks very thin: did you split the layers?
I absolutely love your hand work! Over the years, believe it or not, people have been very negative about my handwork. I started doing a hexagon quilt years ago, and was told that I would never finish it because I was doing it by hand. Quilting by hand has been met with comments like, "You are wasting your time, you need to use a quilt machine!" Now I am much older and my hands can no longer do all of that hand quilting, but I so admire that you press on and do this. You are a true artist with you hands.
Oh Patti, I think it's terrible that people have been so negative to you, that is really unfair. Why can't people be happy for others who have found something nice to do? Thank you for watching
Do not allow the negatives into your world. You do what you want to do. I thoroughly dislike people that cannot appreciate others and are always there with their negatives. Know that they probably are very unhappy in life unlike you my dear! Be happy, be well and quilt on in any way you love.
I have never felt negative for loving hand work, I too now have serious hand pain and numbness so I have to pick and choose carefully, but I let naysayers know that they are wasting their time preaching to me. Go tell it to someone who craves your attention and feedback and that is not me. I do not quilt fast, or piece or appliqué fast but I enjoy every stitch and I have lost count of the hand work I have given as gifts to family, friends and strangers and gifted to others so they can raise money at sales and such. 👏👏👏👏👏👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💋💋👌👌👌👌🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Emma, Please know that what you are doing really matters. I caught your very first video by chance. After you shared how slow stitching saved your life, I began to rescue my own. Several years later, people around me are beginning to notice the subtle differences in my ability to better manage stress and anxiety. Beyond hexies I have added crocheting, cross stitching and basic gardening to my recovery process. I have shared your original video with many others that I encounter who are seeking refuge from the complexities of life. Thank you for continuing to share your art. You have really grown in your art. I always enjoy watching you share each of your whips and finished projects. Remain encouraged.
Hi Rebecca, thank you so much for sharing your personal story with me. I am so happy to hear that crafts have helped you like they help me. It's incredible how much of a difference slowing down and focusing on creating can make to life isn't it. Continue to take good care of yourself and thank you for watching and sharing my video x x
I have never been a quilter, but I ADORE seeing your choices of fabrics and designs. You have such a calm manner, and your explanations are very clear. Thank you for your generous spirit!
What I love about this quilt design is it is peacefully done in small amounts, not overwhelming at all. I have so many scraps of old linens. This is the perfect way to use them. So many even have scraps of embroidery already on them. I am very excited about finally getting to use them. Thank you for this wonderful video that presents itself in a very doable plan.
I have been looking for a quilt to use as a diary quilt. And I think this will be perfect for a diary quilt. My goal for the new year is to quilt- and this is the plan! What a beautiful construction.
My mother and grandmother left so many beautiful pieces of needle work that could be incorporated into a quilt like this. Thank you so much for teaching this 74 year old great gran a new way to use them. I am also a Jane Austin fan and avid reader. God bless you and your gift.
I'm new to quilting and absolutely LOVE your use of florals. Thank you for your beautiful aesthetic. I hope to try and emulate your style. Thank you for showing me I can mix things up and quilt as I go and make little adorable things. Its a whole new world for me now...Thank you sew much Emma
I just discovered your channel and I absolutely LOVE it!!! Everything you do is beautiful and peaceful! I look forward to watching each and every video you made!!!
FINALLY, a way to make quilting properly portable -- and with those clips, you can bring it on a plane as well. The biggest issue I've had with quilting so far, and the reason I don't do it anymore, is that it's just not interruptable and portable enough, unlike knitting and crochet where you can pick something up and put it down, and finish small pieces in between assembling them. This idea makes quilting just as portable, simple, and quiet as knitting and crochet -- no chattering machine!
What you do is something very very special Emma. Thank you for sharing here. Mother Teresa used to say "do something beautiful for God", I think this definitely counts as something very beautiful. :)
This is too gorgeous for words and has inspired me to use all the fabrics that I have collected for a special project - previously unknown until now! I’m at a stage now where I don’t want to make a lot of quilts anymore especially since I have made a lot for family but none really for myself. However, it’s time I made some special projects for myself with a touch of nostalgia from my own childhood. I have beautiful embroidery transfers that belonged to my husband’s grandmother; she taught me how to embroider so I’m sure she will be happy. Like you, I also like the way it’s always in a state of completion - no more UFO’s in the cupboard. Thank you Emma, I’ve watched this video twice and love it. Take care 🇳🇿😀
Oh Carolyn! What a lovely comment! I’m so excited you are going to make one too! Your plan sounds wonderful. Take care, thanks for watching and happy sewing!
