I agree these 90s legends going up even more. People drooling over these cars growing up are now getting to the point of being able to have enough money to buy clean unmolosted one and willing to pay a premium for them
Agreed. Only going up from here
they are very rare to find ones with low miles that havent had 5+ owners and have been ran hard.
The 3k is so underated you rarely see it but when you do, it turns heads left and right👌🏼
Happens every time I take it out. Awesome car to have
Every time I take mine to a cars n coffee, or cruise in, its the only one there. They're definitely unique, and getting rarer by the year.
I got my Stealth RT TT 2 years ago and I will never look back. By far my favorite car I’ve ever owned.
We got our 3S around the same time!
It's nice to see people love the 3000GT. Such a rare car.
I'm about to drop 50k on a stock pristine 99 VR-4. Best car of the 90s.
Glad to hear! Take care of it
Recently got a 97 3000gt non-turbo. As my first car, it's probably a bad decision. But to me, I think of it as an opportunity to grow. Love your videos and the inspiration to not give up on something
That’s how I started! Good luck with your 3S!
I got a 91 3000gt sl as my first car, and it’s not horribly reliable but it’s an old car so that’s gotta be expected. But I sold it and always regretted selling it. Good luck on it and just have fun👍
my first car when i was 16 was a 96 base model 3000gt automatic. i pulled alot of strange because of that car. i envy you my friend. enjoy these times
3000GT non turbo is very nice aswell and MUCH lighter than VR4
damn this video just changed my mind, I was thinking of selling my 92 vr4 but now after watching this I've decided to just keep the car. Amazing video bro and thank you!!!!!
Honestly, your videos were a big part of the reason I eventually went and bought a 94 GTO, thanks for giving me the confidence!
Glad to hear 🙏🏻 take care of it. It’s a special car
the thought that its underrated is more than enough to own one.
I got my first AWD TT Stealth in December of 2022. At the time of writing this comment there’s still a lot of snow where I am and I cannot wait until the weather warms up so I can get it out on the road!
Just picked up a stock 94 base 3000gt with 60k miles ! Such a pleasure to drive... can't wait to build it up over the years.
I love the content. Definitely love what you're doing for the platform of 3kgts
Appreciate that! Glad to showcase them a lot more
A 3000GT VR-4 already hit $100,000 my brother. It was an ultra low mileage 99’ model, that hammered on a Bohnams auction for $100,499 back in February of 2022.
These cars are starting to gain the respect of their classic Japanese brethren and it’s well deserved. The 300ZX Twin Turbo (Z32) and FD also deserve much of the praise they get now too. Two cars I’ll never part with are my Starion/Conquest, and my 1rst gen 3000GT VR-4.
Awesome video and very true. I took on a project non turbo and now it’s running but I did have a hard time finding a mechanic. I’ve done a lot to it myself but the internal engine work I stay away lol. The car gets attention and thumbs up very true as well. Keep up the good work bro!!!
I think it is a good idea as well to start with a non turbo model. When people ask me if I recommend a mustang as a first car I say no. I tell them to start with either a v6 model or even better a 2v or 3v still a v8 but not too much power like a coyote
Most don’t want to go through that hassle and learn the hard way
Great video, I personally owned 3 DSM’s and had them at 400 wheel hp. They are so unreliable, but I loved when they worked. I went from the most unreliable car to the second most unreliable car a 1991 with 600 wheel hp. I have had it for 8 years and since replacing everything has been very reliable. JDM cars were the best and the 90’s was a special time for cars. Kids these days are not really as much of gear heads as gen Xers. Buy, fix and drive your cars. Too bad cars have become more expensive and soon internal combustion motors will be a thing that rich people have.
I would not recommend the non turbo front wheel drive versions. You are really going to be disappointed. The best idea if you want one of these is to get a beater daily driver and use the VR4 as a weekend car. That way when stuff breaks (and it will break) then you can take your time diagnosing the issues and fixing it. Like everyone mentioned in the video lots of parts are discontinued. You can't get an OEM oil pump or flywheel anymore. So if you want to rebuild your engine or do the 120k service, you are going to have to go with used or aftermarket parts. But it's definitely worth all the headaches when the car is running right. It's Japan's most underrated car IMO.
