My club Nintendo experience: I would buy the game and put in the disc. I didn't look at anything else in the box. I barely even looked at the box. I didn't know what club Nintendo was until it shut down. At that point I was like, "Well, crap."
It's a shame they majorly nerfed My Nintendo after having it replace Club Nintendo, having that physical aspect to spending your points is so cool and while posters are cool, i wish we could have more
The physical My Nintendo stuff is a little niche, my post recent purchase was a Kirby carry pouch and a Detective Pikachu coffee cup holder. They’re on the right track but could use a little more time to get something cool out
I think it was really cool but i feel like for most normal customers the allure of physical things to open up definitely dies out as they get older. If i had a penny for the amount of people in Club Nintendo's time who didnt keep game cases and used those wallets and stuff, I'd have a good bit more money. At the end of the day, i think it was right for what it was- a small club that was a neat bonus you would get with games that could probably be ignored. Sadly, Nintendo obviously wanted to expand beyond just "hey you can ignore this" so the whole physical rewards system and philosophy and the "wow that's cool" factor had to go in place of something that made *everyone's* life easier if they used it. ...now if only they actually accomplished that goal with My Nintendo, maybe this wouldnt have been such a heart-breaking goodbye. :p
I don’t know if I remember this right but I think someone found an exploit in the system to get tons of stuff and a lot of people found out about I I don’t know though

I live in the UK and whilst I remember there being some really cool physical items being advertised through the club, they were nearly impossible to get hold of because they were made in such limited quantities and would sell out immediately. We got terrible stuff for Club Nintendo except for that bowser statue. I remember I was hunting for that Mario Kart trophy for a long time. The Japanese Club Nintendo stuff was incredible! RIP
My fave club Nintendo reward was my three gold collectible coins for the 3 RPGs. Xenoblade, last story and Pandora's tower. ( We also got a cardboard sleeve for the three games. ) The coins were ina special case and were very cool.
The game card case was my baby i used to carry that around with me all the time up until i lost it one day at school with my entire 3ds library. 9 years later as an adult I finally rebuilt my entire library over time just not putting them all in one case lol.
Actually I think my Nintendo has some pretty good rewards. I here a Mario kart lanyard I use, but the most useful thing I have is a case for my games, it’s a switch box with some my Nintendo art on it, it holds 8 games, I constantly use it when I go on trips.
I miss Club Nintendo but more because of their digital offerings, as someone who doesn't live in north America the physical rewards were never an option, it's sad that now MyNintendo technically exists officially here but we don't have physical rewards available
Those handheld history cards are super charming. It'd be cool to see other companies do some similar stuff. Xbox and Playstation, specifically. Not necessarily for points or stars or whatever, but sending out a little a magazine, sticker pack, cards, or whatever PSN or Live subscribers. With the prices of their online service already being pretty high and occasionally increasing, sending just a little something out to people who either buy a year or maintain a monthly subscription for a year would at least feel both like you're getting something special AND that they are celebrating their history. It'd cost pennies and fans love that kind of stuff. It'd likely even drive up subs, even if it's just a small amount.
The A button on the Wii remote controller is a channel up button for basic channel surfing, while on the D-pad, up and down are for channel control, left and right are for volume, and the home button is an off timer, a feature that allows you to turn your tv off at a specific time. Can’t read what the plus and minus button are sadly but yeeee
im a lil surprised scott didnt mention the mario paint medley being on the smash 4 CDs. that song actually wasnt in the base game, only being added in the june update in 2015. the CDs shipped out in january, so it was the only way to listen to a then unused song for a while.
I remember pre-club nintendo, they had this forum that i was SO devastated about losing when they got rid of it for club nintendo. club nintendo was still the better deal (even the american one) I still use my 3ds 18 cart carrying case lmao

Prior to Club Nintendo the US used to have another reward program known as MyNintendo (not related to the current MyNintendo that replaced Club Nintendo present day). The old MyNintendo would sometimes give free rewards like stickers and posters that matched whatever game you registered. The old MyNintendo was also used as one of the two alternate methods to get The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition and Metroid Prime 2 Echoes Bonus Disc on Gamecube if you didn't want to buy the Gamecube bundle sets sold at retail (the other alternate method was subscribing/renewing to Nintendo Power magazine).