This is absolutely beautiful Emma. I love everything about it, the fabric designs, colours and your wonderful embellishments. What a wonderful project. I look forward to updates as it grows. Thank you.
My Mom passed a few years ago and I saved her clothes to make a quilt. I couldn't decide on a pattern/project until now. I too enjoy hand sewing. Thank you for this video.
I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. I think this would be a wonderful way to remember her and it would make such a lovely memory quilt. Take care and thank you for watching
I love this quilting project. I didn't realize you could quilt as you go like this. I really enjoy your channel and project ideas! You have inspired me to dig into my fabric stash 💗 Thanks Emma 💖
Emma you make me so happy 😊. I love love love everything you do. I often have similar ideas but lack the confidence to try them. I love that you share your vulnerability, it really helps me. I love that you show us how to do things, there's your gift of teaching that is within you coming shining out with love towards us. Thankyou so much Emma for your kindness, encouragement, skills and yourself you share.
Oh what a lovely thing to say Christina, thank you so much. I understand what it’s like to be unsure and lack confidence. I’m still like that too. But I try to just focus on what I feel like making and just go for it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I hope you can give it a go and just create from your heart ❤️
Oh my, Emma, this is a fantastic project and one that I definitely want to do. I absolutely love it!! Thank you so much for once again sharing your talent and time with all of us. It is so gorgeous!!
This would be a good way to use those vintage linens that are to precious to discard! Somewhere I have some embroidery that I cut off a pillowcase because the it was worn out but I couldn’t bear to throw out. Now I know what I can do with it!!!
This is just a beautiful way to use those precious vintage pieces that I have been saving for “ something special”! I love the way you incorporate a bit of embroidery to enhance the fabric. Your video is relaxing to watch and I can’t wait to begin a hexie project of my own. Thank you for the inspiration and sharing your talent! Gorgeous result! Keep it growing! 💐
Emma - I love your beautiful quilting techniques. I first learned of your gorgeous quilts from watching a TH-cam video a few years ago. Unfortunately, I never saved it to my folders and have spent the past 18 months trying to view it again. Luckily tonight, I found this wonderful video again.
What a beautiful, soothing video . I am starting my quilt as you go hexagon quilt today. I cannot tell you how many special fabrics I’ve collected over 50 years and now I have the perfect project for them. Handwork is the perfect meditative activity especially during these trying times. There are so many quilting videos these days and I believe yours are some of the best. Thank you. ❤
Just discovered your channel & absolutely love this quilt you are making! I also love your calm manner and your accent ☺️ I follow several from “across the pond” & all are very soothing to watch & listen to….it must be a local thing 😉 We are too fast-paced & hectic here!
Was feeling very stressed this morning so I hopped on TH-cam to find something relaxing to watch and you were the first person I thought of. When I can watch Emma hand stitching something pretty, I go into the happy place in my mind where the cares of the world are just a bit muted and sewing is the only thing that matters. Am not only feeling better but also inspired to get my hexies out and crack on with this quilt. Thank you Emma!🥰
Oh that is such a lovely thing to say, thank you. That honestly means so so much to me. I hope you are ok and things are a bit less stressful today. Take care of yourself 🌸
Thanks Emma, this technique is something I can manage as I have a disability but also like to do all of the projects I’m doing. I don’t like the idea of sending my quilt off to a long arm quilter. I love that this can make large and small projects. Thanks for sharing. Julie Tasmania Australia.❤❤
So lovely Emma, I even have some of my late mother's vintage transfers. The ones you used looked so familiar, and so sensible to trace the transfers so they can be repeated as often as wanted. I have other projects on the go at present, but with winter evenings approaching an ideal thing to be working on. Thank you.
Emma, thank you very much for recommending the Serious Readers light. I ordered the high def, heavyweight floor model. It arrived yesterday in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA in perfect condition. WOW!!! Huge difference in how long I can EPP, without eye fatigue. Being able to adjust the light intensity is a real game changer. I put in your "Emma20" offer code. Just like you said, they sent me their compact light for free, perfect for my sewing machine table. You're the BEST, Emma. Thank you so very much!!!! I'm so thrilled you stopped teaching and started your Vintage Sewing Box business.
