We have a Pomelo tree here in California. HUGE pomelos but not sweet. Our white spongee pith is far thicker and actually a tiny bit sweet. The membrane around the fruit slices is bitter though. I have recently experimented with trying to figure out how to use them. Ours are a bit too sour to eat the fruit alone.
Awesome! Yes there are a couple of varieties of yellow pomelo. Yellow/pink and yellow/yellow. :) Both are yummy! This one is the honey pomelo which will be yellow/yellow. Glad you found my channel too!
I have a pomelo tree as well, but its fruit is very sour(i think it's called Assembly Pomelo, not sure). On a scale of 1(water) to 10(sugar), how sweet is this Honey Pomelo variety?
Tried it just now for the first time in my life. Hands down THE worst fruit, if it can even be considered a fruit. Dry and bitter/sour. The flavour was not even that strong but I could not finish it. Could it just not be ripe?
@@inthekitchenwithmatt yeah im not sure it was my first one, not very juicy, it was kinda dry, slightly bitter. I ended up juicing it and got maybe like 200ml of juice tops, that juice tasted good though.
I ate one just now. It was sweet. The peel or the skin is indeed bitter. It is much more tasty with a bit of salt.
Yes you don't want to eat the white part or the peel that is indeed bitter. Glad you tried it!!
The one I bought today is actually this Honey variety. Look forward to trying it. It's good to know it's not bitter.
Awesome!!
That is exactly how I intuitively ate it. Like an orange but less sweet and very dry.
Great!

There are a handful of varieties of pomelo, I wonder what yours is. This and the other one on my channel are great!
Which region are you from and when did you pick it? If picked early, often it will be sour.
Mine was yellow on the outside but very much pink like a green one on the inside! I’m very happy I found your channel

I like the way you peel the pomelo, IMO it's the best way of peeling it
Thanks! :)
Have you try Thaï pomelo salad ? I think you will love it !
Not yet, will have to try it sometime.
I have a pomelo tree in california, its white inside and very bitter and sour, not sweet, can’t just eat it, any recipes or any suggestions.
It may just be a specific variety. Have you waited until peak ripeness to eat them?
Thank you for helping me to appreciate a gift from a friend. ❤
You are very welcome!! :)

There are several varieties of pomelo, this particular one is probably 5 to 6 in sweetness. Pretty much no bitterness at all.
Omg why is that so expensive lol. We can get 3 different varieties all priced under $3 Canadian here in Vancouver.
I know right? so expensive here
My pomelo just taste bland with a small hint of sour :(
You may have gotten an unripe one. It shouldn't be bland.
I love pomelos, but my last two pomelos were dried out and the vesicles were hard! 😮🤔
Yeah they can be hit or miss
I just bought one for the first time, it's about the same size and was like $1.85. I'm here to learn how to eat it 😂
Awesome and good price!
Di Indonesia namanya Jeruk Bali
Cool!
Super
Thanks!!
Hey zaddy lol good morning 🌞

$8 - uh, NO!
hahaha it's worth it and you get a lot of fruit. They can get cheaper than that.
I got it for 3 but its from China😂 i first thought it was a melon

hmmm yeah it sounds like it wasn't ripe. When ripe they are sweet and full of flavor.
It's very bitter
Yours may not have been ripe. They shouldn't be bitter
not very tasty.
Maybe the one you tried wasn't ripe. I find them very tasty. But I also really really like citrus especially grapefruit and pomelos

Definitely give it another try sometime! Also try the green variety tool, green skin and pink flesh.@@wingsoftwitchbots5613