I have the DS game holder that let you display your DS game cases in a bookshelf-like format, where the endcaps are mario hats. It's pretty cute, and functional! I always put my favorite DS games in it to display
I was able to get a few of these rewards back then but I wasn't able to buy a lot of games due to my very limited budget then. Missed out on some things I really wanted. Nintendo didn't have to do all this but it was cool that they did.
From memory.. The best I got was a cool soundtrack and book set - Nintendo Sounds Selection (endings and Credits).. A couple of Zelda faux leather bags. A Stylus set. A 3ds wallet.. A Mario hat shaped 3ds case.
i bought that super famicom club nintendo controller back then as soon as i knew they got that as a reward..still have it today...thing was/is still cool to have with wii being a emulation machine
I was big on club Nintendo just before it ended. I mostly used it for the 3ds game card cases and retro game downloads for the Wii U. It was clearly underrated, because most used games I purchased still had unused codes. I actually...... went into used game stores and took pictures of codes the last week it was active. And redeemed them for prizes. They woulda gone to waste! And it didn't matter how many Wii Fit codes I submitted, it gave me points every time! Don't judge me! I also made it a point to complete my Nintendo DS collection before Club Nintendo ended. Because it was a really good sign when buying a used DS game if it had an authentic Club Nintendo code in the case. There was, and still is, alot of fake DS games out there and they can be difficult to spot. Obviously an authentic Club Nintendo code didn't 100% guarantee that the game was authentic, but it was definitely a reassuring sign.
I have a lot of special memories with Club Nintendo. Those 8-bit Mario pins especially. Long story short, my little sister wanted a few of the pins, so I let her have some. Cut to a few years later and she's sadly no longer with us. My family was cleaning up her room sometime after that, and among other things they find one of those pins I gave her. The 8-bit Blooper. It was dented, but otherwise still good. She still held onto it all this time. I keep the pin on my favorite jacket to remember her by.
18:33 One time I tried plugging in my SNES mini controller into a Wii remote and played Kirby's Dream Land 3 on Dream Collection and it actually worked. I guess this accessory explains why...
That's why they used those proprietary connectors for the Classic consoles instead of just USB. I don't have either of the Classic systems but you can probably do the reverse, plugging a Wii Classic Controller into a SNES Classic should work as a controller.
I remember checking Club Nintendo one day after school and seeing Kid Icarus AR cards available for free. The crazy thing is that these were some of the few cards released in North America. By the way, several comments have mentioned that the LM poster glows in the dark but so does the Majora's Mask puzzle.
That collection of Famicom games for the GBA is THE BEST OF THE BEST, I LOVE SEEING THAT THING EVER SINCE I SAW IT ON THE NES CLASSICS VIDEO ❤️❤️❤️ Also, Seeing that messed up Mario Sprite at 22:43 is SO Hilarious 😂
I was a sneaky SOB. I used to open the cases in GameStop (the ones they had to advertise the games, not the new ones) and those cases would still have the codes. So I’d take a pic of the code and just kept getting free stuff from Club Nintendo
Except if you live in any of the Nordic countries, the games and systems came with the code cards, but it wasn’t available here because Nintendo doesn’t sell directly, they use a company called Bergsala. My Nintendo did come here and was great, at first with 3DS themes, some games and apps plus discounts on Wii U and 3DS. Now we don’t have anything other that icons to use the platinum coins on, because there is no shipping option for physical rewards here. 🥺
Great video Scott. I liked your update video yesterday too. I know most of us only know you as a great content creator, but you are just a person like a lot of us. Don't burn yourself out. But we appreciate the great content
i have that pin set and its really just sitting there doing nothing. i have played around with it enough to know the other patterns. but when you put it back together i knew it looked off. Started to flip and i noticed mario is not near the top of the pole... i knew it was coming but it still gave me a chuckle. i did the exact thing before 😂 i missed out on the first game and watch collection, so i got the second one. as much as i liked parachut and octopus i wanted donkey kong much more. got the japanese ver on ebay - eng was way too expensive. played dk till i got 999 then quit. green house i am not as good or interested. never had oil panic as a kid so that didnt do much for me. Club nintendo was great, but my nintendo is starting to catch on. i have these cool keychains that look like n64 game boxes. just got a set of the pins that look like the coins. cant wait for a video on that.