Hi Norma, I am so happy you love your lights! I absolutely love mine and it has made such a big difference to me too, so it’s lovely to know you have had the same experience. Thank you so much for using my code too. Take care and happy stitching 😊🧵
So glad to see you back & Hoping your summer with Your child was all you had Desired. Your project, instructions And narration are great. I would like to try this Idea in simple patch work Squares set on point. Could be lovely Quilted placemats & Table runner.
What lovely material you use in your “quilt as you go” project. Often so many want to finish needlework in a hurry instead of enjoying the journey. I have so many old linens from my grandmother that can be repurposed into little stories of their own. Thanks for the inspiration.🪡🧵🙏🌟💖
Hi Emma. I love the vintage embroidery transfers you show in this video. I'm 77 now but they take me back to the tablecloths my grandma and my mum used to embroider with those beautiful ladies on them. I'm hoping I still have some of mums transfers 🤞 Thankyou for another beautiful video 💞
Your voice is so peaceful. My dementia roommate here in the nursing home she calms down as soon as I start learning. Thank you so much and yes I will be starting tomorrow morning.
I Will be creating one for myself. I’ve created wuilts for all 5 children for their weddings. All 8 grands have a hand made hand quilted quilt. Now time for myself . Your quote will be however , have to posted video kept me creating at the hotel 2 hours at least One can never have true quilted art in their home. To me it’s a sign of days gone back. Cultures have changed but quilting will never end thank you for being such a big part of keeping hand quilting and EP alive
oh that is so lovely of you Cheryl, thank you for your kind words. Sounds like you've made some incredible projects over the years. Thanks for watching
Oh my goodness, I love this! I just started to learn English paper piecing and now it’s my favorite hobby. I will be doing a quilt like this because it gives me an opportunity to embroidery, appliqué and paper piece! I have a lot of transfers from my mother that are at least 50 years old and will be perfect for this. Thank you for this tutorial.
This will be my first quilting type project. I don’t really understand a sewing machine but I know how to sew by hand. My great grandma taught me about 19 years go now. Thank you for this gorgeous tutorial. 🥹🥰
Hi. You had me with your intro! Where I live, no one in the quilting guild likes slow hand stitching! It is such a comforting feeling to have found a like minded person! I love this quilt. I want to make one! Thank you!!!
Ih my goodness! That is a lovely project. My mom always did beautiful handwork. Mine is not so nice but I do it because it helps me feel close to her. I think this pattern would make lovely baby quilts!
I live English paper quitting I have just re- kindled my love for quilting and I am make my Granddaughter a quilt. Really love what you have shown in this video the concept of the Two in one is new to me. Thank you for sharing your wonderful creative skills. 🌸🌸
Hi from Australia. Thankyou for sharing. I lost a bag full of hexies that I had sewn and really lost heart. My sewing friend encouraged to watch you. Now I will start again thanks to your encouragement Emma. Ps I too love BPotter regards Rotha .
Oh I’m sorry to hear you lost your hexies Rotha, I hope they turn up one day and then you could add them to what you start now. Take care and thank you for watching
I have just found this video, it as so soothing to watch, I feel I could have a bash at hexagons now. I loved fabrics you used, so delicate, so glad I found you.💖
Great idea! I have some other shapes too. I could start those to see if I can even commit to a project like this or is this my next WIP. Do those and will have kick butt wall quilt for my sewing room 😁 if I miss working on it then it's a Go For Stitching! Bring on the hand sewing!
Thank you, Emma for taking the trouble to share so many of your ideas and how to start them. I am late to crafting, was always chasing my tail just trying to work, study, look after my children and home and all my family. I got ill, needed to reconfigure and rethink what was important - turns out the simplest things give the greatest joy. It was hard working out how to do it because everyone I watched seemed so advanced and I needed so much to even start. With a much smaller income, it looked like I wasn't going to be able to do it. I remembered my Mum saving everything and so I started doing this and found you. I saw a path to turning out something and even with my physical limitations I am doing something everyday. Not pretty sometimes but I'm getting better and braver, have collected bits and bobs from old clothes etc and op shops. I am always busy, in a slower more aware way, I can rest when the pain is too much and can still make a welcoming home for my family. Between the garden and crafting I don't miss the pressure and extra money and it is a way I can give presents as well. God Bless!