I don’t think first time drivers are expecting much out of their first car. I think the point is to ease into the maintenance Instead of jumping into engine rebuilds and other issues the forced induction models come with
I’m very surprised at how much attention my stealth gets. Engine swap aside, it stands out as something you don’t see every day…or ever. It gets WAY more attention than I thought it would, which is pretty neat.
Yup same here. Didn’t expect it taking out and having people ask/ take pictures haha
I picked up a 91 Stealth ES about 2 weeks ago. No rust, original paint, stock everything, everything works, manual. $3150!! Not sure if I’ll keep it but it was a steal
Nice! Keep it. They’re going to keep going up in value
my dad had 5 of them i miss them all i really hope they dont become overrated
I bought a ‘96 base back in 2021 and it’s the biggest money pit I have, and I wouldn’t want it any other way, I love the car to death!
It’s a love hate 😅
What in my opinion was the best part of the car is I'm 6'4 and on the heavy side and when I was driving the car I never had issues feeling tight just leaned the seat a little back and I never once felt uncomfortable
This car definitely feels more spacious than the Evo and Eclipse. Perfect for the taller owners
I'm a bit older and remember my neighbor having a 91 Stealth RT Turbo. I used to stare at it every time I rode my bike. Then, she got a brand new 96 RT Turbo! Both were red. My step-dad worked at Dodge at the time, and he hated working on them!
Ask him if he misses them lol
This things so nice, makes me miss my old one. Might have to get another!
I have a first gen SL 62k original miles when I first bought it it has 67k now after 4 years of ownership
Take care of it. Low miles
The 3000gt/vr4 are such clean cars!!! One day I will add one to my fleet!
I love my 3000. I definitely agree that the prices are going up for sure but I do agree with the fact that it may take some time. More and more TH-camrs seem to cover these cars and get the word out about them and reach a broader audience. Not only that but I feel like most, if not all, owners get asked by friends or strangers what car is that or they seem interested and end up purchasing one. At least in my experience. Got a buddy who likes cars and is going to be picking up a 3000GT pretty soon so, domino effect after that tbh and they will get really expensive one day.
At least we got them before they turn popular. It’s only a matter of time, just like eclipses have been on the rise lately
I think the difficulty of the car just makes it more rewarding.
It really does. I appreciate it 100x more 2 years later
Bought one just a few weeks ago , and literally every time I go to the gas station or gym …. People are all over it . I’ve noticed the value has been rising rapidly aswell .
They look sick. Aged well 👌🏼
I almost bought one. Several were for sale, sitting around waiting to be picked up but were trashed internally in some way. One would have electrical issues and another would need to be towed because it wouldn't turn on for some reason. Another had sub-200,000 miles on the clock. Very late one night while waiting on a red light there was one which pulled up to my left. It was like an olive metallic green of sorts but what made me know if its presence was the BOV making a satisfying squeak.
For some reason nobody had one for sale after that night. It's as if they all just were sent to the local scrapyards. Not a one is for sale near me. >.<
Maybe for the best. I keep hearing a trashed one is not worth the hassle to restore. Even new from factory they were ... sensitive, mostly the engines themselves.
I still own one and like it, still looks like a 2022 car, i have the vr 4 version
I wish I had a 3000gt. I love the looks, and the performance is pretty good too.
Hopefully you end up with one in the near future. They’re great cars
I have 92 vr4 and love the red color and pop up headlights. The engine is tight and there is no aftermarket market support .
I swapped my with 4g63 that is easier to maintain, lighter, capable of more power and makes the car lighter.
Nice! I’ve considered the same swap for my vr4 as well
@@MiguelDsm hey Miguel I’m also from Durango MX . Representando , I’m almost done with my swap I’ll send you some videos later if you like.
Saludos bro! ✌🏼
@@MiguelDsm igual Miguel , 😅 cuídate.
i agree completely. i almost bought one while i was in the service but it was a SL model and it was white.
i love the pearl white these came in. looks sick with the 99 front bumper conversion. but ive had a base model before. i wont get anything unless its a vr4 at this point
I got 154k on my 96 VR-4. Runs great still. And, it doesn't give me any problems. Granted, I only put a few hundred miles a year on it, but still pulls hard and looks great. Everything works except for the chin spoiler with the active aero.