It didn't look that great when displaying, and compared to the awesome 3d Mario statue you could get for platinum rewards from a different year, pins were lame
Great selection. The GC controllers are absolutely awesome. I'm still missing the Wario variant and the Club Nintendo Wavebird, but they are really hard to find and super expensive. The 8-bit Mario plush is another reward that I really like, and my absolute favorite must be the Gameboy Micro player II cover for the 20th anniversary Super Mario edition. We didn't get rewards like that in Europe either.
I got a "history of mario" poster from Club Nintendo back then, showed like the sprites/renders from the original up until I believe Galaxy. Was an easy trade when I went to the Torg expo :D
I have two 18-card cases for 3ds games, 3 posters from mario all stars 3d, and a gold & platinum pin set. I really wanted the 3ds xl charging station, but the 2 or 3 runs they added to the store instantly sold out.
I got the playing cards. They were decent. I remember being so depressed at the fact that we couldn't get a extra 3ds, especially since I had enough points at the time.
There was an expensive Europe only Animal Crossing wrist watch which I could never find on eBay. The only info I could find was the wiki and a random article from like 2010-2012 or something announcing its release. Anyone know anything about it? Maybe something Scott should add to the collection. 😂
I love these. I'm not sure why this is even a side channel. Some of these floor vids just hit different. I guess cause I lived them and wanted to make them myself.
They released the Wii Super Nintendo controller in Europe on Club Nintendo too. I still have mine. I’ve noticed Scott only ever mentions it being a Japanese release in videos it’s brought up
I got that 3ds Pouch and a Luigi blanket, but best of tehm all the 3DS Catridge Cases double sided. Still holding my collection today and MyNintendo released switch versions too which i also got two of, they are single sided but still enough.
Hey we did get the little statue with all the main Mario characters one year, and it came in the box designed like and item box! I still keep that one on display in my game room!
I got the smash bros soundtrack at half-price books for $3. A miraculous find for a kid who didn't have the money to buy both copies of smash. Also, Japan's my.nintendo is still EONS ahead of North America. It's worth a browse if you feel like being envious

Are you referring to the Nsider forums?
@@savageofdebt2434 YEAH THATS IT I've been trying to remember the name, 12 year old me who shouldn't have been on the forums was so convinced nintendo destroyed it because of club nintendo. still kinda sad it wasn't very well archived
I loved how Nintendo did this stuff
I was able to get a few of these rewards back then but I wasn't able to buy a lot of games due to my very limited budget then. Missed out on some things I really wanted. Nintendo didn't have to do all this but it was cool that they did.
From memory.. The best I got was a cool soundtrack and book set - Nintendo Sounds Selection (endings and Credits).. A couple of Zelda faux leather bags. A Stylus set. A 3ds wallet.. A Mario hat shaped 3ds case.
The timing of this coming out with Nintendo having real life salmon run gear only in Japan is fitting and sad.
i bought that super famicom club nintendo controller back then as soon as i knew they got that as a reward..still have it today...thing was/is still cool to have with wii being a emulation machine
Something that would be cool to see is a room tour of his new game room
"I've seen cheese with better packaging"
Brilliant Scott, just brilliant.
scott has more nintendo history than the nintendo history museum in the NYC nintendo store.
Nostalgia is one hell of a thing.