Thrift stores (op shops) are a great idea for beginners. Some good things to look for are curtains, bed sheets and men's shirts (larger the better). Enjoy.
Hi Gail, what you are doing sounds wonderful and I think your approach is the most rewarding way of crafting. It's not about the latest tools, materials and gadgets, it's about the simple art of creating with your hands, with love. I am so glad you've found crafting and that it is rewarding you with joy. Thank you for watching
Thank you for this quilt as you go project. I did a small one years ago but the back was all an off white I like the idea of different favorite fabric colors and putting in personal embroidery stories etc! Quilts to stop and go on as you have time for makes it fun. My husband and I are going to travel full time in the USA 🇺🇸and EPP projects like this are perfect!
I’ve been letting my finished hexagons pile up thinking I’d have to sort and place them after they were all completed. Your example shows that it isn’t necessary to wait. I appreciate the close up instructions for ladder stitch attachment, too, really helpful for me. Thanks, Emma! ❤
I adore this!! And thank u for saying use polyester thread! I've been telling people it's better because it's stronger for years and they always argue...my reply is always "really? Because I recall the cotton thread rotted out of my grandmothers polyester pants, but the pants fabric will outlive us all! " Lol Ps. It's also the perfect quilt project because u could just do one for a coaster, ten or 15 for a table runner or even turn it into a tote bag... This is utterly marvelous!!!
@@emmajonesvintagesewingbox I subscribed after watching a couple more videos... U have such a happy soothing voice and demeanor... I loved seeing how nice antique stores are over there too, ours usually aren't so neat, clean etc.. for instance last week I went to one and saw some embroidery pieces like that, but they were all stained... If u dye them with coffee u don't notice much, but I was amazed at how pristine things were in the shop u went to lol... Anyway, have a lovely day ☺️
Yes! I'm going to make one. I think I'm going to add my already sewn flower hexagons in the center of some of the hexagons. But first, I think I'm going to make a table runner for spring with this method.
I never wanted to do a Hexagon Quilt. I had a client ask me to finish a 1 3/5 inch hexagon quilt. (not paper pieced) I have been working on it off and on for 2 years now. I felt like it was a hassle and wanted it to be done. My neck got injured hearing surgery. After Christmas 2022 it put me flat in bed. I am so happy I had this quilt that still needed to be done. I found your youtube channel while looking for more information about hexagon quilts. I have fallen in love with your sweet personality. I still have a long way to go before I am up and around again. So before my surgery, I will be putting supplies together to make this larger Hexagon quilt. Thank you once again. your talent and beauty are so enjoyable.
I love this video andhave to confess that several friends and I made these quite some years ago, calling them heritage hexagons. The centres were made from different shades of calicos and homespuns, embellished with my lovely old embroidered handkerchiefs, motifs, laces, beads, antique buttons, embroidery. Mine was made as a runner for the end of my bed, two other friends made complete bedspreads. I made a small I Spy quilt for a friend's grandson as a play mat, a single bed quilt for a niece and a queen size for my brother. I have made place mats, table runners, and thread catchers, among others. They are truly portable and can end up as large or as small as needed. Thank you for reminding me and giving me another way to use them. I look forward to seeing more of your videos now that I have subscribed.
I think I will start one as soon as I'm finish with 3 quilts I'm making. I will use scraps from previous quilts I have made and do a wall hanging. You do lovely work.
I love this EPP quilt-as-you-go technique! I have to try it. I love your soft colours, Liberty prints, and vintage embroidery transfers. I love hearing you say you can make your own templates and if they get wrecked through use, you can make more! You touched a nerve because I have a pet peeve about giant packs of acrylic templates that are marketed as necessary to make an EPP quilt. They are VERY expensive! I understand that there is a convenience to the acrylic shapes that doubtless is worth it for some but I do get bothered when people assume they need an expensive set of templates (plus a pattern and paper shapes) to make a quilt. As often as I get a chance, I say that I make my own templates--just to plant that seed--and I love to hear others say it too!
