We are now approaching the "uncanny" era of Scott's musings. Cuz y'see, this one isn't ancient history, no sir--this is the same ad i got in the mail during my senior year of college, that sat in my apartment bathroom for a month. I don't just remember seeing it, but having & holding multiple copies (1 was handed to me with my Xenoblade Chronicles X special edition preorder receipt). It's not a wistful, hazy memory either, like toys r us ads or the JCPenny enormous catalogue. This is a "wasn't that just yesterday?" feeling. Only now I realize it was 8 years ago. Man, time flies.
Black Friday just doesn't hit the same anymore. I remember even as a kid the excitement of going to Walmart at 6am with my mom and coming home with a video game and some DVDs. Now you have to pay me to get out of bed at 6am
@@fredmeyer1044 nah man, there were those you mentioned, can't forget about Batman Arkham Knight, Metal Gear Solid 5, Bloodborne, Witcher 3! Fully stacked, unless you hate those games!
I know it's Christmas time when Scott looks at years old Holiday ad campaigns. Hope there's one or 2 more of these in the pipeline. I rewatched the other Christmas ones just a few days ago lol.
i remember using the Pre-Apple Beats headphones, yeah they sound great & the sound isolation is amazing... but also they can double as a medieval torture device with how hard they clamp on your skull, also they're heavy
War flashbacks, I worked this Black Friday at my Gamestop store, it was one of the last ones I was subjected to, I remember people going crazy for some of this stuff. I remember staying hours late to set this up, I remember those stupid Tony Hawk earbuds, getting screamed at because we ran out of the cheap PS4's, all of it brings back that odd kind of nostalgia where I hate every single moment of it fondly.
What an insanely nostalgic list of stuff. In December 2015 I had just gotten my first job at a movie theatre and that zelda 3ds xl was the first console I bought with my own money. My dad got us that Ps4 bundle for christmas. It was a good year.
i remember xmas 2015 was huge for me, i got a boatload of 3DS games and got a wii u for the first time, and it's so funny looking back and seeing how absolutely weird the market was at the time
The GameStop Black Friday deal in 2015 was actually decent for systems like Wii U, used Wiis, PS3, Xbox 360, and the PS Vita, because I bought the Vita and played some games on it, but it was the LCD model that was hard to mod because of the firmware! My friend was able to mod the Vita and put SNES games on it! Now the Vita is like a collectors item, because how underrated the system is, Sony should’ve not used those infamous memory cards! That’s what killed the Vita.
I don’t know why you would keep this, but I still watched it. There’s something about Scott talking about old ads that really puts me in the holiday spirit
Seeing Transformers Devastation on sale in general was really surreal, considering its history. Now I want to see Scott be able to talk about the game in a video, that would be an interesting watch
It's still crazy and, quite frankly, stupid how those are pretty much the best-selling games of their systems, heck even among the best selling games of all-time, yet so freaking hard to get for decent prices (largely because millions of people got nostalgic for DS-era Pokemon games recently and modern Pokemon doesn't seem to have the best future ahead).

At my local Walmart a few years ago for some reason found a copy of the PS2 GTA Trilogy for $20 among the shelves and i bought it since it was the only copy available at the time. A bargain for sure lol
You fool! The demon of babylon has disguised himself with the coat of the righteous. Worse yet, I sold Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright to him and probably got $20 max.
i remember in 2015 going to best buy with my dad buying my brother a xbox one and while we were in the store, i was begging him to also buy me a ps4 that day, and he said “you already have a wii u” and i was really disappointed
Ngl, I have that Pokémon bath robe and use it every day. I also bought it for $10, not $40 like two months later. I needed a bath robe and $10 was the right price. To be fair, it's held up extremely well for almost daily brief use
Beats actually aren't bad right now since they are made by apple. I recently got the studio buds pro or plus or whatever they call them and they are pretty good.
With the whole "Skylanders nostalgia boom" thing you mentioned, unfortunately the chips in the figures are battery based and all the data relevant to that toy is lost when it dies. The thing is, a lot of them are starting to die already so I don't think they'll last 10 years. (Yes you could theoretically replace the battery, but that requires breaking the base of the toy, and if the battery needs to be replaced, the data AND the the actual identifier for what character it is is already lost. Imagine losing both the savedata AND the ability to play the game at all in a pokemon cart the moment the battery dies. That's the situation with skylanders.)
You ever just live life, then realize you're watching a 32 minute minute video of white boy hold up a 2015 GameStop ad to his carpet floor. And enjoying it.
Definitely nostalgia talking for me here but i kind of enjoyed the previous generation more than this one. Of course there's still great games coming out now, and there were flops back then, but to me it felt there was a lot more variety in the gaming market as whole. Looking forward to anything new for 3DS AND Wii U, Toys-to-Life, so many major new releases like Wolfenstein, MGS5, Super Mario Maker, Xenoblade X... Maybe it doesn't help that at the moment the current Nintendo system is winding down, but I am just not interested in the Playstation or Xbox side of things like I used to be in 2015...
