- We all know Sports Cards can get super expensive, but do you know what the most expensive and rarest cards are in the Topps 2021 Series 1 are? Out of all the Topps 2021 baseball cards, we'll break down what they are, just in case you want to do some PSA Grading to keep those cards in tip top shape. BTW, I know it's Tah-Tees and not Tay-Tis now, this is an oooooold video.

I find it hard to believe that cards with only 25 in existence can only be worth 1500. Those are going to be insanely valuable if those rookies become all stars one day. Love to Canada from Chicago 🇺🇸❤
Right? As time goes on they'll appreciate in value (as long as they play well). Alec Bohm and Ke'Bryan Hayes are the ones to watch. A lot of the major rookies in this set have been struggling, although Cristian Pache is still doing well. Saw him playing against the Jays this week and he played really solidly so I think he's a rookie to watch next to Bohm for sure!

@@KingKuba1313 it’s why it’s mainly speculation. Just like stocks. A rookie that’s worth nothing now could be a hall of famer, but Bohm could have his art explode and never play again. So it’s all risk. Like could sell now make money and it be worth a million 30 years from now, or could hold onto it and be worth ten bucks. It’s tough as a collector, and worse as an investor

Haha yeah I hadn't heard his name via announcers or anything else, and I'm from Canada, so I'm not as familiar with Latin names as I am say French names :P Hence why I'll say Abreu like "A-bro" instead of "A-bray-oo". But I'm getting better now that I'm catching all the Jays games and hearing names haha.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm still fairly new to the hobby, but I know some people might not be willing to pay for the Beckett subscription. Obviously a lot of these are like 1/10 kind of cards and almost impossible to get, but there's some amazing cards in this series, although I hope with 2022 they make the text bigger for cards. 2021 has been tiny and it's a pain to read with my setup for recording :P If you have any suggestions for other Topps sets you're curious about, let me know and I can see what I can do!

@@CanadianCardPickers hell yeah brother ! I think donruss is a interesting set due to the awesome looking inserts and laser cards ? But they don't have that baseball licensing I'm new to collecting baseball cards aswell so I'll be interested to see what you find out man. Best of luck

As a heads up, I'm aware of mispronunciation on various players names. I was just getting into Baseball and cards and hadn't heard their names pronounced in live baseball yet. If you follow you'll see I have better accuracy on most names, with some just being out there. Beer is easy, same with Bacon.
It's also Bow-m, not Bom and Pash-ay , not pash. Honestly thought it was on purpose because it was the first 3 guys you covered haha. Great video though, thanks for doing this!
@@depew33 Yeah this was almost right after I started c ollecting, so I hadn't heard their names in any broadcasts. I actually looked up Pache and apparently it's Pah-Chay but I think either is close haha. And yeah I used to say Bomb but now I say Bohm. Although Luis Robert I heard a broadcaster say Row-Bear instead of Robert so now I'm just lost. :P I am working on an updated video to come out in the next couple weeks. Same format but will be updated for Series 2 as well as any changes. I also will remove the repetition of Bohm and some others so I'll lump stuff like Mother's/Father's day into one or that kind of thing if the price point is basically the same.

I pulled a Mountcastle mothers day desert Camo / 25 from a Blaster box I got at Target.

I opened a hanger box of topps 2021 series two and pulled a rookie card of nick madrigal 86 design black par Jersey card numbered 107/199.
Nice! You can always check eBay to see what people have sold for if they have. It can take a while for prices to get collected on sites like beckett

I would assume so. Hanger boxes do have really good value compared to other boxes just in their general odds.
I pulled the Mountcastle SSP RC from Series one. I sold it for $155 raw lol. I also pulled a Lindor 35th Anniversary red Parallel numbered 5/10 and sold that for $15. Not a Lindor fan

Yeah, the Pache and Tatis pronunciations (with a few other minor ones) got to me. Getting the top names is going to be important.

Pretty unlikely. Plus value may have changed and I know there’s some flaws in this video. If you want specific cards though you’ll want to buy singles instead of packs. More cost effective for sure
Where do you buy packs in Canada for baseball? Feel like a lot of places are over priced. I'm from Ontario
Pastimesports.ca is my go to. A four store LCS in the lower mainland BC. Pretty good prices I’ve found and good supply. I think out here baseball isn’t as popular out there (come on Athletics! Come here lol) but check them out they ship all over and I find their prices match elsewhere. A hobby box of 2021 series 2 is like 169? Don’t quote me though can’t remember on top of my head haha
I’ve also be suuuuuper lucky in my pulls from them haha so take that as an irrelevant tidbit haha

Those are hard to price since there’s only one haha Beckett basically checks latest auction prices and such and uses those. You’d have to compare other similar cards and take into consideration the player and other factors. They are rarer but value is harder to pinpoint cause of that
The mike trout with no auto is that much?
Yeah, specifically because it's a Super Short Print of Mike Trout. Mike Trout is such a great player, one of the greats, and SSPs are naturally scarce, put those together and you get high demand. I think also there's some novelty to the nature of the mask and covid that you wouldn't find in any other set so that adds some interest to it long term. ie: "From the Covid Pandemic year".