I totally agree. Deborah. It's nice to have acrylics in a shape and size you are going to use a lot of, but in reality you just don't need them and it's a good way to save money by making your own. Thank you for watching
Hi Emma ❤ so good to see you. I’m going to be making a ‘quilt as you go’ quilt using my Kaffe Fassett fabrics and squares!!! I’ve ordered some batting, hand quilting thread and needles (had to rewatch you videos on threads and needles first 🤦🏼♀️). Spent today ironing my beautiful fabric and planning the best way to pair the different patterns. Very excited!! Thank you for sharing the idea x x Hugs Sharon x
This is so exciting just what I need an easy technique to make a quilt in a piece by piece method. No overwhelming here🎉 I can’t tell you the joy you have given me teaching me this amazing craft. I suffer mental and physical health problems and making saves me . Thankyou precious Emma . 💝
Love this! I’ve been looking for a method for hand sewing a memory quilt. And this IS IT! And I can add memories as I go. Love it. Thank you. Great video too ❤
Love watch you sew such beautiful hexagon, I think I like making these are so lovely you can just make one at a time. You are a artist with such wonderful fabrics that you pick out for your projects
Thank you so much. I will be using this technique soon. I have tried quilting before but found the process of machine stitching to not be relaxing and then trying to handle all the fabric too much 🤦♀️. I discovered that I enjoy hand piecing much more and find it as relaxing as my much loved cross stitch. Your video is lovely and clear and beautiful to watch. I can appreciate, from my flosstube recordings (which are very simple), the amount of work you put into making an episode. Thanks again. Karen x
Aww thank you so much Karen. I hope you love it when you give it a try. Lovely to hear you have a channel too, I will be sure to check it out and subscribe x
First of all, your sense of color and fabric speak to my love of soft, gentle and a quilt to snuggle with. I just discovered your channel, you totally rescued my love of quilting. I stopped a few years back because I started my degree part time and working full time…no time for “me”. I have always loved handwork, and took a different path into cross stitching and knitting. I have so many quilt WIPs, and have been inspired by you to pick them up again…thank you for your lovely videos!
Hi Emma, I’m feeling so lucky that I’ve come across your beautiful videos. I love the way you present the projects. I am really enjoying the way you describe the process of sewing and I can’t wait to begin a hexagon quilt. As a newcomer to hexagon patchwork I look forward to the tutorial and patterns you will be sharing with us soon. Thank You for all the lovely inspiration and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Maria
Hi Maria, thank you ever so much for watching my video and for leaving such a lovely comment! I’m so happy to hear you will starting a hexagon project soon. Take care
Will you be making a quilt as you go hexagon quilt? Let me know!
It's a house shape and it is quilt as you go using the techniques you did today. Thanks for the inspiration.
I am thinking hard about making a nice big hexagon quilt now! :) What kind of wadding (batting) do you use? It looks very thin: did you split the layers?
Yes I will be making the quilting as you go hexagon quilt.
I love this technique. I have made a QAYG hexagon project and plan to do more. Yours is really lovely.
Absolutely!

This would be a perfect quilt to help teach a child to fall in love with quilting!!
it really would!
I bought a hexagon template and now I definitely know what I can use them for. I really love how you create and will be trying one too. Thank you!!
Emma - I love your beautiful quilting techniques. I first learned of your gorgeous quilts from watching a TH-cam video a few years ago. Unfortunately, I never saved it to my folders and have spent the past 18 months trying to view it again. Luckily tonight, I found this wonderful video again.
Thank you so much! Glad you liked it and found it again!
I love your quilt, quilt as you go what a fantastic idea. I love the idea of it being reversible and finished as you go along. Thanks ❤️❤️
So glad you like this idea Julie, thank you for watching ❤️
What a beautiful, soothing video . I am starting my quilt as you go hexagon quilt today. I cannot tell you how many special fabrics I’ve collected over 50 years and now I have the perfect project for them. Handwork is the perfect meditative activity especially during these trying times. There are so many quilting videos these days and I believe yours are some of the best. Thank you. ❤
Oh thank you! What a lovely thing to say. Wishing you lots of happy stitching time, your quilt will be wonderful
Hi Emma, your work is so beautiful. Such talent, you are so inspiring! Thank you
That’s so kind, thank you Julie
Just discovered your channel & absolutely love this quilt you are making! I also love your calm manner and your accent ☺️ I follow several from “across the pond” & all are very soothing to watch & listen to….it must be a local thing 😉 We are too fast-paced & hectic here!
Thanks so much! 😊
Emma, I always find your videos so inspiring! I love your fabrics!
Aww thank you so much Laura!
