As the MPAA has not rated this film, I will take it upon myself. This film would receive (from me) a PG-13 for Brief Intense Violence, Peril, Thematic Elements, and some suggestive content. If you’re a parent I still recommend this film, it’s far better for families (despite the rating) than most modern Hollywood films aimed at families. It’s thoughtful, intriguing, heartfelt, but it doesn’t stray away from the darker elements of nature. The Political themes are dealt with far more grace and nuance than most Western films these days. The score is masterfully composed by the late Shinohara Keisuke and adds a great richness to the picture. However, some of the content is not appropriate for younger children. Also, beware! There are some...undertones...in this film, just so you know.