I’m sorry I got so excited I forgot the name . Haha it’s Alec Bohm #277 . Also what about his Topps chrome #119 card that’s kind of similar to his #277 card I noticed some with a pink border and some with the blue border. Was there just less printed #277s then there was #119. Thanks man

Novice (possibly stupid) question. I see complete sets on ebay for like $100 for the 2021 set (teal). Would I find any of these in there, or what? If so, why would anyone sell the set for $100 when just 1 of these cards would rake in so much more???
So the complete set is all just base cards. As opposed to getting a chance at autographs or anything like that. You'll only get these if you're opening packs. The complete set is more for collectors of complete sets who want all the base cards from the set and aren't worried about say a vladdy auto or something like that :)

@@CanadianCardPickers do you think the hobby boxes are completely worth it? I got the series 1 for $145 at my local card shop. Wanna go back next week and buy more stuff but I’m just now getting back into collecting cards.
@@Holtyyy guess it depends, if you like the thrill of it it’s worth it, if you wanna invest then singles are the way to go. Blaster boxes can be decent and hanger boxes. Go with whatever you’re comfortable with :)

Pretty much! Although it'll be interesting to see how the prices adjust with their performance over the next couple of years. That big of a contract for Tatis and if he underperforms who knows. Alec is likely to be more volatile though, most rookies are. If he doesn't meet expectations, he'll probably fall down a bit. Thanks for watching btw! :)

If you got a 2021 Topps Memorial Day Camo #277 Alec Bohm with an auto it'd be worth a lot. Keep in mind Rookie values fluctuate depending on performance, so if Bohm were to underperform long term, could drop a lot. But yeah, Bohm is always valuable :)

I will say this video is a bit off in some ways. What I recommend is checking sold eBay listings for that specific card and you’ll see the latest price. These prices were all based on beckett and some are a bit out there lol but still dope! If you have 17 or 76 out of 76 it’s a bit more than other /76 cards

I haven’t seen him play a lot and the fact he was traded does mean he’s not a golden child, but I always recommend checking out baseball reference where it shows their stats and how they did last season. Helps inform potential imho

Yeah, I'm used to French, so without an accent it'd be "Pash". Any future videos I say "Pashay". The downside to learning names from reading, and not being familiar with Spanish names :P I also know It's "Tah-Tees" not "Tay-Tis" now. Live and learn right? haha

I would think the orange chrome dylan carlson would make the list.
There's quite a few Serialized cards that are more expensive, but he could increase as his performance improves. $200-500 for his Orange Refractor AU/Ser card, so still worth quite a bit, but not as much as other serialized cards. Do you have one of those, cause that'd be rad! I just got my first Auto, but it'll be in an upcoming video soon so keep an eye out! :P
@@CanadianCardPickers so I decided to invest in baseball cards and I bought 1 jumbo box. I pulled that card from the silver pack. I'm considering myself very fortunate for someone who just started their investment. The auto I pulled is nate pearson and I also pulled a nick madrigal /99. I immediately placed all my valuable in one touch then placed that in a team bag. I won't sell anything until 10 years so that hopefully I can make a killing.

Worth waiting. Right now a lot of grading is backlogged. A lot of people getting into the hobby. So PSA isn't even accepting. But also some have minimum requirements. ie: 10 cards minimum, 15-20 bucks per card. Worth just putting away and keeping in impeccable condition and then see how things are in a couple years.

You should know how to pronounce the players names before you shoot your program...just a rhought
I do now. My focus is just relaying info to other new collectors and the like. This was filmed back in April so I know most players names. I hadn’t heard most pronunciations and will occasionally mix a name up still but it’s about the love of the name and not necessarily acing player names.
Hard to watch a video when the host mispronounces all the names. Alec Bohm, Fernando Tatis Jr, Cristian Pache and you even screwed up Ke' Bryan Hayes. I know this was a year ago but Alec Bohm, really? Do you even watch baseball live?
This is a year old video and before I started collecting cards I didn't watch baseball live at the time. Some constructive criticism is that your constructive criticism comes off very judgmental and if I was a newer person getting into the sport or hobby, that negativity could drive them away or feeling non-included. I'm all about people providing constructive criticism to me or one another so we can become better collectors, but the way you've phrased this is like a flex and judging me so I don't really want to give it much more time. We can critique people without coming across as snarky/pretentious. Cheers.

Made the video prior to having heard any of their names, so I'm going off reading. A lot of baseball names are Spanish in origin and I'm more familiar with French pronunciation. At the end of the day, it's about the cards and collecting and not a names and etymology channel :P