I love this project! So beautiful! Thanks for the inspiration Emma!💟
Aww thanks so much
Thanks Emma, this technique is something I can manage as I have a disability but also like to do all of the projects I’m doing.
Thank you.
I’m so glad you like this idea Mary. It’s hard to resist new projects when you have other things on the go isn’t it. Thanks for watching
Lovely fabric and stitching. Great video. Pray as you quilt.
Thank you so much!
So glad to see you back &
Hoping your summer with
Your child was all you had
Desired.
Your project, instructions
And narration are great.
I would like to try this
Idea in simple patch work
Squares set on point.
Could be lovely
Quilted placemats &
Table runner.
Ooo squares on point would be lovely! Now I want to try that! Have fun Andrea and thank you for watching. I had a great summer, hope you did too 🌸
What lovely material you use in your “quilt as you go” project. Often so many want to finish needlework in a hurry instead of enjoying the journey. I have so many old linens from my grandmother that can be repurposed into little stories of their own. Thanks for the inspiration.🪡🧵🙏🌟💖
that's exactly it, enjoying the journey, I enjoy that more than the end product most of the time. Thanks for watching
Hi Emma. I love the vintage embroidery transfers you show in this video. I'm 77 now but they take me back to the tablecloths my grandma and my mum used to embroider with those beautiful ladies on them. I'm hoping I still have some of mums transfers 🤞
Thankyou for another beautiful video 💞
hope you can find them, thanks for watching
Your voice is so peaceful. My dementia roommate here in the nursing home she calms down as soon as I start learning. Thank you so much and yes I will be starting tomorrow morning.
Thank you so much for watching 🌸
Everytime I watch this video, I'm ready to start this project. I have soooooo many I need to have quilted, and several tops to finish.
I
Will be creating one for myself. I’ve created wuilts for all 5 children for their weddings. All 8 grands have a hand made hand quilted quilt.
Now time for myself . Your quote will be however , have to posted video kept me creating at the hotel 2 hours at least
One can never have true quilted art in their home.
I love this! I can imagine my great granddaughters handling such a quilt with love years later.
Oh how magnificent! Yours will be a true labor of love! Enjoy each and every stitch 🤗💙🙏
I’m so happy to hear this! I hope you love making it as much as I do. Thanks for watching
This will be my first quilting type project. I don’t really understand a sewing machine but I know how to sew by hand. My great grandma taught me about 19 years go now. Thank you for this gorgeous tutorial. 🥹🥰
so happy to hear you will give it a go!
Very pretty .lot of hard work has been done by you.kudos.
Thank you for showing an alternative to buying expensive templates ❤
Hi. You had me with your intro! Where I live, no one in the quilting guild likes slow hand stitching! It is such a comforting feeling to have found a like minded person! I love this quilt. I want to make one! Thank you!!!
So glad you enjoyed the video, I hope you do make one 😊
Ih my goodness! That is a lovely project. My mom always did beautiful handwork. Mine is not so nice but I do it because it helps me feel close to her. I think this pattern would make lovely baby quilts!
Thank you Jan! Yes it would be perfect for a baby quilt 😊
I live English paper quitting I have just re- kindled my love for quilting and I am make my Granddaughter a quilt. Really love what you have shown in this video the concept of the Two in one is new to me. Thank you for sharing your wonderful creative skills. 🌸🌸
Oh how lovely! That will be so special for your granddaughter. Thanks so much for watching
Oh, Emma. Surely that is a labor of love. Just beautiful. Thank you for letting me see your work.
Thank you Flossy
Emma, I love your project, especially the sweet embroidery and all the details.
Aww thank you! That’s so so kind
I loved fabrics you used, so delicate, so glad I found you.💖
Oh what a lovely comment! Thank you Barbara
I enjoy hand sewing and I think I have some house shaped templates that I will try to put together for a pillow
Great idea! I have some other shapes too. I could start those to see if I can even commit to a project like this or is this my next WIP. Do those and will have kick butt wall quilt for my sewing room 😁 if I miss working on it then it's a Go For Stitching! Bring on the hand sewing!
Ooo sounds lovely!
Looks adorable! Talk about a fantastic way to use up some batting scraps.
thank you! And yes, great for batting scraps, I should have mentioned that!
Thanks for watching Linda
I'm working on a hexie quilt now. The regular way. I've got 70 hexie flowers done. I like the quilt as you go hexie blocks.