Normal for the active aero to give out. Glad to hear it’s been great to you
The 90s jdm legend are beautiful cars in their prime
Golden era
Watching your videos makes me want a vr-4 so much
Don’t sleep on them and get one!
Echo what Louie said, these are not as hard to work on as everyone says. I’ve had, and built a few vr4’s (currently have a 99). An amazing vehicle
I’ve always wanted to swap a 4g63 into a 97-99 VR-4 and make it the true super car that Mitsubishi wanted
Same.. maybe one day
I remember when I was in high school and these were brand new. I wanted one in the worst way. Sadly I could never afford one. Now that I'm older, I'm on the hunt for one.
Good luck on your search!
You wanted to sell the VR4 when you first bought it and me along with everyone else told you to keep it because you will regret selling it. I bet you're glad we all got on you about wanting to sell it, next fix should be taking your headliner in to a black suede job done to finish your interior transformation...
Can't wait to love this car again once it runs again.. timing belt tensioner failed and I have belt slap, so I can't drive (risk damaging the engine) until I can get a new timing belt+tensioner in 😞
Good luck. Had a similar situation
@@MiguelDsm Yep, been watching your channel for a lil while now and seen the full process of your cars' problems. It doesn't sound/feel like it has skipped timing yet; it actually has run perfect even on this last day I drove it where the belt slap happened. So I see no reason I shouldn't be able to do a full 60k service and have it running great again.
I keep on telling people that this one of the best supercars of the 90s very reliable car if takin care of, not that hard to work on,and yes it is the best looking one of them all 😁😅
Made me miss my Conquest TSI when you went through the list 😢
If I owned one it would look just like that starion
I have a 94 SL and I love it so much true the downside I have is I got the model with the moonroof and it has a broken crank but all in all I love the sound and the styling of the car. This car is such a neck breaker
My moonroof is also broken haha
@@MiguelDsm yea so I just have mines taped shut but I’m thinking about making it permanent
Damm bro you answer my question😢but ima do my homework and get myself a 3000GT😩❤️
I can't stand Mitsubishis but this one is sharp. That dude at the end said it. There r few cars that he'd rather have.
Unfortunately mine is broken right now. Going in the shop in 2weeks. It's going to be an expensive repair but I can't wait to get it back on the road. I'm having to daily my 2g spyder for now which I love but I miss the 3000gt
It’ll be worth it once it’s back on the road
there are supras with low miles going for 6 figure numbers
Crazy that car is not known in the USA loke the other JDM. Back 8n 90s in Caracas I used to see tons of these along with the other JDM ones
Getting harder everyday it feels good to own a VR4 and Evo best of both worlds. Happy they getting pricey just seeing it but will never sell em I’ll give em to my kids. To keep in family. I love my 3K it’s just hits different a rare Diamond that’s getting harder to find. 3S is a gentleman’s car and I told ya man BTS tuned lol.
They’re investments 😅🤣
@@MiguelDsm 😅😂 Aye Aye it’s Da truth lmao
Honestly these cars need to stay under appreciated, parts are already hard to get and expensive. Definitely don’t need it to be harder
It’s a double edged sword
@@MiguelDsm it really is, and it probably doesn’t help that I like to keep my first gen oem engine wise and still want all the active parts that people take out
I have one,I give it 20/10 amazing car.
What side skirts are those?
Bro I want a 3000GT for my second car, do you recommend it?🔥
Hiroaki Kamisago got it right the first time. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of aftermarket support for the brand.
One day I want one hopefully with in next few years
Bro hyped me up for the Stealth
Those are even rarer than the 3000s
thanks for doing the video
Might not be the best place to ask but I recently got Hit & run by someone on my 98 3000gt SL and it definitely needs a left rear wheel suspension rework, I'm heartbroken and quite honestly by myself because ill have to pay out of pocket to fix it, but I'm not giving up on it, I just would like to know where I could get feedback or good opinions on how to fix it because I'm really trying to save it but I'm losing myself on the process... looking forward to answers! :)
I have both 2nd gen Stealth TT and VR4 and I give the platform 10 out of 10. Where did Alex get the tall lights with led circles? I would like to get a set for my VR4.