My 3 favorite CN rewards I got are as follows in order:
Majora's Mask Soundtrack
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
I always went for the posters - my college dorm room was filled with posters from Club Nintendo.
my favorite thing about the luigi's mansion dark moon poster is that the ghosts glow in the dark. that's such a nice touch
I would love a scott stash video where scott goes over all his games on other consoles he ownes playstation etc
Damn Scott owns video games that’s nuts
22:44 - God Tier Comedy
Those handheld cards are really cool. Great to display the handhelds with the cards in a game room.
That collection of Famicom games for the GBA is THE BEST OF THE BEST, I LOVE SEEING THAT THING EVER SINCE I SAW IT ON THE NES CLASSICS VIDEO ❤️❤️❤️
Also, Seeing that messed up Mario Sprite at 22:43 is SO Hilarious 😂
The ghost on the Luigi's Mansion poster glow in the dark. Love that poster.
take a shot everytime he says “back in the day”
I was a sneaky SOB.
Back when they gave out the pin set as the platinum reward, Nintendo sent me two. I felt so lucky to have two sets of them.
Great video Scott. I liked your update video yesterday too. I know most of us only know you as a great content creator, but you are just a person like a lot of us. Don't burn yourself out. But we appreciate the great content
We need a Scott club that just talks about Scott the woz
I have the Club Nintendo Mario Hanafuda cards and I love them
i have that pin set and its really just sitting there doing nothing. i have played around with it enough to know the other patterns.
but when you put it back together i knew it looked off. Started to flip and i noticed mario is not near the top of the pole... i knew it was coming but it still gave me a chuckle. i did the exact thing before 😂
i missed out on the first game and watch collection, so i got the second one. as much as i liked parachut and octopus i wanted donkey kong much more.
got the japanese ver on ebay - eng was way too expensive. played dk till i got 999 then quit. green house i am not as good or interested. never had oil panic as a kid so that didnt do much for me.
Club nintendo was great, but my nintendo is starting to catch on. i have these cool keychains that look like n64 game boxes. just got a set of the pins that look like the coins. cant wait for a video on that.
5th grade me felt like such a badass with that bowser jr. folder
That pin set is amazing, not sure how people thought that was lame
It didn't look that great when displaying, and compared to the awesome 3d Mario statue you could get for platinum rewards from a different year, pins were lame
My thoughts too
Great selection. We didn't get rewards like that in Europe either.
i rather see scott's stash videos than regular scott the woz ones and i love scott the woz
I got so many points off of the games people would trade in back in the day that never got redeemed!
4:34 I too have felt drawers for controllers, but wouldn't have thought to use the Wii Remote holders in there. Glad I don't have those.
have u considered framing all the handheld cards and making like a cool collage of the framed cards on a wall?
I've never seen a luigi controller in the box before. That's incredible.
LUIGI CONTROLLER
Here in Europe we had this SNES Controller for Wii as well and I'm so glad that I got one of them back in the day 🤗
I got the playing cards.
I’ve noticed Scott only ever mentions it being a Japanese release in videos it’s brought up
I used those cards to decorate my bedroom as a kid.
Definitely frame that club nintendo poster. you already know that.
I used to go into GameStop and take pictures of the club Nintendo cards in the preowned cases on the shelf
I got that 3ds Pouch and a Luigi blanket, but best of tehm all the 3DS Catridge Cases double sided. Still holding my collection today and MyNintendo released switch versions too which i also got two of, they are single sided but still enough.
22:47 LOL
Hey we did get the little statue with all the main Mario characters one year, and it came in the box designed like and item box! I still keep that one on display in my game room!
I got the smash bros soundtrack at half-price books for $3. A miraculous find for a kid who didn't have the money to buy both copies of smash. Also, Japan's my.nintendo is still EONS ahead of North America. It's worth a browse if you feel like being envious
Another classic I still have some stuff from club Nintendo also I miss it. I have the smash 4 soundtrack on my shelf still
I do think that the Majora's Mask CD presents value because none of that stuff is officially released on digital platforms
I remember when I would buy 3DS games I get the little flyers and some like doing club Nintendo and I'm like what the heck is that it kind of just brushed it off. I'd probably have points out of the wazoo I lived through the Wii U and I loved it.