That sounds wonderful
Lovely quilt!
Your fabrics are so pretty.
Your silver needle holder with deer and thimble so cute
I love this project ( and the potential to be never ending). Beautiful work!
Thank you so much!
OH! I've got to find that blue quilt to see all of it. I'm in love!
I’ve been letting my finished hexagons pile up thinking I’d have to sort and place them after they were all completed. Your example shows that it isn’t necessary to wait. I appreciate the close up instructions for ladder stitch attachment, too, really helpful for me. Thanks, Emma! ❤
So glad this was useful, thanks for watching 🌸
I adore this!! And thank u for saying use polyester thread! I've been telling people it's better because it's stronger for years and they always argue...my reply is always "really? Because I recall the cotton thread rotted out of my grandmothers polyester pants, but the pants fabric will outlive us all! " Lol
Ps. It's also the perfect quilt project because u could just do one for a coaster, ten or 15 for a table runner or even turn it into a tote bag... This is utterly marvelous!!!
Thank you so much for such kind words! You are right about polyester, it will last longer than cotton 😊🌸
Oh that sounds wonderful! 🌸
Thank you for such lovely words Karen. I’m so sorry you’ve been injured, wishing you all the best for your surgery, take care 🌸
That sounds lovely! Thanks so much for watching and for subscribing too 😊
Such a wonderful tutorial. I'm starting on this just as soon as my company heads home.
I am so happy to hear you are making one too! Thanks for watching
Beautiful work Emma. Hope you recovery continues along same lines and am sure your handwork will help you a lot. Take care x
Thank you ever so much Ann 😊🌸
This is an inspirational way to quilt - I've never quilted, but this might get me started!
You will really enjoy it, and it’s the perfect beginner project 🌸
Good to hear from you, after a while, I thought! Really admire your hand sewing projects
Thank you ever so much Nirupa

Eureka, I am glad I found your channel!
Thank you!
I made one of these for my granddaughter’s high school graduation. ❤️
What a lovely gift!
I think I will start one as soon as I'm finish with 3 quilts I'm making. I will use scraps from previous quilts I have made and do a wall hanging. You do lovely work.
Thank you Melanie
Wonderful idea and great inspiration! I think I will try one!! Thank you from Texas US!
oh that is lovely to hear! have fun making it and thank you for watching Judy
Fabrics Acufactum my love passion😍Thank you darling, abbracci from Italy
Thank you for sharing the idea x x
Hugs Sharon x
I’m so happy to hear that Sharon! I hope you love every stitch. Happy sewing 🧵
What a joy watching this was. Also you tiny pincushion and thimble holder is to die for. This whole video is eye candy
Thank you
oh thank you! so kind
I love long term sewing projects, i made a hexie quilt, 1040 hexagons….always had something to hand stitch.
This is so exciting just what I need an easy technique to make a quilt in a piece by piece method. No overwhelming here🎉 I can’t tell you the joy you have given me teaching me this amazing craft. I suffer mental and physical health problems and making saves me . Thankyou precious Emma . 💝
oh thank you so much Lisa, I am so sorry you are suffering with health problems, I am so glad making is helping you. Take care x
Love this! I’ve been looking for a method for hand sewing a memory quilt. And this IS IT! And I can add memories as I go. Love it. Thank you. Great video too ❤
So glad you liked it! Have fun making the quilt 😊
I am not sure I could make a quilt but I am thinking of using this technique for some placemats and coaxters
Oh yes it’s perfect for that! 😊
Love watch you sew such beautiful hexagon, I think I like making these are so lovely you can just make one at a time. You are a artist with such wonderful fabrics that you pick out for your projects
Oh thank you! That’s a lovely thing to say
Love your work… I’m a hand sewer and love the feel of the fabric in my hands….this has given me another idea..thank you so much…. Xxx
I am so glad it's given you some ideas Hilary, happy sewing x
Thank you for your tutorial Emma. Your quilt is beautiful. 💗
Thank you! 😊
I like your vintage colors and fabric choices. Also, that you add an embroidered design.
Thanks so much!
Beautiful Quilt , thank You for this Wonderful video .
I have so many quilt WIPs, and have been inspired by you to pick them up again…thank you for your lovely videos!
oh that is so lovely! I am so glad you are going to pick up your wips again. Thank you for watching!
Take care