Id have to ask him. I’m not too sure
@@MiguelDsm Please find out I would really like to get one.
Hey friend Miguel, where is that Mitsubishi show.
So I have picked up a 91 rt/tt “running” but not “moving” for 1k. And 91 rt has popped up at a salvage yard without title said they’d take 250 for it… would you recommend the salvage car as a parts car? Clean body interior is a little rough
That’s not a bad deal to be honest
I have a 1994 base in decent condition. No turbos :(
I have a 97 vr4 and trying to find parts and are extremely hard
Everybody wants the twin turbo but the SL is just as good in its own right. Easier to work on. Has the same engine just not turbo'd, Weighs about 800lbs less, Has all the same looks, And has all the electronics removed that a TON of vr-4 owners rip out anyway. And you can pick one up for $2,000 giving you more room for a build budget. (edit: missed a word)
Solid point. Do they have same internals? Plus the awd vs fwd might keep many away
@@MiguelDsm the major difference is the SL has 10:1 compression and the vr-4 is like 8:1 compression because of boost. The 2nd gen SL has a 2-bolt main and the vr-4 has a 4-bolt. But you can get quite a lot out of the 2-bolt. Both have forged bottom end. I think the first gen vr-4 and SL have cast cranks. And the heads are different the SL has rectangular exhaust ports and the Vr-4 has circular exhaust ports. And supposedly the vr-4 flow somewhat better. But both heads flow pretty well. People put twin turbos from a vr-4 right on an SL just need to either run like 7 psi of boost or run better fuel to turn it up.
@@MiguelDsm also you can just chuck a vr-4 engine into one. I think you'll need either chrome or a vr-4 ecu. But they are the same engine and it will drop right in.
@@MiguelDsm tbh the real benefit of AWD is right at the launch were you really are traction limited. Any other time the simplicity and reduced weight of the FWD makes up for it. Oh and get an LSD for the fwd trans thats the one main weak point in it.
If you had a dodge stealth how would you mod it ? Make it look like the 3000gt or? You might not even want it because it’s a dodge huh lol
A 3000gt conversión 🤣
When I grow up...will this car still be on the market?
So dont get it kids if you dont have the funds to keep it running. If you do have the cash to burn, then yes its a beautiful car.
It's a good ..video.^^ Even just watching it.
🙏🏻
The Japanese corvette or maybe that's the fd rx7 ..
It’s the Japanese Ferrari. The fd can keep that title lol
Is there a way to convert these to AWD like you did with your 2G?
Im honestly not sure. You would have to check the forums
DSMs ...You can make them reliable but you're going to learn the hard way cuz they do break due to some inadequate engineering. I know 1st hand,,,Early 90s Nissan's where indistructable after driving 245,000 miles with absolutely nothing breaking.
The 3000gt actually has a horrible reputation for reliability. It's a bit of a moot point now, but back in the day even though 3/s owners did have more money than DSM owners, the cost of maintenance was so much higher and the owners didn't want to do that. Also, back in the day dealers would straight up refuse to work on these cars if their techs were garbage. So in some cases even if you were willing to pay it was hard to find someone who could take care of it right. I view owning a 3/s as a badge of honor. If you have a clean reliable 3/s, chances are you work on your own shit.
These are the type of owners that tend to be around them. It’s not for the faint of heart
VR4LIFE 😁VR4EVER😎
some of these 3000gt's look like something a 12 year old designed on need for speed underground. i get it, you want to modify it...but some of that stuff just looks stupid, took it way overboard.
Nice
🤝
I don’t believe in starter cars. If you see one at a great deal, then buy it. Why would you pass on a great deal just to buy another starter car. Doesn’t even make sense.
😄👏🤟👍😎
Imagine a 3000GT VR4 with a 1JZ or 2JZ swap 🤤🤤🤤
Ew
1st
Second again lol
@@MiguelDsm my Wi-Fi and the ads slowed me down I will be 1st again
SHUT DOWN "triggered" inflation hahahahahahahahahahaha No....
I have a 1995 and it has been difficult to get parts, I work on it myself and now I'm trying to get the wiring diagram cause i have to rebuilt the wiring from scratch. If someone knows where I can find the wiring diagram let me know, thank you 🥰😝
