I think it's spooky Disney can do horror quite well I mean have you ever seen pinch before. this song isn't scary on its own but it does at a perfect segway to one of the freakiest scenes in kids' movie history. I am not saying this on the same level as adult horror movies or anything but for a kid's show, it's dark as hell. It is also kind of Erie in an old-timey half-ironic sort of way I mean imagine a real-life situation where you are walking all alone in the woods where a murder happened and then, suddenly hearing this music softly playing in the background growing loud and louder as you make your way further into the woods only for you to look up and realize the weird head-shaped fruit frood ''growing'' on the trees, isn't actually a fruit and than you hear what sounds like a horse galloping and a blood-curdling cackle.
"With a Hip Hip, And a Clippity Clop, He's out lookin' for a Head to swap. So don't try to figure out a plan. You can't reason with a headless MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN."
@@joelimitsuandyoshiI mean, in the original story, it is highly implied that Ichabod was killed, so I’m probably gonna say he IS dead, I’m sure not a lot of people survived a Headless Horseman, except for Brom.
xbourassa I know Disney didn't create the headless Horseman, Washington Irving did. All I'm saying is that if you think back to all the times that the heroes have defeated the villains in their respected Disney movie, the headless Horseman is the only one who actually did it historically.
The horseman was a Hessian mercenary, sent to these shores by German princes to keep Americans under the yoke of England, but unlike his compatriots who came for money, the Horseman came for the love of carnage. When battle was joined, there you'd find him. - Baltus van Tassel, Sleepy Hollow (1999)
The Headless Horseman is based on an Irish legend called the Dullahan ("without a head" in Irish). Dullahan is based on an Irish god called Crom Dubh. Crom Dubh translates from the Irish as " dark, crooked one". Crom Dubh itself is named Crom Cruach. Crom Cruach translates from the Irish for "King Idol of Ireland" He was a Pagan fertility god was associated with human sacrifice. That is why he is headless, kills people and is usually depicted in a dark and villainous manner it is also why we carve pumpkins and put flames in them (they were what he uses to kill). Pumpkins are associated with Halloween. He has his own Pagan festival in Ireland, which takes place on the nearest Sunday to August the 1st. In 2020, this was the 2nd of August.
We watched this in my 11th-grade American Literature class after reading "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." 🙂 Ever since, I have read the short story every Halloween.

I’m so irritated and sad to learn that the Headless Horseman won’t be at the Boo Bash this year because too many little ones found him “too scary” during the not so scary Halloween partys.
So, you're in an incestuous love triangle & your cousin tries to stop you from pursuing your female cousin out of petty jealousy or else, you're a gold-digging moocher posing as a well-educated man of culture who believes fervently in the supernatural, only to be scared out of your wits by the real deal before the entity either lets you escape so long as you never return or else, he decapitates you & mounts your head for his own?
Whoever sang the cover of this song did a good job and I imagine that Disney could've feature The Sanderson sisters to perform this song with him. What do you think?
The audio sounds like he sings the word hills, even though those are not the original lyrics. Assuming the captions are not from the uploader, but from Disney, it is possible that Disney changed the lyrics.
I was not aware of that. In the original song from the original movie, I thought it said “To find a head in the Hollow Hills” Because it was very hard to listen. I kinda understand better on the original now since I at least have an idea what Brom Bones is saying and as I’m replaying it, you are right.
I love it seeing different parts of the from the chase and the tale being heard great job from Kyle Van Campen favorite Halloween theme the Headless Horseman also singed by Bing Crosby the original singer to the song and the story teller 😃😍👍👂👀
I remember seeing this more in the Disney Halloween VHS special and I really enjoyed it especially the song but after watching the original special and 1950 I got to say while I like the revised I prefer the original
Brom bones is my old Disney brother from the movie that was cool and he and I singing that song years ago and now I am with Kay is my Disney brother now and me and Kay went exporlnig at outside and we go the picnic with him that is fun day
In both Disney's & Tim Burton's takes on the tale, it was the real ghost chasing Ichabod, not a disguised Brom Bones. In fact, in Burton's grimdark 1999 feature film, the reanimated cranium-challenged Hessian decapitates Brom Bones for poorly impersonating him & also kills Katrina Van Tassel for her coquettish ways, not to mention the fact that it was her family who were deliberately hiding his missing head from him whilst using his damned specter to do their dirty work to maintain their stranglehold on the small village for eons until the subterfuge was finally uncovered & the Headless Horseman slew everyone who wronged him, reclaimed his lost head (resembling a vampiric Christopher Walken), and returned to the underworld hellscape from whence he was spawned.
Someone please tell me what movie this was from? I always think about it during Halloween season, but can never find it, and I was starting to think I made this whole thing up
Well, the very original version is from Disney's Legend of Sleepy Hollow which came out in 1949. However this specific version came from a live action Disney sing-a-long which took place in the Haunted Mansion. I can't remember the name of it at the moment, but if you look it up I'm sure you'll find it. :)
Only Disney could make a song about decapitation.
The spanish version is really scary

A) The Headless Horseman wasn't real, he was just Brom Bones in disguise.
B) Brom Bones didn't kill Ichabod, he just scared him out of town.
